Apple mail app

A great feature for this mail app would be a touch sign in for each time you open the mail application. This would allow privacy and security for those interested.

Suggestions for Apple go on their feedback page, http://www.apple.com/feedback

Apple does not participate in the forum here, this is a user to user support forum. Security for the iPad is handled by the access code for the iPad. Currently, Apple does not and has never supported passwords for individual applications on devices.

  • Answer Apple Mail app error

I have an annoying problem with the Apple Mail Application.

When I want to reply to, or forward an email, instead of opening a window with the old email attached in order to continue the conversation, the application opens a new window of (empty) e-mail. Then, I can not remove this new email without closing the mail, at which point mail sends an error message. The only way to cure the problem and make the answer and the front buttons work properly is to restart the computer. It is a 6 month old MacBook Pro, with the current IOS installed. Problem persisted for a few months now.

    Hey there crispiandenby,

I understand that you have a problem with Mail. It seems that this question cannot be linked to your email account or the service provider, so let's try a different approach to solve this problem. I want you to start in Safe Mode, and then test the behavior here:

  • Mail.app: S/Mime encrypted attachments do not work under MacOS Sierra

    Hello

I can't send or receive attachments when messages are encrypted with S/Mime since the upgrade to Sierra. Attachments sent and received on a MacOS-El-Capitan is available on El Capitan. But the same messages with attachments is more available on Sierra, as well as new messages with attachments sent from Sierra can be viewed on El Capitan or Sierra. Looks like the handling of encrypted attachments is completely screwed.

The indication for messages with encryption and signature is still flaky and is not consistent.

The indications for encryption and signing is a bug for years. What is interested in someone at Apple Mail.app and S/Mime? It doesn't seem a Herculean task to do things, and it is a core feature.

  • Keep changing to red all the flags in Apple Mail

When I use indicators to tag messages in my Apple Mail app, they all end up going to red. It happens when I change to another folder and come back or after I exit and restart the application. Hey scottyincali,

Thank you brining your color of flag of changing the questions here mail in Apple communities. I can offer some troubleshooting steps, but without having some information isolation for this issue, we cannot immediately solve.

The first thing we need to know is if the problem occurs in Safe Mode and a Test user. Safe mode will tell us if the problem is related to an element start or plugins. A Test user will let us know if the problem is related to your account, or at the system level. For Sade Mode, please open this article: try safe mode if your Mac does not start-up. Once in Safe Mode, test and see if the problem still occurs. If this is the case, please go and make a Test user. You can make the user Test while you are using safe mode. How to test a question in another account on your Mac user. You will need to configure the e-mail account, download the mail and test here in the test user.

Now use what we found of such isolation measures to solve your problem. If the problem occurs in Safe Mode and Test user, you can try to reinstall the OS and see if that helps. It will not destroy your personal data, but it is always recommended to have a backup using Time Machine in case of unforeseen problems. You can use this article to help make a backup: use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac. Once you have the backup, use this article to reinstall Mac OS X. How to reinstall OS X on your Mac

If questions remain after a reinstall of Mac OS X, I recommend that you erase the hard drive, which will remove all your personal data and reinstall Mac OS X without your personal data on the computer. This article will help you: wipe your drive and install OS X. If the problem does not occur without your personal data on the computer, you want to migrate the data to the computer. Do not restore from a backup like that will likely bring the matter immediately in. This article will help you: move your content to a new Mac by using the section "use the Migration Wizard.

If the problem does not occur in Safe Mode or the Test user, I recommend contacting AppleCare to contact Apple support, because there are several issues to check to fix that, and they have more options available to help you resolve it quickly and easily.

    See you soon.

  • Apple Script to apply rules in Mail.app

    • I've created some rules in my Mail.app to change the background color of specific messages
    • And I also created rules in the mail server in order to move the messages to a folder

For messages in the Inbox folder, everything is fine.

But if the message has been moved by the server rule in another folder, then rules the Mail.app do not apply (and reasons twisted, this is normal: https://support.apple.com/kb/PH19162?locale=en_US & viewlocale = en_US).

Then if I apply the rules manually by pressing Command + Option + L < code > < code >, Mail.app rules will apply as they should.

I want to automate this action. Is it possible with Apple Script? Can you help me with this? The steps would include, I guess that:

    1. Choose the smart folder "today."
    2. Select all messages in this folder;
    3. Perform the action "Rules" for selection.

    < pre >

    using terms from application "Mail".

    Tell application "Mail".

the value of the message_count in HOW-TO-GET-MESSAGES-FOR-TODAY-SMARTBOX County

Repeat with i from 1 to the message_count

the value this_message to article i of MESSAGES TODAY ' HUI-SMARTBOX

    say this_message

-That's something like the RULES APPLY

    tell the end

    end repeat

    tell the end

    end using terms from

    < / pre >

If it is not possible for a smart folder, then I want to do, it goes all messages in all mailboxes mailbox (or with messages in the specific mailbox).

Apparently, this is not possible as long as such action is not be scriptable.

  • Mail App removed from iPhone6s

The Mail App is removed from the iPhone to my husband 6 s. How do we get this back. I tried to reset the home screen and the tree Mail search in Spotlight.

  • Mail app crashes after updating iOS 10

I've just updated to iOS 10 on my 4 32 GB iPad. The Mail app often closes unexpectedly. I have no problem to use it again, but it's boring. Since this is an Apple app, I can't uninstall & install again. Any suggestions?

You have rebooted the iPad? Hold down the sleep and home buttons until you see the Apple.

  • Mail app: can't see the IMAP shared folder in iOS10

Since I updated my iPhone to iOS10 I see the shared folder of the IMAP in the Mail application. IOS9 until the Mail app displays all folders shared IMAP that you were able to subscribe. It was dependent on the setting of the IMAP path prefix. Even I have try different settings I don't recognize any different behavior.

I have found no comment from Apple for this.

Someone at - he noticed the same problem? Is there an attempt to solution?

Same question, very exasperating.  I noticed one thing was that if you delete the account and start over, shared folders are there, at least initially.  If you leave the app and come back later, they are gone.  I suspect that a prefix is stored in the application state that prevents later shared folders to be seen.  I noticed that other applications also have problems, see the shared folders, including by aircraft and shipping, though.  I really liked having access to those from before this update - difficulty please!

  • iOS 10 Mail app - threads are impossible to read with style answer-everything Outlook (without quotes)

Outlook and the Mail app both old showed you a list of e-mails in a thread; If you want to dive to an email, you must click on this email.

The new view of thread is essentially impossible to use now, since there is no view that shows each email in a list. Instead, if reply - all on your e-mail service does not add to citing it vertically and mark a horizontal line between the contextual emails, you end up seeing the WHOLE thread in each individual e-mail. It's 100% fine if you also have a vision where you can see every email truncated in a list. But this is no longer the case.

I'm going to have to cut the wires completely from my computer (Outlook) is impossible for me to read in the current state.

100% behind you! Please Apple, can we have an option to make the threads as they were in the iOS 9? It was actually a useful feature. In iOS 10, it is completely impossible / a lot of your time!

Even if the quirks have been developed and e-mails would collapse correctly it is always not very useful when you have long filaments (which, when you use mail app for email to work can happen in the course of a single day with 20-30 + emails).

  • Apple Mail starts whenever I receive a new Message

I own a MacBook Pro and have all updated as much as iOS and go my apps. Since the last update a week or two ago, Apple Mail opens by itself whenever I get a new email!

This is very frustrating, because I quit Mail and then some time later a new email arrives and Mail again!

    Help, please!

    Hello mariosapoel,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If I understand your message when you receive a new email on your MacBook Pro, it opens the Mail application. In a situation like this, I recommend restarting your Mac in safe mode and then restarting normally again.

Follow these steps to start in safe mode.

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
    3. Release the SHIFT key when you see the logo Apple appears on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, this may take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your office. This is because your Mac performs a check of directory of your drive to boot in safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

  • Apple Mail display

I'm on El Capitan, 10.11.6, and today I must have clicked when I shouldn't have and post display settings have changed.

I run in the standard view, and my setup is that my Inbox list appears at the top, and when I chose a message in this list, I am able to read the message in the Panel below.

    Somehow, this lower panel disappeared.

I have the small point on the edge of bottom of page of mail, the point, I should be able to enter with the cursor and re - open my control panel. When I mouse over the point, the cursor changes to show that I should be able to raise the issue and reopen the Panel. However, nothing happens when I try to move this point.

I checked my e-mail preferences, changing back to the classic view. I closed and restarted Mail and even restarted this iMac. Nothing has worked.

    Any siggestions?

    Thank you!

    Hi there, darrylfromfairfield!

Thank you for reaching out with Apple Support communities. Based on your post, I understand that the preview pane of your e-mail application is no longer visible. You can see the separation line with the point at the bottom of your Classic view, but if you try to pull up from the bottom, nothing happens. I live in my Mail application and rely on the preview pane, myself, so I definitely want to help!

In fact, I ran into a situation similar to what you describe personally. To fix it, I had to click on this point in the separator, then drag at least half to the top of the mail before the preview pane window became visible again. I encourage you to try again, making sure to keep dragging until the preview pane is visible; You may need to slide further to the top of the Mail application window you initially visited.

If by dragging the separator at least half (or more if necessary) does not have the preview pane visible, I suggest to leave the Mail app and opening again while now Shift.

    Have a great day!

  • Apple Mail 9.3 (3124) slow to move, delete or send messages

Hello, I would like to know if anyone can help please?

I use El Capitan 10.11.5 with Apple Mail 9.3 and feel the slowness in the mail application when moving, deleting or sending a message. I have that on behalf of a configured email which is an iCloud account.

For example, if I delete 10 emails in my Inbox there is a progress at the bottom of the left pane bar say moving message 1 to 10 and it could take as much as 5 minutes to complete. Meanwhile, although emails are moved from the Inbox, if I click in the trash emails aren't there and by clicking New in the box receipt displays the ten new emails. They remove afterwards, but it takes a long time.

Email is the same. Once I click on send, e-mail is displayed in the Outbox but is sometimes as long as five minutes. The funny thing is that I get the test email on my other device almost immediately so email quickly leaves the mac, but seems to be getting hung up in the messaging application.

That's what I've tried so far: a new installation on a clean formatted drive to El Capitan followed a restore time machine of my data, programs and settings. I tried to remove bin records to sand e-mail: ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail and ~ / Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent. I deleted these files one at a time and disconnected and turn it back on after that every one but did not see any performance increase. I tried logging in iCloud, completely closing and restarting, then signing in iCloud but had no luck.

May I ask, someone else see this behavior before or have any advice or fixes please?

    Just for the record, I use an iMac 27 "mid-2010 i3 16GB.

I'm grateful for any help I get.

    Thanking you in advance.

    Alex
