Set to automatic update taking too long
I just bought a new gateway computer that has Microsoft 7 Home Premium yesterday. Last night, he had 12 automatic updates which was fine. Today, he says have 26 and was killed on 15 for 9 hours. It seems that there is a problem, but I'm not sure what to do as he says don't not to turn it off. What is going on? I've never had this problem with any of my other computers I've had.
When you do the initial update of a new facility, it often takes more than a tour through windows update to get all the fixes.
Of course, it's stuck on one.
- Out of the update, worst case, simply turn off the unit.
- Restart,
- go to Windows Update,
- find the update history.
- Find the last update failed.
- Double-click it to see the details. Bad to shoot the problem, there are often links to possible solutions
- repetition of windows update scan. This limits the number of updates that you apply. Start with just one failed,
- Once you have passed a casusing worth, take a small subset of those available to the general public
- Let repeateing until you can do a couple of update scans and finds nothing
- After getting updates all enforce a copy backup of the complete picture of your computer so that you have a known good point to restore that would not force all these fixes again.

Windows Update or automatic updates no longer work after installing SP3?
Recently I photographed two XP machines. A a Latitude D600 and also an Optiplex 745 with Windows XP SP2. I can deploy SP3 in our process of the image. First run I did. Once installed SP3 updates no longer work. I found this article KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144 and tried the suggestions here and FixIt MS, no luck. Then I thought why not try again maybe all the trial and error messed up something. I reimage but this time choose to do not to install SP3 immediately. Once done I run Windows Update and it works, until it installs SP3 then is no longer functions. I tried the above steps once again, no luck. I then leave the PC for 48 hours to see if the automatic updates the shot but they do not have. By other suggestions online I wrote a small batch file that updates several components of Windows Update (dll) which made no difference, and yes I'm in the last WindowsUpdateAgent. Please any help on this would be welcome. We move away XP but we have still a few dozen or more systems deployment running XP and this question slows down my work courses as I spend time troubleshooting instead of being able to finish and move along.

Launch of Windows updates is no longer automatically search updates
Original title: Windows 7 updates
About 5 months ago, updates of Windows 7 has worked like a charm. I could reboot a computer, install SP1 from the cd and when I launched Windows updates he would find them and there we went. But for the lst 4-5 months it was harder to get updates and for several weeks, it is almost impossible. When I run the application updated Windows he's looking for is no longer automatically updates, I have to say it looks like. Then, the computer can settle there as long as two days before finding the updates. I have two computers with own loads on my bench right now doing so. Once has been looking for updates since Monday afternoon. The others finally fond some yeaterday late but now still looking for more. I tried the tool of Microsoft 'fixit' without change. What happened to windows update to windows 7? My only guess is that Microsoft has run on a machine Win 98 486 trying to force everyone to go to 10 Windows. It is a totally unacceptable process that needs to be repaired.
It is expected by M$, now we have to go through hoops

I went to close my PC (Vista SP2). Ago automatically updates waiting for loading. Off, the PC shows that there are 24 updates to download and do NOT close or disconnect my PC. After six hours, he is still blocked in 13 of the 24 updates of loading. It seems stuck. I'm afraid that I may damage if I unplug and make a hard stop. Why is it so much to take?

What Windows settings or services likely to affect Firefox automatic update?
Automatic update works do not is a common problem but in my case, the culprit is probably not on the side of Firefox Firefox. I suspect this due to the fact that I can't upgrade almost any of my programs installed if they were launched during a session before the session is disconnected.
The thing is I disabled a number of Windows services and I see this behavior for probably as long as I use this configuration optimized. Here is a list of my services system as well as their boot options and the State.

Windows automatic updates to doubt?
In windows 7, in windows updates, when we select "install updates automatically (recommended)" and then set the time when to install updates, to just install the updates then (downloads at any time seized in accordance with his will) or download them first at that time and then to install it?
As my use of the internet is free from 02:00 to 08:00 and I want that windows should download the updates and install them automatically at 03:00 (it would cost my internet charges). If I put out there like "every day at 03:00" time, it will download at that time (which I want it to be), or simply install at the time (I don't want to use my day consumption for the updates of windows... I want to use the free part!).p.s. it restarts the computer automatically after installing updates (I don't want) or to delay the recovery until I wake up in the morning and do it myself (I want it)?
If it does it automatically, is it possible to stop him?
From: Understanding Windows automatic updating
When the updates are downloaded?
Updates are downloaded behind the scenes when you are online. They do not interfere with other downloads. If you disconnect from the Internet before an update is fully downloaded, the download process will continue the next time you're online.
When the updates are installed?
It depends on the automatic update option you choose. If you choose the recommended option, updates are installed at 3:00 or on a schedule you choose. If you turn off your computer before the scheduled time, you can install updates before shutting down. If your computer is in a State of economy of energy (sleep or Hibernate) during a scheduled update, and if your computer is connected to a power source, Windows will wake your computer long enough to install new updates. If your computer is running on battery, however, Windows will not install updates. Windows will try to install them instead at the next scheduled installation.
Through the above information, it seems that Windows Update is download the updates when the system is online and install them during the scheduled installation.
Updates need to reboot the system to replace files in use will be to reboot the system without any user interaction. As far as I know, when WU is set to automatic, there is no way to restrict the time when the system will download the updates.
If the edition of Windows 7 is the ultimate edition, professional or business, one can configure the options of restart and guests reboots via Group Policy. In additionPowerShell cmdlets in Windows 7 introduces a set of 25 new cmdlets, which allow administrators to manage and automate Windows PowerShell through Group Policy. With these cmdlets, a COMPUTER administrator can backup, restore, report on and configure (through registry settings) Group Policy objects. This feature is added during the installation of the GPMC.
PowerShell cmdlets also applies to editions listed above of Windows 7.

How to turn on automatic updates in Windows XP
Original title: my computer will not allow the update to service pack 3 windows xp, how to fix this?
How can I activate the automatic updates?
Windows Update no longer works unless you have at least XP Service Pack 3.
Right-click on 'My Computer' and then select 'Properties' to determine your level of service current pack. If you are in SP1A or SP2, you can go directly to SP3. If you do not have the service pack or have SP1, then you must install SP2 and SP3. You can download a stand-alone Setup for SP2 and SP3 on the following links. Or you can try this:
If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
