Appearance settings

Someone went and changed my appearance at the "windows classic style" settings When I tried to change this back to "windows XP style" I eventually found the desktop icon text in a rectangular blue. I remember before all these changes, the text icon was just white floating on the desktop (or, if you want, the text was in a light background). How can I change this back? Help please!

Beryl

Hi once restore you the classic style windows follow these steps:

Right click on my computer-> properties-> advanced-> sub tab performance click settings from-> slot-> use Visual effect set to improve the appearance and apply. Probably, it works if not check or uncheck some boxes in the shade, then apply.

I hope this helps...

  • Change the appearance settings to take my windows turns blue instead of white

In windows XP, I used to be able to change the appearance settings to make my windows (ie. excel worksheet, word documents, outlook e-mail body) light blue instead of white. I can't find how to make the same change on Windows 7. Any ideas?

Here are the steps I used to do in Windows XP to make the change:
Do right click on desktop--> click on 'Properties'--> click the 'Appearance' tab--> click bottom right the 'Advanced' button--> in the "point:" drop-down box, I would choose 'Window'--> then I would change "color 1" to a shade longer than light blue "»
The same steps do not work in Windows 7, and I can't seem to find where to go to change the color.
Light blue is much easier on the eyes when you work all day in front of the computer, so I really want to find a way to make the same change in Windows 7. Thank you!

How to change the color of windows in Windows 7:

Right-click on the desktop, click Customize, click on "Window Color" at the bottom of the pane, click on "Advanced appearance... settings". ", select the list box window drop-down element, click Color 1, click other and type these digits from left and from top to lower left and then right at the top on the bottom right, click OK, click on apply.

Why not do a system restore. Take yesterday or the day before, as your restore point.
    How will that help.

Start button > Search box, type system restore > press the Enter key > uac prompt > click on choose a different restore point > next > select dates as your restore point, until the click > next > finish
To sit and wait. The machine restarts when it's done.

  • Window appearance settings went irreversible to classic windows!

So I just opened my laptop and saw I had the classic windows theme. I tried to go back to vista Basic or standard, but it keeps telling me that "the Visual styles could not be applied. I looked at some forums (seems to me that the problem is seen quite often), but I seem to be the only one where the theme reset in the management of the computer does not work. Whenever I'm trying to choose a vista theme, the preview is all black and it keeps giving me the same error message. Help someone? (I just did the "microsoft fix it' thingy for aero, and he told me that my version of vista does not support aero.) It's funny, it did until yesterday...)

If that's what you were doing and it did not help, here are my suggestions:

1 do a system restore. Choose your point of restoration a few days ago.
