• Apply the transition to a title only

  I have recently taken the plunge from first CC at FCPX (I am a user of the ex-FCP7) and while some features are really awesome and cool I'm kinda stuck on this...

  FCPX version 10.2.3.

  I have a background image, or sometimes a video clip and I put a heading above it. If I apply a transition to the title (for example, a push or a slide) to align the text inside also affects the underlying image and video. I just want to animate text in and out entry - and do not want to do it manually with keyframes. It would be nice to use some of the new cool effects as well transition in title only.

  In first and FCP7, I dragged my passage on the title element and boom, job done. In fact FCPX the same thing apply transition to all the clips. For example, a transition between slides slides in the text, but also re-slips the underlying video too.

  I'm sure I'm doing something wrong - but can not understand. Can anyone help?

  You can post a screenshot of the part of the title of the timeline?

  I'm applying transitions titles several times without causing any changes made to the snippet above.

• Apply the Transition to many Clips at once

  Not sure if this is the place, but I edit a large number of videos of dance with multi tracks.  I cut the upper layers of the dissolution of one track to the other.  It is time to apply the same transition virtually hundreds of times in this scenario.  Is it possible to select several segments and say "Apply transition by default to all segments".  If this isn't the case, then please put it on my wish list.  Thank you.

  Select all the clips that you want to apply the default transition by dragging them with the Selection (V) tool, and then type the command (command) + D.

  If you want just the video transitions, select the entire video by selecting / lasso and holding the key ALT, then press the default Transition apply to selection.

  It goes the same for just the audio part.

  When you use Ctrl + A in video and audio timeline transitions will be added.

  You can also start the project with automate to sequence that will give you immediately transitions.

• you only want to apply the setting to a layer

  When I apply a levels adjustment layer, all layers are affected. I want only to apply a setting to a layer not all of them. How can I do this?

  To amplify what an adjustment layer affect all layers below. To limit the effect to a layer, the adjustment layer should be cut on the layer below. This can be achieved in CS4 by clicking on the icon above the settings panel, or Alt-click on the border between the two layers in the layers panel.

  Your layers of color must be between 0 and 1, like this:

  It is not possible to apply effects to groups of forms. You can apply the transition from the distribution panel and other properties in the property inspector.

  You will need to apply the same effect of the same duration for all objects in a group in this case.

• Shadow of third video during the transition

  I'm new to first Pro.I manage with transitions. When I add a transition between two clips, I see a shadow of what looks like a third clip during the transition. This happens even if I'm only using desolve.

  I am changing a wedding video where I have a long clip with lots of cuts. I cut the clip, overlap the ends for 30 images then apply the transition. Even after that I made the transition I can still see the ghost shadow that has nothing to do with a pair of pliers.

  Any ideas?

• Apply the feather to a single layer

  I am created an announcement of both parties.  One of the two parties (on two different layers) has a background image I want only the center appears and the rest I would bleach (about 90% opacity, leaving 10% of the visible background image) using feathering, as described in the pen in Photoshop with quick mask Selections

  So, does anyone know how to apply these feathers on a single layer?

  Create a layer mask and apply the pen in the properties panel.

• First bug Pro: cannot apply default transition during the sequence with keyboard navigation

  Hey everybody, it seems that I stumbled upon a very strange bug/problem in first Pro CC 2015.0.2 on OS X 10.10.5.

  Please check the 2 screenshots below and then please read my description of this problem down below the screenshots.

  

  

  In TWO screenshots, my head is in the EXACT SAME PLACE on the timeline of the sequence.

  But the 1st screenshot, I am UNABLE TO SELECT "apply video Transition ' or 'Apply Audio Transition', I am able to use their keyboard shortcuts. This is the bug/problem. I expected to be able to select the items and I expected to be able to use their keyboard shortcuts. But as you can see, they are completely gray.

  In the 2nd screenshot, everything works normally... everything as it should. The "apply video Transition ' AND 'Apply Audio Transition' are available to me, just like usual.

  So, what is the difference between the 2 screenshots?

  Screenshot #1, I started to play the sequence by pressing the space bar, I went through the edit point, and then I stopped the sequence by pressing the space bar again. Then, I pressed up arrow on my keyboard to replace the playhead in the edit point that I was coming. But when I use the keyboard to navigate in the sequence of this way, 2 menu options "apply video Transition ' and 'Apply Audio Transition' are not available! For some reason when you use your keyboard to navigate in your sequence in this way, it doesn't allow you to apply default video or audio default transitions (from the menu or their keyboard shortcuts). First Pro NEED that MANUALLY drag you these transitions of the Panel "Effects".

  Capture screen #2, all I did to fix this was CLICK ONCE with my my mouse ANYWHERE IN THE SEQUENCE itself. By clicking in the sequence, suddenly these 2 menu options becomes available to me. All we needed was a little tiny mouse click to fix this bug/problem. But of course, it is the problem... I'm sailing in Adobe Premiere Pro with my keyboard instead of my mouse, so it defeats the purpose of navigate the application with the keyboard if I constantly have to click in order for every single edit point.

  PLEASE NOTE that my sequence was ALWAYS 'the active Committee', you can tell by the blue outline around the sequence itself. If this problem is not caused by the sequence is not not the 'active' Panel before attempting to apply these default transitions.

  Any thoughts on this topic?

  There are some overall unexpected behavior going on here, but I also see some of the things in OS X 10.10.5. Please file bugs here. He does not behave reliably if editing is enabled, however.

  One thing you might try puts in place a shortcut to "select the closest point edition like Roll. This should you configured to add a default transition with the keyboard.

  However, I found that on Mac OS X, I have to press the command twice to

  1. Place the head of the edition and
  2. to select the edition

  This also seems to be a bug. It should move both the playback head and select the edit at the same time. At least it's what I expected. I'm going to give this one as well.

• Applying the cut transition morph, we get an error

  I apply a morphing cut transition and I get the error "failure, can be applied through a single clip" after that I made the finished clip. It flashes across the scene twice, and then runs the rest of the clip. The sequence is synchronized, but there is a noise that wasn't in the original video production.  One scene has a ventilation system works in the background, so there is a hum of the machine, but there is now a third unexpected noise. any ideas?

• Script: A single layer to set the opacity of the other layers?

  I have a lot of layers in my computer whose name begins with "POINTER_".

  I need these layers to falter at the same time.

  But I can't the subcomp or use stencil alpha.

  I don't know that it is possible to make a script on an adjustment layer that would do just that.

  All he needs to do is to allow me to make keyframes this adjustment layer opacity associated then with the opacity of each layer starting by 'POINTER_ '.

  You don't need a script to do this; you need an expression.

  You can easily bind properties between layers with expressions. In this case, you apply an effect cursor Expression to your layer zero (or just use the property opacity of an adjustment layer). ALT-click on the opacity for one of your layers property then use the pick whip to choose cursor effect or the property opacity of your layer of control. Now, when you change the value of a single layer, the others follow. You can copy and paste the expression resulting from your icon from selection for the other layers. (You can even choose to copy expression only and then paste that to the rest of the layers).

  You can duplicate the layer and the upper layer the second blending mode value. Or you can create an adjustment layer and set its blending mode for the second favorite mode (this will blend a visible merged copy of the layers under DOS in the visible stack). It depends on what you're trying to do. In general however, blending modes are a mixture of pixels in a layer in a visible merged copy of those below, to add two modes to a layer seems impossible.
