Anti virus companys.

I remember when I am gone from Norton to McAfee Mozilla me asked my new antivirus company and I replyed McAfree. Now, I've changed from McAfee to Norton and me, nothing would change anything. I've searched and can't find anything tell me how to go back to Norton. The Mozilla seems to work very well.

Hi Tim, normally Setup for your new security suite will remove everything we can find other antivirus products 'real time', in preventing conflicts. While may well have avoided any confusion this time.

Some time back I had a few emails Intego with severe warnings of risk and now that my subscription is coming up for renewal I wonder if there are any changes to the general opinion on the need for protection.

You do not have anti virus for Mac.   Review carefully on known sites and you should have no trouble.   Don't download questionable sites (Cnet, MacKeeper and similar).   If you are unsure about a site, ask here in the forums.

  • I use Sophos Anti-virus and found Geneio and Kuklorist

I'm a newbie enough on Mac, having changed my PC a couple of years ago.  I don't have to download Sophos Anti-virus at the moment where I bought the iMac.  I have the OS X El Capitan, 10.11.4 edition.  I had very few problems until recently when I seemed to download a virus or a trojan.  I was actually going to favourable sites when it happened and happened twisted things and something came and said that I had downloaded a virus.  Don't know what the program which has been notified me.

It takes forever, forever, to run the anti-virus program Sophus, like 2 weeks to do (and it scans 2 external drives from 1 to 3 terabytes).

He did not find "viruses", but did fine "an item found" and "detected problems."  When I open the Quarantine Manager, he has a list of 109 separate lines (files) and named the whole Genieo thing.  All but two of the 109 lines have the extension "pdf.pronto" and are listed in my external hard drive (Seagate Backup Plus drive).  Both of which do not have the extension of pdf.pronto have ' macOS/appYM' and Kuklorist in line, like an uninstall and the other as "Application Support/Kuklorist".

I think I have maybe two? problems, as Genieo and Kuklorist, but that might have a single with two names.  I'm not sure.

A - J Sophos program could not automatically delete the files and told to remove them manually.  I have trouble finding a way to do it.  I looked in the community of Apple support and got a few suggestions more elderly (year 2014 and 2015), but cannot follow the steps (I can't use the Finder to locate the lines I should copy.)  I need help, anyone?

    Steve

Download and run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac:

    https://www.Malwarebytes.org/antimalware/Mac/

That should solve the problem of Kuklorist.

Try the following steps to Geneio:

    Hello community!

My company recently purchased all of our personal laptops while they now forces me to install an anti-virus that I got away with it for a while...

    First of all:

I don't want to install one, but I have no choice.

Entirely, I understand and agree that Mac is not need anti-virus.

I had Norton and uninstalled because it caused restarts automatically.

That's what I've done so far:

Checked avast and comments are not good here.

Sophos looks OK, but not sure.

Don't want to go back to Norton.

    What choices do I have?

    System information:

MBP OSX El Capitan, the middle of the YEAR 2014

    Thanks in advance!

  • can I use Firefox with other anti virus programs such as avast?

I have heard do not use more than one anti virus.
I just buy avast and want to know if I can keep FF on computer?

The good news is, Firefox is a web browser, not an antivirus program, then Yes, you can use Firefox and Avast.

You were using before another antivirus program installed a toolbar in Firefox? You can remove those as part of your switch. You can see and disable or remove toolbars on this page:

Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > addons > Extensions category

  • Value of anti-virus programs

I know that anti-virus programs have never been approved on this site, but I just had an experience that might be of interest. I meant Apple support on a minor matter that they helped me difficulty. Just by talking to them, a very annoying noise (a quick series of four or five beeps sounds strong, metal or clicks) began. She disappears for a few seconds and then, inevitably, come back. It was so strong that I was afraid that my iMac was damaged, and the technician that I was talking to said that she had never heard such a sound. She also said that she could not help me and I have to take my computer to the shop for repairs. That's how things stayed until just at the time when I used my anti-virus program in a desperate attempt to find and fix the problem. Before that, I kept my computer off tension and silence for fear of damage to my machine.

When I applied the anti-virus program, a never-ending stream of files would have been smart appeared on my screen. I was really stuck between the proverbial rock and a hard place, so I decided to trash all of these files. However, after I had deleted THIRTY or FORTY of them, I realized that I had not heard that annoying noises since I started, so I stopped the rampage even if an unknown number of suspicious files remained. It was probably the best thing to do because the noise is not returned.

I don't mention the name of my anti-virus program because some might think I'm just a sneaky vendors, but I think that my experience means something. I could be wrong but it seems to me that this noise is caused by some malicious programs and it fixed my anti-virus program. In any case, I'll send my thanks to this company. They saved me a trip to the Apple store and without a car, it was definitely a trip worth the savings. My iMac 27 "transport by bus on a forty minute trip is not my idea of a fun to spend the afternoon.

FWIW, there is no OS x viruses known in the wild. I don't am not personally at the malicious power of any software that would result described sounds. Without knowing which files have been marked as "smart", there are nothing to say if they were or they weren't. A possibility is that your drive is a failure that can cause noise described. Removing some of the "malicious" files the drive may be inaccessible in the region, that the drive is failing.

I would run first aid disk utility to see if it reports errors. I would keep an eye on her.

  • Re: Satellite P775 program reacts to different anti-virus software

    Hello

I bought my Toshiba laptop at the beginning of October 2011, so it can be called to a 'new' laptop.
    It's a Satellite P770.

I took the 30 day trial free McAfee immediately after purchase and have not renewed since. After the purchase, I had also installed Ad-Aware, Spybot S & D and AVG to take care of the protection on a daily basis. Everything worked well until earlier this week, when it asked me to update my Ad-Aware to the latest version, and since the computer was slow morbid, each program invariably always end up with "is not responding.

My browser (Google Chrome) gets as much as my homepage, but I can't connect to any site. I tried to uninstall Ad-Aware (I thought that this must be the problem), but it won't let me. I've heard about the incompatibility of some anti virus McAfee, this could be one of them?

If there is incompatibility between Ad-Aware and McAfee, surely it does not explain the painful speed of my laptop and its lack of reaction. This is something I can only imagine is a virus.

Could I please have a help on this?

My warranty would cover such a problem if I returned my Toshiba Toshiba for that particular difficulty?

    Thanks in advance,

    > My warranty would cover such a problem if I returned my Toshiba Toshiba for that particular difficulty?

    Hello Cameron

Of way General Toshiba has nothing to do with your problem. If you use the combination of different applications and now, you are not happy with the computers portable performance contact software manufacturers and their management of aid.

What everyone here can say, and even you will hear from Toshiba, is that you must reinstall the Toshiba recovery image and start using the laptop with factory again. I put t understand why do you use McAffe and AVG at the same time.

Either use preinstalled McAffe or remove it from the system and install other applications antvirus. I recommend http://www.avira.com/en/index. I use it for years and she is really good antivirus application.
