Apple airport network problems

Hi, I have a network that worked for a while, but has stopped! My main internet connection arrives on a new time capsule airport which also set up the wireless network, I have an other time capsule and an express airport connected by ethernet to extend the network and add the network wireless to other areas and adding printers. I also have 2 several base stations of the airport to add a wireless access and wireless printing. I just added the ethernet connections to the other capsule of time and the Airport express. All additional elements of the airport which the second capsule are all set to extend the wireless network and all have their channels set to automatic. I'm losing access to the base stations and the network keeps dropping out. I wonder if I need to change the setting on the devices that are connected via ethernet? I used ethernet as the stall kept wireless signal. Do I go about this good sense is there a better way to ensure that I have good signal all over for the wireless so having 2 x backup and wireless printing? Any help / advice appreciated.

I just added the ethernet connections to the other capsule of time and the Airport express.

And, when you did... do you have your remember to first reset the Time Capsule and AirPort Express back to default settings... then... establish the Ethernet... and then... reconfigure the devices 'extend through Ethernet?

IF... the Time Capsule and AirPort Express were previously configured to "Extend a wireless network"... as you enter... and you simply added the Ethernet connection to devices... This will create a massive feedback loop and crash efficiently your network.

Today I started having problems with my home network that worked for a couple of years now without any problems. The network is based on a 5th Gen Time capsule as the main with a router number of secondary devices providing a roaming throughout my home network that is to say a 2nd Time Capsule Gen, 2nd Gen Airport Express and 1 st Gen Airport Express all connected by ethernet. The problem my wife initially reported that its Macbook Air was not connected to the internet. When I used the Airport utility to see what is going on he has reported that all secondary devices cannot be found. At the same time, I found that my MacBook and our iPhones and an iPad where no connection to our wifi. I said to THE forget secondary devices and then tried to switch the power to them to see if they would then appear in Airport utility, but without success. If I turn on secondary devices that they do not appear in UA. If I try to use configure other... in UA to access secondary devices it does not appear to be able to communicate with them.

I don't know if it's relevant or not, but I remember that, on 21 August, I discovered that Time Machine did not all backups since 15 August and I restarted the primary time capsule by activating / deactivating the power. Since then, Time Machine seems to work very well.

The main time Capsule is set to use back to my Mac.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Apple has had some recent problems with Back to My Mac, which seem to have been resolved, but still there may be consequences.

For now, please turn off Back to My Mac on the Time Capsule and let all other airports shut down.

Check that devices can connect to the Capsule of time properly, and that backups are properly trigger.

Once it's done... and assuming that the devices can connect at the same time Capsule correctly... Turn on only other airports and check to see if the devices can connect to the airport "extended" and also if it will appear in AirPort Utility.

If so, then start another airport and test the same way.  Continue to turn on airports and tests as you go.

If the entire network is power back up and running new and get the rear Capsule and work as well as your main Mac. Back to My Mac to reactivate and check that devices can connect to properly Time Capsule.  Then, turn the other airports, one at a time to check each of them before you turn on the other.

However, if one of the other airports will not work properly or it does not appear in AirPort Utility, then you have to stop at this point and after return.

  • Multi airports network problem

I have an acting express airport as my internet gateway / firewall/router for 5 other airports that are each the clipping value. It works fine for a while but on a regular basis one or more additional airports gets 'out of sync' and needs to be reset to restore the functioning of connections wifi devices. All airports are 'green', even when not give ip addresses to wireless devices. Each airport has a static outside the DHCP range, but compatible with the network ip address. Each has identical wireless, security and bridge settings. I eventually addresses DHCP or router set in a way that is not ideal for consistent operation? See the screenshots below (1 global configuration, two are the "fiber" gateway/DHCP airport, two are from one of the additional airports):

It is apparent from the first screenshot that all the base stations are connected to the "fiber" by Ethernet, except 'the barn stables', which seems to be connected by radio to the base station "barn." Is this correct?

The 2nd generation AirPort Express stations base having only two Ethernet ports, you also use Ethernet switches into your current network configuration? If so, where they are placed in this global configuration?

What is the brand and model of the Internet modem or gateway that you have the base station "fiber" connected to Ethernet?

Finally, your needs networking requires a network of comments as well running?

  • HP Color Laserjet 3800 Apple Airport Extreme problem.

    HP Color Laserjet 3800.

    Mac OS Lion.

    IMac and macbook Air.

Improved Airport Extreme newest model of much older model. Now, I can't print from my office iMac and MacBook Air via the wifi on my HP printer connected to Airport Extreme USB port.  Seems to send the print job to the printer, but the printer message 'data' and then hangs until I press the button "check", how to print a page that says "ERROR: FAUTIVE COMMAND timeout: timeout".   Prints fine when connected directly to the computer via USB.

Your printer has an Ethernet cable connection?  If so, connect directly to the AirPort Extreme with an Ethernet cable, which should work.

If only USB port only in the printer, sometimes it is useful to restart the printer and the router, created a new printer queue and try again.  If you still have the same error, then we will have to continue the investigation

  • Apple Airport express records is not on the wifi network

HI, I bought an Apple Airport Extreme new several months and I haven't connected my Airport Express so far. For some reason, the Airport Express is same does not record on the network. I unplugged for several minutes and plugged in. I don't know if there may be a software update that I missed?  Someone had this problem?  I would be grateful for any help. Thank you! Chuck

If you have not reset the Terminal AirPort Express to settings by default and then set up again to extend the network provided by the AirPort Extreme... so now may be a good time to do this.

As it is, the Express is not "appear" on your network because it has not been provided with the settings to do.

If you need some advice on how to get the Express running... we will need a little more information from you as follows:

    (1) your AirPort Express Terminal has two Ethernet ports... or... does he have one?  If is has one, we need to model on the side of the unit number. It starts with an "A" followed four digits.  For example... A1264.

    (2) AirPort Express Terminal will connect to the network using a permanent connection to the Ethernet cable wired to AirPort Extreme... or... the Express will connect wireless?

    (3) what device you use to configure the AirPort Express Terminal?

    (4) If you have a Mac, we need to know what operating system they are running. If you are not sure about this, click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen, then click on about this Mac and post back with the Version of OS X number that you see there.

  • Cannot print with HP6840 since I added the password to the Apple AirPort Extreme network

I recently added to my Mac Airport Extreme network WPA password protection. While I can access the network from my computer, I can't print a HP6840, one of my two wireless printers, even if there is no problems prior to the addition of password.

I can always print to my old HP LaserJet 6MP using an AppleTalk-Ethernet bridge and managed to reconfigure my second wireless printer to work with the new password.

    I already tried the following:

Uninstalled/reinstalled the original CD and more recent software/drivers HP printer

Tried to printer configuration using the Ethernet - half thanks looking for printer, received an error message "Communication error with a printer" and the installation process has failed.

Checked: Safari bookmarks / Hello: printer does not appear

Computer and the printer turned off and restarted the computer

    None of these attempts succeeded.

Any suggestions on how to restore my wireless printing?

    Thank you.

Mac OS 10.5.7 iMac with Intel processor

I spent 3 hours on the phone this morning with the HP Technical Support. While the call cost me $35, it's probably money well spent. After trying all kinds of approaches to installation, we finally concluded that the villain was probably the combination of personal WPA2 to authenticate password on my network and the inability of the HP6840 printer (now almost 5 years) to support WPA2. Tech said that WPA2 wasn't around 5 years.

So I have two options: delete the password completely and let my unprotected network, use a WEP password (which can create an Apple AirPort and the printer can recognize) or try a WPA password. However, it seems that the airport offer only WPA-Personal and WPA Enterprise, while the printer does not seem to accept the WPA.

Even if I don't really relish change passwords again, it seems that WEP is the way to go.

Hope this helps those trying to install old printers on the new networks.

  • Apple Airport Extreme and new FIOS router - problem

Hello, I have an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11n base station, which worked well with a Comcast router.  When you set up with Comcast router, I set the router to comcast to bridge and the Airport Extreme has done all the work as the main router. When I switched to Verizon FIOS today, I get the typical mistake of NAT double (that I did with the Comcast before configuring the router to Comcast to bridge).  However, the tech support guy FIOS said that was not an option, so he set up my Airport Extreme in bridge - router off mode mode.  This really live to the top incoming access using SSH, Timbuktu or the Apple screen sharing, given that I can't assign fixed IP addresses to the computers on my network and can not use the Airport Utility Network Port settings to open "pipes" for a particular computer.  In addition, I'm more comfortable using Airport Extreme, rather than things FIOS. Someone at - it other than enter Comcast suggestions?

I did a search and didn't see a post on this in the discussion forum.  Thank you

What is the brand and model of your router Verizon? Verizon provides you with administrator access to it to allow you to make changes?

  • HP Photosmart C4795 with Apple Airport Extreme Wireless router - cable PC problem

    Hello

I searched, but I can't quite find an exact match for my problem.

I have a new HP desktop computer running Windows 7, and I attach it to my wireless router which is an Apple Airport Extreme.  I have attached my HP C4795 printer to the USB port on the * router *.  In theory, the USB key should pass through, so that the office will think it's a printer "connected", while also allowing us to print remotely from our laptops (via the router).

Unfortunately, while portable computers can print wireless very well, the * office * Guard 'lose' the printer, thinking that it is in offline mode.  Even when it shows 'online' (after my relocation via "Add a printer"), still error-out print jobs.

Can someone help me understand how this works?  The printer works fine, btw, if I disconnect the USB cable between the router and plug directly to the PC, if it isn't something directly with the printer or the desktop, but rather the * combination * of running through the Apple Airport Extreme router.

    Thank you

    Terry

    Thank you, once again, Jim.

I think I have stumbled on the solution.  I did a reading online on Apple application 'Hello', and how he felt necessary for Apple devices, like the airport, knit with device sharing.  I forgot that the installation of the airport disk had said something Hello installation, but I discovered on my Wired HP Win 7 PC menu programs, called 'Hello Printer Utility' or something, and I launched it, selected the C4795 in the dialog box, and all seems to be put in place (i.e. the printer suddenly showed as 'online' and I could print from my desktop wired as well as wireless laptop).

    Success!

Thanks for all your help on this.  Now, all I need is to get my WD My Book external/sharing the hard drive to work as well!  Unfortunately, I do not see here a "Hello Hard Disk Utility", but I feel somehow that morning will be the answer.  I just understand it.

    Thank you

  • Invited with 2 airports network expansion

I have a Time Capsule 802.11ac (used a router with DHCP and NAT) and an extreme recently added as an extension of the network.

I configured the extreme through the Airport utility to expand the networks via a connection time Capsule wireless net of ether. I have configured the router out of the box with the utility Airport a few weeks ago and everything seemed ok. When the update to Airport utility and Firmware was released this week I updated the two airports (now at 7.7.7) and Airport utility.

Who broke the network extended comments. In my opinion, he was working before the update, but it was not much used. After the update, the primary network of comments Time Capsule airport operating normally as before. But when it connects to the network invited by the extreme mode bridge, my devices that all get a self assigned IP. Apparently, broken updates bypass DHCP.

I have reset the extreme at the defaults and it reconfigured several times with Airport utility, but it still does not work.

To summarize the network is Time Capsule (DHCP and NAT) with the network comments-> Extreme (bridge with network feedback mode) connected by ethernet. The main wireless network works on the two airports. The distance between the Airpotrts is 3 floors and about 60 feet, so that they do not interfere with each other and the networks may be extended wireless only via ethernet.

Has anyone another considering also occur after the recent updates? Before?

I contacted Apple support, and so far, they are puzzled. The technicians were not very familiar with the expansion of network of comments and intensified the issue to engineering. I believe that the recent update may have caused the problem, but not sure.

I solved this problem. When you use Ethernet, you must have a direct Ethernet connection between airport expansion and airport router (no switch between the two). Now comments from both airports network functions.

  • Laptop stopped seeing Apple AirPort Express

    Hello

I'm having a problem with the Wi - Fi with Apple Airport Express (http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/). Windows XP on my laptop Toshiba Satellite M70-339 PSM77E this is crushed about 4-5 days ago and since then he stopped to see the network Airport 4 days ago (but it can still detect the other networks). I think something in the network settings changed on my laptop. That's what I have:

1 there is Airport Express Mac and a PC laptop Toshiba Satellite M70-339 PSM77E with Windows XP Home Edition.

2 mac sees the Airport network (and some other neighborhood networks). It is connected to the Internet and it works fine.

3 laptop with Windows XP stopped seeing the network 4 days without any reason (but it can still detect the other networks of neighborhood, so the material is activated and it works). I had the network works for about 6 weeks. When I first tried to find the network (about 6 weeks ago) I had the same problem: the laptop could not see the network, but then I worked I had a few other internal network settings in my laptop after I removed it, it detected the Airport network. I even used Express Admin Airport utility (or sth like this) to set the WPA security for our network.

    4. to solve my problem now, I tried almost everything I found in apple.com forums and some other related forums this issue, but it seems that this problem is usually solved by chance.

    5. I tried to repair the network connection (by selecting repair in the settings), I removed the networks all the favourites, I had, I disabled all firewall, I tried with different laptop computer IP configuration (I know that he doesn t have nothing to do with the detection of the network, but I was frustrated). I even updated my WiFi drivers and the laptop cannot always detect Airport network (However it can see all the others who are in the region). There is no interference between the laptop and the Airport (the problem doesn t also depend on the distance between the laptop and the device).

Please give me suggestions. Don't forget the laptop used to detect the network without any problem, and the Internet worked well.

    See you soon,.
    Jakub

    Hello Jakub

You will be very happy if anyone has experiences with Apple Airport Express and can offer a concrete solution. After losing question have you tried to roll back OS to an earlier time using System Restore tool?

When the OS works well and stable it is always good to create system restore points or do some sort of backup image. I do this all the time and I'm not worried if something goes wrong.

Sorry, Jakub, but if you can't find an answer or solution on the apple forum I really don't think you will find it here. The fact is that the WLAN card works, but how to set it up with Apple Airport Express. I don't really know, but as you said already, maybe you need a chance.

  • An Amazon fire TV Stick can join a wireless Airport network?

An Amazon fire TV Stick can connect to the internet via an Apple Airport WiFi network?

It should work... but I strongly encourage you to get rid of the names of apple...

Use all the names that are short, without spaces and pure alphanumeric characters.<10 characters.="" do="" not="" use="" apple="" recommended="">

Also, use changes to comply with the above... but may be > 10 characters if you are paranoid.

Still have questions try locking channels 2,4 ghz to use no security just to test... If he still refuses to connect when other clients in the same place can then you are facing a more serious problem.

  • Airport network - difficulty to its replacement by a component of roaming

I have a roaming (ethernet) Airport network.

Cables/modems (UBEE of TW) - Airport Extreme - out ports WAN on Time Capsule and Airport Express (also connected directly to the radio). Configuration, as far as I know, conforms to Wi - Fi base stations: how to install and configure AirPort Express for AirPlay and iTunes - Apple support>

The Airport express was old and keep people with their streaming music dropped. So I had a new Terminal Airport Express 802.11n.

I can add it to the network - but as soon as I do, the internet connection goes down. When I remove it, the internet connection is up.

I can't understand what could be the problem; the old Airport Express does not cause this problem with the internet connection.

    I'm under El Capitan.

    Lisa,

This type of problem occurs when the Express is first set up to connect to the network using Wireless... .and then the Ethernet connection is applied. In other words, the Express waiting for a wireless connection but it also gets an Ethernet connection... and this creates a massive feedback loop that effectively blocks the network.

    Please, try the following:

Turn on the Express for a minute or two

Maintain in the reset on the back of the Express button until you see the yellow light starts to Flash quickly, hold a few seconds when it occurs, and then release the reset button. Give the Express a full minute to restart again.

Make sure that Ethernet network cable is connected to the "O" on the Express WAN port

Click the WiFi icon at the top of the screen of the Mac, and then click directly on the AirPort Express Terminal to start the configuration "Wizard". The first screen that appears resembles the illustration below, except that you will see your devices and the network name is displayed.

Type a short and simple name that you want to use for the Express

    Click next

Now, look at the following screen to confirm that the Express is set up to extend using Ethernet. It is the confirmation that the Express will be configured correctly.

When you see the message Setup is complete, click done.  And you're done.

  • ARE remote with Apple Airport Extreme router wireless

Hi all! I'm controlling my DA5800 STR using the Remote ES app but neither my iOS device sees the receiver OR my Sony Android Tablet S. So I figure it must be the network set up. I use a cable modem Motorola connected to an Apple Airport Extreme via an ethernet cable. The receiver is connected to the router, as shown in the manual.

    I'm doing something wrong here?

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hello Sandiegodom,

Please check the network settings on the receiver ARE and confirm that the 'external control' is active, as well as the "relief network" that will allow the application ARE the 'waking up' the unit from standby mode.

Also check that your phone is connected to the same wireless network, and IP addresses of the phone and the receiver are in the same subnet / IP Range. UpNp must also be enabled in the settings of the router.

If you have verifed that these settings are correct, then the question is perhaps with the router where it does not send data to the local discovery of uPnP network devices. A simple power reset or resetting the router will sometimes force the router to send back data and should fix the problem if that is the case.

  • Presario 2175US not able to connect to the radio after installing Apple Airport Extreme router

Hi all.  I have a Presario 2175US portable computer that is running Windows XP SP2.  The wireless adapter is a Broadcom 802. 11b / g WLAN adapter.  We have recently installed a router Apple AirPort Extreme in our House, with a network WPA2 key, and while the wireless network is visible on my laptop, when I try to connect, it tries to connect for about 90 seconds, but fails.  Unlike other laptops that we have, it does not ask me to enter the network key before trying to connect.  If anyone has a solution to this problem, I would be very grateful.  Thank you.

Thanks for the comments, Paul.  I am pleased to say that the problem was solved after I installed the Windows XP SP3.

  • Mesh Wifi LAN with hardware Apple Airport?

I read recently about the benefits of wifi mesh networks. I looked at several highly rated router mesh systems; but I don't know if I could not do the same with a system based on Apple Airport extreme and several Apple Airport Express routers.  Does anyone have an idea on the advantages/disadvantages of each approach?

Trick question that depends on what you mean by "mesh".

It is not difficult to set up a "roving" network with Apple devices, which is a form of network "mesh".  All airports using the same name of the wireless network, the same level of wireless security and the same password.

The theory with this type of configuration is that wireless devices can "switch" from one region to the other and still stay connected to the same network as they change to take the best signal from the nearest airport.

Usually, it works pretty well with the Apple laptops.  But not so well for not at all with most of the PCs, iPhones, iPads and other mobile devices... a fact that most of the articles seem to leave out.
