As part of the SAR cert is to have a NW separated between ESXi host required for VMotion or is it OK to use IP for VMotion management, in the execution of Certification tests.

As part of the SAR cert is "have a NW/dedicated separate between hosts ESXi (on which we GOS) mandatory for VMotion or is - OK to use IP for VMotion management in the execution of Certification tests.»

Note that the verification passed Test when you use management IP for Vmotion and without a dedicated connection to NW between ESXi hosts.

Separate dedicated network interface cards preferred. No problem with the test after this change case.

    Hello

In the past its always been after exercise oracle (end of May) the certification

I then remember that they were only $150.

in any case should buy us our next oracle exams before the end of the month?

If we bought a review before the end of may,

I guess we can still cancel review

    Hi Roger,

I was with Oracle for almost 10 years and I remember that 2 changes of price exam, so the evolution of prices at the end of each fiscal year is not necessarily a common practice. When there is a change in price, it is usually at the beginning of the new fiscal year. However, I am unaware of any change in price this year.

  • Director of the laboratory - cannot export to ESXi host (SMBMount unsupported)

    Hi all

I had this problem since the liberation.  This is my environment:

Director of the laboratory of 4.0.1

    vCenter 4.0 Update 1

    ESXi (3 guests) 4.0 Update 1

Shared storage: EMC SAN with NAS volume on gigabit ethernet.

I opted to use on ESX ESXi VMWare's future, as far as development.

My problem is this: when I click to export a configuration of Lab Manager, it fails with "Error in export."  The details of the message are:

    * Error export the Configuration.

vCenter Lab Manager cannot find that any suitable host connected to the "NFS Datastore" data store for this operation.

Host 'ESXi1' is an ESXi host and does not support smbmount.*

I installed ESXi being under the impression he was supposed to have all the same functionality as ESX.  Now, I have myself screwed... my users will sometimes have to export configurations to test booting the VMS of USB dongles (as there is no USB transfer directly to a virtual computer that it's time to start).  If at least 3 times a week I have to export virtual machines, one by one, to a network share, which is quite tedious and quite annoying.

Is on the timeline of development?  I noticed that the 4.0.2 has been released, but by its requirements (http://www.vmware.com/support/labmanager40/doc/releasenotes_labmanager402.html#newfeatures) it does not support ESXi 4.x, which is strange because the requirements for Lab Manager 4.0.1 (http://www.vmware.com/support/labmanager40/doc/releasenotes_labmanager40.html) list ESXi 4.0 as a host in charge.

Can someone please shed some light on this issue and maybe get it on the development plan for the next version of Lab Manager?

    Thank you!

    -Jesse Reinhart

    stemplar,

We don't do generally no update notes version after a product has been released.

In addition, it is not specific to Lab Manager, ESXi does not support required... orders so Lab Manager is just stating the restriction of resource pools provided.  As far as I remember, ESXi did not support smbmount (or mount-t smbfs) since its inception.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello

the link that I commented, explian how to monitor the status of the ESXi hardware by using the cmdlets for powershell CIM 3.0.

    Not the virtual machines

    This, will you?

Check this code from the link, you should notice that connects to an esxi host, not virtual machines:

    import-moduleCimCmdlets

  • 5.5 ESXi hosts disconnection of the vCenter 5.5.0b

Good evening.  I recently deployed some new hosts HP BL465c G8 running the HP OEM install ESXi 5.5 (not the one just released 02/18) and the two hosts have been disconnect from vCenter four times in the past week.  I can sometimes connect to the host via ILO and restart the vCenter agent, but more often without having to start the host hard.  In addition, one of the VMFS5 content of the data store disappeared and the virtual machines residing on this data store have declined because the hosts could not find the configuration of the virtual machine files. Strangely enough, the data store showed spaced used and I could see all the directories within the CLI, but not vCenter client or Web-based Client.  I have two tickets to windows with VMware from HP support team, but I wanted to know if someone had a similar problem.  I'm tempted to rebuild with the latest OEM installation or rebuild as 5.1 or 5.0 if version 5.5 is not fully cooked.  Thank you.

    Scott

The issue proved to be the OEM HP install and specifically the pilot v1.1.7 for HBA QMH2572 adapters that it contains.  We have rebuilt our 5.5 ESXi hosts using installation OEM HP published 02/14 (contains recommendations
v1.1.12 pilot) and that solved the problem of stability.

  • Cannot access ESXi host to download the vi client

Just installed ESXi 3.5 on an HP DL360.  After that installation went and changed the configuration of network and account/password root via the console.  Now, I want to install the vi client.  I point a browser on my laptop to my ESXi 3.5 hosts and get a context connection.  I assumed that I would use my root account and the password, but it does not work.  How to do this?

    Never seen anything like this.

Please check the ip address, subnet mask and gateway you have configured.

If you use the host name of the ESXi in the browser, also make sure that solves the correct IP address. (nslookup YourHostName)

The connection popup shows the name/IP of the ESXi host.

BTW: What DL360 generation do you use. In my lab environment, I'm under ESXi 4 U1 on a DL360G4 without any problem.

  • Secure boot requires firmware which supports UEFI followed the v2.3.1 Errata B and has the authority of Certification Microsoft Windows in the base of signatures UEFI

What does that mean? I want to upgrade to Windows 8 and it's what came when I bought the program online "secure boot requires firmware which supports UEFI followed v2.3.1 Errata B and has the authority of Certification Microsoft Windows in the UEFI signatures database... Thøis means that my laptop is not compatible? is there something I can do to fix it so I can get windows 8?

Secure boot is a protocol feature not a Windows 8 of UEFI recent incidents made of PC/Laptop, etc. This is a feature implemented in the BIOS of a PC/laptop.

Old PC do not have this in the setup of the BIOS, so it cannot be used.

You have been informed that Secure Boot is not part of the BIOS, you may not use the feature.

No have Secure Boot will not in any way affect the installation / execution of the W8.

Here's a technical explanation of Secure Boot, read if you like:

My own PC (4) have no function and use W8 (evaluation version of various) for more than 12 months, even once is not a problem.

Like any seller Oracle can offer carrots if she feels she will lead directly or indirectly, profits increased.  My guess is that they probably won't this offer on DBA tests... remember the historical lineage of exams have been through Sun Java...

  • advice on the first VMWare certification for a beginner.

I'm looking to get my first vmware certification. Something that will not be for a long time so I can get motivated to keep going further certifications.

My experience with vmware has implemented via vcenter servers, using models to build servers, have built esix hosts, created esxi clusters, knowledge of vmotion.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Since you are already experienced with VMware datacenter product, I highly recommend you take a look at the path of the certification VMware Data Center Virtualization: http://mylearn.vmware.com/portals/certification/

You can start taking the VCA - VTC, which is not a requirement of class and you can take the test online... Another option is to go directly to VCP - VTC, but you will need a requirement of class and to test on Pearson VIEW.

See the following links for more information:

(VCA - VTC) VCA-data center virtualization

    (VCP5-VTC) VCP-Data Center Virtualization

  • Unable to start the 2nd part of the installation

"Essentially, installation for WebCenter (WCS) Sites is not the point to halfway. This "point to halfway", this is where the installer invites us with the window "Installation Actions. In this window, we are responsible for deploying the WCS and the CASE of the applications on our application server (we chose WebLogic), restart WebLogic and then click a button of 'TEST' to see if the deployments are successful and the database can be reached.

We were able to deploy applications successfully, and then once we clicked on 'TEST', all tests have passed. Then we click 'OK' to go forward with the 2nd part of the installation (where it is supposed to create database tables, etc.). However, this is where the installation appears to hang, 73% full. It does not all tables in database, does not seem to do anything and it connects not further to indicate what may be possible problems.

Indeed, the only record we found is under < Toilet installation directory > / ominstallinfo/install_log.log. It shows no errors, and final recording is the success of the tests in "Midway". If there is a way to generate more registration, please let us know.

The WebLogic logs generated when we restarted WebLogic ("as indicated in the point to halfway") show that there is no error in connection to the JDBC Data Source, which the WCS and CASE applications have been deployed successfully, and that all servers are entered successfully comes back online.

If someone wants to see the logs, please let me know.

We have done all the previous tasks required with installation, and if someone wants to see our environment WebLogic startup scripts configurations or configurations of database (we use Oracle 11 g), we can also supply those. We run WebLogic with an Admin Server and a server named managed_server_1. We deployed the WCS and the CASE of the applications on this server instance. We are also running Apache plug-ins for WebLogic.

    Another thing I noticed:
It seems that for the 2nd part of the installation, there is a 'Install' button that is not clickable. Maybe a main question is, how do this clickable button?

Please let us know if you need more information. Your help will be greatly appreciated, as we seem to be stuck after the point to halfway to the installation.

  • Part of the SORT_AREA_RETAINED_SIZE of the UGA in shared server?

    Hello

    I'm confused.

Here are the notes I made during the expert reading by Tom Kyte Oracle a few years ago.

SORT_AREA_SIZE - the amount of memory to use for sorting. Will be in the PGA
SORT_AREA_RETAINED_SIZE - how much memory is used to store the sorted data. Will be in the UGA

I now see the notes that I did as I was not working with Oracle for quite awhile, and I don't know what is happening in shared server mode.

SORT_AREA_RETAINED_SIZE would still be part of the UGA? Probably not, as S_A_R_S is a subset of S_A_Z, Yes?

    Thank you.

    >
SORT_AREA_RETAINED_SIZE would still be part of the UGA? Probably not, as S_A_R_S is a subset of S_A_Z, Yes?
    >
Since the doc should answer your question
    >
SORT_AREA_RETAINED_SIZE specifies (in bytes) the maximum amount of memory of the global area (UGA) user retained after that complete a sort of race. Selected size the size of the buffer control learn that Oracle uses to maintain some of the sort in memory. This memory is released to the UGA, not for the operating system, after the last line is read in the sorting space.

Oracle can allocate sort on several areas of this size for each request. Usually, only one or two kinds occur at the same time, even for complex queries. In some cases, however, additional concurrent sorts are necessary, and each kind has its own memory space. If shared server is used, allowance is BMG until the SORT_AREA_RETAINED_SIZE value is reached. The difference between SORT_AREA_RETAINED_SIZE and SORT_AREA_SIZE is allocated to the PGA.
    >
SARS is preserved UGA (first line above) and the difference between SARS and SAS PGA (last line above).

Oracle recommend to use one of these settings more
    >
    Note:

Oracle does not recommend the use of the SORT_AREA_RETAINED_SIZE parameter, unless the instance is configured with the option of shared server. Oracle recommends enable auto sizing of SQL working areas by setting PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET instead. SORT_AREA_RETAINED_SIZE is retained for backward compatibility.

  • Class VCP and the issue of Certification

I want to just make sure I read it correctly.

You must take a VMware class if you want to get the VCP certification?

If this is the case, seems to be more than a bit of a scam to me. Use VMware for four years in a company and the looks of easy test after that much experience.

Having to pay a lot of money for a class on what I already know...

If someone could clarify, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

    EI

You are right. It is mandatory to follow the official VMware courses and pass the examination to be a PCV. Practical experience is strongly recommended to help you pass the exam and you can go to take the exam without taking the course, but even if you pass the exam, you will be officially certified until what the official course.

I guess they do it to enhance the VCP. They are also trying very hard to prevent people from taking brain dump to pass the exam.

  • How to select a part of the message under macOS Sierra?

In previous versions of Mac OS x, I was able to select a part of the message (text / iMessage) in the Messages application. Now, if I try to do the same, Tapback is enabled. It's really annoying, as I often have to copy the entire message body, paste into an editor and then to do the editing.

Which should not happen if you simply select the text of the message by double-clicking or click-and - drag. That action works the same way it always has.

Tapback happen if you press and hold - in other words, if do not quickly move the cursor.
