Amount of access points allowed on a 4402 (50 PA)?

We habe a WLC 4402 race (SW Version 6.0.196.0) which is supposed to support access 50 points.

It is a solution of WLAN of comments with 2 Wireless LANs that are tunneled through the FW to a WLC anchor that leads to the internet and 1 WLAN which is directly lead to the corporate network.

For the moment, I have attached... access 47 points and my problem is, I can't tie up more than that.

I tried to take one of the 47 offline and then I could attached a new. But the limit seems to be 47.

What can be the reason why 3 AP licenses are taken?

Here is the log of the AP, which tries to connect:

  • Access points join different WLC

    Hello

I have a remote control module (NME-AIR-WLC25-K9) installed in a Cisco No. 2851 SRI, this configuration is in my remote site, we are connected through network of the MAN. In our main office, I have a cisco wireless controller 4402. so whenever I have install an access point in my remote instead of the remote site WLC joiining site, the access point joins my controller 4402 main office, I have no why this is the case, the AP does not even reach the remote site WLC... I do not set up high availability and these two controller are separate RF network.

the version of the firmware in NME-AIR-WLC25-K9 is 7.0.98.0...

the version to the other controller is 6.0.196.0

Please let me know what else I need to check as soon as possible

    Thank you

    knockaert

    This is not the point.

Assume that you have two controllers: WLC - a and WLC - B.

You have an AP that interested in joining WLC - a but instead will join always WLC - B.

The solution is to set up "High Avlailability" with details WLC - A entered as the PDC.  This will force the access point to the correct controller: WLC.-a.

    Does that answer your question?

  • Upgrade license 4402 for additional access Points

You can apply the L-LIC-WPLUS-25 to a 4402 to enable multiple access points? Or are the 4402 models all locked in their designated access point license?

    Thank you

    -Con

    Hi Con,

    Unfortunately not :(

The number of support of the AP is "hardcoded" on the WLC model and is not expandable up to 5500 series.

    See you soon!

  • 4402 wireless controller and the 1130AG access points

I have a bunch of 1130AG (35) and 1231 points of access. I just bought a controller 4402 so I could handle these much easier access points. I currently have the offline access points, so I could control. With the wireless in the mix controller, that I have to fix these to light mode or can I leave them offline.

We know not the operating instructions so I can leave them in stand-alone mode. Most of them is in the rafters in our warehuse, and I didn't have to pull of these if I have to. If I can use them offline, how can I do that?

    Thanks much for any info!

    Dave

    Hi Dave,.

    A WLC manages autonomous APs.
So if you want to centralize the management of your APs through the WLC, you will need to convert it to light and enter them on the WLC.

To convert the lightweight access points, you can choose between several options:

    1. thanks to a specific upgrade tool that you could install on a PC:
    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/partner/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/LWAPP/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html

    2. [the most evolutionary] by WCS, with a model of migration that could apply to several APs:
    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/wireless/WCS/7.0/Configuration/Guide/7_0apcfg.html#wp1054876

    3. [not in any book] by the following steps:
3 (a) download the CEC lwapp recovery image and store it on a TFTP server.
3 (b) Telnet to the stand-alone PA and issuing the following command:
    Archive Download-sw / overwrite/reload tftp: / // [lwapp recovery image file path]

As a general recommendation, before to convert the lightweight access points, you can be sure that the wired infrastructure behind is ready to direct them to the WLC for recording.
It's suggestions explained in the link on the above option #1.

    Hope this helps,

    Fede

  • Droid Turbo could not connect the Cisco access point

    Greetings.

Since the upgrade to a droid turbo, I was unable to connect to the network without wire of my work. I work in the it Department, but my experience with Cisco technologies and wireless is limited, so I tried to understand why. My previous bike x worked fine. We have a network of all the access points managed by a controller Cisco 4402 running version 7.0.98 of the BONES. I was able to connect to another wireless network that I could meet outside of work, and I am able to connect to the network of my work if I connect it is unsecured guest SSID. Only connections to our 4 secure networks fail. The controller reports that my phone cannot all simply to authenticate. The controller is configured for WPA2 / AES using a key 284 on the particular network, that I am trying to connect. I entered this key manually both via copy and paste. As far as my phone goes, I only tried to withdraw and time networks like tent to start it in safe mode without success. I read on various forums android that maybe it's a problem related to Kit Kat and this kind of problem has appeared on other handsets from other manufacturers, but nothing definite.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  • Mixture of different Access Points "Country."

    Hello!

Is it possible to connect an existing WLC-4402-25-K9 AIR-LAP1242AG-S-K9 Access Points that are populated with AIR-LAP1242AG-A-K9? The difference is in the 's' and 'A' in the part numbers. The APs "S" could not somehow reach the WLC. Please suggest what needs to be done. Thank you very much!

As long as your WLC runs 4.1 or higher, you have AP with several country codes. You just need to add all the country codes, you want to be allowed to join the controller.

  • With the help of new access points with old WLC 4100; LWAPP layer 2 switching 3-tier

    Hi all

We currently use two solutions Wiresless LAN - a 10 AP1230 access points-based autonomous (5 years) and a solution based on a Cisco WLC 4100 (4112, running 3.2) with 12 AP1010 LWAPP access points.

First thing, we are considering to replace the stand-alone solution with the WLC one. However, I'm not sure if we can use the new access points such as the LAP1041N or the LAP1252G with our current 4100 WLC. Access reported data sheets 'Cisco Unified Wireless Network Software Release 7.0 or later version' 'software '. Does this mean that these access points can only be used with controllers running 7.0 or later?

If we are unable to use the new access points with our current WLC and need to buy a new controller: can we use access points AP1010 current with a new WLC as the Cisco 4402?

Second thing, it is that we want to expand the networks configured on the WLC 4100 to another site that is connected via VPN wireless. Wireless Setup guide indicates that the LWAPP mode can be changed from Layer 2 to 3 layers so that the access points can be configured with an IP address, which allows you to place access points basically anywhere as long as IP connectivity exists between the AP and the WLC.

Y does it as described in a document with the change of mode LWAPP layer 2 to 3 layers? Or ist just the following steps (if I understand correctly):

-Change the Mode of Transport LWAPP on the controller of layer 2 to 3 layers

-Creation of a PA-manager interface with an IP address in the same subnet as the management interface (tried that, without changing LWAPP mode transport first and not was not possible - error)

    With regard to different sites:

-Configure option DHCP 43 with the IP address of the WLC or DNS with CISCO-LWAPP - CONTROLLER.localdomain

-Make sure that the interface ap - manager can reach points on the different site

Is it really just as simple as that? All information about it is very appreciated!

/ edit: I would also like to know if the 1260 series access point are backward compatible with 802. 11B. Whereas it is stated in 1040 and 1250 for example series data sheets, it is not particularly mentioned in 1260 data sheet.

    Thank you

    Michael

Well, let's start with the simple question/answer

    With regard to different sites:

-Configure option DHCP 43 with the IP address of the WLC or DNS with CISCO-LWAPP - CONTROLLER.localdomain

-Make sure that the interface ap - manager can reach points on the different site

Yes, it's as simple as that.

As for other issues, looks like you would be better served with a forklift upgrade.  New controllers and new AP.

Now, the AP 1230/1240/1250. all work on the 4.2, 1140 code starts with 5.2 and 1040/3500/1260 are 7.0

The AP 1000 series is not supported after 4.2 code.

Refer to here for the complete list of the AP and taken codes supported:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn7.0.html#wp610751

From what I see, the 4100 is not supported after the train of 3.2.

So, it really depends on what you are trying to accomplish with the upgrade.  If you are looking for a 80.211n support, you really want to be 5.2 or better, we had some problems with MRR + 40 Mhz channels, 4.2, 5 GHz band only.

  • My Airport Time Capsule can act as a WIRELESS access point

    Hello.

I brought a Time Capsule with my Mac Pro. It worked well since yesterday.

I have set up the time Capsule as a WIFI, bypass at my local network access point. There is a router (cable) works at home.

It's my Mac Pro AirPort Utility and my iPhone, my Time Capsule is displayed with an exclamation point saying "device not found". I can't connect to the disk on this subject by afp share, or smb. Time Machine function is gone too. He failed trying to connect to the share drive from another computer connected to the time Capsule by cable network.

But at the same time, WiFi works well.

I tried to recycle energy. Sharing disk will be available. But if I start the Time Machine backup, it will not be a few seconds.

    Any idea?

    Thank you.

There are several posts here related the issue.

Luckily, you have set up your new Time Capsule for Back to My Mac (BTMM)?

If so, the 'temporary' solution is to delete/disable the option of the CCMM, as follows:

    • Run the AirPort Utility.
    • Select the base and then station, select change.
    • On the tab of the Base Station, go back to the section of my Mac at the bottom of the window.
    • If you have entries here, select it and click then the minus sign "-" button to remove it.
    • Click on update and allow the base station restart.

If you have not enabled CCMM, we have other options for you to try.

I set up my WiFi Atheros in usual manner of Vista. The steps are described in most PC portals for the creation of an access point WiFi in Windows Vista.

    4. share the internet connection button.

  • ConfigFree locks access - point impossible to Exchange to another

I try to use WiFi in cafes using a public wireless network but am able because ConfigFree selects only one SSID and won't release or allow me to swap to the other network. I can drag on the radar at the other hotspot network but the new line will remain solid and when he goes with a message on the network of another provider leaving the position of blocking on the connected SSID.

Question: How do I swap from one access point to another when I see both on the radar chart?

    Hello

ConfigFree is tool created for the network monitoring and using this tool, you have a very good and accurate overview of the connection used. To configure WIFI connection, use SETTINGS WLAN windows or pre-installed client WLAN (if available). Here you can make the connection to favorite and available wireless networks.

  • [Wireless-Vista] Disable the automatic access point.

Right then, I had this problem when you play any kind of online game, what microsoft calls a 'feature', when I play a game online, I get a 5seconds or until disconnecting lag spikes every 1-5 minutes, making it impossible to play counter-strike, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Battlefield 2 and all these sorts of FPS games. I read on this vista of "paintings" Wi - Fi point automatic scan has, so I tried with impatience to deactivate, without success, I even once turned off automatic TCP/IP that crashed my computer, so now I'm wondering, how in the world am I supposed to play a game with spikes of major shift due to a malfunction of the so-called?
If there is a way to turn it off, remove, or simply work around, tell me. I don't care if it is not allowed, because I got it with feautures of microsoft...

    sckizman,
Have you ever been able to play games online with this computer?
What version of Vista and what service pack you have?
You are able to surf on the net normally or you we lag with almost anything on the internet?
If you have not yet done so, perform a clean boot , and then test your access.  Also make sure that your system BIOS and chipset drivers are up to date.

  • Unable to find the access point or use any device to all wireless to connect to my BEFSR41 v4.0

Hi well the problem seems to be that whenever I try to use any type of device and try to connect using a wireless connection to my router, I can't find an access point or no signal at all of it, but when you use a wired connection, it works perfectly. For example, I'm trying to connect my Wii to the internet via a wireless connection, but I can't find any access point so that it can connect to. So I went to my router configuration and I didn't know what to do to allow a shown access point or wireless to all activity. Theres no wireless tab or whatever it is to install, so I didn't allow remote administration, but still I could not find an access point. I don't know if im just made bad or I need an update of the firmware (mine is currently 1.04.02) or what else. If the help would be nice

BEFSR41 isn't a wireless router... It is wired.

  • WRE54G canmot associated not with this access point in Repeater mode.

    Hello

Because of the concrete walls, I have a weak signal to use the WRE54G to extend my existing wireless network. However, I installed an Ethernet cable and found possible to connect the WRE54G access point. This is my extension of network is via a connection to an Ethernet cable. Is seems to work fine, it allows communications to the internet and shows a power good signal from a remote PC. But it works only in unsafe mode.

Although I tried to reset, and then follow the instructions to set up a new WEP or WPA encryption, the installation program recognizes the WRE54G, but does not allow me to save the configuration.

The error it says it is "WRE54G canmot not associate with this access point in Repeater mode.

    Help, please

Make sure your router's wireless settings and WRE are the same. Try changing the channel on your router, if your router's wireless channel is the default after the procedure, your WRE is unable to communicate with your wireless router.

A: Yes, that would allow a wireless client to connect to the network. Deal with the AP as a "wireless switch". If you have DHCP running on the network, the DHCP information will also provide computers wireless connecting to the AP.

Q: the second question is how can I connect a gateway (for example WAG200G) so more that the entire network to the Internet?

These symptoms may be more pronounced when on battery.

    Cause:
The PSP mode is a feature that provides the long battery life for laptops. It requires coordination between the AP or router and the Wi - Fi adapter. Intel has discovered that some APs or routers may not implement the feature correctly or completely.

Heard different things people try, depending on their wireless adapter.

Start, control panel, device, netowrk, their adapter, power management Manager. Clear the checkbox to allow windows to turn off this device to save power

Start, control panel, device, netowrk, their adapter, advanced management. Looking for antenna diversity. Some cards have it and others don't. Replace the Auto antenna by supply diversity

Some have disabled Wireless N of their card and achieved good results.

Some Wireless N adapters operate ONLY on the 2.4 GHz frequency.

Using these parameters of the recommended wireless router I use channel 11, have GREAT results. I usually recommend creating a new SSID to make the connection easier. Wireless devices also needs to connect to the NEW network.
