    Question:

I've got ~ 140 iMacs with 13% to appear in my Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) scans as having correspondence name vs DNS name of the network.

I suspect this affects refusal to license for our products Adobe CC. How can I clear the fields name DNS ARD again be filled properly?

    Hi gwanupnorth,

After checking with file-> Refresh in ARD Admin and there are still agents machine correct without DNS:

-Check in the list of the scanners of ARD Admin, if the machines of 18 or more are detected it with the correct DNS name.

-If Yes, click on each one and update the username: password: and it should update the corresponding entry in all computers.

  • Why is my Apple remote desktop not send software upgrades as it should?

    Apple Remote Desktop Help?

In apple remote desktop there is command-line unix where I can send the command softwareupdate - install - all, and I do as user root on an administrator account. My problem arises when I send the software update and ARD never Specifies if yes or no updates have been installed successfully, it just says: Update software tool. I know that it is not to install the update either, because when I look at computers I see pending updates. I'm new to the apple support and appreciate any help in this matter. Thank you

    have you tried:

    Send the command as root

    the "softwareupdate d-i - a" command?

Try issuing the command to one computer at a time. If you issue it to 100 computers. Your network can choke on the bandwidth required to download all the updates to those. Keep in mind that softwareupdate is for upgrades of the OS; It will not install the updates of pages or other app store apps.

If the command works, you'll probably want to restart the computer. If everything is working properly.

  • Apple Remote Desktop tries to connect to some weird areas

Firefox and osx elcapitan 10.11.4 15E65

It's so weird that lately my ARD tried to connect to areas randomly I searched on the web. Little Snitch reports she's trying to connect to 'gist.github' and the other day he tried to goto "krampus".  As I said it's strange behavior since it's the kind of thing I entered in google.

    All advice is appreciated.

I would be a little surprised if Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) have been connecting the specified web sites, you can post what Little Snitch reports as the source and the destination of the connection?  Also please post what version of Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) are you using?   3.8 (A 380, 95) is in course, at last I checked.

My general recommendation is to remove Little Snitch - this is a great tool, but it also tends to cause problems when network connections are blocked by mistake, and it's certainly excellent fodder for causing paranoia.

Adware and malware can cause this, but - if you connect to these sites and don't have adware or malware or any sort of anti-virus or anti-malware, or other similar types of tools tools additional loading - I guess it's OS X hides a tile or such.

Here is a previous related discussion - even if it is not of the ARD.

  • HELP "ARD" (Apple Remote Desktop)

If you use apple remote desktop, you will have to enter the username and password for the computer you are trying to connect to? And can connect to windows computers?

I'm getting a mac soon and I wanted to know this answer.

You very probably will not use Apple Remote Desktop and screen sharing.   Cost of Apple Remote Desktop ~ 80 $US on the App Store.   Customer screen sharing and the server are all part of Mac OS X.

Apple Remote Desktop works with OS X devices.   As does screen sharing.

Screen sharing requires to authenticate in the target system.

If you want to access on Microsoft Windows screen sharing systems, acquire a copy of the cord or other similar packaging.

  • A heartbeat of Remote Desktop Client configuration

I have two Windows 7 computers: one is located in a remote location, and the other is in my office running Desktop Client (mstsc.exe) remotely and is connected to the "remote server". I only need to interact with the server if it generates an alert, otherwise, I just need to keep an eye on the remote screen.

If the link to the server goes down due to the instability of the network or a power outage on its end, the RDP Client will not display no error until I try to interact with the RDP session - and then it will take a few seconds before the session expires before the Client determines the server does not respond and tries to reconnect.
This means that unless I noticed that the RDP window has "frozen" or I move the cursor of the mouse on it, I often can't tell I've lost communication with the remote computer.

Is it possible to configure the remote desktop client to continually test if the connection to the server is active when I a RDP session works without having me manually interact with the RDP session?

  • Cannot start more Apple Remote Desktop

    Hi all

    All of a sudden I can't launch ARD 3.8 (A 380, 95) in El Capitan 11.11.4 more.

Whenever I try to launch it on one of my Mac, I get a warning telling me that he was able to start "because of an unexpected error" (The Remote Desktop software is not installed properly, or the computer may require a restart).

It affects all user accounts (so it's not a corrupt user pref) and reinstall the entire system through the complete installer does not help.

I can use the screen sharing app good...

After reading an old thread to similar problem (software Remote desktop administrator could not start) I tried to delete all the preferences and support for files following the instructions on the Apple KB page , but it did not help.

I also checked the Console, and it reports:

    22/03/16 10:02:46.888 AM Remote Desktop [5905]: OpenConnectionToAgent - cannot connect 2

    22/03/16 10:16:36.035 AM ARDAgent [6057]: libcoreservices: _dirhelper: 400: mkdir: path = / var/folders/zz/zyxvpxvq6csfxvn_n0000000000000/C/modes [2] = 0700: permission denied

    22/03/16 10:16:36.035 AM ARDAgent [6057]: confstr(3) on _CS_DARWIN_USER_CACHE_DIR returned an error.

That could indicate a problem with sandboxing, but still, I see WARNING similar to this one with different applications on different computers without consequences (I suspect the sandboxing allows logging quite talkative today). I checked the cache folder, he was referring to and did not notice anything on the spot or missing (comparing to another computer where work ARD).

If anyone has a suggestion... I would be eternally grateful

    Corentin

Of note... I had to replace the drive on the Mac recently and I wonder if it could be a kind of incompatibility of recording equipment. Not sure where that would be stored well and correct uninstallation of the application, following the instructions in the kb should have taken care of that.

  • Apple Remote Desktop (3.8.5) on several network interfaces

    Location:

Running Office at distance between an iMac and a Mac mini, both running up-to-date El Capitan.  ARD version 3.8.5

Both computers are on two networks, the WiFi network including the internet connection and is therefore "primary" and a wired machine-to-machine ethernet connection.  WiFi and ethernet are on separate subnets.

In Didier, ARD 3.8.4, the Remote Desktop on the Mini app would announce (on Hello) as 'Active' wireless and wired interfaces, and from the iMac, I could choose who I want to use.  Usually the cables, connection gigabit ethernet to reduce network activity on WiFi.

After these two machines 10.11.2 and ARD 3.8.5, update the Mini looks like 'Active' on the WiFi connection and 'offline' on the connection wired and is the remote desktop will not connect via the wire link. (no change with 10.11.3)

I tried all combinations of options, I could think of to try to force the 3.8.5 on the Mini ARD announced as 'Active' on the wired connection.  Until beginning with no network connection, at all, on each machine, with all remote management and sharing turned off, re-boot both systems and leaving the disabled WiFi connection.  All to nothing does not.

Paradoxically, file sharing works great!  It's just the Remote Desktop/screen sharing (Yes, I tried also, all possible combinations) will not announce or connect to the wired connection.

When the two networks are active, sharing on the Mini preferences show the IP address for the primary network (WiFi) as well as the name (Nimitz.local) of the computer.  However, if the WiFi connection is not active there is no IP address displayed and the ".local" does not appear in the name of the computer.  It appears as just "Nimitz" not "Nimitz.local".

I went through all the / library, folder ~ / Library, looking for whatever it is possibly connected to this issue.  I opened the files, checked the files, replaced the files and deleted the files without result.

So my question is: how to do Remote Desktop or screen sharing to connect to the wired interface?  I'd rather not try and go back to Yosemite and ARD 3.8.4 if possible.

    Thank you for your patience!

    Kyle

App for screen sharing, it must use the wired connection if you Set 1) Ethernet on your system of Viewer to be the first interface in system preferences-> network-> gear-> Service order icon set... and 2) to connect to the target by its IP Ethernet address. Remote Desktop is the MAC address of each computer and combines the addresses into a single entity. Most likely, the second computer that shows 'offline' is a file incomplete or dead. I would like to delete it. ARD promotes the address who has worked both previous. In theory, you can turn off WiFi and connect once via Ethernet and it will remain.

  • Apple remote desktop ActiveDirectory integration

    Hey team

Sorry if this has been requested, but when you use ARD can macs always integrate in to Active directory.

IE Can I bind the mac client to AD and by using ARD to manage

Also apple configuratior also fits with ARD

    Skip

Where you're going with this question?   Can you give us some information more on requirements or expectations, if I've not guessed correctly by the following?

ARD is not particularly related to or dependent on Active Directory.  There were a few bug fixes over the years to allow the ARD work in an AD environment, though.

Apple's Configurator is a tool that can load profiles on iOS devices and is not particularly attached to nor dependent on Active Directory.

    To be complete...

ARD does not access or display of iOS devices.

iOS devices have some features of the LDAP client, but as far as I KNOW, something like Centrify Express would be necessary for iOS with Active Directory integration.

Apple Configurator can manage iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and Apple TV (2nd generation or later) devices, but not OS X.
