If you tell the BIOS, can you please teach me exactly what to do on my motherboard? I got lost.
Thanks again!

All 32-bit Microsoft operating systems will address only 4 GB of TOTAL address space

It's leaving you with 2.99 GB usable after the address space of the equipment is subtracted from the 4 gb total.

To use your full 12 GB, you will need to run the 64-bit operating system...

If your OS is pre-installed, download the version 64 - bt of the edition you use here...

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1

English x 64: X 17 - 59465.iso

Windows 7 Professional SP1

English x 64: X 17 - 59186.iso

Windows 7 Home Premium SP1

English x 64: X 17 - 58997.iso

Use the code that you will find on the sticker of COA attached to your computer

If you have a retail version, I think that perhaps a 64-bit disc in the package, along with the 32-bit disk...

The one you use to install Windows, it will be necessary to back up your important files, as a Devils change requires a clean installation

    Hello:

The memory problem you reported is normal.

Part of memory has been reserved for some devices of system such as the integrated graphics card.

The issue of the video card does not...

I see the product that your PC came with factory-installed W8.1.

In order to get a video card no HP to work, you need to change 2 settings of the BIOS before installing your video on any PC card that came with W8 or newer version of the factory.

See this link to change the BIOS settings.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03653200/

Also before you install your video card, you must uninstall the graphics card in Device Manager, check the box uninstall driver, stop, disconnect the PC and install your video card.

You can do this after you change the BIOS settings.

I have an iMac 27 ", end of 2013 model. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on it via BootCamp.

I ordered (4) 8 GB of RAM from Crucial.com and install myself.

    Hello

I have Toshiba satellite A-C55-19N with Windows 7 32 bit. It has 4 GB of memory installed, but only 2.39 is usable.

    BIOS is the latest.
I can't find the option to change anywhere in the system.

My desktop with core i5 - 2500K can see 3.29 GB to 4 GB of RAM, why toshiba can not see?

32-bit systems (no matter if its Win 7) Win XP, Vista etc.) supports only 3.2 GB of RAM
    It is the 32-bit boundary.

The other small part (300 MB roundabout) is shared by the graphics card.
Therefore, the system displays only 2.39 GB RAM

I read somewhere that someone had success in re-sitting their CPU on the motherboard.  If you are comfortable doing this, you can try it.  Otherwise, I would do the same type of memory that they have been reported as compatible for their mother.

    Hello world

Need help on setting up the RAM.

    I have a Z800, running win7 ultimate with 24 GB by default

I added 16 GB of RAM but only 24 GB usable

I've been in the msconfig and uncheck maxium memory then restarts, but nothing does not change.

Is it a device configured with a processor single or double processors?

Only a two-way configuration allows more than 24 GB of memory, see page 10-11

  • I have 4 GB of RAM, but only 3.75 GB are usable/available: why?

I bought a desktop computer Dell Inspiron 400 in 2010.

It has a processor AMD Athlon 2650c installed with a captivity of memory RAM of 4 GB but only 3.75 GB is usable or available, why? Where's the other Go.25?

There are a few possibilities.  If you use a 32-bit operating system, there is not enough bits of address (to use) more than this amount of memory, so the rest (le.25) is literally inaccessible to the system.

If you have a 64 bit OS and it still shows, it is because your system is reserving some of them to be used for low level such as video memory system functions.

  • Satellite L850-D2S - 8 GB of RAM but only 2.72 GB available

D2S-L850 satellite PSKG8R-03S003RU. Windows 8. It's a 4 GB of RAM. In the 'system information' was written 4 (2.72 available) RAM. Set the bar for another 4 GB. He was 8 (2.72 available) RAM. Why only 2.72 available?

How do you ensure to use more RAM? Sorry for bad translation.
    I am from Russia

The laptop supports max 16 GB of RAM. So you should be able to use max RAM 2x8GB
I think you should try this:

    1. press Windows + R key.
    2. then type MSCONFIG
    2. System Configuration window appears on the screen.
    3. click on the tab named "boot".
    4. click on "Advanced Options" and uncheck the box 'memory Maximum.
    5 reset

I hope this helps, your comments would be appreciated

  • Equium L20 with 256 MB of RAM but only 191 MB are available

I was wondering if someone could explain what is happening with the RAM memory on my machine.

It says it comes with 256 MB of DDR2 RAM. I can't run Norton antivirus to all pc games requiring a 256 MB of RAM as it keeps 'only 191 MB of RAM' available

Can someone explain what is happening?

    Thank you very much

    Just reply:
The laptop uses the shared video memory card.
(Perhaps an ATI RADEON Xpress 200 M graphics card with available 32 MB to 128 MB.)
Currently, the video graphics card sharing 65 MB of main memory. (256 MB 191 MB = 65 MB)

  • In Windows 7 has 4 GB of ram but only 2.75 gb usable

    I have
    Win7 32 bit os.
    AMD phenom II x 2 550 processor
    4 GB of ram

but it shows only 2.75 GB usable.

    Why so much?

A 32-bit operating system is not able to use more than 2.75 GB of RAM (maximum addressable memory is 2 * 32, which is about 2.75 gig). In order to use full 4 GB of RAM, you need a 64-bit operating system.

  • I installed 4 GB of RAM in my computer Windows XP which has detected correctly 4096 MB, but the system information that 2 GB of Ram available.

I recently installed a maximum of 4 GB of RAM for my Win XP Home computer: four tips of 1024Mo in 4 available memory locations. Story: It came with 512 MB of RAM (256 MB two cards to 2 of the 4 slots). I sometimes treat files large image or video in a few applications, and if I do too much without saving the files, I get something like "...". not enough memory to complete... "and can not save either and lose an hour or two of work, all frozen, treatment and once had to turn off the computer by pulling the power plug (nothing else worked). Later, I added two boards of 1024 MB and moved the two 256 MB for the other two locations. The computer has detected correctly the RAM and showed 2,560.00 of available physical memory total MB of RAM in system information and available physical memory 2.00 GB (currently about 550 MB, current process). I put 4 GB page file. That helped a lot with the processing of these applications, but if do not attention, the same "...". not enough memory... "thing and I lost the job. So I added another 2 identical cards of 1 GB replacing the two planks of 256 MB. The 4 GB of RAM, I've added exact IS correct type for my computer. Set the pagefile to 1.5 times RAM available, etc, so that's it of OK. NOW THE PROBLEM, if it'S a PROBLEM: in the information system RAM is detected OK, showing 4,096.00 MB total physical memory, BUT not much more available memory: 2.16 GB available physical memory! Total virtual memory 2.00 GB remains the same in both cases, even if I put the pagefile of 12 GB. Page file space shows what I put in more added about 2 GB.
SO THE QUESTION: Is all the 4 GB of RAM (essentially) available for use with my operations high megabytes to image and video processing applications?  Or is Win XP steal my RAM and makes the page file? What happens here? You wish to know if I've lost $120,00 on two more strips of 1 GB of memory. Thanks loads, if someone can tell me.
Did not have a pretty good test in image/video applications to find out if I won anything yet. Always the same 550MO ongoing process. And Yes, I spent hours on the things in forums of online learning on the page file and RAM, most of which I knew already, but there is no explanation on the information system does not more than 2 GB of RAM available.
Thanks loads, if someone can tell me.

"My OS is Windows XP family 32-bit." End of the story for the possibility to use up to 4 GB of RAM. No, there is no way to magic, you can force a Windows 32-bit operating system to use all 4 GB of RAM. There is a difference between the question of whether a motherboard will support a certain amount of memory and an operating system be able to access memory. Sorry, you missed this fact in your research. Oh, and if you want to try one of the many Linux distros do not forget to use a 64-bit - after checking your processor is 64-bit also. That yours is not.

  • Windows 7 32 bit with 6 GB of RAM 6 but still sees only 2.99 usable. I thought that Windows 7 fix this limitation.

I thought that Windows 7 32-bit(Ultimate version) fixed limit of RAM.  I have 6 GB installed, he sees that the 6 but he says only 2.99 is usable. I have to go to 64-bit?

Yes, you must go to 64-bit to use all the RAM.

32-bit may signal the presence of all the 6 GB but only treaty that 4 GB and part of that 4 GB is used for material - mainly the video memory and BIOS device.
