Are previous Versions of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 redistributable Affect

My question is about Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable.
I have a machine with the Visual Studio 2005 development environment and 2008. I'm going to

develop an application in VC ++ with VS 2005 using the dll in Visual Studio 2010

(mfc100.dll for example). I downloaded vcredist.exe. Before I install it I would

whether there is any impact on my other projects. Redistributable packages will crush

(upgrade) existing? Or they will be installed in the separate place?
Thank you for your suggestions.

    SOLVED!

I called the 1-800-MICROSOFT to support.  I have given a file number and transferred to technical support.  The answer was so simple I wonder why MS isn't just after it.  So here it is:

After trying and failing to install the downloaded version of Microsoft Streets and Trips 2011 trial (failed, because I have the latest version of microsoft visual c++ 2010 redistributable and the program trys to install an earlier version, but then just ends) there will be a subfolder and subfolders installation on your hard drive files.
go to the "Microsoft Streets and Trips 2011\ST2011\Streets\MSMap\" folder and run the file called "data .msi.
The program will install and everything is good.

  • Microsoft visual c++ 2010 redistributable package

Do you need to uninstall the older versions (2005 + 2008) before you install the 2010 version? Or are the older versions with 2010 compaitable and should be left alone? I just wanted to know before installing the latest version.

    Hello

The different versions of visual C++ exist as separate applications, so there is no need to remove previous versions before installing Visual C++ 2010. Visual C++ 2010 is a more recent version, which can be installed over the previous version. All versions of Visual C++ are backward compatible, which helps you to use files created in older versions in the superior version.

I want to emphasize that I will not be plugging the GPS stick on a USB port until the installation process or the installed software requires it.  The installation begins with the display:

"Microsoft streets & trips 2011 requires the installation of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 redistributable. To install the component now, click OK. If you want to stop the installation and exit the Setup program, click Cancel. »

    William Allen

I thank all participants for their contributions on my problem captioned.

As I mentioned in one of my previous answers for myself, for me, this issue is now closed.  Microsoft support has accepted my MS Streets & Trips w / GPS for a full refund.  At least, support staff, that I spoke acknowledged that ST2011 was known to be incompatible with W7P SP1 and they offered a full refund.

A number of responses I received offered possible solutions that I had tried and has said on this subject in previous updates (for example, to run the installation of the data .msi on the installation CD).  Then I still had possession of the ST2011 software, I don't was not informed of Microsoft resetting tool mentioned by Mike L. Robbins, so I can't say if that than me by my installation problems.  Be it, everything is sent to Microsoft.

I can only hope that if Microsoft releases streets & trips 2012 which does not inherit problems, I lived.  In my view, this thread can be closed now.  Thanks to you all.

Certainly continue to reply to this topic, if others could benefit from your proposed solutions to ST2011 installed.

  • "Error 1714. The old version of Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable cannot be deleted. Contact your technical support group. »

    (Windows 7 64-bit)

This can be long and winded, but I spent 5 hours trying to solve this problem.

It all started when I tried to uninstall a program, but I kept getting the message that wanted me vcredit.msi (or something like that) I downloaded a copy of it and pointed out the program of this file, but it has always found a problem and wouldn't uninstall. (Add/Remove programs won't uninstall it not more)

So, I moved to the installation of a new program. He repeats to me '\Temp\IXP1. TMP\ is not a valid package for the product Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005
Redistributable. Try to find the installation package 'vcredit.msi' in a folder that you can install Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable. »

When I point to the vcredit.msi that I downloaded (just randomly sitting in my docs) I get "error 1714. The old version of Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable cannot be deleted.  Contact your technical support group. »

I also have trouble downloading updates Microsoft for Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable & at the same time in updates it shows Microsoft Visual C ++ 2008 Redistributable.

I tried to uninstall Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable via Add/Remove Programs, but it won't let me say it does not find some programs.

This thing is annoys the heck out of me.

I need to set the Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable problem (looks like I need the new version 2008 or 2010?) and be able to install and uninstall programs. Which is somehow related.

Any ideas what to do. (Please speak as clearly as possible. I'm a fool when it comes to computers lol)

    Hello Angelz,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

The error you get can be caused by components from Visual C++ Runtime libraries that are missing or get conflicted, perhaps due to a third party software or badly configured registry settings.

    d. the user variables area, click on TEMPand then click change.

    e. in the Variable value box, type C:\Temp, and then click OK twice.

    f. click applyand then click OK.

    g. follow steps 4 to 6 for the variable of environment TMP as well.

    h. confirm this folder C:\Temp exist, otherwise create a.

    i. restart the computer.

    j. attempt to install the application again.

If the steps do not help, try the next method.

    Method 2:

If you are comfortable in changing some registry settings, then follow the steps provided below.

    1. Click Start and type run in start search box, and then press enter.

Hello. I try to install 'eleven rack editor. " during the installation, I have this msg appear: I continued to install and when I load the program I get a blank screen: what could be the problem?

    Hello

You should contact the developer of the Eleven Rack Editior software for assistance.

The redistributable package that is mentioned in the error message belongs to one for the program installation files.

    Concerning

  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x 86) and other versions hold 4 GB of space

Running Windows 7 Home edition (Spanish version)

While trying to find space on my portable hard drive, I noticed that there are 8 versions of Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x 86) on my machine. That's a total of more than 4 gigabytes of space. Is there a version that will cover all these? or can I just delete some of them?

Original title: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x 86)

I think you read the amount of space used for the wrong purposes.

    I have 19 installs C++ ("2005 - 08-10 & 12") that accumulate to about 86MB total (64 bit Win7).

Adults are between 11-15 MB each.

I have not been informed to the contrary and assume that newer versions of C++ are not cumulative.

You will notice that everyone installs it different is a different version, and I expect the software

who installed will seek this particular version.

While I would probably uninstall all additional versions if I had the confirmation that the two

    versions 2012 (x 86 & x 64) have been combined, they don't take up much room, so I can't be bothered

experimentation to uninstall and reinstall again if a software that I do not often do not load.

in particular, because he cannot throw an error that specifies c++, this could lead to much .

BTW - just to get the right terminology. Software is uninstalled. Files are deleted.

While the software can be removed, doing so can cause problems both with to remove the title of

Programs and features, leaving the back files (which can happen when you uninstall anyway),

    and leaving the registry entries.

-If your laptop HDD/SSD is short on space, you will very likely move the files to an external HARD drive, or get a bigger HDD.

Music, video are joint space pigs, followed by photos. Most of the software don't take up much space,

but uninstall the "bloatware" that comes with many laptops may help some.

If you have any games, they can use a lot of space.

Note also that an SSD will last longer if you leave 25% of free space. HARD drives require 15% free space to

the defragmentation. If you have a HARD drive and not of defraged for a long time you can find a part

space and increase performance of defraging (which can be very time consuming if not done regularly).

    • Ran sfc/scannow to check tampering (it has none).
    • Verified that the Windows Installer service is running.
    • Running under a "clean boot".
    • Msiexec recorded and re-recorded
    • Checked the registry pending file rename operations and facilities (there is none).

None of this worked, I checked my programs, and I have all the redistributable files except 2010.

Managed to fix it myself. A certain Microsoft Security day seems to have messed up the installation of some programs, as I had a problem installing Skype, which is how I came across the solution.

Uninstall the update of security for Windows 7 for x 64-based systems (KB2918614) and hide. For some reason, this update asks a lot of questions, uninstall, restart, hide it so it installs ever again, and you'll find that installs that previously mysteriously not has not now works again.

  • Package redistributable Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 (x 64) SP1 will not install!

I've updated countless times after times (as recommended) and Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 (x 64) SP1 Redistributable Package is not installed! I have Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium on a 64 bit OS. I try to install it immediately after a new installation of Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium.

Here is the error in the text log it gives me after an installation failure. If you need full text journal, ask me and I'll post it as well.
