  Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most of the modules.

  (If you use it, switch to the default theme).

  • You can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the restart with the disabled... modules menu item while Firefox is running.

  Almost everytime I open Windows Media Player 12, it crashes. Usually, the window opens but is grey and the cursor indicates that it is busy.

  I had this problem for months, it was really making me nervous. But I've sorted it.

  The problem was in pictures, corrupted files, not wmp or music that I assumed that would be the question.

  Heal... GB of photos and video. I had some files that had no picture. These are the corrupted files that were the cause of the problem. I had 8 photos and 2 videos that I downloaded on my iPhone 5. I just don't understand how or why it happened. Not a clue.

  Even removing them was difficult, as I went to remove WMP shutdown.

  So I google and download "File Assassin" work all works fine now.

  I curse me Microsoft WMP, but Apple has been the cause of the problem.

  Good luck, WMP is so much better than ITunes.

  If it works let me know. I just would like to know if it helps someone.

• 13.0 Firefox crashes on startup almost everytime. Thus, all of the updates fail because Firefox has to restart. What should I do?

  For the past several versions of Firefox (I think 10 or 11), I had a lot of trouble to get Firefox to start. I understand not all crash IDs. It just won't start not almost everytime. Ironically, I think to be able to get to doesn't start until I opened another browser such as Internet Explorer. Then, it will start until I close it. So I have to repeat the same process (opening another browser, then try to start Firefox) every time so he could start again. Now, the problem seems to have gotten a some worst bit with version 13.0. It cannot be updated because Firefox needs to restart to update. When he tries to turn on, he can't. When I finally get Firefox to work (after opening IE), I get a notification indicating that the update failed. I saw the notice on the Web site, but does not. It drives me crazy!

  You can also check your security software (firewall) because it does not yet acknowledge the new version of Firefox 13.0.1.

  One possible cause is security software (firewall, antivirus) that prevents or limits Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

  Delete all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container in the permissions list in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

• Illustrator CS5 crashes everytime I open the fonts Menu

  I use one of the new Mac Book pro retinas.  Everytime I open the Type > font menu the program crashes.  Sometimes I can scroll down a little ways, but sometimes it crashes immediately.  Photoshop loads previews fine so I think it's a problem of illustrator and not a more general problem of police.

  OK, so I'm now leaning towards a corrupt police also like a Wade Z. suggested. A few things to try if you have not first.

  1.) did you repair permissions using the disk utility in Applications > / utilities? I do this and run it several times until it works "own." This means that you don't fix anything in the list. (I'm assuming you're on a Mac). If you're on a PC, it won't help.

  2.), you can try to reset the PRAM etc, but I do not think that this will contribute to this problem. Sometimes you never know well.

  So, if there is a corrupted font, I need to know if you use a font management program or if you manually place them in folders of fonts? (again assuming you are using a Mac). Post Script Type 1 fonts are known to be more finicky to use Snow Leopard and Lion. I had a few problems with duplicate fonts that were causing havoc on my machine a few weeks ago. So, you can try to track down if you have duplicate fonts. I just use Spotlight to find where the stray fonts have been installed. If you install the fonts manually I would temporarily remove them all user > library > fonts folder (or elsewhere you can installed them), then restart. In this way, you can test to see if maybe that's the problem. So in this case that you can add half of the fonts back and get it sorted bubble to find what font is corrupt. A bubble sort is a way to take half of the something and test whether it is good or bad. So if it's a bad half, again taking the half once to see if it is good or bad. In this way, you can hone in on a specific file at the root of the problem. It can be a bit tedious to have to restart, but is one of the best ways to find a corrupt font. Another method may be to remove all of the same type of police and add each set as the problem shows up again (if remove them, it's what suits him).
