Aspire 5742 crushed after repair

My laptop suddenly crashed with BSOD reading bugcheck_USB_driver again after that until it has been repaired twice two months ago. It is a persistent problem that happens inadvertently when any external device is used via USB.

Now I was told that the hard drive may need to be replaced. However, my warranty expired just recently and I can't use standard support more. Given that this problem has not been fixed, I wonder if my system is covered by the warranty of 90 days after the repair.

Could you get it someone please let me know?

If problem repeats, Acer repair under warranty must contact Service Center for repair once again, sorry

  • Need to find the correct reference for replacement screen Aspire 5742

    Hello

I need to find the correct part for replacement screen Aspire 5742.  The backlight does not work anymore, and I already bought a UPS to see that this model/version does not use a UPS (as the backlight is LED and integrated in the element of the screen).  I find the somewhat confusing model numbers table.  The full model version seems to be:

    5742 - 464G50Mnnk

S/N: [redacted to comply with guidelines]

SNID [redacted to comply with guidelines]

This seems to be a very good laptop that belongs to a mine Guigou, but not worth repair at the local dealership, and I'm sure I can replace the screen myself if I can get the right part, having already dismantled the set of sieves and to be an electronic engineer.

Either way, I guess that this version of model is the 5742, not the 5742 G (even if the model number has a 'G' in it: some of the confusion).  Any help would be appreciated.

Part numbers for the 15.6 TFT LCD for the Aspire 5742 are:

  • Aspire 5742-6798 UEFI boot problem

I have an Aspire 5742-6798 provided with Windows 7 installed.  Someone tried to upgrade to Windows 8.

Now, the laptop isn't even trying to boot from the hard drive. It goes directly to the initialization of the network.

I started from the 8.1 Windows installation media and clicked on "computer repair". I tried a reset, which has almost immediately. Discount did the same.  I went with Options in advance and went to a command prompt. bcdedit gives:

"The boot configuration data store could not be opened.

The requested system device cannot be found. »

DiskPart displays all partitions and volumes, normal and healthy.  volume of the list shows:

Acer volume 1 C NTFS Partition 579 GB healthy

Hidden 2 RECOVERY NTFS Partition 600 MB Healthy volume

Hidden 3 ESP FAT32 Partition of 300 MB Healthy volume

Volume 4 Partition 15 GB NTFS healthy hidden button

So I would like to boot from the recovery partition, so I can restore the default out-of-box laptop.  I suppose one of these partitions would do what I want.  Car-Alt + F10 does nothing to start.  Hard disk is configured for TPG.

How can I select a partition to boot from?  I know that I did a time, years; but I don't know how I did it.  The fact that the laptop uses UEFI change everything?

    Thanks in advance.

    Someone please mark this resolved.

    I'm a fool.

The laptop isn't UEFI.  This is why I couldn't manipulate the GPT disk.

Sorry for wasting time in person.

  • Acer aspire 5742 goes from black to a screen that says acer enter startup f2 then back to

My acer aspire 5742 doesn't start correctly, it goes from a black screen to a screen that says acer enter startup f2, then alternates between these two screens.

Right now I have managed to turn it on and I'm in the treatment of support up to an external hardrive.

I rang acer support and they told me I did this install windows 10 (about six months ago) and although he seemed fine, it was corrupting the (motherboard? I think that's what she said). the lady told me that I should restore laptop to factory settings.

Can someone please confirm for me that's what I have to do?

The fact that you were able to start normally after F2 in the bios menu, F9 to re - set the bios to factory default then F10 to save this setting, the default BIOS * strongly * suggest that the bios was losing his in the memory of the specific hard drive that was installed.

  • Aspire 5742 Bluetooth Stacker stopped working.

Immediately after, boots mobile message "Bluetooth stack has stopped working". There are two options 1) search on the web for the solution and close the program 2) close the program. There is no need to select option 1. It provides no solution or information about the problem. I tried all of the solutions provided by Windows Help. I also deleted the "Suite Bluetooth Win 7 (64) and pilots." the same error occurs after relaoding after the software and drivers. I can't connect to any Bluetooth device without encountering the error. Is there a solution? If not, are there other available software that are compatible with the Atheros Wireless adapter included with the Aspire 5742?

    Thank you for your response.

Since the last version of the driver has not fixed my problem, I reloaded the operating system, programs, and drivers. Now the bluetooth works properly.

  • Aspire 5742 recovery disc question

This is a long post.  I went through a lot of steps already.  I'm not an expert in technology, but I read directions well (most of the time), and my knowledge comes from working through the problems as they come.  I use a newer laptop to make different drives and disks.

I have an Acer Aspire 5742 Windows 7 hp 08. I had a few deep-rooted malware and decided to do a system restore. The system restore worked and the first thing I did was last updated from windows. There were 192 updates and it took a few hours for them to download and install. After the restart, while it was down to the 5 latest updates to install, a message appeared on the screen, indicating that updates failed, and all of the updates would return. Eight hours later nothing had changed. The screen looked exactly the same. I don't know if I did the wrong thing, but I assumed that the restoration was in an infinite loop and made a decision to perform recovery with my Acer OEM drives.

There is a system disk and the value of three with the Acer recovery disks. I don't know if all the recovery disks work exactly the same but in case they are not, I will include the information which has come to the screen. After the system disk is inserted and that windows support files, the options in this box Acer Recovery Management are-

Restore OS - OS restore to default factory default status. All the data on the C: drive will be deleted. (It was the option that I tried to use)
Restore the operating system and to keep the data of the user - only restore the operating system of your PC to the factory default. Your user account files will be transferred to C:\backup. This option does not remove the malware. (When I tried this: no user data were found on your computer)
Fully restore computer to factory settings - restore your computer back to the factory default state. All data in the hidden partition and the system partition will be restored. Before restoring, please delete all data on the hard drive (when I tried this: Please delete all files from your hard drive before you start.) This function will not work if there is no file on the hard disk.)

So by clicking on option 1, there's the box in the view of what is happening. The area becomes "restore the Destination."
The hard drive name: ST500LM000 - 1EJ162 ATA device
    Partition label: Acer
    Size 8.0 GB partition
    Copy of disk files.
Please insert the restore disc 1.
    Copy of disk files
    Insert disk 2.
    Copy of disk files
Insert disk 3 (it is 80% complete)
    Copy of disk files.

Shortly after that the disk turns on a message box appears saying "There are not enough disk space for the temporary files needed for this operation"

Press Ok. Wait a minute please. Acer boot screen then back "BOOTMGR is missing. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
Pressing C + A + earrings back to the boot screen Acer and return to "BOOTMGR, etc.".

The original crapped out drive and I replaced it with a hybrid 500 GB drive.  I have partitioned the hard drive for the upgrade of windows 8, which was offered when I bought the laptop.  I rarely used it, and it remained a 20 GB partition.  Think that the partition might be the problem I downloaded the portable computer Wizard mini partition my new tool and copied the files to a CD, a DVD and a flash drive.  All contained errors. Failure of the Conference on disarmament.  I tried another, he sounded like he was going to start and then returned to the screen BOOTMGR.  I pulled out a blank dvd, copied the file .iso from the score to it. The message on the screen: drive hard virtual cannot be mounted from image files or from removable media that is not formatted with the NTFS file.

I dug around and eventually find my flash drives. The flash player has a default FAT32 and I changed to NTFS (based on the above message) and formatted. I copied the file to the partition.  The message on the screen: a BONE was not found. Try disconnecting all drives that do not contain a BONE.  I made in all attempts above that I changed the boot order in the bios.

I tried another flash drive and kept the default FAT32.  It would sound like he was trying to start then:
PX - E61 Media test failure. Check the cable of
    Output of MOF broadcom PXE

What I am doing wrong?  What can I do to correct this player so that it be cleaned?

I forgot that I had an external enclosure for a hard drive, so I took out the hard drive for Acer and it subservient to my new laptop. I bought it when the original Acer hard drive became corrupt to try to look at the files. Here I am trying to understand the hard and a less complicated solution (for me) was at hand.  Of course, he had 4 partitions with only 8 GB for the Acer.  Don't know how it happened.  I am planning to wipe the disk completely and using the disks from Acer to start all over again.

Please accept my sincere thanks for taking the time to help me.  I learn something new every time I have to correct a problem and without the help of message boards I would be screwed.

  • Firefox crashes 2 seconds after the start. This happened after repair upgrade to Windows 7

After repair, update Firefox (9.0) will not work. I finally uninstalled and reinstalled without success. Following your directions of support I tried to delete my profile with partial success with a new Firefox profile would be run once and then back to an apparent after 2 seconds accident (as seen in Task Manager). After each new profile he followed the same routine of work once. Any help would be appreciated.

Try a "clean reinstall" Firefox by removing the Mozilla Firefox installation directory before you reinstall, as explained in these articles:

If Firefox still crashes after a clean reinstall, try the suggestions in the article Firefox crashes - help out, prevent and get help fixing accidents here and, if possible, after a crash report ID, as explained later in this article.

  • the goal even after repair

I recently bought a refurbished rebel t5 with the kit lens 18-55mm, as well as the 10-18 mm IS and 55-250 IS lens. Everything has been fine with all my equipment except for the 18-55 mm lens. When the rotation of the lens to zoom in or out, there was a notieable rubbing or grinding noise and there were a few sticking points where the goal was not spin smoothly. I took in a Canon customer service center and they we sent for repair. I am the home goal today and everything is exactly the same thing when I sent it. Same grinding noise, even the sticking points. The service details, bak I say "your product has been examinded and it was found that the party was out of position, causing noises occur. The part of the description says "Focusing ASSY YG2-2353-000 part number".

I have also two older lenses that I had with the original Canon EOS rebel, I have a 18-55 and 75-300. So none of my other 4 lenses have this problem, but I don't know how many questions it's really. This could potentially damage the lens over time? Or is that what I should really worry? It isn't really the effect on my shot, but I don't want to be slowly causing damage every time that I have to zoom in or out. Since he was sent back to me like that after repair, should I just assume that it is not a big deal, because the repair obiously Center don't think it was if they sent back like that?

    Thanks for any comments,

    Matt

    Matt,

I don't have this particular goal, but I've been involved with a lot of people what to do. «It is not really effect my shooting,...» ", seems to be like that.  The lens can jump gear fairly easily. You can reset it by deleting and expanding the focus and zoom all the way, both ways.  You can hear a few clicks.  Be gentle.  It's really not a good candidate for the repair, if it is under warranty.

Using it, he can't last forever or not. If not, buy the new improved version. The Canon EF - S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens STM or elsewhere, far, the best choice for Canon EF - S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens.

I need to my Aspire 5742 is recommended to replace the battery, but what size/type of battery do?

I find nothing in the settings or anywhere on the PC that gives me the necessary information.

    Hello

    1. This battery is compatible with your laptop.
    2. Here are the original batteries (first column) references:

  • Acer Aspire 5742 G died. I think the BIOS is damaged because all I get is a blank screen.

I was a heavy task on my other laptop and I wanted more RAM, so I decided out of the 4gigs of my Aspire 5742 G only to find out that this is not not a 4 × 1 GB of RAM (instead a 2x2gb DDR3). All I've done is out of RAM, I saw that it was only 2gigs and put in (nothing else, I know my way around computers quite). Then I thought to share work on the network, only to find out that my Aspire 5742 G will not start. Nothing. Not eveb the Acer logo appears. Access to the hard drive led is always off (not a single blink). Terrified. I thought it would be to display, but like I said the HARD drive light flashes once again.

So I jumped to Google. Discovered it probably a BIOS problem. So I downloaded the BIOS Acer will, comes to be welcomed with a ZIP file of gibberish. I have no idead how to use this ZIP to update my BIOS. The exe file is not good as the PC starts no and all other methods seem unlikely given the boot selection is not yet possible.

Can someone please guide me to the right maybe average to refresh my BIOS?

    Thanks in advance,

It may be almost impossible to diagnose a problem remotely, I hazard a guess and suggest that your problem has nothing to do with your BIOS.

Given your description of your actions, I would recommend you check and double-check your RAM seats. Also, make sure there is no damage to the socket. There is also the probability that static was able to destroy the RAM. You may need to try known good RAM to exclude this possibility.

It is not always possible to update a BIOS if there is a hardware problem.

Of course, I can't risk a BIOS Setup until there is absolutely no doubt that a problem does not exist elsewhere. If an update attempt fails, you might find yourself worse. In short, make sure that your RAM and the seating is 100% before looking elsewhere. Your choice of courses.

  • Aspire 5742 screws

Hi guys I have a laptop Acer Aspire 5742 I tried to fix it, but unfortunately I lost a screw in the process. I would like to ask what is the size of the screws of this model? I've attached a picture to show you what screw I lost.

In the picture, I pointed out the holes ... Any help is appreciated...

You need two m2, 5 * 8 for the top cover and a M2 * 3 for the battery bay. It's cheaper to get a set of ebay, for example:

  • ACER Aspire 5742 i5 with 16 GB of RAM?

    Hello

I have an Acer Aspire 5742 i5 model, now with 8 GB of RAM.

I tried to install the two 8 GB DDR3 modules, but the machine will not work. It will boot, but crashes on Ubuntu when I connect.

I tried memtest86 and it crashes almost immediately.

I've already updated the BIOS with the latest version I could find (1.30), but not luck...

When I go into the BIOS, he notices the extra memory, although the screen shows only 4 characters (6384 instead of 16384).

I tried just one 8 GB modules, one of them with another 4 GB (12 GB total) etc. All attempts have resulted in the same way: Boot, but the accident.

Officially, I know it supports only 8GB, but the other laptop where I write is also an i5 that officially goes up to only 8 GB, but is now happy with the same memory modules...

So, I was wondering... is - this really impossible to have 16 GB on this model? Or is there a workaround? I searched (Google takes me...) and I couldn't find a solution...

At least, I would like to know the reason why it does not work... BIOS?, Chipset? CPU?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello domusonline,

You said "I have an Acer Aspire 5742 i5 model". For example, the processor Intel Core i5 - 480 M processor---> max memory size: 8 GB.

Check your model of processor on the Intel site.
