Apple Mail rules keep free to delete after E-mail-Reluanch
I had this problem since El Capitan went out and none of them updates have resolved this issue
every time I have an amendment to the rules of apple mail or make a rule after the closing and reopening of apple mail deleted all my custom rules
I noticed that apple mail refuses to create a file named "MessageRules.plist".
the only basis of rule files that I find are:
and they only contain the default rules as spam & new Apple when I try to delete one any of these rules and reload the apple mail they just don't back it is as I have no power to change the rules in apple mail or create my own custom rules. as soon as I simply deleted and sever, recorded in a file called MessageRules.plist
is there a way to fix this? I need my rules but apple mail completely refuses to save my rules and I reset the mail from apple several times...

I use Apple Mail to download my Gmail via IMAP (Apple Mail 9.3, OSX 10.11.5).
The problem is that my Gmail account is complete. To free up space in Gmail, I want to delete messages from Gmail, but keep them locally in Apple Mail. How can I do? I guess it's the server settings, but I don't know if I need to tinker with the Apple Mail, Gmail server settings, or both.
I tried to delete the messages in Gmail, but Apple Mail sync with Gmail and delete them locally, too.
Activate the sidebar of accounts, so you can see the hierarchy of depot.
You should see a section here which says on my Mac. Click to show it, then right click to add box to the letters it. Call it something like old Gmail 2008-2014. Now you can select your old Gmails mainly Gmail Inbox and sent boxes and drag them to this mailbox on my Mac (folder). I tried to delete these boxes several times in many different ways, but no matter what I do, they just keep reappearing.
I have 1) clicked and deleted several times; (2) I deleted their through Finder; (3) I've disabled my email accounts and tried to delete the boxes (of which some were successful with apparently); (4) I changed the behavior of the mailbox by the United Nations - by clicking on and then re - clicking deleted emails put in trash box (which some suggested online).
I have no idea what to do next. I have discussions with Apple, but I thought I'd try here to find a solution to this aggravating problem.
OK, I've figured this out.
When I imported the messages from Thunderbird to Apple Mail, I've initially diverted to mbox files. I then imported them in Apple Mail through the import of Apple Mail function. I made the mistake to include the mbox files related to IMAP accounts. After hours of trying to delete it, I tried the above suggestion. I deleted every internet account including iCloud. Then I deleted mailboxes mailbox imported that were related to IMAP accounts. It worked, and recreate the standalone mailboxes are now gone.

I use El Capitan 10.11.5 with Apple Mail 9.3 and feel the slowness in the mail application when moving, deleting or sending a message. I have that on behalf of a configured email which is an iCloud account.
For example, if I delete 10 emails in my Inbox there is a progress at the bottom of the left pane bar say moving message 1 to 10 and it could take as much as 5 minutes to complete. Meanwhile, although emails are moved from the Inbox, if I click in the trash emails aren't there and by clicking New in the box receipt displays the ten new emails. They remove afterwards, but it takes a long time.
Email is the same. Once I click on send, e-mail is displayed in the Outbox but is sometimes as long as five minutes. The funny thing is that I get the test email on my other device almost immediately so email quickly leaves the mac, but seems to be getting hung up in the messaging application.
That's what I've tried so far: a new installation on a clean formatted drive to El Capitan followed a restore time machine of my data, programs and settings. I tried to remove bin records to sand e-mail: ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail and ~ / Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent. I deleted these files one at a time and disconnected and turn it back on after that every one but did not see any performance increase. I tried logging in iCloud, completely closing and restarting, then signing in iCloud but had no luck.
May I ask, someone else see this behavior before or have any advice or fixes please?
Just for the record, I use an iMac 27 "mid-2010 i3 16GB.

When I use indicators to tag messages in my Apple Mail app, they all end up going to red. It happens when I change to another folder and come back or after I exit and restart the application. The first thing we need to know is if the problem occurs in Safe Mode and a Test user. Safe mode will tell us if the problem is related to an element start or plugins. I have a mid 2013 13 - inch MacBook Air with OS X 10.11.5. I regularly use the Apple Mail as my default email without any problem client. I also use Safari as my browser main opening only Chrome sometimes when I have a problem with a particular Web site. I have my email of company through Mail and use gmail on Safari for my personal e-mail. I worked this way for years. Suddenly in the last two weeks, if I click on an email link in Mail it opens in Chrome. I'm in Mail preferences and default mail software is Google Chrome, even if I never made this change. I then change the e-mail by default back to Mail reader and exit preferences. I then click on a link in Mail and maybe email, it opens a window of response in the mail, but often he has already been restored to Google Chrome, in a few seconds. Closing and opening of mail does not solve this problem, also using the "Select" feature in the drop-down list the default e-mail reader and choose manually the Mail of my Applications folder does not resolve this problem. I know how it is important that your default e-mail and browser settings work correctly as well. I suggest to start in safe mode and see if you can make changes here. Check out the following steps: try safe mode if your Mac does not start-up
Start in safe mode
Follow these steps to start in safe mode.
- Start or restart your Mac.
- As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
- Release the SHIFT key when you see the logo Apple appears on the screen.
After the Apple logo appears, this may take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your office. This is because your Mac performs a check of directory of your drive to boot in safe mode.
To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.
If safe mode doesn't resolve the issue, try uninstalling Google Chrome and then put it back. I hope these steps help!
I have recently started using iCloud as my primary e-mail for IMAP and SMTP service. However, I always have my e-mail account non-Apple of active origin with a setup of the redirector to point to my iCloud email. I also put my answer use the original non-Apple e-mail. This configuration works very well except that the e-mail rules don't seem to work on forwarded e-mail messages.
When you use the iCloud SMTP server, from Apple Mail or from the site from iCloud, you can use your @email@example.comfirstname.lastname@example.org TSA address address "from". You cannot use a different, non-iCloud, email address.
My laptop runs on El Capitan... all software are up to date. Apple Mail periodically deletes messages from my Inbox, with no assistance from me. I can't find any setting to change this. I was not able to use my mail since Dec. 30. ! Talk to seniors to Support Apple daily, but they are waiting for answer of Ireland engineers (or elsewhere)... I'm about to get totally freaked because I am an editor for the web-sites/magazines thre. I made a new user, but it takes too long to come and go between the two accounts, and I'm not really interested in transfer all to the new user, as I have my system on the first. I use a mobile router also and if I have to download everything once more, he eats gigabytes.

The new version of Mail stores its database in a different format that the old, so the database must be converted before Mail can use it. Sometimes, the conversion fails because the old database is damaged, or because of a bug in the conversion code.
What you should do depends on what type of e-mail accounts you have. The first step is to back up all data, if you don't have a current backup.
A. Si you know that you have IMAP or Exchange only e-mail accounts
The easy way to recover is to delete the old database and start over. You can do this without losing all the messages, provided that:
☞ All your incoming mail accounts are on an IMAP or Exchange Server
☞ You store messages sent on the server
☞ You have no mailboxes "on my Mac".
Independent mail services the best-known as iCloud and Gmail are inspired by the IMAP. On the other hand, hosted by ISP e-mail services often use pop. If your ISP is one of your providers of mail services (or the only), you cannot use this procedure. See the section below in this case.
If you know that the above conditions are met, please continue to do so.
Quit Mail runs. Back up all data.
Open your home folder's library folder by pressing the option key and selection
Go ▹ library

What happens when you try to attach something?
If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account. Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the United Nations to the Installer application or instructions to uninstall using the developer. I converted about 10 POP IMAP e-mail accounts. In the process, I lost thousands of emails associated with my ISP email accounts. It was really my fault... water under the bridge.
It's bad enough, but the worst is Gmail. I never use Gmail online. With pop, I just received messages via Apple Mail and delete or remove messages on my MBP.
Now, after having converted the IMAP accounts, I get all gmail messages I've ever sent or received, down, responsible for Apple Mail and I can't understand how to stop them. This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don't be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

Delete the Mail from the login items list, then restart your Mac.
Select the check box to the left of the mail, and then click the - (less) button. That will keep the at startup launch Mail app.
