Arial Narrow font is missing in Adobe InDesign CS4

• Arial Narrow font is missing!

  I have Windows 7 Professional that has been installed at the factory on a Dell laptop I bought end of November 2009.  The following Arial fonts are installed:

  1. Arial Black
  2. Arial Bold
  3. Arial Bold Italic
  4. Arial Italic
  5. Arial Regular

  I have software that awaits Arial Narrow, which is obviously not in the above list.  Arial Narrow is not automatically installed as part of Windows 7?

  I have / see Arial Narrow on another PC equipped with Windows XP Professional installed.  And I have / see Arial Narrow on another PC which has Windows Vista Business installed.  Arial Narrow installed in these earlier versions of Windows?  Or, is Arial Narrow installed as part of another application like Microsoft Office which resides on these 2 PC, but not on the Windows 7 PC?

  Thanks for any help or insight someone might provide.

  FYI, when I opened C:\Windows\Fonts in Solution Explorer, I see Arial.  When I double click on it, I get a window of details font family:

  

  Right click > properties on the Arial Narrow window above performance police:

  

  What I don't know, is whether an application I have installed has the ARIALN. TTF file with it.  I don't have a fee, out of the box Windows 7 system to watch right now.

  I need to buy an earlier version of Adobe InDesign (CS4) to be compatible with another Member of the team, so I was wondering how to buy this older version and how much an annual subscription. Thank you!

  Adobe sells more CS4. He's too old.

  Adobe only really sells subscriptions to their cloud products. They sell CS6 if you call and ask them nicely.

  If you really must you CS4, you will need to check for old stock with resellers like Amazon.

  InDesign CS4 is not a part of the Acrobat Pro subscription. It's a different product of value.

  You have to buy separately.

  What to change to say once I will check and let you know.

  Just clicking the button of change all the options of all space operators will remove the spaces before and after operators.

• My copy of Adobe InDesign cs4 will not open a regular idml file.

  I opened my document, and said it was "impossible to open the file"Tightsketch_charrette2.idml". "Adobe InDesign may not supported file format, a plug-in that supports the file format's may be missing, or the file can be opened in another application" I tried to open the other idmls that I knew were not corrupt and I received the same message. I checked the plugins, they are all turned on.  I quit all other programs, no luck.  I rebooted the macbook, no luck once again.  I could receive assistance?  My Indesign cs4 is fully updated and Im having all these problems.

  I have good news and bad news.

  The good news is that the file opens correctly here in CS5.5 and CS4. The bad news is that this means that there is a problem with your CS4.

  I would start by trashing preferences. It's quick, easy to make and not too destructive, and if you're lucky, it will be able to solve the problem, but I would not put the chances of success more than 50-50. See replace your preferences

  You have a Time Machine backup? If you do, the next thing I'd like to try restoring the application folder InDesign from a time before the problem started.

  If all else fails, it's probably time to bite the bullet and get out of the installer. First try to run an installation to 'fix' on top of what's there. If this, too, goes down, then I would like to uninstall CS4, run the CS5 own tool (which can also clean up to CS4 - see resolve installation problems with the cleanup of CS5 tool), and then restart the computer and reinstall. If you have any custom stuff you must make copies of things like shortcut games and workspaces that you can replace as explained in the thread about resetting the prefs.

  InDesign CS4 stop working on Windows 7, we have Vb 6 application that opens Indesign cs4 to create multi-page document.

  but after a few Indesign CS4 pages stop working, if we run the same with version CS3 on Windows 7 it works fine.

  You must have a configuration problem on your system.

  6 inDesign (CS4) works perfectly well on the 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 versions. Many users as same Adobe employees use or have used this version of InDesign in these environments of operating system without problem that it is associated with the operating system.

• How to search for and remove text in the Arial Narrow font?

  I wonder if someone can help me with a problem.

  I have a great CS5 ID doc (Win 7) that has thousands of lines in the following format:

  Example: reach, reach to yari togemasu (togeru)

  In each line the first, or the words is in English all formatted in Arial Black. then, there is a space followed by words in a foreign language (in the Japanese case). These words are all in Arial condensed format.

  I would like to be able to delete all the words automatically formatted in Arial condensed (Japanese words).

  There should be a way to do that in FIND/REPLACE, but I don't see an option to find words in a specific font and then delete them.

  Can anyone suggest how this can be done automatically, so I can't do the manual removal?

  What version of InDesign are you using?

  If you go to find the change

  Then let empty 'Search' and ' change to ' white

  Go to the 'FindForma' t and insert the font that you want to change

  Do not fill in 'Change of Format'

• Adobe InDesign CS4 crashing at launch.

  I bought the Adobe CS4 Design Premium for Mac OS, Student Edition early last year and all of the programs worked fine except for InDesign. He constantly is not 'answer' when it was launched and as I force quit. The start menu appears and I am able to select 'Document' for my type of file, but then I get the rainbow reel and have to close the program. For this reason, I've never used this program and I really need the University in the coming weeks.

  I just tried to uninstall/reinstall and the same problem occurs. I also tried to download "AdobeInDesign6_0_6Patch-all-in-1', but when launched I get a message saying: it cannot be opened because it is recognized."

  I currently use Max OS X Version 10.6.6 and have enough space on my drive. Someone could please help me because I am out of options and do not want to constantly reinstall or download updates that do not work.

• Missing links in InDesign Cs4

  SO I read around this forum and have not found the answer I'm looking for.

  I'm not very familiar with InDesign. Ultimatly someone made a Web page for us and I want to be able to transfer it to Dreamweaver... which I am very familiar with.

  I have already designed file. All the files are on the local computer.

  When I open the file, it comes to getting the error message:

  My question is this:

  (1) is there a way to identify which links are missing?

  (2) where the links Panel in the menu bar?

  I have to admit, I'm very much a frame with InDesign

  The names of the missing links appears in the links Panel, you will find by window > links.

  If you really do not have the files, you will need to select in the links Panel and repeat, leader ID to the correct location.

  Hello.  Is there a way you can create 3 pages in indesign.  IM creating a 6pp A4 brochure and my graphics, cross the three pages. Can I create a 3 page double or will I need to create a document of 630 m wide?  Thank you

  Create 6pp doc with pages in the face.

  In the box on the top of the pages Panel, uncheck the box "allow the selected spread to shuffle ' and drag the small icons where you want in the pages Panel.

  PS... Check 'allow pages Shuffle' if not already done.

• InDesign CS6 and Arial Narrow

  I have been with CS5, had problems with the Arial Narrow font not appear as four variations but only one and finally got it solved somehow so that I had a font distinct, listed as Arial Narrow in the name of the font drop-down list and four variants listed in the other drop-down list (all separate from the font Arial with its four variations). I know I deleted the AdobeFnt*.lst files. I know that I tried the fix that I found a lot of Google research, but he said that it didn't apply to my system. In addition, I do not know what fixed the problem and I remember wanted a lot of trial and error, but finally I solved it.

  A few days ago I installed CS6 on my system for the first time, and now I got the same problem again. I have spent all afternoon trying to solve, but without success.

  I have three sets of files TTF for Arial Narrow, each set of four files for normal, bold, italic, and bold italic. A game version 2.20, a version 2.37 and the other is the version 2.40. My system is running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

  Does anyone have an idea of what this problem will be solved on my system? I have a lot of InDesign documents that use Arial Narrow, so now when I open one of them, I have a lot of lack of references to the police. If I could get properly reinstalled Arial Narrow once more, they would all disappear.

I uninstalled and reinstalled several times, police using older versions, once again only one version installed at the same time, but without success.

  There is a very old thread on this somewhere, but the solution was to copy the fonts to a machine running XP/Office 2000, if I remember.
