I deleted a bunch of files of music from my computer (directly in Windows Explorer), but registration for the music files deleted still appear in my Windows Media Player "library".  I tried to right click and select 'Delete', but it does NOTHING.

Any ideas how I get rid of these old entries. I hope I don't have to uninstall and reinstall Windows Media Player!

    SHE FOUND!

If you have a large number of entries in doubles in your library (or if your library is duplicated), it might be better to create a new library.

Method 1: To resolve this problem, clear the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. exit Windows Media Player.

    2. for Windows 7: click Start, run, %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player and then click on OK.

    3. Select all the files in the folder, and then click delete on the file menu.

Note you don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    4. restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

    Hi Phoenixshadows1956,

The music, videos and pictures libraries windows point to the files that store the files of real media on your computer. The Player library simply contains links to multimedia files, but gives you greater control of how you organize and use your digital media content than the Windows folders do.

You question default save location. The default save location determines where an item is stored when it copied, moved or stored in the library. Access the link below to learn more about customizing a library.

  • M4a and M4P files don't show in the Media Player library

Original title: display music files m4p in medial Microsoft Reader library

My Itunes Music Library contains 1400 songs, my Media Player library shows only 20% of people.  Seems that m4p and m4a files do not show in the Media Player library.

WMP 11 is not supported with built-in support for M4P and M4A (MPEG-4 audio) files. For the support of library and the tag for the latter, you need to install the plug-in in WMP Tag Plus .

Note that M4P files are protected against copying, if WMP will probably not be able to read them.

  • Backup of Media Player library content

I understand how to save a playlist in Media Player in My Documents / my music but how do you back up all the content of the Media Player library?

My library is currently on my XP computer and I want to transfer to my new computer Windows 8.1.  My plan was to copy my music on an external hard drive folder but I can't figure out how to get all my music from Media Player on this issue in one fell swoop.  This problem has always bugged me whenever I made a systematic backup on my computer but I never had the time to ask the question so far.

On the other hand, is there another method to transfer all my music between machines?

    Thank you.

Well, no one else has developed a response, but I see that there are at least 2 more of you out there with this problem and I think I have fixed it myself so I'll put what I have done.

I already had my Playlists folder in My Documents / my music and chose to use it, but do your own choice where you want to save the library.

In WMP, select all the songs
    Click on the first entry
A CTRL on the keyboard to select the entire list
Drag the first entry to the playlist pane, and the rest will follow
Click selection without a title, give it a name, select "save under" and scroll to my Document / my music / my Playlists (or anywhere where you want to store)
    Save

I was sure that I had tried this before without success this time it worked.

I posted what was essentially this question in another thread and received an answer that seems to say that it was not necessary to do so and that all the user in WMP files are already stored on my computer, but they did not specify where and I was unable to locate so using this method took my mind at rest even if she turns out to be useless.  If I find out additional info I'll update this thread.

    Hope this has been useful.

  • Songs do not appear in the Windows Media Player library

WIndows Media Player 12 adding not songs

I got my new PC with Windows 7 this afternoon and more than 10,000 songs completely copied into the My Music folder.  None of these songs will appear in the library of Windows Media Player 12 songs. My Music folder is one of the libraries of WMP to default save location.  Only 3 songs are appearing in the library, and those are the three on the Public Music folder.  Yet when I add a song to the public music folder, it is added to the library. Then when I close WMP, and re - open, we are back to 3 original songs!  I spent an hour with HP support tonight and didn't get anywhere.  I tried the system restore.  I tried to restore the library.  I think that my WMP is maybe damaged.  Any thoughts on what I'm missing here?

I read this on another topic, try it.

  • I have music files in my playlists that I can't make it appear in the Windows Media Player library

Original title: Player Windows medis library - Playlist trouble

-J' have music files in my playlists that I can't make it appear in the library - how can I sync the two up - I tried the usual fall / drag...

    Hello

    1. is the specific issue of the reading list?

2 are you able to add other songs in the Windows Media Player library?

3 did you changes to the computer before the show?

The Player library is the location in the player that lists all of the music, videos and photos on your computer.

When you play a media file on your computer or a removable storage device, the file is automatically included in the Player library, so you can access it directly from the reader. And if you have access to remote media stored on other computers on your network, you can change the player settings to add those files remotely to the Player library when you play them. The reader does not automatically add a file that you play from removable media, such as a CD or DVD.

Since you aren't able to add songs to the library, you can try the following and see if they help.

Method 1: Open the troubleshooter in the Windows Media Player library

  • Media Player library

How can I move music from iTunes to windows 7 media player library > all the research I did only make me move the music to the playlist. I can not move from the playlist to the library either. Just playing them does not add them to the library. I have also moved into my office, but can, t move from there either. Help, please!

Hi - I'm back with a refreshed brain cell!

The reason why you can not see "create mp3 version" will be because the settings have not yet been changed! (I forgot which yesterday.)

Open your iTunes player... .in the LH window click on 'Edit' and select 'Préférences' from the drop... a box will appear.

In the lower middle section cd you will see "Import settings" - click and in the upper drop-down list (using the side of the small arrow HR) select "MP3 encoder" and then in the box below, you can choose what quality convert you to. You can choose which setting to use here... I'd certainly go for 192 Kbps , which is the highest speed offered directly. Personally, I use the "custom" setting - another box appears and offers a full range - I use 256 Kbps * which is comparable to the typical rate of a downloaded title. Click OK to exit the boxes when it's done

Now when you right click on one of your songs, you should see "create mp3 version" - this on all ten titles you have purchased and I really hope that they will be included in wmp. (If it's not there is a decoration of library who need adjustment!)

I hope that this law will finally! -Ric cheers
