• Anyone running Windows (Vista or 7) with a SSD having problems with Windows Update? FIXED *.

  I ask this question because I have now two computers with this problem.

  A computer running Win7 and it used to work with the SSD but recently I wipe the drive and reinstall the OS and now it will not update windows.

  The second computer is a laptop with WinVista final.  This machine, I have improved since a physical hard drive to an SSD a month ago.  This time, he made Windows update without problem.  Now all of a sudden it will also not Windows update.

  A third computer in my house that runs WinVista on a physical drive will be the Windows Update now without any problems.

  So the only link I see is the SSD...

  I replied to your other thread on this issue, but in the case where you'd miss it, I copied and pasted what I wrote here.

  FIXED!

  My laptop is fixed and is installing new updates (I probably Jinx it now and it will come with an error).

  What I did ask the help desk where you chat with a microsoft technician, they take control of remote access from my laptop, and after about an hour of playing around with it (I tried to follow what they were doing - many command prompt and things) they have restarted and said it should be good now. I was very doubtful, because it just shows the same page hanging so thought I would not want to go back and ask them again the next day, but I left it overnight and here this morning there were some updates 208 ready and waiting!

  The technician was really helpful, they offered me paid a pension of microsoft (I think they must do this in standard), but I politely declined and they were wearing on fixing it free in any case for me!

  They gave me a few options also, they said that if they had done did not work, then I could try searching with an ethernet cable (sometimes a more stable connection is all you need) or if it does not, they offered me a newer version of windows 7, which had all updates already downloaded if I wanted to do an OS reinstall everything (I said I prefer not the) do that but it was nice to have the option, if everything else has failed). They also said they would offer phone support for free all the reinstall if I need assistance.

  He also confirmed that they solve this problem a lot and it was certainly not an error at the end of microsoft, or anything to do with the SSD/HDD, etc..

  Overall, really impressed with the service of help desk, I highly recommend asking them if you still need help. Go here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/contactus?wa=wsignin1.0# and click on "services and applications" to open a window where you can chat.

  One thing though, once that my laptop had found all of the updates, I clicked on install and it came with the error message 80240016. I Googled, followed the instructions on this link here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/windows-update-error-80240016 and it worked perfectly the second time around.

  Just to confirm, now that I've finished writing this post, my updates have completely installed!

• anyone running on CentOS 5 6 WCS?

  I ran into a problem trying to install and run the WCS 6.0.132.0 on a new install of CentOS 5 (2.6.18 - 194.3.1.el5.centos.plus)

  After properly installing WCS by using the option "-DCHECK_OS = false ' I tried to start the service of WCS with the startupscript as root, but got the following error:

  the only mistake I can interpret is the "can not start Xvfb', but my google thing not performance no results for this question, then:

  PS: I realize that this isn't a supported Cisco OS, but I would try it before falling to RHEL

  Editing/etc/redhat-release should allow WCS start.  I run ours on CentOS 5 and I had to make this change.

  Just comment out the line CentOS and add the following Red Hat line.  You will probably need to be root to do this and

  It may require a reboot.  I also after execution of updates to CentOS note that usually back the file changes

  and WCS does not restart.  I keep a copy of the file on the server's desktop, then copy it on after the updates.

  I have not noticed any problems running on CentOS, just thought I'd throw that out there.

  Keep an eye on the side esxtop ESX and see your % RDY meters in this output.  Don't forget, as underlined chamon, with high vSMP values do not match always the best performance.  Typical scenarios citrix/ts use 1-2 vCPU for more effective results.  If you bump up to a larger number of users, you also want to watch the overcommitt on your processors and vCPUs in the box.  Many users a lot of switching and use heavy context on the processors for the management of the OS and the user.  1-2 vCPU seems to be the sweet spot.  What kind of applications are underway within the environment?

  could you please send me some details about your tested XIV config. We have 2 XIV installed since last week but are running in some numbers. When connecting more than 12 or 13 VMFS XIV stops 'responding '. Storage Vmotion is to expire, migration of vm is still not working. We see some delays start using VMFS 6 volumes in 7. Our goal was to 34 volumes served by 48 ESX servers (target approximately 600 VM). Could you tell me what was your config tested in terms of number of ESX servers and mounted VMFS volumes. The behavior occurs with VMFS big or small VMFS volumes. The same thing happens not only with the CF, but also with iSCSI.

  Were the only config works is by putting a virtualization of storage between the ESX and XIV. (we tested Falconstor and SUN Comstar). Direct connect ESX XIV gives us the problems.

  I am running 4.0.2 with Oracle 11 g R2 EE on Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 and the beta of 11 g Oracle XE on Ubuntu 10.10 and APEX 3.2.1 using VMware Fusion. Perfect for R & D and training, but not production systems. You can do all sorts of things with VM you wouldn't do with a real server.

  I have the opportunity to purchase a Cintiq for five years at the speed of editing on my w520. It requires a DVI connection. There must be DisplayPort-DVI adapters but it that perhaps this device will make different demands on the connector. There is an another USB cord reqired and I guess this is the path for the signal of the pen.

  WACOM won't talk about the details until I am the owner, even if I already have an Intuos5 tablet.

  Thoughts?

  the cintiq use DVI only for signal display, so I see no reason why it wouldn't work with an adapter.   stylus input are driven entirely by the USB bus.

  on a side note, I use an intuos4 daily and have not yet moved to the intuos5.   I'm curious to know how you like your 5 so far.   They seem to be getting mixed reviews (but always happens with new products ).

  Decided I would try ReadyCLOUD after hearing news of the change around 6.5. But when I connect with my MyNetgear on the NAS login, it turns a little and responds simply with:

  "Impossible to attach the device to ReadyCLOUD. Your device may be misconfigured. Please email [email protected].

  I have done the necessary but reacted... lack. Has anyone run into this and know what may be the issue? Willing to work through it, but that requires a real response from the end of Netgear.

  When I turn on the internet, I have an iexplore.exe which uses a lot of memory, more than 200 000 K and one that uses very little of 15, 000 K.  I also seem to have a running explorer.exe.

  Anyone running Windows XP has "explorer.exe" running - it's the office.

  When iexplore.exe is, assuming that you are sure that the two tasks are spelled the same and both are run under the same user account, and then if you have upgraded Internet Explorer to version 8, the reason for the two instances of iexplore.exe is the new browser uses a separate process 'iexplore.exe' for each currently open tab. If you start your browser, you will automatically have two processes, one for the main browser window and one for the first tab.

  Microsoft has implemented this technique in Internet Explorer 8 to accommodate a more effective process to each tab priority. An example would be if you were listening to streaming radio in a tab and the surf in another. The tab that has your focus can and will take precedence over the background tab and cause the radio to cut or even stop. In the new Internet Explorer, each tab has its own procedure that allows equal priority over time CPU and not let not another tab steal the processing time for an another background tab.

  If you don't have IE 8, then you probably have a malware problem.  Download, install, update and run each of these two free scanners.  Do not run both at the same time.  Each will take a while ends, then start it up and then go for a non-it chore.

• Warning of safety running a SWF file on a computer when you access the internet

  I want to distribute a SWF file to run on computers, not the internet.  However, I want to be able to access the internet through a link that is controlled by a button.  This used to work, now I get a security warning telling me that I need to change the settings on my computer.  For obvious reasons, I don't want anyone running the SWF to have to do that!

  Under Windows, I can create an EXE file that does not have security WARNING, but on the Mac which won't help.  Any suggestions?

  Yes, you can, if you run and work with them independently, IE. you don't share projects between each version.
  If you intend to do, you should be aware that each version has its own understanding of the format of the .jpr and .jws files and maybe convert.
  Also, be aware that ADF BC could not be shared between the JDev versions.
  You can even share project codes with .jws and .jpr files for each JDev version currently in use, you could even share the same.
