Apple TV remote control glass broke when dropped

Recently, my husband bought our second Apple TV, an upgrade of the first edition, we have purchased four years ago. We are customers of long-time Apple and have always possessed several Apple products. We both like the updates to the new Apple TV with the exception of the remote control. There are a few things we don't like about the design. First, our remote fell of the couch on a ceramic tile floor and broken glass. Accidents happen, and I dare say that it is going to be a lot of unhappy customers when they abandon their distance and it crashes. I will say that if the remote was dropped on the carpet he probably have come out unscathed. The remote control fell to the back of the sofa at a height of about three feet. I think that the remote control must be able to survive a fall like that or maybe Apple could consider designing a case or neoprene as the channel to the remote control. The other complaints we have are things that we have learned to adapt to. Remote ginning glass is well issue and because Apple products are on the pricey side (I had to replace a laptop charge cord twice - $80 a pop - compliments of our puppy) we have not yet checked the cost of replacement.

Yes. It is a delicate user in my opinion not the real world tested. There are other posts on the topic, and I saw the new cases that occurred just as we have for our other handheld devices.  I think Siri remotes are also about $80...

I will also mention that the old Apple TV remotes work with the new ATV as well - except Siri.  In fact, I use remote money or my universal remote control harmony more than the included remote control of Siri (I can't find Siri on tvOS it useful - still).

My new Apple TV remote loses its charge when idle for a few days. I was sure to leave load for at least 9 hours, as suggested. It only is not heavy use until the battery goes down.

I have never accused mine when I had and used it for about a week.  No problem.  It seems that something is wrong with your charger or the battery of the remote control.

  • Break glass a very easy Apple TV remote control

We bought a new apple tv 4. Now after 2 days because the remote is so happy, he eludes easy hands.

No problem with any remote without glas.

Apple use a glass so thin and weak that it will break after a decline of only 1 meter high on the floor. This glass is so strong, that our employee cut his hand.

We ask this through the present apple to change the design of this remote, so it is safe to use.

When we look at the remote control, it can be folded very easy.

It is a factory engineer bloop.

It is not necessary to go into an endless debate.
Yes, this remote is very slippery

Yes, this glass cut in a hand of people picking up the Earth.

No we couldn't use the loop because different people would use this RC.

No, we didn't have 2 left hands.

This info is to protect other people and hope that apple will change this issue of quality.

  • Apple TV signals Siri remote control as support when it is disconnected from the charger

I just finished my Siri to load remote - it was down to about 50%, so I loaded for about 6 hours with my iPhone 6s charger.

I now have it unplugged from the charger, but the Apple TV still shows the State remotely like loading when it obviously isn't.

I tried to reset and re-twinning of the remote with Apple TV, but the State has not changed. Is there a way to fix this, or does take some time to update (maybe needs battery to drain a bit with use)?

    I have corrected this now.

There seems to be two conditions for State of charge reliably updated when you have finished filling and want to disconnect-

    (1) make sure that you are on the Bluetooth - screen remote controls and devices with the battery icon on Apple TV

    (2) make sure that your charger is turned on when you unplug the connector of the remote control lightning

I found that if the charger is turned off before I log out (which is something I usually do think its safer), the icon is not always up to date.

  • Two Apple TV - remote controls works with both at the same time

Just bought the Apple TV 4, this means that I moved my old version 3 Apple TV in the room, when I use a distance the two Apple TV now respond. How can I connect the remote control for the Apple TV right, to keep them from harm?

    Try this:

Désapparier money ATV3 the remote control by pressing menu and left for 6 seconds.

Block the front ATV3 and remote peer with the ATV4 the silver medal by pressing menu and right for 5 seconds.

Block the front ATV and press menu and the central selection button for 5 seconds

Unlock the ATV4 and check that it does not meet the silver remote.

Block the ATV4 and unblock the pair by pressing menu and right for 5 seconds and ATV3.

    Check the ATV3 now responds.

Remove the block of the ATV4.

  • Why not Apple TV remote control IR signal power?

ALMOST everything MY Gen 4 Apple TV can do. He turns on the TV and can control the volume of my audio receiver via IR

Then why the hell can we use the same IR function to activate the receiver as on and off so?

Looks like a fairly simple function that would be pretty easy to impliment through IR control sampling as is the volume control. And then just implement that Protocol in the sleep unit as is the HDMI control.

Oh & the Remote App should really be able to send a command to sleep for Apple TV

The pieces are there, but not quite put together :-/

  • Remote control/software Apple TV with the App Store problems

Seems ridiculous that a Sept 2016 4th Gen apple TV purchase has the same problems of connectivity with the App store. Impossible to connect, or even choose App store, or spare parts offline, erratic, glitch and acts as a problem of distance, but seems to be a software problem or interface. Obvious corrections or ideas to stabilize or least to increase connectivity to app store with 4th Gen Apple TV/remote control?

No problem of connectivity with a 4th getting Apple TV remote here... Sorry, you encounter this problem with it.

  • Unplug the apple TV apple tv 3 remote control 4

    Hello

I hope that someone in the community can help me.

I have 2 apple TVs in the House-3rd and 4th gen gen.

They are in the same room. If I use the remote 4th gen, all right, the remote control is not to influence the old apple tv.

But the reverse does not work. If I use the remote to control the Apple tv 3 3rd generation it also wakes ups the new apple tv too.

How can I separate the systems? The remote gen 4 is very good but I need to disconnect the 3rd generation away from the apple tv 4

Would this be possible? I tried the menu + left option of the remote control, but he did not like the apple TV4 does not react to this topic.

    Thank you very much.

    Kind regards

    Markus

Follow this exactly, and your problem will be solved:

Two Apple TV - remote controls works with both at the same time

  • remote control stops working

I have a 600PC Touchsmart with TV tuner comes with a remote control to control TV channels / volume... etc.

It worked well for about 12 months. Now, the remote control works well when the PC is first turned on, but then stops working after about 20 minutes.  Only, it works again when the PC has been activated and turn it back on.

I replaced the batteries and the remote control - but this happens again - which leads me to think that this is a problem in the PC itself.

This may or may not be connected, but at the same time - the wireless mouse has stopped working and I had to buy a different mouse wth a wireless transmitter, connected to a USB port and now works fine.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

    Hello jjf23,

To see if it solves the problem, follow these steps:

    1. "control Panel."

    2 system.

    3. "Device Manager."

4 expand "controllers of Bus USB"

5 right click on each of the items listed individually and select 'Properties' for each item. If there is a "power management" tab click on it. Make sure that the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power " unchecked.

6 click on "OK" and "restart" your computer.

If they are not already checked, simply reply with it.

    Thank you

  • Remote control rocket?

Sorry if I say something stupid, but is - it a remote control for the "rocket", like those of the iPod? Thank you very much

    Yes, there are...

SanDisk offers a dock that will work for the "rocket", and includes a simple remote control.

When I said "simple", I mean there is only six buttons:

    Power

    Play/Pause

    Forward Skip/Fast Forward

    Market back/jump backward

    Increase the volume

    Turn down the volume.

The remote control will not work unless the "rocket" is in the dock, and the audio will come from dock, NOT the headphone connector.

The dock can be used to synchronize the "rocket" with your computer, or it will work without the computer at all.

Try this link for more information.

(I'm assuming that the rule is "no advertising" suspended for SanDisk products..?)

Surprisingly, there is a photo of the remote on this page... ??

It'S included with the dock! I own one, and I bought it direct from SanDisk.

    Have fun

  • Apple TV Remote broke right out of the box

So I get all excited on my new apple TV.  While I'm implementing on the ground plug control box I put the remote on a chair next to me and hit the Chair and the remote hit the ground.  It had never been used and is now cracked.  How can we if fragile a remote control and how can a remote be half the cost of all the Apple TV system.  Just doesn't seem fair.  Guess I'm $ 70 for a new remote.  Is there another remote solution out there?  Is there a way to protect the remote control?  Could you please add a warning on the package so that people are aware of the fragility of this unit is?

I see now after researching the topic that I'm not the first to this experience.  Please let me know if Apple will provide some form of compensation for this kind of accident.

    Thank you.

    Sonny Sr

We are users like you here, for the most part, not Apple.

You've been unlucky I'm afraid and there is really no different from a new iPhone drops and it cracking if you think about it - at least in this sense is not Apple fault so naturally, you don't want to drop a phone new or old for that same reason.

I would be surprised if Apple would compensate you for being clumsy - I do mean that badly - I dropped my remote Siri repeatedly and were probably lucky that it won't break.

Are you sure that the remote control has not been damaged before he fell?

You can use an old silver AppleTV remote but it would not have the touch surface.

Yes, there are protectors, do a Google search and you'll find things like:

    http://AppAdvice.com/appnn/2015/12/protect-your-Siri-remote-with-the-Griffin-sur soft-play

Think of it as to stop flying out of your hand when you play a game - I was petrified that a five-year prcocious was going to hit my new TV a few months ago.

    ctor-for-your-Apple-TV-Siri-remote-photos/ http://9to5mac.com/2015/11/02/Hands-On-with-Apples-Remote-Loop-the-13-HDTV-prote

Frankly Apple are a bit stingy are not - it would cost peanuts to provide looping protection with the remote control.  (The kind of things that you got with the free Wii controllers).

  • Apple TV (3rd generation) remote control suddenly stopped working

I used aluminum remote on my 3rd generation Apple TV for years without a single issue.  Then last night, after working fine most of the evening, it simply stopped working.  The first thing I did was to get the distance within two feet of the Apple TV, and then I was able to make it work.  To me, this indicates a battery is weakening, so I replaced it.  Same problem: Apple TV does not remotely, unless I get very, very close.  Just in case, I got a new battery, I tried a second.  Same question.

I did a bit of digging in the community forum, and here's what I've tried:

-restarted successfully the Apple TV via the software and then again just unplug the power cord and wait 10 seconds, but the problem persists.

-successfully paired and re-paired remote control, but the problem persists.

ATV shows a solid light when I push buttons, unless I come to this beach to two feet and then it flashes once as her answers ATV.

I have looked on the IR through the camera of my iphone, but don't see any red flashes... and yet the ATV receives the signal from the remote control if it is close enough.

Curiously, as part of my diagnosis, I noticed that the "UP" button had become insensitive, even from the beach which work the other buttons.

I have not dropped the remote or mistreated it somehow, so can't see why it would break suddenly without reason.

    I'm puzzled.

    Your troubleshooting sound research.

I would buy a new remote from Apple and try it.  They are $19.00.  If she is doing the same, the receiver IR of the ATC is responsible and return the new remote control within 14 days for a full refund.

If it works keep the remote control.

  • Why is it not possible to use SIRI on my apple TV remote to control the HomeKit products? I should be able to control all the devices with my Apple TV remote and SIRI HomeKit!

Why is it not possible to use SIRI on my apple TV remote to control the HomeKit products? I should be able to control all the devices of HomeKit with my SIRI voice remote control and using Apple TV!

If the new apple TV can act as a concentrator HomeKit and I use SIRI on my iPhone to control my locks, thermostat, lights, etc. Why am I not able to do the same thing with SIRI via voice commands on my Apple TV remote? When is this going to work?

Also, when Apple will come out with a response to the echo of Amazon? I've tired to wait... do it already! If you build it, they will come...

  • Problem remote control Apple TV (not the App)

    Hello

I have an Apple TV (3rd generation) and the remote no longer controls.  I have it odd and paired again, but still does not work.  I downloaded the Remote app, but that does not give me access settings, and that's what I have to do.  We changed provider Internet and the need to configure it with the new password, so he goes on the network... Any suggestions?

When you say that the remote control does not work, to what it means? It is not recognized? It is not a click? Installed new battery?

I was using the Remote with ATV 3 years app and it works beautifully. If it is coupled?

  • I have two Apple TV. The remote control that interferes with the other. For example, if I press stop on the distance she also those other programs. How to do this?

I have two Apple TV. The action on each distance affects the other tv. For example if I press stop on the remote control will stop the program on the other tv to. How can I stop this from happening?

Easy.  You must associate each ATV with one of the remotes.  Each ATV is not paired and will 'listen' to any distance.

The trick is to cover before the other ATV when matching so the two do not listen.

Silver or white remote control: pair or cancel the twinning of the Apple Remote with Apple TV (3rd generation or earlier)-Apple Support

    Siri remote control: http://help.apple.com/appletv/#/atvbc9953e63

Don't know what models you have the ATV, but the whole process is the same:

    1. choose a remote control and an ATV.  Cover the front of the another ATV.

    2. hold the remote control in 3 inch they recommend, pair it with appropriate above process.

    3. choose the other remote, unlock the first ATV and block that you just paired.

    4. hold the second remote control 3 inches from the second ATV and pair it with appropriate above process.

    5. release the first ATV and enjoy.
