Application of optical drive CD/DVD of R500

Hello

I noticed that the R500 series has some models that do not have optical drives. They have the slot to add one if necessary later. for example. The R500-126 has the 64 GB SSD but no optical drive. If I buy and decide later that I need to use an optical drive, I can buy a slot or even borrow one of my friends model R500 that understood?

Congratulations in advance.

No, they don t have a slot to add a disk. They´re delivered without the disc in order to improve the battery life and because the SSD drive needs an IDE connector that is available only on the side where the optical disk drive must be.

You can buy an external drive and work with it.

Welcome them

    > a cd got introduced in the drive and I can't, then you need to replace the CD player in my laptop.

You are not able to open the CD/DVD drive.
There is a little near the eject button.
You will need to put a small wire or another object in this set to eject the CD or DVD.
It is a last option if the eject button does not work.

PS: in the manual of the laptop you should be able to find information on compatible CD/DVD players.

  • (Redirected) Alienware M17x R4: Windows7 not detecting SATA DVD/CD internal optical drive, game dvd stuck inside.

Hello, I need help here because I can't really understand what causes the problem.

I inserted a BioShock 2 legit installation DVD, and my CD/DVD drive does not detect. I tried to take the drive by pressing the eject ODD button, but nothing happened.

Under 'My Computer' my drive does not appear.

In Device Manager, it does not show any CD/DVD player either.

    Control of my computer

I took a lot of steps trying to find out what is happening, and I thought it was a problem of software based.

Ran the Dell diagnostics, Fix It, started and checked in safe mode and pretty much everything what they advised me to do in the guides.

One step, I am committed not, where do I look for the registry subkey 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}' and change the filters upper and/or lower, because there is no filters to change.

    Photo of my registry editor

The last step, I got added the following subkey to atapi in regedit.

When you pull up my laptop, I hear my work in the car. During the ejection of pressing, looks like she is about to eject the disc, but nothing has yet come out.

The CD/DVD drive is recognized in the BIOS but does not appear in my device manager. It becomes clear to power. In the BIOS, it mentions "SATA ODD MATSHITARV11 Downloader". It is also displayed in Intel RST.

I don't have that a single HARD drive on my laptop, and in my BIOS my SATA operations are on RAID. It would make a difference if I switch to AHCI? Could it be a loose connector causing this problem of detection for my OS? If so, isn't weird that my BIOS is always detect? I am able to boot from the CD/DVD, but when I do just start of my storage drive as he always does.

    Any ideas?

  • HP 1270 DVD optical drive does not work on Windows 8

Original title: Windows 8 and optical drive HP DVD 1270

    Hello

I waited a few months and tried all means to get my HP DVD 1270 (Sata) optical drive works on Windows 8 and can not.

I tried different suggestions from members of this forum, but NOTHING.

If I re - install Win8 it will 'see' the drive for 24 hours, then disappear and not be reviewed.

The same drive is always available in XP Pro, Vista Ultimate, and Win7.

I hope that the long-awaited service pack will address this problem because it's a matter of Windows 8, which must resolve.

Try to go to: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html . Enter the computer information they request and download and install the necessary drivers/software for windows 8. Hope this helps and if you need any additional aid station and we will be happy to help you.

  • Roxio Creator OF 10.2 detects NO optical drive!

Hi, I received my portable Studio with Roxio Creator OF 10.2 pre-installed on it. However, I was not able to burn any disk up to the date that the program does not detect the optical drive (Optiarc DVD +-RW AD - 7640-S). After the loading of Roxio, it does display a message "No drive detected" at the bottom of the application window. It is running windows Vista Home Premium SP1. The optical drive works normally on all occasions however. I would be grateful if anyone can help.

    Thank you!

Alternatively, you can try to install the following. It worked for me.

  • Need help finding a compatible optical drive for lenovo b50-80

I ordered recently the b50-80 of lenovo laptop for my mother and I thought wrongly that it came with an optical drive. I tried searching online to see who can be compatible with it. But, I don't have a lot of experience actually shopping for one. The seller has recommended a couple, but I was also wondering if one of my old laptop drives would fit maybe? Focusing on internal versus external. All advice is appreciated!

    Hello.

    Welcome to the forums.

If you want an external optical drive (CD/DVD/Bluray player) I'm pretty sure that any USB key will be compatible with your computer and Windows 7.

I also checked onthe support for this model siteand searched the Manual of Maintenance to find an internal version of the DVD. I'm not complete of course know if, but if you check page 71 the #12 part seems to be the internal CD/DVD. It seems that FRU 25215832 is compatible with the B50-80. You should ask the price of this part (FRU) number and please confirm that this is the guy you want.

And read the Maintenance Manual page #34 if you plan to install it yourself. Otherwise, you can always hire your local Service Center of Lenovo to get the part and install it for you.

  • Optical drive internal appearing as a removable device

I recently bought an operation of Dell Latitude E6420 used Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - bit (SP1) and I am also very happy with it. But after I finished installing all the drivers that have been recommended since the Dell Web site, he developed an unusual problem: the optical drive (PLDS DVD +-RW OF THE - 8A3S) appears as removable material, even if it's not, and if I "eject" it, I need to restart the system before it works again.

This did not happen before on this machine and is the first time that I've ever known a problem like that, never. My mother and a friend also bought the same model at the same time - there is a similar problem on my mother (also Win 7 x 64) machine but not on the computer of my friend (8.1 Win x 64).

I figured that maybe that's a problem of driver, but re - install the driver from the optical device and even do a system restore didn't fix it. I also found some information of Microsoft Windows Hardware Dev Center Archive, which States:

    Incorrect configuration of SATA

Incorrect configuration of SATA may appear in the following situations:

    • If the system incorrectly identifies a SATA port internal as external, Windows disables LPM on this port, and therefore can not save on the port. In addition, Windows treats the internal non-removable device that is connected to this port as a removable device. For example, it appears in the device safely remove dialog box in the toolbar State system and in devices and printers.
    • If an external SATA port is not properly configured, it is possible for a device that is connected to the port to be considered non-removable and therefore do not attend the safely remove an instrument dialog box in the toolbar State system and in devices and printers.

If an internal SATA port is incorrectly configured as a port external SATA, a system vendor or administrator can fix without updating the BIOS OF THE system or the Windows software.

To work around this problem, you can disable external SATA support on a per track basis by setting the value of the TreatAsInternalPort registry key to 1, and then restart the system.

If the system has internal and external SATA ports, but a device that is attached to a port internal SATA appears in the dialog box safely remove devices in the system tray or in devices and printers, you should reset the registry key for the port.

I could not find the registry key mentioned and I am reluctant to change the registry without being certain of what it is I'm supposed to do. Someone solved a similar problem and any help please?

    Hi, Fatima.

I think that most portable DVD players are actually removable and should be displayed as such. "Eject" to disable the device, but pulling out and plugging it back in should restore the functionality.

  • [SOLVED] Optical drive empty missing in Windows Explorer, but not in the folder of the computer or Device Manager. Windows 7 x 64 HP Pavilion dv6-3032tx

The problem: the optical drive [cd/dvd burner] icon is missing in Windows Explorer when no media inserted in the drive. Even if the optical drive icon in Windows Explorer when a disc is inserted in the drive.

However, the optical drive appears in 'Device Manager' and in 'Computer' folder or no media is inserted in the reader as to the latter.  This doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.  It is a Windows 7 problem [or character?], which seems to be set [or omitted] in Windows 8.

Here are the step by step process to solve this problem:

    1. open Windows Explorer [click on "Start" and type "Windows Explorer" in the search box, then click on the first result to the Summit, which is "Windows Explorer"]
    2. in Windows Explorer, click on "Organize" (top left of the window).
    3. in the click from the drop-down list 'folder and search options '.
    4. at the bottom of the window that comes up, under the "Navigation" tick to choose 'show all files '.

I need to do this every time I have to reinstall Windows 7 x 64 Home Premium on my HP Pavilion dv6-3032tx laptop.

I hope this helps someone. Wellness wish all
