Aspire 5600u: someone has installed an ssd on this AIO?

Hi, I am considering buying an a TB Drive (SSD) to replace the original HD 5400 cramped. I am interested in the MX 300 essential and the Samsung 850EVO, but do I SATA II or SATA III or is it important? The Samsung comes with cloning software, but most is not. I think the real replacement/installation process is without problem, but the cloning of BONE, the programs and data is another question. Also, I heard that the BIOS should be changed too.  Any suggestions on a better SSD or the best products of cloning? I hear that free Macrium Reflect is good.

BIOS didn't need to be tweaked during the installation of an SSD, only windows OS (7 and more) automatically add a few settings (disabling of defragmentation is the first thing to do to not kill your SSD).

your AIO supports SATA 6 GB/s (SATA III) and there is no issue about 1 TB of storage.

on cloning, there are plenty of free software around but to be honest, I still prefer a clean install when switching to the SSD HARD drive, but I understand the galley to reinstall everything.

  • Aspire E5-551 clean install on SSD Hell

Hoping you guys can help. So I bought an Aspire E5-551 on amazon of second hand. Had a cool Windows top 8.1. Turn it on, mess around, everything seems fine so not slow because of the HARD drive. Pop in a new SSD, I bought that has tested OK on a different computer. Install Windows 8.1 Via the USB port. He move to the part he will tell me to restart, restart it crashes always prepare or something like this. I let it set for hours, even the rotation icon Paris spinning. So I reset the laptop via the power button. I get the error "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error" and tell me to restart. He will continue to do that no matter how many times I click on restart. Never had this problem with all other computers or laptops I have ever installed 8.1 one, but the internet has a solution. While the "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error" is on the screen, you can bring up the cmd via shift + f10 line and raise Regedit. The solution is to go to HKLocal machine/SYSTEM/INSTALLATION/STATUS/ChildCompletion and change the key to setup.exe for 3. After that, I'm having some problems with blank screens during the reboot, but after 1 or 2 reboots, I get to my office. Although the office has not all the apps and things fresh windows install comes with. As IE is not yet listed in the start menu. Looks like a cooked halve install or something. But all right. Some time how I can restart the machine a lot. Click around, looks OK. Looks like everything is going fine until I start installing the drivers. Go wrong install drivers and then the computer stops responding to clicks but the mouse still moves around. When I reboot it such bad get hit "get ready" and I'll never be able to get back to my office. Now I can't enter the mode without failure and I'll uninstall all the drivers, but when I try to make a bad regular start simply wants to "get ready". If anyone has any Info for me I would be so grateful. I am so tired of pulling my hair over this.

I'm not 100% sure. I think it might be a problem of RAM for 2 things. The RAM first shows 6 GB with 1.45 usable in windows. The bios show 6 GB. Stock, it came with 4 GB, im assuming that the owner before put me in a stick of upgrade or something. So I think between them too things that its got a bad memery stick.

Even with the hard disk of the Moose, factery restored, he will lock after a certain time. At this point, I'm super furstrated, and I will return.

Thanks for all the help that if.

If you look on the LabVIEW tools network and search for LCD a few possibilities appear.  http://www.ni.com/np/app/main/p/bot/no/ap/lvtn/lang/en/pg/1/sn/n25:software, n21:28/sb/default /? q = LCD

It is said expressly in the box to Reach tools that it is via RS - 232 interface.  Although not your specific device would it be worth the trip.

    Hello world

I got my T400 off ebay last week, and I do not know if my T400 has installed because I had this T400 (2767bk1) DDR3 memory for $800 and it seems new, but in an open package. • Satellite A500 PSAR9E. Someone tryied to install the SSD to conn JSSD?

    Hello!

Now my satellite A500 is completely disassembled and I am looking for what is inside and what is possible to upgrade. The most interesting for me is jssd connector on the bottom of the motherboard.

This information was already mentioned on toshiba American forum but has not ended.
It's someone who's been tryied/successedid to install the ssd drive to this place or this connection is physically disabled by the BIOS of the motherboard?

And including this interface mSATA 1.8 inches?

I myself want to try this connection if I find this ssd or the usual sata interface cable.

If the micro SATA port is available on the motherboard, the interface should work.
But there is a question open about the BIOS. If the BIOS would not provide support for the micro SATA, then new SSD connected would be not recognized
However, I have not found useful information on BIOS support...

  • install an SSD in Workstation Z600.

    Hello

Description explains it, I thought to replace my current HARD drive to an SSD.

I did a lot research on this myself, but thought I would check here just wrap there are any falls known issues/pit with a ssd in z600 workstation installation, I will look at adding a 1 TB ssd.

    1. installation of the material? the 3.5 inch z600 caddy would not accommodate a SSD, HP sells racks that will fit the z600?

    2. compatibility with the workstation? are there types of SSD that are best suited for z600 workstations?

    3. how to install and set up? is it as simple as connect via a cable SATA SSD and installing the OS? The Bios settings?

    Any information would be appreciated,

    Griff

Installed a Samsung 500 GB SATA III Evo in my z600... and it works perfectly.

Installed last week and have been installing programs and saw the general use of it without any problem. I wanted to test properly before posting a reply. It would be possible that I have problems with it later, but I would of thought that if she had problems I would be this topic now.

My SSD reads to 282 MB/s and writes to 270 MB/s - write random shuffle (IOPS) (IOPS) 51612 47395.

Being a SATA II gen workstation his don't reach only the full potential of the SSD to 540 / 520 MB/s writing but reading what I read, you won't notice the difference even its so fast... and I accept CC suite, mozilla, (did not install 3dsmax yet) all boot in seconds compared to the minutes on the old HARD drive.

Just to note that does not use a HP recovery disk to reinstall the OS. I have used a .iso official windows 7 and booted from USB (although it has some things useful, I didn't HP bloatware) drivers installed perfectly smoothly. Windows serial on bottom of Tower

    1. installation of the material? the 3.5 inch z600 caddy would not accommodate a SSD, HP sells racks that will fit the z600?

"Via Scott comments, look for the version of"needs-tool"in the post above, mine cost £8.50 and takes every 5 seconds to fit the ssd for the z600. I would not buy the version of the tool-less sugguest... unless you have no hands and a lot of money. »

    2. compatibility with the workstation? are there types of SSD that are best suited for z600 workstations?

"Yes, they are HP approved detailed SSDs in, but the post above, I had no problem with the class of consumer SSDS, but you dice with what brand." The Samsung EVO 500 GB, no problem. You can use a SATA III ssd, but you can get questions as warned by HP as their firmware does not support certain types (so basically if it doesn't they don't help you) ".»

    3. how to install and set up? is it as simple as connect via a cable SATA SSD and installing the OS? The Bios settings?

"Make sure that your BIOS is set to RAID + AHCI (mine was already setup like that)." I used the samsung Wizard tool after installation and it will say that your PC is not set to AHCI, but I just ignore it. As long as ORGANIC and firmware are up-to-date, you'll be fine. Use a blindmate card to install the ssd (see above messages). Make sure you get the latest firmware on a USB before installing SSD, it should be the first thing to check after the installation of the SSD. You don't need to change cables SATA from II to III that the cables are retro-compatible... anyway have a SATA III in a z600 will limited you to speeds of SATA II (which compared to a normal HARD disk are ridiculously fast). Just plug in and install OS. It can be interesting to read about boring SSD, the magician of samsung suggest some things to do, but not all are necessary, either its life expectancy more performance... defintely deserves to be read to the top, if it's your first SSD as it was for me. »

Upgraded high hand the best I've done to my workstation and very simple to do. I'm glad that I waited for better support and cost down on the SSD before using.

You want to say a big thank you to Scott Harrison for his help on this. I nagged him much but really appreciated his advice! Congratulations to Scott and anyone else who posted help.

Enjoy your SSD, I'll do it.

  • This win to install a SSD drive in a PowerBook G4?

    Hello

I wonder if installing an SSD in my PowerBook G4 17 "would make sense, either replace the drive of 80 GB original or being a carrier of replacement instead of the SuperDrive, which can be done.

I read somewhere, but that because of the PB G4 PATA connection an SSD would be significantly slowed down that it make much sense to install a.

Does anyone have experience with this?

    Thanks for all the opinions.

It probably will not affect performance much.  You may notice the startup time is faster.  It makes the quieter PowerBook, and it produces less heat, fans can turn on less often (what makes even more quiet).

I replaced the hard drive in my old PowerBook ("Pismo") with solid state storage.  First of all, I used a physically tiny SDXC (32 GB) card on an adapter, and which worked surprisingly well.  I had already used this same card SDXC (of Sony brand) with my 2011 Mac mini (in its high speed SD card), as a startup disk for replacement for testing purposes.  The adapter I used is like this

    http://www.Amazon.com/optimal-shop-secure-digital-adapter/DP/B00BANFDWG

I use it for about a year or two.  Then, I replaced it with a 128 GB mSATA on another adapter card

    http://www.Amazon.com/GP/product/B009BA8V4M

The mSATA (as well as the adapter) card is significantly faster when doing things that require focused disk access, as at the start.  It's logical, because an mSATA (unlike a SD card) card is designed to be a drive on the computer (no storage media).  The total cost was about $55, probably even cheaper now.  I bought the card mSATA (Samsung brand) on eBay.  It has been used and the seller had the highest number, so I thought they were 'draws' laptops have been recycled or upgraded storage higher.  128 GB is the maximum for my old PowerBook, so it was a good deal (about $40 at the time).

I have posted more information in another similar topic (including a review of product for the adapter mSATA), a few months ago...
