already installing windows vista on a computer with windows 7

I have windows 7 on my computer.  I have a scanner that is too old to run on windows 7.  Can I install vista in order to run the scanner? is there a better solution?

Hello

You can dual boot, but have you tried to install the software of the scanner mode "compatibility"? Look for the Setup file for the scanner and right-click on it. In the drop-down menu, click Properties. In the Properties window, click the Compatibility tab. In the compatibility window place a checkmark (tick) in the box next to the box "run this program in compatibility mode for" and then click on the arrow to the right of the box just below this option to display the opertaing systems. The default is Windows XP SP3, but you can change it by clicking on the arrow down and selecting Vista operating system list. After doing this, click on the OK button and your scanning software should begin to install it in compatibility mode for Windows Vista.

This may solve your problem rather than having to create another partition, install Vista, and then dual-boot.
