Angle in tagged text

I have a process that creates text marked import in the code files. However, it's crashes when I try to import from the rafters ' < ' which are used in our technology. I tried to export an article with the < sign in, but this also fails. I tried to use the ascii format < 0c003C >, but that does not work either.

Any suggestions on how to do it?

The problem is the brackets are used for other codes and paragraph styles. I tried export text marked from InDesign to see if she could escape from hooks. He did. Try to escape them by adding a bar backslash before the elbow hook. Let us know if it works.

  • Uncheck "Display a list of tags problem" by program - place tagged text

    Hello

    I am a member of cloud of Adobe and work on the development of a plug-in for InDesign. I use ExtensionBuilder 2.1 as an IDE and ActionScript as a development language.

    When I do Place InDesign, by opening a document and the file > Place... in import options, I see the checkbox "list of problem tags before the place." I can uncheck and remove a file with the tagged text, and it does show me all the problems present in the tagged text. I want to get this behavior programmatically.

    I'm importing text marked on the document InDesign through 'Place' prgrammatically. I am using below function to do this:

    myDocument.place (myArray, false);

    I understand that the options for placing the tagged text can be changed by app.taggedTextImportPreferences object. But I see not all the relevant functions to uncheck "Display a list of problem tags before place" checkbox.

    Any help is very appreciated.

  • Import without Adobe Tagged text files linked styles

    I have several weekly publications that have a lot of data where the link to all the files in text format that contains the Adobe tag have suddenly, paragraph styles and character styles stripped on hoisted.  I am aware of the issue of the default settings, where you uncheck everything and ensure that styles of character is none, and that doesn't seem to be the issue. More precisely

    • Work in CS 5 (Version 7.0.4)
    • Files in text format that contains the Adobe tag are exported from Excel spreadsheets
    • InDesign documents have links to the files in the referenced text in Adobe format, and updated link is used inside InDesign update the text when the file is exported from the spreadsheet.
    • When publications are open on my workstation, all files related to the Adobe Tagged text files are not imported properly, they return to the standard paragraph style.
    • These aren't new documents that I design or new text files containing the Adobe tag, this is part of a production process that has worked without problem for years.
    • The same documents are open on another post work, and put up-to-date used links, they come in perfectly, so it doesn't seem to be a document or file corruption problem, but a problem with my environment, or settings ID.
    • This isn't a specific document or file, it's every single document that has a link to a text file that contains the Adobe tag (and we have many, I tried several!)
    • I opened the text file in the text editor to check, but as I said: same document, the same files, I'm the only person who cannot be updated without stripping on styles.

    Thank you! Nancy

    Hi Nancy,.

    It is worth noting that you point out that you have configured your desktop to create links when placing text and spreadsheet files. This means that you don't him aren't placing, you simply update the links, right? Is that mean that you saw as not this window in a while?

    Suggestions only I can think of are:

    (1) place a file tagged text (Show Import Options) checked to you reassure remove text formatting is not enabled by default on your workstation

    or

    (2) if the machine everyone behaves properly, your InDesign installation may be borked. First try to replace your preferences; If this does not work, reinstall.

    Of course there is always

    (3) I hope someone who knows more about text InDesign containing the tag appears and records in your thread.

    Edit: Okay, maybe Peter will exercise option no. 3 above.

  • Tag text - how to get tabs

    I use Filemaker to generate a tagged text file. I can't find the correct tags for a tab character and a tab on the right.

    Quark, it was < \#9 > and < \t >, but when I look at the text in InDesign that contains the tag, the tabs do not appear as a tag in their own right. Any ideas? Or a different tack, does anyone know how to insert a 'leg' in a Filemaker calculation?

    Thank you

    Emma

    I don't know if this helps you, but if you select any character in InDesign and go in the Info Panel (window > info or press F8) it will show the unicode character. A tabulation of withdrawal right is 0 x 8 unicode is then 0 x 0008

  • Accented characters in tagged text

    I write normally copy it into a text editor (TextPad), paste into InDesign and format in the story editor. Now I want to format it in TextPad and import the tagged text. But I find that accented characters on the numeric keypad, as well as other characters most frequently used - €, £-are being misinterpreted. For example R$ 8·25 million (approximately €3 million) is available as a R$ 8a·25 million (topic has ' ¬3 million) and Fundação de Amparo to research do Estado de São Paulo is rendered as Fundaa§a£ o of Amparo to research State of SECURITY£ o Paulo.

    I have the options for formatting the text ANSI or DOS file, and I used the headers < ASCII-WIN > and < ANSI-WIN >, but there seems to be no combination that brings the text properly.

    Substituting values for these characters Unicode gives me what I want and I can build a library of them to add in TextPad, but this is contrary to my goal more productivity.

    Can someone give me a formatting of the options so that I can use the numeric keypad to generate the extended characters in a form that will import as referenced text?

    k

    Not true. My example starts in Indesign, go to NoteTab (I have no TextPad, but I think that NoteTab is a pretty close contender), then back to Indesign.

    Try this: start Notepad, type some ALT characters, paste the ANSI-WINNER header at the top and that import into Indesign. TextPad is perhaps saving as something else than plain text.

  • How "data fusion" and "tagged text" work together in InDesign?

    Hello, I'm new to InDesign and I'm doing a fusion of data from a CSV file that has marked text.

    When I do the data merge, however, I just get the code itself and not the result of the code, if that makes sense.

    Is this possible?

    I don't have ID can interpret the labels for a data merge - he expects plain text or a path to the image.

    You can use find/replace after the merger, however, to lovate tags, add style, then remove the labels. This could be very simple or extremely difficult, according to the number of styles and wheter local formatting or character style are used outside the paragraph styles.

  • View entire tag text

    I have a need to display the text of the entire tag that will be read aloud to screen readers.  If I look at the sign of the tags, for example to a P tag, there it will be contains something like "this is a sample text that...". "I want to see all of the text, not just the beginning. Right click on the text and choosing Properties does not have any text.  For the numbers, right click on the text and choosing Properties text in the alternate text field, but only what is visible in the pane, then most of the text is cut off. There is a scroll bar, but the ground is gray and I can't scroll. However, it would be annoying to have to scroll through each tag in a long document.  Is it possible to view or export all the text associated with the tags?  The document is secure, but it is a general question, even on unsecured documents.  I'm on Acrobat 9 for Windows.

    You can save as XML and tags in the tags panel become the in the XML file.  It's the only way I know to see all the text.

  • ' Inferior to ' sign in InDesign that contains the tag Text

    I use Filemaker to build the text marked for InDesign, but I get an error when the text contains a < (or even a >) sign.

    Does anyone know what combination of characters that I should replace this ID so will see this for what it is, not as a tag opener/closer? Quark was <------<>but InDesign is not satisfied either.

    Thank you

    Emma

    Just type 'Test test' in a framework and export that yields

    Test \ test

    and his reading in ID gives the desired result.

  • How can I keep text level if I change the angle of the text box?

    I am creating a flyer and added a text box that I've then inclined to match with an associated picture. Unfortunately, the text turns in bulk, which is a pain. the clues how to keep this level when shot?

    Text in a text box will remain at level with the horizontal axis of the rotated text box and it does not work independendly of the box containing the text. Bulk is an insufficient compound word which does nothing to show us what you don't like in the rotation of text current, and that precisely the hope of a result.

  • Delete tagged text carriage return

    Hello

    I'm trying to score a few points, but I have some difficulty. I would like to mark all paragraphs of a textframe.

    I do it like this and works like its supposed to:

    var paragraphs:Array = indesignTools.getParagraphsForTextFrame(currentTextframe.id);

    for (var j:uint = 0 ; j < paragraphs.length ; j++) {
        var currentParargraph:Paragraph = paragraphs[j];
        if (currentParargraph.isValid) {
            InDesign.app.activeDocument.xmlElements.add("section", currentParagraph);
        }
    }

    Now, the problem I have is that, if the paragraph has a cart at the end, this carriage return should not get tag,

    so I should finish with a paragraph labeled, NOT to mention the last return transport.

    How do I change my code if I can mark all paragraphs without the last carriage return?

    Still waiting for a few comments of thanks or a useful on the post on the recovery of the properties of a "nil" style of characters but anyway...

    Why not just replace

    var currentParargraph:Paragraph = paragraphs[j];

    with something like

    var currentParargraph:Paragraph = paragraphs[j].characters.itemByRange(0,-2)

    It does not test, but should work.

    Don't forget to tell your little.

  • How to change the angle of the text to 0 degrees?

    Is there an easy way to do this?  I noticed that when I am rotating, it shows me the angle.  But all that I can see to do is see what is around the corner, then go to turn and change the angle of this amount.  But it doesn't show me the angle, unless I'm clicking on the arrow turn on free transfoem encompassing.

    Oh and another thing.  I'm trying to align a shape with two textfields.  But the shape is aligned with the lower edge of the bounding box of the TextField.  The form is a letter that I made myelf, and I want to sit alongside the actual type.  But it is zone bounding is shorter because it doesn't have all the Downhillers.  Is there an easy way to align these?

    Nicola,

    Illy forget the degree of rotation, once it's done. You had better remember, or to remind/make a note.

    To align (using Vertical Align Bottom), you can (don't forget possible overflow):

    (1) select the Type, copy in the front, Type > vectorize and note the difference in the values Y of one of the low Points of reference;

    (2) lift the letter personal by this amount after aligning.

  • Angle box saving text or library?

    Hi all

    Very new to ID of Quark and I have a few teething pains.

    Is there an equivalent feature in InDesign to function of 'library' of Quark? I have a text box that is turned 90 degrees with a format of paragraph applied to it. A work that I produce changes regularly and I would like to insert a box at each change page detailing the changes. In practice it is the text box of a high line with a hairline leaping rule, 8pt Helvetica embedded to the left, then have the 270 degree rotation box. In Quark I store a box sample replace in the library and just hang out on every page and it seems to work fine. Is there a similar feature that I use in InDesign?

  • Book and conditional text Tags file do not match

    With Framemaker 10 (CT 3, Windows 7 64-bit), when I click on a document in a book (& view > show/hide conditional text), there is no such thing as an additional conditional text tag that appears in the text document show/hide conditional.

    For example:

    1. In the book, My Book.book, I select Chapter1.fm (but do not open).
    2. Then I opened the group Show/Hide conditional text (view > show/hide conditional text)
    3. I see these two tags, text to hide and HideTextcondition. I use text hide but not HideText.
      • Apparently, at some point, I changed the name of the condition tag.
    4. I have to open Chapter1.fm.
    5. When I open the Panel of text show/hide conditional , HideText is not there.

    What I want to do is to remove HideText (that I don't use), but I can't find how to court. any ideas out there?

    A little more information that might help to understand what is happening:

    1. I select Chapter1.fm in the book.
    2. Then I select view according to the condition in the group Show/Hide conditional text .
    3. Select the hide field HideText .
    4. Click the left arrow (<-) to move the field to display HideText .
    5. Click apply.
    6. I get this error message in the book error log:
      • Cannot display the following tags because they do not exist in the present document

    So, can someone tell me how to get rid of HideText from files of the book?

    Thank you!

    John N.

    John,

    With only the open book file, even if one of its documents is selected, the show/hide box lists all the conditions in the book. The error message says you that the selected document does not have this tag. Thus, some other documents in the book has the label or that you think that you have changed the name in the past and he is still in the book file to.

    So first, I'd follow the suggestiong of Sheila #4. Save the BOOK as mif. Open the mif with a text editor. Search for the following sequence of lines:

    <>

    .

    .

    .

    > end # ConditionCatalog

    Remove these lines and save the file. Now open the mif file in FrameMaker and save it as a FrameMaker book (in the record dialog, don't forget to remove the string ".mif" at the end of the file name or image will complain). The book was updated. FrameMaker will then create a new catalog of condition in the book based on conditions in the files of the book.

    If the condition is still there, then you need to find the document that contains still. You can use the Find function to search for conditional text with just this condition.

  • [LIKE, CS4] Import and export text file that contains the tag: encoding problem

    Hello

    I have a script that exports a text selection into a temporary folder (Unicode) text file with label. This file is then loaded in a variable AS and transformed line-by-line for some changes to the text. Subsequently a new text file with the modified content is written.

    Up to CS2 (and 10.4 PPC) this script worked like a charm. He stopped working with the new system and Intel. Meanwhile, I discovered that it must have something to do with encoding problems. «Everything in the old writing with ' as a unicode text "forced a mistake (since AS 2 each text is processed as UTF - 16), so I changed these lines to ' as text '.»

    In addition, I realized, that InDesign exports to tag text Unicode like UTF-16 (little endian), but importing tagged text to UTF-16BE (big-endian). "As variables and" write iconv ' command uses MACROMAN, so I added a few conversions with ""and it worked.

    Unfortunately the last conversion of MACROMA in UTF-16BE converts all spaces in the output string en normal spaces.

    I am therefore a little at my end of the problem. Can someone help me please?

    See you soon

    The problem is not as long as ID's export is little-endian - someone ' one has not heard of Intel chips - but it does not add a byte order mark. If you add a BOM, the problem should go away. Here's how you can add a Bill adapted to an exported file to tag:

    the fileRef value (open for access file "Macintosh HD:Users:shane:Desktop: Untitled - 16.txt" with write permission)

    the value of x to read fileRef

    Set x to character id {711, 731} & x - add THE BOM

    write x to fileRef starting with 0

    FileRef close access

    Then you can read it using "text Unicode", and it should also cross-platform very well.

    And stop putting your file read/write inside blocks Finder - is not the business of the Finder.

    It seems that this occurs only when you export in Unicode - I suggest that you connect to a bug. It seems that it also happens in CS5. You can export as ASCII instead? Which encodes all the Unicode, although it is a little more difficult treatment...
