Ask Windows Update to install the Vista SP2, which was installed years ago and won't let me install Live Essentials for the same reason.
Windows Update is now always ask to install the Vista SP2, which was installed years ago. When you try to install through Windows Update, it concludes the installation like ok, then once again it shows in Windows Update. When I try via stand-alone, it is said that SP1 is not installed. Of course, it is. In any case tried to reinstall and he wrote is already installed. I'm sure I installed both SPS long ago, but none of them show in the updates installed. It's probably something in the registry. Properties system shows SP1. Ah, I use Vista Home Premium 32-bit.

Windows Update keeps providing the same 6 updates again and again.
This is the third time that I am a request for assistance with this problem.
I have Vista Home Premium, 32-bit sp1. HP Pavilion PC, about 2 years. Norton Internet Security, Malwarebytes and Defender on.
Since September 8, I was offered various updates. I can't install the 6 following updates:
KB967723
KB970710
KB968816
KB905866
KB971961
KB973768I have install, update says that they have been installed successfully. they next day, they are offered again and if I go to view installed updates that are not there, although that still listed as installed with success in the history of the update. Note: I do NOT receive the error messages.
The first response to my original message does not understand my problem because he told me to uninstall the updates I had already said were not there. I followed his other recommendations anyway (try to install the updates in the clean boot state) and it made no difference.
The second speaker suggested reset components Windows Update (who has not made a difference) and using the system update tool (which apparently, the site said I didn't need).
Any other ideas? I'm trying to update my system and do not feel I can do so until that these issues would be resolved.
Thank you

Several Windows updates fail with the same error code 80070081 0 x
Anyone has any idea why? I just run SFC/scannow and restarted the computer, but no joy.
Thank you for your help. When I wrote the first time, I had already tried your mentioned basic steps. : D I was troubleshooting computers for friends and family for a long time, and I'm a fan of CCleaner (one of the first things I install on any computer!). Unfortunately, they had not solved the problem.
I have not run Windows repair tool. It is a work computer, and because my colleague use it almost all the time, I didn't have enough time to play with him. Anyway, he had a program called "Advanced Systemcare v.6" that someone had already loaded. A scan with the program detected and repaired something that solves the problem of failure of Windows Update.
But I will keep your advice in mind. During the next update Tuesday, if updates not yet once again, I'll try the Windows repair tool.
Thanks again!

In this case, can you put the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file in a public folder on http://skydrive.live.com?
After that, please post the link on this thread so that the community can look at the newspaper.
You can watch the next thread to get a file on your skydrive instructions more detailed on poster:

My windows update to install a new version of windows update says it acts like it will download and install it then gives me the error code 80070020 and says that my computer is unable to download or install new updates or new version of the windows update. I have a 64-bit windows vista SP2 and my avira antivirus program that has a real-time protection. I tried to do a clean boot upward and tried every possible tip I found on the Microsoft and through suggested methods help panel, I found. My computer has Avira Antivirus that has real time protection I deleted and tried without that somewhere because he said it could be antivirus programs that include real-time protection. Does anyone have advice good?
Hello
1. What are the troubleshooting steps correct you did to fix the problem?
2 did you a recent software or changes to the material on the computer?
I would say allowing you to run the FIXIT from the link provided and check if it helps.
You receive error 0 x 80070020 when you use the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update Web site to install the updates
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/883825
You can also try the manual steps and check.
If you follow the manual steps to start the computer in a clean boot state, remember to start the computer in normal mode after you have completed troubleshooting.
Note: when you are finished troubleshooting, follow step 7, mentioned in the article to start the computer to a normal startup.
Note: It is possible that some data could be removed if infections are detected.
Hope this helps and keep us posted.

Do you have other accounts of users on this PC? If you install this update from the main account? You should get the number of the update of the updated history list and then download the file here: Microsoft downloads.
If sure that nothing else is running, and then install the update manually. Give it a try and let us know the results.Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

Hello
I have an Acer with Vista SP2. It has no boot and auto repair after that I stupidly shut the computer manually during a Windows Update.
I fell asleep and woke up two hours after the start of the update of Windows. Then without thinking, I did a manual stop without recognizing the update restart message. Now Windows does not start, and the auto repair / recovery options have failed three times. Initially he gave me a (?) CMOS settings have changed the error so I went into Setup (with the delete key) and note the date / time has been reset to the date of manufacture of the computer, do not change that. I have however system virus detection function then it off after that repair failed the first time.
I bought a second hand computer and I have no original discs and I can't find a manually created recovery disc I thought I made some time ago. The label of Windows with Windows Vista Home Premium product key is on the computer. I have access to a Windows 7 CD since another cmputer if this can help me.
I sent thisquestion from another computer.
Your help would be much appreciated.
