Another scam Email [was: Bernard]

I received two emails claiming to be from Microsoft Support Center tells me someone in Tokyo tried to access my account.  After the first I called my computer support person, he said it's probably a scam, delete.  Today, I got the same message with the same information.  How can I know if is is legitimate or not?

Think of your tech support person.  Microsoft does not contact individuals by e-mail or telephone to tell them that their computer has been attacked, his account has been compromised, or something similar.

If you are unsure of the foregoing... what email told you to?  Call a number without fees or go to a poll official website?

If it's a phone number, enter the number in a Google search and see what the results are.

Links in emails are trickier because they can be disguised.  Just because a link says www.microsoft.com, click top can take you somewhere else entirely.  Try clicking on the link in the previous sentence (it's safe).  You can see the actual code behind any email, but the techniques to vary depending on what mail program you use.

Spam emails are sent to all my contacts from scratch as if the email was from me. How to solve this problem?

    original title: Spam e-mails

What do you mean by "archived" contacts?  If they are not contacts that are currently available to you, then there is no way that your PC could be sending mail to them.

It's the easiest thing to send an email from any address you like in the world.  This is not an indication that your e-mail account has been compromsed.  He could have, but changing your mail server access password can prevent this.  The usual cause of people receiving messages that look as if they're from your is because your address was used as the address of sending junk e-mail.  It is very common and does not mean that your PC or any PC, you never hit sends the mail.  It is something that you can only order if your mailbox has been compromised.

The email is poorly written [bad grammar, etc.], but lists the corporate name of Microsoft and the address at the bottom.

  • Another scam Ammyy

I got a call yesterday from an Indian guy, saying he was from Microsoft.   He said that they have been informed that my computer has been hacked and that it would help me avoid my computer stop completely.   He made me the page of Event Viewer, and then I allowed him to take control of my computer through ammyy.    He transferred my call to another guy who showed me a list of allegedly corrupt files.   He then asked me to subscribe to a protection plan for $299 for 2 PCs for 5 years, or $499 for the lifetime of an unlimited number of computers.   I then googled ammyy on another computer and realized it was a scam.  Then, I turned off my PC and suspended.

After that I ran a full scan of Norton which found and fixed some adware.  I then downloaded Malwarebytes and did a full scan that found a virus:

Trojan.Downloader.NSW. I removed it.  I then restored the PC to before the last windows update, which was three days earlier.  It took more than 20 minutes to restore.

I will contact all banks where I have accounts to ask them to search for suspicious activities.  I change all my passwords.  Is there anything else I need to do?

Finally, another question: when interacting, he made me go to pccare.org by curiosity, after restoration, I typed www.pccare.org and immediately appeared in the top left of the screen in big bold letters 2 words: it works and nothing else happened

My question is: This means that my computer is still infected

    Thank you for your contributions.

My wife (* address email is removed from the privacy *) created an email for my son (* address email is removed from the privacy *).  My son e-mail account is associated with his Xbox Live account.  Recently, I bought the pack family of Xbox Live.  I'm not able to add my son in the family pack because he is not associated with my email account (* address email is removed from the privacy *).  I know that I could easily create a new email/gamer tag for my son, but then I'd lose all downloaded content that I paid for.

My wife (* address email is removed from the privacy *) has removed my son (* address email is removed from the privacy *) summary family.  I tried to link my son (* address email is removed from the privacy *) to my email account (* address email is removed from the privacy *).  However when I do, I get this error message:

"That person has already been added to the parental control. Error code = 16500. »

This error message is partially true.  Yes the person was already added, but then deleted and currently is no longer associated.  Now, I have to add to my account.  Can someone help me please get my son (* address email is removed from the privacy *) associated with my email account (* address email is removed from the privacy *).   I have four hours invested in this and patience my son is running thin.  Xbox Live said that it normally takes 14 days to accomplish.  I can't believe in a technology company cannot remove associations one has an ID and associate it with another code programmatically.  Especially since this must be a fairly common thing because of my situation, but also as a result of divorces and marriages 2nd.

    Thank you!

    Hi Kwb5,

I understand your frustration on this issue. I checked your son's account in our end and discovered that it is still managed by your wife. It is possible that the process did not effect, when you attempt to unlink the account of your son. If please remove the account from your account of your wife son and add it as a new family member to your account. The detailed steps are provided below:

    1. open the current parent account to https://fss.live.com.
    2. in the family summary, click remove a member of the family.
    3. check on behalf of your son with question and click Remove.

After this, please sign in your account that you want to be a new parent account and associate your son. Here's how:

    1. connect to your account on http://fss.live.com.
    2. under Family summary, click on Add a new child.
    3. log on the child's account.

After that, the child's account appears as a member of the family under the new parent account.

    Thank you
