Application of Satellite P200 heating/cooling

Hi all

I'm popping up this question because my P200 will soon be available at the end of its warranty, and I don't know if it is useful to do a repair for the next 'disease' or if, in fact, others have found a similar effect or knows that it is in the normal operating parameters.

After execution of any fairly intensive program, just like one of my pieces from the analysis of the data from the software or game, for a period of time (for example, one hour), I noticed that the wind/radiator on the right near the hinges of the screen is very hot - uncomfortable to touch and to the point if it was warm I would be unable to touch at all. The base of the machine is also worrying hot. Anyone who has observed this, is it indicative of the early stages of an overheating problem and I expect the system looked at? I think that the computer can run a bit slower as I remember in a first time do, but I don't have any solid data to support that.

Thanks a lot for the ideas and opinions!

Michael.

I'll try to explain your problem.
Fans and cooling modules are placed on the right side of the laptop.

It is a laptop upscale. It was equipped with a high-performance CPU and graphics card. And it turns out that these devices produce a lot of heat when running with a maximum return.

This leads to a temperature higher inside the laptop.
The fans blow the hot air outside the laptop and so the right side is hotter than the left side.

I have a question;
Which driver of video card you are using?

You should always use the Toshiba designed graphics drivers because these drivers support and protection against overheating. If the temperature of the GPU would rise to a higher level, then the graphics card driver would decrease performance GPU to make sure that the chip would not overheat. This protection is necessary because the graphics of mobile phones are not equipped with the huge cooling modules like graphics cards for desktop PC.

Non-Toshiba driver graphics don t support this protection and this could lead to a higher temperature and overheating and finally, it could damage the GPU!

So you should always use the Toshiba GPU drivers to prevent overheating of the equipment/laptop!

  • Is a 3rd party compatible with Satellite P200-1EE cooling module

    Hi all

The fan started making noise, a week after the warranty has ended, which means the replacement is necessary.

Almost impossible to find the fan in the United Kingdom, however noticed that the fan Sunon GB0507PGV1-A my P200 is identical to that in the Acer Aspire 9300, with an identical configuration of heat sink. The differences are the slopes of Acer of 1.6 and P200 at 1.2W. I found the fan Sunon - available at the United Kingdom Acer but wanted to ask experts if it would work.

    So, what do you think?

    Thank you guys

    Hello

The fan is not compatible with the Satellite P200.

You must use a Toshiba fan. An ASP (authorized service provider) can help you to get a new.
Here you will find an ASP:

  • Satellite P200 - 16 X - cooling system does not work

    Hello

Since a few days, I have a problem with my P200 - 16 X. The cooling system no longer works and so tmy laptop overheating... until stop you it immediately. So I have to wait a while before being able to use it (the fridge is really good to cool, but only when the need to use is extrem). If I use it with the lowest consumption settings, I is overheating but the CPU is always at 65 ° C all the time.

I know the standard answer to this kind of problem is dust, but this isn't the case here. I have always paid attention to this and I checked: there is no more than dust on the fans or the grid. I went into the BIOS but found no option to control the fans.

Do anyone have any idea on this? What I find strange is that I found someone on a forum having the same problem as me and at the same time (a few days ago). Would it be an update for Vista, which can be the cause of this (here's the update only I made since December and at that time, everything worked well as I was playing games in 3D without any problem)?

    Thank you.
    Enguerran

I can see satellite P200 - 16 X is listed on this page than the compatible laptop model, but are you sure you want to do it alone? To do this you need to disassemble the laptop everything and this must be done carefully following the right steps.

The disassembly is described in maintenance manuals, but this document isn't public. Is guaranteed for your valid laptop?

  • Satellite P200 (PSPB6A) - heating problem

I recently setup my Toshiba Satellite P200 laptop as a dual boot Win-XP(SP 2) & Win-Vista Home Premium. I also installed the SpeedFan utility to monitor the temperature of the component on the system.

When booting with Win-Vista Home Premium, the CPU temperature is usually of the order of 50-55(degree Celsius). However, boot with XP, the temperature comes to the range of 65-70(degree Celsius) and a great fan noise is heard.

Someone would be able to help me understand as to what could be the problem with the installation?

    Thank you

    Arun

You must clean your laptop with a jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans.
For this you don't have to disassemble the laptop and you can buy it by a local computer dealer.
It s very helpful so try it.

Also, make sure that there is enough free space around the laptop and use it only on a table and example not in bed.

Finally and most importantly, I think that the temperatures of 50-55 degrees Celsius is ok.

  • Satellite P200-1 b 6: Sound Driver update fails, and HD-DVD player does not work

I just bought a laptop Satellite P200-1 b 6 and spent the day installing the updates recommended by the TEMPO programme. One of them was an update of RealTek audio driver but on run this it fails at about 80% of the way through with an error: "install Realtek HD Audio Driver failure!

Now, the reader of HD DVD, Toshiba will fail with an error "unable to output the video to an external device.

Please change your display keys of the device by pressing the Fn + F5 after the end of the application "." I tried this but it seems to have no effect.

I'm now regretting starting to update the drivers installed. Should I try to rebuild the machine using the recovery discs or is there another solution that someone found? Or if others have found the upgrade work?

    All advice welcome

    Hello

When I started using PC, one of my friends told me something: do not touch the well-executed system. I know that you, like so many other people out there, have updated things but as you can see, it can go in the wrong direction.

This TEMPO software is good, but if all goes well the leave it as it is. What you can try is to use the System Restore tool and move the BONES to earlier time and hope everything will be OK again.

    Please post the result.

  • BIOS update failed on Satellite P200 - 13 M

    Hello world

    I have a Satellite P200, (PSPB6E-03G01XFR).
Yesterday, after attempting to update my BIOS version with the windows application, my phone was cut.

I downloaded the new version of the bios of Toshiba-Europe Web site (v2.30) and I tried to use the Crisis_Recovery_Disk but no result. :(
    Can someone help me please?

Unfortunately, in your case only the ASP can help you.

Does your BIOS update fails and only the ASP can update the ROM module damaged by using a special version of the BIOS

So, don t waste time and ask the ASP in your country to help.

  • Satellite P200 accidents + message: graphic card driver does not work properly

    Hello

hope that this issue has not been covered before, but I've owned a Satellite P200 for 3 years now, and this week, it crashes all the time.

When it started going down he gave me a few messages in the sense of "your graphics card/driver does not work properly and windows will be arrested to avoid damage.

It has progressed to the point where now when I turn it on, I have vertical lines running down the screen and the screen flashes on and outside. Within 20 seconds, it restores the BSOD - 'there was a problem and windows will be arrested. Error Page_Fault_In_Non_Paged_Area"then stops.

I ran a system restore but the problem remains.

I have a feeling that my graphics card is toast. Is this good? Are there any other options to try? Thanks in advance for any answers.

    Matt

    Hello

    Sounds like the GPU problem.
But try the graphics card driver update.
Use the most recent driver for your graphics card.

In addition, clean the fans of portable computers.
Dust and debris could prevent the cooling fans to turn with the best speed and this could lead to a higher temperature which would lead to overheating.
Use a jet of compressed air. I also use it and it helps to get rid of dust and debris.

If this is not enough, then a problem of graphics chip would be possible.

  • Weird display on my Satellite P200 - 1 g 8 problem

I bought my new laptop Satellite P200 - 1 g 8. I had some problems with the display cable.
After that switch on and work for a few hours, the display is corrupted, or you can say distort.
It is very difficult to explain in words. But when I restart or switch users, it starts, works very well and then again after 1-2 hours the screen suddenly corrupts.

I've updated the drivers and Vista too, but I still have this problem. This problem comes then it distorts everything on the screen gave nothing.
    It is not overheating issue.

If someone knows about it or anyone can help with this, thanks in advance.

    Thank you
    Cecile

    Hello

To be honest, it is not easy to understand exactly what is happening. All you can do is install Vista with delivered recovery DVDs. This image has been tested and it should work well. If the problem persists, it must be checked by the service.

Sorry, but I don't see another solution for you. As I have written before that it is not easy to understand exactly what is happening and what it looks like.

This occurs if you use a specific application?

  • Satellite P200-1BA - Internet browser activity stops

    Hello
I have a big problem with internet activity on a WLAN connection.

    Configuration:
    Model: Satellite P200-1BA.
System: Vista Home Premium OEM with SP1 and the latest updates.
    Browsers: Mozilla Firefox, IE, Safari.
    Router: FRITZ Box 7050.
    Communicators: Skype, Gadu-gadu

    Description of the problem:

After starting system - access WIRELESS Internet start automatically to the next step commumicators start.
When I opened one of my internet browsers - I can work with this browser only 5 to 20 minutes. After this time, my browser activity stops.

I can't use any other browser - web pages load. But - commmunicator Gadu-Gadu - still work correctly.
I can start & stop communicator activity several times - and communicator is still OK.

But not the browser - browser is hung up.
I have to reboot the system,-c' is the only way I can reuse my browser and see all www pages.
    I know that:

-J tested dns - writtening IP adres field in browser - does nt work
-There are various ports 80-browsers, 8080 (?) communicator - maybe vista is blocking all ports?
-in command mode - ping adres - without problems
-in command mode ipconfig / renew - without effects
-different toshiba - with windows XP - working properly and correctly
-the e-mail program (outlook) does not work correctly
-reinstallation of vista - problem is back

    Help, please.

    Hello

You use the WiFi network, but have you noticed the same thing using the LAN?

According to your assignment, applications such as e-mail and Skype chat automatically load in the bottom of the BONE.
In your case I would test if IE and other browsers would hang without usig and loading gadu gadu and Skype.

Also if this problem appears only using the WiFi network then you need to update the WLan driver and should also check if the BIOS is updated.

Sorry for this frugal proposal but as you probably know, it's not really easy to tell what causes this strange problem

    Welcome them

  • Satellite P200-13F slow with Vista installed

Wow, after 2 weeks of waiting we had the newest Satellite P200-13F... fantastic... Well, is more then a couple of months... then the problems started to irritate. At the same time, we moved to another country... great, but the laptop is still away from work properly...

In the computer store they told me laughingly that memory of 1 MB is really stupid. Everyone knows that Vista works well on 1 MB.

So pass it... Yes, of course, to the place where? hahaha, only 1 MB more... a joke... But, we must try something... I m still crying... it doesn t do anything better then before...
Today, Toshiba cares not less. I mean, they got the money and we have a laptop... or something that should work as it...
Any laptop with Vista a minimum 2 MB and an upgrade to 4 MB...

Logic that so many people complain about Vista. It will not work with 1 or 2 MB...

No, you paid for something, which is stupid. We have to pay again to let XP is installed. Is option... fantastic, thank you very much, Mr toshiba...

Is knowing how far I came up with this thing... This Toshiba... is there someone who knows how to fix this laptop, let me know...
Our satellite is the laptop slower I have ever seen...

    Hello

I have a Satellite P200 and it s great running; with Vista and Windows XP.

First you misunderstood something; the laptop can be upgraded to 2 GB upwards and not to 2 MB ;) there is a big difference.

Secondly the Vista works well also with 2 GB of RAM.

I think you don t know much about computers because performance notebook doesn't depend only on the value of the RAM, but more CPU, GPU and Chipset installed!

I think that your suggestion on nits P200 means that Notepad starts slowly, etc.
In my opinion that you n t know that laptop computers are preinstalled with different applications that are run in the context of the OS and need material resources.

These background processes are created by the software that controls the functions of the laptop as FN key, command buttons, touchpad, Toshiba Flashcards, internal camera, etc... etc.

Also, the pre-installed Norton Antivirus can slow performance.
I used the Symantec Norton Antivirus too and was not satisfied with the performance and so I deleted and replaced by the free tool called Antivir.
My laptop is now faster and better managed, and better, I also used CCleaner to clean the operating system and the registry and removed unnecessary programs that slow down performance.

Then maybe you should do that too and you will see that your P200 is a lot faster than you think!

Have a boyfriend of the beautiful day :)

  • Satellite P200 - 1 K 9 and performance issue

I hope IM this ad in the right area...

    Hello

    I have a Satellite P200 - 1 K 9 with the following specifications:

    Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 @ 2.40 GHz CPU
    3 GB RAM
    32 bit
    Note Windows experience 4.8

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 map graphic and one
    HD sound card...

My problem is that since I bought my laptop about 7-8 months ago slowed down the performance. Of course, since then I had filled my hard drive (partition) with the media and understand that this is at the expense of the performance of the system. However, since this grateful I released a lot of disk space. I have 40 GB free on my C: and 90 GB free on my D:. Total, shared capacity is 250 GB (125/125).

Basically, while being largely ignorant of the technical questions, laptops and technology altogether, the way I noticed the inability of systems to "return" to its original factory running (which, I might add, I was very impressed by) is when it comes to games. Football Manager 2009, for example running very slowly. I had a peek in the Task Manager, because I play the game in a window, and the CPU usage works 100%, although I'm sure the culmination of the individual tasks and Applications is not equivalent to that (maybe there is a program hidden Hogging my CPU speed?). Call of Duty 4, which took place on medium-high graphics settings when the laptop was new, now struggles on the lower graph and the sound settings, without that there is a problem with internet connectivity. In addition, (for reference, I m not not the game breath) Battlefield 2, which is about 3-4 years of age very slowly also works. He ran too extremely fast, on the highest graphics settings when the laptop was brand new.

Basically, what I want to do, is to return the system to its original performance. It is always too slow when two hard drives were full of games and media. Now, despite the withdrawal of many of them, the system works like a sloth.

Means I ve done to solve performance problems are: disk defrag, disk clean up, error checking, virus scan (with Kaspersky), scanning of spyware (with PC tools Spyware Doctor), deleted the old files with CCleaner and erased files not deleted with a program called eraser... As well as the release of about 50% of the disk space.

Add to that, I ve noticed performance was much more when I first turn on the laptop and the sides of it n t had the chance to become hot. I understand what is normal, and he did before when the laptop was new and was operating at optimum performance, but perhaps I have an overheating problem? I'll let you know what is the temperature, but I put just t know.

I hesitate to return the system to its factory settings and if necessary I'll take to a computer store, if there is something they can do. But in the meantime I d like to listen to any advice on general issues that I face, and possible solutions to my problem.

    Thank you very much.

The problem with Windows is that it becomes slower and slower that you operate.

When the devices and programs are installed, they increase the size of the registry, activate the Services, add resident DLLS and drivers, slow down the file system by adding thousands of files. As well, the operating system can get damaged after some time due to the loss of power and software poorly written.
Even if you use CCleaner and other utilities and uninstall several programs, it is never as fast as a fresh installation of windows. Uninstalling programs rarely remove the program completely 100%.

The antivirus can have a huge effect on performance, that's why the system runs great when the image of the plant is installed (which has usually no anti-virus).

So basically if you want the system making a lot once again, you must back up your data and perform the recovery. I myself do it once a year to restore performance.

  • Graphics problems in World of Warcraft on Satellite P200-123

I bought a Satellite P200-123 to surf the net, play and for general use. I have read many reviews and chose the p200-123 because of his good grades. I play wow on a daily basis. World of Warcraft was an extension called burning crusade that came out a couple of years. When the expansion of BC the grx will all mess. Its as if there is a new effect of grx etc which does not agree with the toshiba range drivers. I get lots of polygons on the screen after being in the Burning Crusade expansion. I thought the grx was defective, so I exchanged it. Once again when I get the new laptop at home it happened again. It is a driver problem that it happens to the expansion of the BC. Ive tested it on other games and everything works fine. I want to know is we're going to have a bad selection of drviers or will they get updated.

    http://I219.Photobucket.com/albums/cc215/maltonbranch/WoWScrnShot_033108_213654.jpg

To solve this problem, I have to change the resolution, then back to the setting I use. problems with polygons etc seems to leave for 5 minutes then the pips apear. I thought he could heat or a damaged GPU. But getting a laptop brand new just to do it again shows me his non-defective material and a driver problem.

Ive posted this on world of warcraft forums and aparantly its a problem with the ATI driver toshiba shut down. Bottom line, I want to know if the drivers will be updated and not just old ATI modded those of toshiba. I feel ripped off the coast. In all my years of owning PCs and laptops, I never felt so disappointed by a company in terms of software support.

    Hello

I understand you completely, especially when you play with a few new engine that requires pilots who work quite at 100%.

Maybe you should check some 3rd third-party drivers.

This driver have been adjusted for mobile systems, so when you try these, your problem should go away and performance are expected to increase a little.

    Welcome and good luck

  • Satellite P200 BIOS password request

    Hi all

My Satellite P200 worked perfectly under Vista but I need to install XP for some applications to work.
I followed the instructions Toshiba installed upgrading necessary BIOS and now for some reason any my cell phone requests a password to the power upward.

I never put a password, am not aware of everything.

As I said never come before, after the update of the bios.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Matt

I have no idea why the password has been set after BIOS update, but I know that a BIOS password cannot be rid of the Toshiba laptop without additional assistance from EPA.

So, if it's a BIOS password, then you really must ask ASP for the removal of the password

    My Notebook: Satellite P200-14U

I installed 4 GB of memory (live RAM)

    Meaning of this?
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 with suport for TurboCache
Memory: 256 MB of VRAM (up to 527 MB total with TurboCache)
Reason for more video memory is that im works autodesk inventor design prog. on my lapptop.
Nice to have the max of my graffic card

    So im wondering how to...

-Get my graffic up to 527 MB in memory of the card.
-do I need an application to do
-can I change the video card BIOS and change the settings

    Please: someone must know this.

    Hello!

The size of the video RAM will be automatically controlled and therefore you will not find an option in the BIOS or nowhere else to change this.
So if an application video RAM needs more the size of the video RAM will be strengthened.

As far as I know the Satellite P200 came with Vista 32 bit. Is this correct?
If so, you can use the entire 4 GB of RAM of the t: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB82022E0000R01.htm

    Hello

I was wondering if my p200 - 1 k 9 can be upgraded to the 64-bit version of Vista. I was told it will improve performance, but have been unable to find anywhere on the net, if I can indeed be upgraded or if there is no significant increase in performance to justify the cost.

I use my pc mainly for photo and video editing in Adobe production studio suite.

Thanks for your answers in advance
    Richard

    Hello

Why not??? Satellite P200 - 1 K 9 belongs to the series of PSPB6E and according to the page of Toshiba Europe, all Vista 64-bit drivers are available.

But I don't think you will see a performance gain by using a 64-bit version of Vista.
To be honest, I would Setup not 64-bit because of the compatibility problems with some 3rd party applications.

I have no experience with Vista 64 bit, but with XP 64 bit version and I can tell you that I had a lot of problems with my 3rd software because it was designed for 32 bit OS.

But finally it s your own decision
