Automatic Proxy settings do not pick up per workstation

We have setup in our network and active TMG2011 the WPAD protocol on the DHCP server and DNS entry has also been implemented, problem is that only very few Workstations are automatically pick up the TMG Proxy. For example, if I activate "Parameters of Proxy Auto" (IE7) in my PC, it will not pick up the proxy, but if I put the script http://***proxy/wpad.dat its detect settings automatically. Can someone give me a solution for this please?

If I transfer my work (with a proxy server) to my network network (without server), I have to restart the browser until he realizes that there is no proxy server to authenticate with. Until I do that, (re) loading pages gives me an error.

However, when you go on the other hand, he gently acknowledges that there is a server, and no restart is required before continuing

I have the active automatic proxy settings. I tried to select "no proxy server", but I still need to restart firefox to make it work.

  • Why the proxy settings are not respected

I set up SSH as a proxy server on my laptop when I'm on a public network and configure Firefox to use the proxy by completing the manual Proxy config.

If SSH doesn't work, I get this error message as expected: "the proxy server refuses connections" when I try to access any website EXCEPT Google.

Searches on Google and access Google.com still works, even when the proxy server is not up. That seems broken.

When the proxy server IS up, Google searches do not appear to use it.

Google is my default search provider. If I try to access Bing, Firefox is behaving as expected (no access when proxy is out, throw up debugging indicating new connections when the proxy is up). If I change from Bing to be default search provider, the behavior of the two remains the same (proxy will use Bing, Google does not work).

Why access to Google (and only Google?) ignore the proxy settings? Are there other sites of 'magic' that would also ignore the proxy? I use the proxy because I want to protect my internet traffic when I'm on public networks, if Firefox can randomly ignore them for some sites but not others, how can I trust him?

My configuration problem. I realized that any site that uses https worked, while others are not.

Somehow the "use this proxy server for all protocols" got unchecked. Audit, it solves the problem.

  • Proxy settings will not save to the program or through prefs.js.

Whenever I start up firefox 4 RC1, the proxy settings are on manual configuration. I have no proxies and put to no proxy each time. When I close and reopen it, it goes back to the manual configuration.
I tried manually change this setting through prefs, js and saving it until I opened firefox again and it resets it to manual configuration of the proxy.
I also tried to delete prefs.js so it would generate a new but still no luck.

I also have this problem unless it happens in the final 4.0 LTS.

In my case, this question has to do with the incompatibilities of Add-ons and extensions with Firefox 4.0.

To solve this problem: first disable all add-ons/extensions in Firefox. Your proxy settings should now be able to save. Now activate one by one and you will quickly find that one is the cause of the problem.

Hope that this help anyone having this problem!

  • Windows could not automatically detects the network proxy settings

Recently, I noticed a triangle appearing little attention with my network icon in the taskbar. When I right click and solve problems, it comes with this message. Windows could not automatically detect the network proxy settings. My internet has been really slow lately, but I wonder if there is a problem with my network? or is - something that my ISP has set?

(This message is intended for all problem reports)

Check the Internet Options (Internet Explorer tools or configuration panel / /Connections Options tab / LAN Settings and make sure that Proxy Server is not checked even if you use Firefox.)  Check the settings in Firefox Tools / Advanced connections / settings (should be use system proxy settings or no proxy).

Search for malware, especially using malwarebytes.

Try these commands in this order in an elevated command prompt.  Not the first first, then reboot and try.  If still bad, try the second.

    netsh winsock reset
    netsh int ipv4 reset

If they do not help, please after the output of a command ipconfig/all-order

  • I uninstalled an add-on, but it continues to reset my Manual proxy settings whenever I run, causing firefox to not connect to internet.

I recently installed an add-on (ZenMate) which subsequently I uninstalled because it's buggy. I never open it.

It is supported my proxy settings. When I launch FF, it now says "The Proxy Server is refusing relationship» I go into my network settings and notice that he selected the automatic configuration of the proxy, with a link to some zenmate garbage. So I reset it to no proxy and voila! Problem solved. Except that this isn't the case. Out of FF, and then run again, it restores every time of automatic proxy garbage.

    Can someone please help?

    Thank you!

Could check you something: just before the release of Firefox, make a backup copy of the file prefs.js, which must have the own proxy setting ('no proxy'). Then we will compare after his stop.

    Here's how:

Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button. This should launch a new window that lists the various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

Scroll down the list and create a copy of prefs.js as follows: click right prefs.js > copy and then immediately right-click in an empty area of the margin > paste. In a few moments, prefs - Copy.js must appear in your profile folder.

Leave this window open, switch back to Firefox and output, either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • (menu bar) File > Exit

Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup, then repeat them process previous and windows should create a second copy. Right-click the second copy > Edition and Windows should start the file in Notepad. This can take some time if you have accumulated a lot of custom settings. If you are looking for proxy.type is that he always set to No proxy as it is during your session:

    user_pref("network.proxy.type", 0);

    If it has been changed:

    • Change it to 0, as shown in the previous line and save the file.
    • Launch Firefox back up again and see if it works.

    If it still shows 0:

Before starting Firefox, confirm that this user.js has been recreated in this folder.

  • LAN Proxy Server settings are not retained

I get an error of security proxy server credentials when connecting to Office365 from the local network connected PC Split HP runnng Windows 8.1.  We use a proxy server.

When I check the control panel configuration, internet options, Connections tab, network, under the proxy server section settings button the box IS COCHEE to «use a proxy server for your LAN...» »

I uncheck the box, click on OK and it backs up to the Connections tab.  In this tab, the box apply is grayed out (which may seem reasonable, given that the changes I made are on a screen of a level down on the LAN configuration screen.

Anyway, after a while and always after the system has been locked on in «standby mode", settings return to check a box to «Use a proxy server for your LAN...» »

The changes are simply not found.  My user account is administrator.

Any solution to this setting removed by using a proxy server?

I solved it without defining the system to its default settings.  Thinking that maybe it's a corruption of user admin role I added other roles to my user profile form which also have the ability / permission to make changes.  Fact:

Control accounts of user/group/tab Manage User accounts / light tone my admin account / Advanced tab/advanced/users/select my account/member/added the roles of IIS_UISRS, network and Network Configuration operators.  (not easy thinking for an average of fall through user)

    all saved and accrued

Once this is done, the Lan Proxy settings have been stable.

However, a prior problem with the audio still exists.  The default value of the audio device continues to change speakers on the 2nd screen rather than the laptop speakers.  I can make changes and he returns back from a seemingly random way.  HP, a system Dingo!  Maybe a bios update will fix.
