Assigned ip address

Hi all

My MacBook Pro has problem to connect to my wifi, it says "wifi a self assigned IP address 168.254.98.138 and won't be able to connect to the internet.

I decided to do a clean install of El capitan and I still have the question, I'm also under Bootcamp with Windows 10 and have no problem to connect to wifi.

looking for your help,

Thank you

If the problem occurs in OS X, but does not occur in Windows on the same computer hardware was waived.

If the problem occurs after an erase and install software was waived.

I guess the only other common denominator is the wireless network.  Have you tried another network?

  • WAG54GS allows wireless clients to connect but will not assign IP addresses for full connectivity

I have three XP 3 computers connected between them in a MS home network via a wired hub and access to the internet through a wired connection to a router WAG54GS.  DHCP is enabled on the router, the IP addresses are correctly assigned and internet access to these computers Wired is not a problem.

In the past, I've connected also with success of laptops to the internet via the feature wireless router, but having not used that for a while, I think now it will not work.  I tried to connect with laptop computers running XP 2 and Vista Home and the problem is the same.  Laptops find broadcasting wireless router and connect but they are not assigned IP addresses during the phase of "Acquiring IP address" resulting in a "Limited or no connectivity message."  Packets are sent to the router, but none are received in return. It is with the strength of the Signal at 73% and the quality of the link to 100%.  Ipconfig displays no deafult assigned gateway and the IP auto configured to be 169.254.96.1 for example.  Ping the router gives "Destination host unreachable".  Not surprisingly, laptops are able to 'see' other computers wired on the MS. network  These laptops connect correctly to the MS network and internet if I change the wired connection.

If I check the status of the network wireless router configuration good laptops MAC addresses are displayed, but the computer name and the IP address are missing.  I usually use a protection WEP 128 bit on two channels 6 and 13, but it makes no difference if I change this without guarantee, once again the connection occurs, but no IP address is assigned.  DHCP is enabled in the tab for basic configuration of router from 192.168.1.100 with selected up to 50 users DHCP (and DHCP works very well for cable customers).  The IP address of the router is set to 192.168.1.2.  Wi - Fi router is set to "allow everything".  Default settings are used for the parameters wireless advanced, although I tried to reduce the 100 interbval tag at 50 and the RTS and Fragmentation threshold to 2304.  The policy of Internet access on the router is disabled.

If I have (for purposes of testing only) connect laptops to one of my neighbors secure networks (there are several) to connect laptops very well so I can access the internet, DHCP works great on laptops.  Firmware is v1.00.08 (I looked this modernization, but while I can identify my router version 1.2 downloads talk about types of Annex A and Annex B are mutually exclusive and I'm not clear I have.  I am also doubtful as to if the firmware upgrade would make a difference, because there is no trace of the upgrade solve this kind of problem and I had the Wireless does not work if long ago).  I'm running out of ideas, is there something that I missed?

Well in this case you can try to upgrade the firmware of your router, go to the website http://www.linksysbycisco.com/UK/en/support/WAG54GS/download...insert of your router model serach tab... select the correct version of your router... Download the firmware file... save this file on the desktop.

Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware of the device: -.
Open a page in Internet Explorer browser on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1... Leave the name blank username & password use admin lowercase...
Click the 'Administration' tab - then click on the 'Upgrade Firmware' under the tab-here, click on 'Browse' and navigate the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait a few seconds until it shows that "the update is successful," after the upgrade of the firmware, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned to the same page OR it will say 'cannot display the Page.

    Now reset your router:
Press and hold the button of reset for 30 seconds... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now re - configure your router...

Once you re-configured settings of your router, and you are able to go online Wired computer, here are some settings that you can configure your wireless router, I think this might solve your problem

Open an Internet Explorer browser on your computer (desktop) wired page. In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Let the empty user name & password use admin lowercase...
For wireless settings, follow these steps: -.
    Click on the Wireless tab
-Here, select manual configuration... Wireless network mode must be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the name box of the wireless network (SSID) in order to differentiate your network from your network of neighbors...

-Set the Standard - 20 MHz Radio band and change the Standard channel to 11-2, 462 GHz... Wireless SSID broadcast should be enabled and then click on save settings...
Please take note of the name of the wireless network (SSID) because it's the network identifier...
    For wireless security: -.
Click the sub-tab under wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the mode of WEP wireless security, encryption must be 64-bit. Let the empty password, do not type in anything... Under type of WEP Key 1 in all 10 numbers please (numbers only and no mailbox for example: your 10-digit phone number) and click on save settings... Please note the 1 WEP key as it comes to the security key for the wireless network...

    Click the settings advanced wireless
Change the interval of tag to 75 > change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304, change the RTS threshold to 2304 > click 'save settings '...
Now let's see if you can locate your wireless network and try to connect... And check if you are able to navigate.

  • Always use assigned IP addresses does not

I select 'always use assigned IP addresses' for some of my vApps in which virtual computers have ip dependence. According to the documentation, if I select this option, even when I turned off the VAPP, it must maintain the same ip address when I turn it back. But this doesn't seem to work. Whenever I have power off and turn the vapp, it gets a different external ip address. This solution only to keep the org or VAPP ip address or it will retain the same external ip address?

    Pls suggest.

  • Unable to connect to the internet - satellite L40 cannot assign IP address

    Hello

I have 2 desktop (1 - 1 Toshiba laptop) and 1 wired cable adsl INTERNET connection modem airties RT-101. There is no problem using the Internet with desktop XP.

But when I plug the cable into the Toshiba (vista) Ethernet card, I can't connect to the INTERNET.
He is unable to assign an IP address, I checked, and there's something blocking the connection I think.

Please note that there is no problem with firewalls, because they are now closed.

    Hello

Try to start the command console and use the command:

    Ipconfig / renew

This should help to refresh the IP address.
If this is not possible, then some settings must be verified.

In this case, I recommend reinstalled the LAN driver, then check if the TCP/IP protocol settings are set to automatic.
Disable all firewalls, check the connection of the new.

  • Assign IP address to the Interface VLAN of Web Admin?

It is a simple question, I can't find can in the web config page to assign an IP to an interface vlan.

Example: I create a vlan 40 and assign ip 192.168.40.254/24 to it, I can accomplish this with the CLI with 'config; interface vlan 40; "192.168.40.254 IP address 255.255.255.0" but it does not seem to exist in the web interface!

  • Assign host names to deployed VM based on the assigned IP address DNS record

    Hello

I'm trying to set up Lab Manager in a lab environment. The laboratory uses static IP, so I set up static IP pools that will assign an IP address to a deployed virtual computer. However, Lab Manager requires that you provide the hostname before you deploy (the default is ConfigXXVMY, XX and there is a number (ex.) Config30VM0). We already have DNS records to our IP addresses, and we need the hostname to match with the IP address.

For example, the IP 192.168.1.5 has a labpc5.ourlab.company.com DNS record, and the host name should be labpc5.

When I deploy a model, Sysprep runs and it will change all network information, but it changes the hostname of this ConfigXXVMY, not the host name that resolves the IP address is assigned. I need to know how to fix this, or if there is a kind of way to make that change to pre or post sysprep.

Note: I tested this especially with Windows Server 2003 and 2008 - I intend to eventually include Linux OS and this issue also apply here.

If someone has an entry that could help me solve this problem, I would really appreciate it.

    Thank you.

Yes, if the network works immediately after sysprep and before you reboot... then just write a post customization.

Pre and post customization are command line arguments.

    i.e.

    PREandPOSTscript.bat postcustomization

There, you'll need something like this:

    off @echo

    If "% 1" == "precustomization")

    tasks precustomization echo

    ) ElseIf '%1% ' == 'postcustomization')

    tasks postcustomization echo

    ) (other)

    unknown command line Echo

    )

The syntax is another post here: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/167069

  • How to assign an address mac manually via the SDK

    Hi all

I want to add a NETWORK card to an instance of a computer virtual via the API vSphere for Perl with a MAC address of 'me '.

I don't want, assigned to the vCenter by the MAC automatically, which is the default value.

I am frustrated because I have not found anything in the internet.

    Can someone help me?

    Thanks in advance,

    Henning

You will need to call the ReconfigVM_Task specify a specification of the configuration of the addition of a new type device VirtualEthernetCard and when you add the new vNIC, you have the option of specifying how the MAC address will be generated: http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/vc-sdk/visdk400pubs/ReferenceGuide/vim.vm.device.VirtualEthernetCard.html you will need to set the addressType to manual and macAddress at the MAC address string you want to set , remember that the MAC address must be in the range of 00:50:56:00:00:00 - 00:50:56:3F:FF:FF

  • E3000 will not assign IP address

I have trouble getting a desktop PC running Windows XP SP3 computer to connect to the E3000.  It has a Linksys wireless adapter.  Using Linksys Wireless Manager I try to connect.  It is said the Wifi on the E3000 button and then press the 'Connect' button.  It is for a long time and then fails.  The wireless icon in the system trap show: status: network address acquisition.

The E3000 appears in the list of routers and force signel is great.  I tried the security key entering manual method and it does not work.  No idea why it won't work?  It used to work but then abruptly stopped.

Thanks for the tips.  I tried to uninstall Linksys Wireless Manager, reboot, and use the Windows, same problem Wireless Manager.  Tried to uninstall the wireless card software, reboot and reinstall, same problem.  Uninstalled again but this time I cycled the power on the E3000 before reinstalling, and then it worked.  Something funky happened to the router.

    Thanks again for your help.

  • Extended to Airport Extreme Ethernet ports not IP address assignment.

I have an Airport Extreme as my basic router and another Airport Extreme and an Airport Express, which runs from the router.

Since the extended Airport extreme, I have an Ethernet Hub and a Macbook Pro connected via an Ethernet Port, but every time I attach any device to the ethernet port on the Airport Extreme of the device has an auto assigned IP.

Although, when I'm attached to the long terminal Airport Express, it's the IP assignment correctly.

Is a way I can make the Airport Extreme to assign the IP address?

Is a way I can make the Airport Extreme to assign the IP address?

The two airports 'extension'... the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express... are in Bridge Mode when they "extend a wireless network".  DHCP (the process of allocating IP addresses... is disabled when a device is in Bridge Mode... it's up to your "main" AirPort Extreme to assign all IP addresses to network devices.)

The 'extension' airports simply pass the IP address information to connected devices... the devices 'extension' assign IP addresses themselves.

Since the AirPort Express works correctly, it seems that the 'extension' AirPort Extreme is the culprit.  From what you have told us, it seems that if the Ethernet switch on the device is not working properly. We learn more about this unit before us to jump to conclusions.

    (1) what is a newer version of the 'tour' of the AirPort Extreme or an older version of 'flat' or 'square' to the extreme?  If it is the old version, we need the model number of the bottom of the unit.  It starts with an "A" followed four digits.

    (2) when you connect an Ethernet cable to one of the Ethernet ports to the extreme that extends, is the little green light next the port light?

    (3) what operating system you are using on the Mac or the PC that you use to configure the airports?

  • WiFi worked very well. Tried to connect the second device. "Wi - Fi auto-assignée 169.254.49.8 IP address and won't be able to connect... »

One of our MacBook has been connected to the internet through our router base station Airport Express wireless and wifi worked very well. All of a sudden, the other MacBook could not connect. After a few days of no connection on one while the other worked, we rebooted the modem. Now neither laptop connects. We called our ISP and they verified that all is well with our internet service or the modem. Internet works fine with the cable plugged directly on each machine. Under network in system preferences, I get this message: "Wi - Fi 169.254.49.8 auto assigned IP address and won't be able to connect to the internet." When I run the diagnostic, I get a message saying that my network configuration has changed, but it has not changed anything. We have never gone and nothing changed since we first set up the modem and the AEBS. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

Yes, the express can do that... Suddenly lose the configuration and return to the bridge for example even when connected to a modem to bridge.

The solution is simple... Press reset and redo the Express installation.

NOTE... an Express is not expected that the main router... It's light to etc. of airprint, airplay wireless bridge. Don't wait to have no problems when you use the Express to do the work of the extreme or TC or another router should do.
