  Regarding the download, the correct trial version going, you should be able to manage on the link below.  If you have made a purchase and bought a Windows license so it is not valid for a Mac installation.  You will need to contact the Support from Adobe when they go bacvk vacation to see about getting the correct license.

  Thanks for the reply with the details of your first items 4.

  H.264.mov is supported format for my first Elements 4 on Windows 7 64 bit. It is generally accepted that the AVCHD (MPEG4 AVC/h.264) was not supported until that first Elements 7.

  I began research for a sample of the Canon SX50HD download online, but could find a. I found one of SX40HD. The sample was

  H.264.mov 1920 x 1080 @ 23.976 progressive frames per second.  In first Elements 4 on Windows 7 64 bit, I went with the the project preset 1080i30 NTSC HDV HDV (1440 x 1080 HD anamorphic16:9 which is stretched by the 16:9 1920 x 1080 for a view after the encoding).

  The file imported into first Elements 4 without problems. And, I could export it as 1920 x 1080p23.976 H.264.mov in the section actions/Personal Computer / QuickTime program, customizing default preset label button/video put forward of the preset.

  At this point, I don't know if your results of generic error for the import of the SX50HD H.264.mov was related to:

  a. do not have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with first Elements 4

  b. SX50HD H.264.mov is a different way than the SX40HD H.264.mov

  c. other

  Although later versions of the program will be more features and defaults preset according to formats and cameras later, I'm not convinced that you cannot not acceptable edit and export your video sample of your first items 4.
