I upgraded my card mother cpu ram and hard drive. I reinstalled windows xp home edition has got all of the updates. After 9 latest updates download and installtion was going well until I rebooted the computer and go to page window showing all the icons that I get a blue screen and the computer restarts its self and does not stop. How can this be corrected?
Hi KevinRy,
Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!
Unplug all external devices.
Try to start in safe mode. If you can start in safe mode, and then do a system restore to restore the computer to an earlier point in time.
Change the recovery settings to disable automatic reboot, if you are able to boot up to the desktop computer:
1.
Right-click my computerand then click Properties.
2.
Click the Advanced tab.
3.
Under Startup and recovery, click settings to open the Startup and recovery dialog box.
4.
Clear the automatically restart check box, and then click OK many times necessary.
5.
Restart your computer so that the settings take effect.
Now, when you are going to close and a fatal error occurs, you will see at least and it won't cause an automatic restart.
Please reply back with the error message you get because it helps us to resolve the error.
Kind regards

How to disable the automatic updates of windows and to update on demand
At the same time, I had disabled the automatic updates of windows and updated on demand by opening windows update. Where is the place to activate and deactivate the automatic updates of windows.
It worked. Thank you!
I wasn't able to get automatic updates to download a microsoft windows update. The fix for microsoft in default mode indicated that he needed to be repaired and that fixed it. When windows update was used again the update has failed once again. The fix even that it was then run in aggressive mode and with a recheck has failed to correct the problem. At each restart, automatic updates took the time to start producing a yellow shield and then pop-up reminders. So thank you to help us with these questions to disable the automatic updates of windows.
Thanks for posting the results of your efforts, I don't know they will be read and appreciated.

Last night, my system was still using Firefox 3.5.8. I played Farmville on Facebook and everything worked well. This morning, I connect to my computer and find that I upgraded to Firefox 3.6. I tried to play Farmville all morning and Adobe Flash Player continues to break. I tried to update Flash Player. I tried to restart the computer. Nothing works.
URL of affected sites
Another potential cause of this problem is that the lock timeout is set too low:
- Select the address bar of Firefox (click or press CTRL + L)
- Type of topic: config and press enter
- Click on I'll be careful, I promise!
- in the filter box, type dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs
- Double-click the setting and change the number.
The default number is 10, for a default timeout of 10 seconds. Some games Flash can be slow and requires a higher setting. I would recommend to change that to 20 if you have problems with this.
In addition, it would really help if people who encounter this problem let us know what games Flash is slow - and as soon as they are slow. Thank you!

Better Privacy does interfere with Crash Recovery somehow? My computer is automatically installed a Windows Update at 03:00 and switch off. When I started out, I had to restart Firefox. Firefox came without any of the tabs that were open when the PC went to bed the previous night. I spent an hour looking for what happened to my tabs, without success.
This has happened
Just once or twice
== Automatic update of Windows shut down my computer in the middle of the night.
Hello.
It is possible that it was by force the windows closed so your firefox which makes you forget... Have you tried to crash your Firefox to see if the session is not restored?
To plant your Firefox, simply there open, press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC and then, on the process tab in the window that appears, complete the process firefox.exe. That will force Firefox to close at this moment. Do start again. If it works, ok, so it may have been a case isolate. My recommendation is to configure your windows does not install updates without your intervention. Choose something like 'ask me what to do' or something like that.

Automatic update of Windows on the server
Hi guys
My application software installed on the server of Windows running on Windows server 2008 does not work properly due to the automatic update of Windows. My client application times does not and when the server he invites me to reboot by displaying the server because of the recent software update.
I asked my team to set Windows Update to manually plan but they advised me that this is a policy and it should be run as automatic.
After restarting the server, the application works normally.
What should I do to run smoothly even after the Windows update without restarting the server.

The Windows Live Safety Center 'Protection' scan is for Windows XP only.

See if the system can update now. If no joy, run it again with the system connected to the internet, in aggressive mode. Turn it back on.
See if the system can update now.
Cancel the clean boot procedure, and then see if he can search for updates in Windows normal mode.

Update Windows automatically restarts the computer. I would like to disable this feature. I'm running a machine business with complex projects requiring a configuration long and delicate. The details below:
Type of operating system: Windows 7 Ultimate
Problem: Status of the project lost after auto restart during the night
Require: A method of disabling automatic restart after an automatic update is happening.
Tried: I already tried looking in the registry for an appropriate key change, but no have been found appropriate.Aelryn,
You can configure Windows update to meet your needs, for example, download the update and then let me choose when to install the same. This way you always get the automatic updates but you chose when and where and how to install updates at a time that is convenient. Then I suggest to change the Automatic Updates settings to meet the needs of PAHO.
Choice, you can turn off to THE (not recommended), you can adjust to download updates only and allow you to install them at a convenient time, you can adjust information only, or you can leave to do what he likes.
If you update, you must restart sometime in the case otherwise you are not protected and you might as well do not update at all. Everything is a matter of choice. One size does not fit all, so a choice can be made. I have updates informed me only, then I decide what, when and how to do to install the updates. It's my choice.
FYI -.

- What should I do to fix this?
- And what does this update actually?
Thanks for any help provided.
scrubie,
If you go to programs and features, and then on the left side you should see a link for "Daily display installed." Which would then show the list of updates with the State which will show you if it failed or not.Hope that helps. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers
