  I reinstalled the OEM version of windows 8 using option Dell backup and restore. I have Inspiron 15R laptop computer special edition. After it has been installed at the factory setting this mess happened with my hard drive

  My hard drive is now divided into those partitions

  1:EFI System 500 MB Partition
  Partition of 2:OEM 40 MB
  3:recovery 500 MB Partition
  4:OS (C :)) 462.62 GB)
  5: OEM Partition 198,36 GB *.
  6: E: F 261,6
  7:recovery 7.79 GB Partition *.

  as you can see, I had 2 OEM partition and the recovery partition 2. In fact, I lost one of my disk partition which turns into OEM

  How can I get my GB 198,36 DOS partition also contains some data disc Manager showing 83% free of it.

• Past POP IMAP in El Capitan - big mess!

  Past my account POP of Comcast to IMAP, in order to better coordinate the Mail (9.3) on my iMac (El Capitan 10.11.4), with a Macbook Pro (also El Capitan 19.11.4) an I Pad (latest IOS) and an old iPod.  Now I can receive and send messages on all devices via IMAP Comcast.

  However my mailboxes (Inbox, Outbox etc.) are now in total disarray after I imported their mboxes into the library folder to my new IMAP Comcast account.  The iMac, which had about 7000 messages in his Inbox now has about 400, while the iPad seems to have each of them, and the MacBook Pro a few thousand.  iCloud is lit and have backup on my time machine.

  Cruelly for expert advice!  Useful suggestions on how to make things work properly would be very appreciated!

  Check the webmail site all messages are there and that the IMAP settings are activated it. Then check each device to ensure that the appropriate settings of IMAP are there and correct as the server and port.

  If the messages still not displayed, you can reindex messages. Quit Mail and access your user library and follow this path:

  ~Library/Mail/v3/MailData

  Find all files starting with the Index of the envelope or ExternalUpdate and move it to the trash. Launch of Mail and click on continue to reindex messages. Be patient and let it finish indexing. This could take a long time with a lot of messages.

  If this fix a computer, repeat the operation on the other.

  I used createinstallmedia to make a boot USB el capitan drive. I'm going to replace the hard drive from one computer to another, and he would use the USB boot disk to install el capitan on the new disc. The command worked very well, and I can open Setup very well. When I take Option and reboot I see the installer from USB option, but then about 3/4 of the way through the progress bar I just get a grey screen with a circle and a line through it (such as no smoking sign).

  My MBP end 2011 is up-to-date, and I downloaded a new copy of the installer from el capitan today for this. I have also ensured that reformat USB OS x scope and GUID key.

  I was under the impression that I would be able to use the USB to boot (or almost) no matter which mac and run disk utility, or the installer. I'd love to help if anyone has any info on why it does not work.

  I would try to use another USB drive, they can sometimes fail to work for the boot also try other USB ports & remove all non-essential devices.

  I always back up my Quickbooks to a flash drive and an external Maxtor drive, but recently, I received the following message when you try to back up Quickbooks, ... "you don't have permission to save in this location.  Contact the administrator for permission. »

  I have problems with my mouse Logitech MX Revolution gel upward and the movement of the eradically.  Setpoint seems to get worse, I uninstalled and reinstalled.  I am running Vista Home Premium.

  Most wireless mice have problems with gel and erratic movement.  People have done everything to keep only new, fresh batteries in them all the time, tying tape receivers upside down under a desk because of interference from other wireless devices in the area, setting up a secure connection and updated the software of the manufacturer.  If patches are different for each person, but do not seem to be associated with something specific to Vista.  If you do a search for 'mouse wireless upward and erratic freezing', you will see every post that I talk to all the different answers that worked for some people.  Another thing I've seen is to change the channel.  Here is the link to Logitech mouse forum: http://forums.logitech.com/logitech/board?board.id=hardware_mice&nobounce

  I guess you can try the XP driver for this support from your PC and driver page and see if it works (on W7 XP drivers work).  You may need to install manually as the graphics driver.

  original title: serious problem with my computer!

  I'm trying to fix my computer because something is obviously wrong with it and I'm not very good with computers, so I don't really know what I'm doing, and I think I might have messed up even more now.

  Recently, I tried to back up my files on my d drive but he said he couldn't because my c drive was damaged so he told me I could fix it and I tried, but he says he couldn't when it is in use and told me to program it so that he could check it out when I start then my computer. Then I restarted my computer, and every time I restart my computer, it has a problem back on. The screen remains black then that all the keys are lit and then after a minute or two, it hangs, and then she did it again and again until I have press and hold the power button to turn it off. I have to finish by wait 5 minutes before turning on so it lights correctly, otherwise it will just do that again.

  Then he started toward the top of normal, of course I know what the disk check thing looks like now because what happens now, but before it has not then I thought it did not work and as a last resort, I wanted to wipe my hard drive clean because I tried everything I could, and I don't have the money to fix right now and probably won't for a while.   These two articles are quite old (2005 and 2006) so I don't know why these said 80 to 100 GB is because it's the size of HARD drive that was available in 2005/2006 and information may not be current. I think that the 100 GB should work with a T40 if one ATA the T40 with no SATA.

  There are also some Thinkpads that have a white list in the BIOS, so it will not start if you insert a HARD disk that is not in the whitelist (take a look at the link below). The T40 is not here, but I don't know whether or not T40 have such an authorization for the HARD drive. If there is no white list in the BIOS to the T40 any ATA drive should work in theory.

  I'm not sure if the T40 will benefit many a SSD and don't know if there is any SSD with ATA. I've seen that SATA SSD. Also I don't know if I would spend so much money on an upgrade for such an old computer even if an ATA SSD is available. When you buy a new laptop it is SATA and ATA HDD/SSD will not fit. I recommend instead to consider a SSD later when you decide to buy a new computer. In normal use a quality SSD should work properly for many years with cache, temporary files, paging files and so on. The problem of wear SSD level is a bit overrated.

  If you have a friend with a 100 GB ATA HDD, I suggest that you take the HARD drive and see if works or not. You can also wait for more answers and someone might have more info on this HARD drive you can and cannot use the T40.

• How to share the root of a hard disk in Win7?

  I am able to share a folder, but cannot share the root of a hard disk. Homegroup is off.  In addition, even if I have the password to 'OFF' I always get invited to do since the XP computers on the network, but not Vista computers. Weird?

  Win7 computers have full access to the C:\ root on Vista and XP in network of machines. But on computers Win7 the C:\ root is blocked. How to open readers for full access. I worked with permissions in fsmgmt.msc without a bit of luck. What is going on. It is not that difficult.

  OK, that's the problem with Windows 7: I had possession of the disk on the local computer (by default), but this is not enough. I had to give "everyone" the drive to another computer to access property. That means logging in inspired by the network from another machine to Win7 computer, you property as "everyone" and therefore, the authorization to access the drive.

  So, here is what I did. Right-click on the hard drive from windows Explorer. Go to properties. Click Security. Click on change. "Everyone" add to the Group and the permissions you want. Then, go to sharing and share the drive as you normally would. The root of the drive will be accessible on the network.

  I understand it now, but it is poorly explained in documents I've read. I spent hours of research on this and cannot understand why MS makes it so hard to share a drive on a network. Totally absurd.

  I hope this helps others trying to do the same thing. In a small home network, it is very common need to share multiple disks in the root of c:\.

  Follow these instructions to fix the Windows Firewall:
  Download and install repair Windows:

  When the repair of Windows opens, click on the tab to start repairs, click Start. Unselect all the boxes except for the following:
  -Reset the registry permissions
  -Reset the permissions of files
  -WMI repair
  -Repair Windows Firewall

  I recently discovered that I have seem to be 'locked' on my firewall settings.  I discovered it not because I had problems with my firewall or internet but because I went to control panel to change some settings of firewall and found this:

  So I press "Use recommended settings" and think computer for a few seconds and then nothing changes or happens.
  My firewall seems to work very well, but why I can't access its settings?

  The first thing I did was a scan of my computer with Microsoft Security Essentials and Spy-bot Search and Destroy.  Microsoft Security Essentials found a virus, but after I removed and restarted my computer the problem remains.

  Method 2: I made a boot minimum and restarted my computer with ONLY Microsoft services (I disabled all startup unique programs and service not microsoft).  The problem persisted.

  Method 4: Not applicable for me.

  Method 5: I downloaded the antivirus and used today at about 18:30.  No viruses were found.

  Method 1

  I suggest you to run a scan using Windows Defender Offline offline just to make sure that the computer is clean, you have to download it from another computer if possible.

  Method 2
  I think an upgrade on the spot or complete reinstall would be necessary due to unknown changes that may have been made by the virus. You must back up all your files by using the option to be sure. If you perform a full reinstall you should analyze your backup before restoring the files.
