[ASA] VPN Clustering maximum features and Site to Site

I have a few questions about VPN Clustering with an ASA.

1. how many devices can be in a cluster?

2. I know that it is not possible to use the Site to Site VPN in a cluster, but near my cluster remote access VPN set a tunnel from Site to Site, which is not load balanced and terminated directly at the device of the cluster support?

To answer your questions: -.

(1) the max is 10 devices in a cluster

(2) Yes...

"Load balancing is effective only on remote sessions initiated with the Cisco VPN Client (version 3.0 and later), the material Cisco VPN 3002 (version 3.5 and later) Client or the ASA 5505 functioning as a simple customer VPN." All other customers, including LAN-to-LAN connections, can connect to a safety device on which load balancing is enabled, but cannot participate in the load balancing. »

I have 4 pairs of HA VPN in 4 different geographic regions of the world.  Cisco ASA supports the Alliance of more than 2 VPN servers?  Given that the AnyConnect client does not have the ability to store login as the old client IPSec profiles I need a way to provide 1 hostname which will be used for all 4 VPN servers.  Any suggestions?

    Eric

You will be very happy.  Read this.

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/document/58711/AnyConnect-optimal-gateway-selection-operation

In short, AnyConnect can store profiles.  However, it is best to create the same profile and store it on each VPN cluster allow users to shoot their next login.

On the modern Windows OS the XML profile is stored in:

    %ProgramData%\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect secure mobility Client\Profile

  • Site to site VPN upward but not pass traffic (ASA 5505 8.3.1 and 9.2.3 version)

    Hello

I'll put up a tunnel vpn site-to-site between two locations.  Both have cisco ASA 5505 running a different version, I'll explain in more detail below.  so far, I was able to get the tunnel to come but I can't seem to pass traffic, I work at this for days now and have not been able to understand why he will not pass traffic.  Needless to say that the customer's PO would be on the fact that their VPN is not upward and they had to do by hand.  I'll put the configs below, if possible can someone help me as soon as POSSIBLE, I really want to get this site up and running so that we do not lose the customer.

An IP address of 0.0.0.0 = site
    Site B IP = 1.1.1.1

    A Version of the site = 8.3.1
    Version of the site B = 9.2.3

Could someone tell me how to set up this configuration? I tried but didn't workout. Here is the IKE protocol I have used.

    IKE information:

    IKE Encrytion OF

    MD5 authentication method

    Diffie Helman Group 2

    Failure to life

    IPSEC information:

    IPsec encryption OF

    MD5 authentication method

    Failure to life

    Please enter the following command

    on asa

    Sysopt connection permit VPN

on pix not sure of the syntax, I think it is

    Permitted connection ipsec sysopt

What we are trying to do here is basically allowing vpn opening ports

Alternatively you can open udp 500 and esp (or port ip 50) out to in on the two firewalls

  • Setting up a VPN between a WRVS4400N and ASA device

I'm a newbie when it comes to Cisco devices and I have a problem setting a VPN between a local and a seat some distance away.

Here, our local office, we have a device Cisco WRVS4400N Small Business.

At Headquarters, they have a feature of Cisco ASA.

We must set up a point to point VPN and I have no idea how to proceed with these devices.

To compound things, resources, I'm at the other end in an unknown entity that also does not seem to have a lot of experience with this.

Is there any type of step by step guide for such a configuration?

If not, can someone please help with this?

    Hello William,.

I would call 1866-606-1866 Support Center for assistance on the side the tunnel then the entire side of the ASA WRVS has to do is match the settings. If the side ASA needs support with which we can transfer more TAC.

  • ASA VPN Site to site: mesh DMVPN or full?

    Hi all

I'm a new man in the cisco environment, please help me

Currently I am working on a project that requires to set up the VPN for security at the site of mutiple with diffirent ISP (no decided static or dynamic IP yet)

I can also ask router Cisco for L3 routing devices and ASA appliance

My goal is: all sites can communicate with each other.

Now I am considering all DMVPN or Full mesh topology

If you guys please answer my questions:

    1. static IP from ISP is straight? Can I use a dynamic IP? (I know ASA have a kind of dynamic - static VPN)

    2 DMVPN:

+ ASA can't, but I've heard that, somehow, ASA can config like speaks of talking about VPN. Is - this match my target?

+ Please refer me documents to set it up if you have

    3 - full mesh VPN:

+ How to set up, am I have to config VPN L2L each of the sites for the rest?

4 - DMVPN vs Full Mesh - what is the best? which is less config work, less administration tasks?

5 - the last of them: Please consult me the device necessary for my target

    Thanks to you all!

You are right that an ASA will not support DMVPN. It should be that configure you individual VPN LAN-to-LAN tunnels at each site (total n x (n - 1) tunnels).

FlexVPN with ISR G2 routers would be the least amount of configuration work and more flexible setting for your requirements. It has the advantages of EZVPN and DMVPN together.

There are a number of examples of configuration of FlexVPN here.

  • ASA Vpn load balancing and failover

    Hi all.

We have two asa5520 configured as main unit and emergency in failover configuration, and everything works fine.

Is it possible with this configuration (switch), configure the vpn load balancing/grouping?

    Thank you

    Daniele

    Hi Daniele,

You cannot run two of them on two firewalls ASA, VPN feature load balancing or failover functionality.

Where you need to use the two feature, you must use more than three ASA firewall, two first ASAs will work as the failover and the ASA third will work as cluster VPN for them, the following example uses four firewalls:

    ASA1 (active FO) - ASA2 (TF Standby)

    (VPN virtual master)

    |

    |

    |

    |

    (Backup VPN device)

    ASA3 (active FO) - ASA4 (TF Standby)

  • I lost my Norton log-in feature and feature secure site for downloading the new and not very good in my opinion, the version of Mozilla Firefox, and I want features of theses back then how I get back them?

I downloaded and installed the latest version of MF, but now I've lost my Norton funtions in the bar under the address bar.
Safe site and log in. I want my features Norton back please so what should I do to get this?
I am not happy to lose these features and am not at all satisfied with your so-called improvements and wished that you had left things alone, everything worked fine before.
Help me get back my Norton features.

Symantec has released updates for Norton 360 and Norton Internet Security to make them compatible with Firefox 4, for details see http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Firefox-4-compatibility-hotfix-is-now-available/td-p/428894

  • Remote IPSec VPN - client Windows 7 and ASA 5505

    Hello

I'm having trouble with configuring IPSec VPN with Cisco ASA 5505 and Windows 7 client native VPN remotely. My client PC Gets the VPN IP pool address and can access a remote network behind ASA, but then I lose my internet connection. I read that this should be a problem with the split tunneling, but I did as it says here and no luck.

Windows VPN Client settings, if I uncheck "use default gateway on remote network" I have an internet connection (given that the customer is using a local gateway), but then I can't ping remote network.

In the log, I see the warnings of this type:

TCP connection of disassembly 256 for outside:192.168.150.1/49562 to outside:213.199.181.90/80 duration 0: 00:00 0 stream bytes is a loopback (cisco)

I have attached my configuration file (without configuring split tunneling, I tried). If you need additional newspapers, I'll send them right away.

    Thank you for your help.

    Petar Koraca

That's what you would have needed on versions 8.3 and earlier versions:

    permit same-security-traffic intra-interface

    Global 1 interface (outside)

    NAT (outside) 1 192.168.150.0 255.255.255.0

However I see that you are running 8.4 so I think that all you need is this (I never did on 8.4 so it may not be accurate)

    permit same-security-traffic intra-interface

    network of the NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.150.0_24 object

    dynamic NAT interface (outdoors, outdoor)

Give it a shot and let me know how it goes.

  • VPN-3DES-AES: feature disabled

    Hi all

I have an ASA that I would activate the VPN-3DES-AES license. Unfortunately, we used this unit for the past years and the provider don't failed us with the SKU PAK (the white sheet that comes with the box). Is it possible that I can activate this feature?

    Thank you very much.

The devices allowed for this platform:

    The maximum physical Interfaces: unlimited

    VLAN maximum: 100

    Internal hosts: unlimited

    Failover: Active/active

    VPN - A: enabled

    VPN-3DES-AES: disabled

You get the license for free on www.cisco.com/go/license.

Under 'Get new' you choose ASA, providing your serial no and contact, and a few minutes later, you have the license in your Inbox.

  • Anconnect Cisco ASA VPN deployment

    Hello

I have a request for information about the deployment for the ASA who must support more than 10000 clients. I understand that several ASA would be necessary for her however I was wondering what can be typical design for this? The ASA multiple is configured as vpn cluster/load balancing, etc... ?

I would if there is any design document for it. The current configuration is that a pair of ASA active / standby, I was wondering how to combine the total connection, if I need 15000 connections vpn; pairs of example 2 active / standby with vpn clustering/load balancing, etc... ?

    Thank you.

You are right, that the vpn load-balancing is the technology, you need to deploy for this. With this, you can combine multiple devices to a cluster of load sharing. These devices may be different, for example two 5555 with two 5545 that would give you a total of 15000 VPN connections.
Of course, you plan for failure of the device. So you can deploy 4 * 5555 and also if an ASA is lost you yet 15000 connections (well, at least based on the datasheet; I would not push the number of connections to the limit).
You can also deploy these devices also as FO-systems for redundancy. 3 * 2 * 5555 would also give you redundancy.

This is under the assumption that users connect to office even where the ASAs have one L2-connection to another which is necessary for the VPN load-balancing. If users connect through different places, then these ASAs cannot use VPN-load balancing, unless you have a L2 connection between the loacations.

If you have multiple sites, you should also think about the shared license server that could save a lot of money if your users do not always use the same gateway.

And last point: as much as possible for your AAA with a central RADIUS server set up to reduce the probability of a misconfiguration on ASAs multiples.

  • The ASA - Client to use SSL and connections options I have?

We have a large site and have only allowed using IPSEC for all our branch in branch and the user tunnels. We tried SSL years but she limits so we stopped deployment. We must now begin the SSL VPN user and I have a few questions basic ASA.

I have a unused ASA 5510 for tests that currently holds the 8.3.2 on it, Security code more license, 100 SSL VPN peers and 250 total peers of VPN, VLAN max 100, 2 seconds, active/active contexts, 2 proxies of phone CPU and everything else is disabled. We do not intend on using a SSL connection web anywhere (Anyconnect essentials?) and will not use the entire customer VPN SSL which will be hand loaded on machines or downloaded from the ASA and loaded on the computer if possible. I want to know is what version of the current code can install on my ASA without losing my existing SSL VPN 100 peers license and that the Anyconnect customer would be sustained? I've seen talk about premium Anyconnect but do not know its relationsonship. If I improve the ASA of new releases or versions of code my peer SSL VPN license turns into an Anyconnect Premium license?

Any help to get started you in the right direction would be appreciated. I know I can spend days trying to understand Cisco licenses and traps and still get burned in the end with the function or the wrong license. Basically, I want to know what I have to install the end-user complete SSL VPN clients and I have to do with the ASA to provide this functionality with current license / feature set there. I also want to know what the end user should be used because it seems that Anyconnect Secure Mobile is the same if I use all its security features. Example - I am not able to check for firewall/malware etc programs but we currently have a policy in place which does not allow browsing the Internet or access when end users have connections VPN tunnel on our site. That restriction will always be kept if this is possible thanks to the SSL VPN connection also.

    Thank you

    Paul

The SSL VPN client-based license will remain active on your box through Software ASA updates later. AnyConnect Essentials (which you already have) will work with the feature of SSL VPN license.

You would be upgrading to AnyConnect Premium only if you wanted to add features like clientless SSL VPN (purely based on a browser) or other items such as Advanced Endpoint Assessment (AEA). AnyConnect Premium can coexist with Anyconnect Essentials on the SAA even if you can't mix and match licenses Premium and Essentials.

Essential distinction or Premium is mainly directed towards the installation of the ASA. The same AnyConnect Secure Mobility client software (version 3.1 is the latest for Windows and OS X and is quite a nice new version) is used in both cases. Functional additional client plug-ins are things such as the AEA and the NAC 802.1 x. Your group policies based on the SAA as no split tunneling, etc. remain in force.

If you intend to allow clients of mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, and Android (a very limited support for the last BTW)) to access your VPN, you will need to add the mobile on the SAA AnyConnect license and install the client from the respective AppStore. Note that Windows Phone and Blackberry don't are not supported as client AnyConnect.

    Raul,

I don't see to apply ACLs inside the interface or as vpn-filter that will prevent the PING of the SAA within the intellectual property to the VPN client.

Are you sure that the VPN client does not have the Windows Firewall on or antivirus software that prevents to respond to PING?

    Federico.

  • ASA ASA VPN remote access

This is my first post on this site. Hi all!

I have not really set up ASAs or VPN on Cisco devices before. Currently, I'm trying to configure a dial-up VPN between ASA devices, a 5505 and a 5510. The 5510 is supposed to be the server and the 5505 is supposed to be the easyvpn customer. The reason why I'm opting for remote access instead of site to site is that I much 5505 s on the remote I need to set up in the future, and they will be moving around a bit (I prefer not to have to follow the configs to site to site). The 5510 is not mobile. The ASA devices are able to ping to 8.8.8.8 as ping each other in the face of public IP address.

Neither SAA can ping IP private of other ASA (this part makes sense), and I am unable to SSH from a client on the side 5510 for internal interface (192) of the 5505. I wonder if someone more experienced in the remote VPN ASA than me is able to see something wrong with my setup? I glued sterilized configs of two ASAs below.

Thanks a lot for any assistance!
