• Installed build 5.1.0a vcenter number has not changed

  ISO, I improved 5.1.0 to 5.1.0a Vcenter.  Simple installation wouldn't work so I installed all the separately from the components.  Upgrade went to and I rebooted.  Now, when I check the build number in Vsphere client it says still 5.1.0 build 880146.

  So I try to install it again, but now I get that remove\uninstall options.  The build number is the problem?  Anyone can check their version number after installing 5.1.0a?  It should be 880471.

  We did an upgrade on place of 5.1.0 to 5.1.0.a. The build number does not change when you click on "Help-> About" (we also 5.1.0 880146) but if you look in install logs and you will see that the versions of the files have changed even if the build number property does not have the versions of files.

Other indicators of success, it's that if you surf to the VirtualCenter new and download the vSphere client, it will install the files for a new client with the 860230 build number.

  If you are using XP Home Edition, the built-in Administrator account probably doesn't have a defined password. You can start in safe mode, where this account will be selectable when connecting. It allows to connect and change the password of your normal connection.

  To start in safe mode, keep hitting F8 twice a second after turning on the PC until you get the start menu where safe mode is selectable by the up/down arrow keys, and then press ENTER.

  If you are using XP Professional, try to connect using the built-in Administrator account. You don't need to do it in safe mode (although you can if you wish). If your normal login screen is a display of the user symbol and hit ctrl-alt-del twice to get to login to text entry. Type administrator as the user name and try a blank password.

  In my opinion the best solution is to confront your local dealer with this problem. If I were you I wouldn't waste time. Unit is fairly new, warranty still valid and unit should operate.

  Perhaps is there some problem with electronic supply power.
