  • Updated Windows rebooted my computer and installed the updates last night and now my login password is different and I can not connect. Help?

I put my computer to sleep last night and when I woke up this morning it has restarted and was sitting on the login screen.  This occurs when windows update itself - and I absolutely hate it by the way.

When I entered my password, it says that it was incorrect.  I had the same password for a long time, so the only thing I can think is that the update of windows somehow changed my password.  I have Vista Ultimate 64 b.

I did not create a password recovery disk - how can I get my account to change my password?

    Hello

It is available on you microsoft information help on problems with passwords

If you are unable to connect to Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use the Windows Vista System Restore feature, or the Windows 7 system restore feature.

You may be unable to connect to Windows Vista or Windows 7 in the following scenarios:

    • Scenario 1: You recently set a new password for the protected administrator account. However, you don't remember the password.
    • Scenario 2: You type the correct password. However, Windows Vista or Windows 7 does not accept the password because the system is damaged.
    • Scenario 3: You delete a protected administrator account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.
    • Scenario 4: You change an administrator account protected with a standard user account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.

  • Updated FireFox, restarted and now it will not open the browser, even if the icon does not appear in my taskbar. Was fine until the update last night. Win8.1 running

When I move the mouse over the icon in the taskbar that appears after that I have I dbl-clicked on the icon on the desktop, you can see a miniature version of the browser open as usual, unfortunately, the browser will not open upward on the desktop. I've deleted and reinstalled several times. It has worked very well until I did the update last night.

    16 GB of RAM
    3 video concerts
    Processor AMD FX-6200 6 3.80 Ghz

Sometimes, a window is "off the screen" somehow. Often, you can force it to appear on the screen by right clicking on the thumbnail image just above the taskbar and choose expand. Does it work?

A possible cause for this is that the file that stores the positions and sizes of window is corrupt.

#1 method: If you can get a zoomed window:

Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button. This should launch a new window that lists the various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

Leave this window open, switch back to Firefox and output, either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • (menu bar) File > Exit

Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup, then rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old.

Launch Firefox back up again. Windows normally appear again?

#2 method: If you can not get a Firefox window for all:

Close Firefox by right clicking the icon in the taskbar > close all windows.

Using the Run dialog box (windows key + R) or the search for the start bar menu (or perhaps 8.x for Windows search of charms bar bar?) type or paste the following and press ENTER to drill down to the profiles folder:

    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Here you can see a folder - in this case, double-click that - or more than one case - in this case, double-click on in what looks like the most recently updated.

Scroll down and rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old.

Launch Firefox back up again. Windows normally appear again?

It's my generic how updates of appropriate driver: (update video drivers.)

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

    Hi Dan MJ.

Yes, you can go ahead and try the steps in my previous post and check if this solves the problem.

If these steps is not enough you can follow these methods and check if it works:

Method 1: I you recommend to turn off the computer, unplug the power, restart the computer and reconnect the USB device. See if the device is detected.

Method 2: You can run the hardware and devices Troubleshooter and see if this fits the Bill.

Open the hardware and devices Troubleshooter

You can also see the following article for more information about the error Code 43:

  • Vista update last night, now I can not even do Windows or restore from safe mode.

    I have a Vista 64 bit machine.

Last night my computer needed to install updates before shutting down, so I left it (as usual). This morning, when I turn my computer on it is stuck in a cycle of perpetual start-up. It restarts, concludes windows, gets a blue screen of death, reboots, etc etc. I disabled automatic reboot, so I could find the error message. It is a stop error message: 0x0000007E. I tried the analysis, through the prompt, the EFA one. It found errors but it unable to fix/replace.
I can run my machine in safe mode. But I am unable to run a system restore. Using the option on the start menu, it gives an error message. If I use the suggested path since I was able to get the system restore to start via the command prompt. I tried several dates for a restoration of the system (the only thing that has happened to my machine in weeks is the installation of the update of mystery last night and windows update). The system restore is unable to complete. It comes up with the following error message: 0 x 80070057.
I ran AVG and Malwarebytes. According to the two, which are updated, I do not suffer from any virus, spyware or anything. Now the only option that works in safe mode. Everything that involves repairs or last config of success (from the option menu F8 when reboot) just does enter the loop.
Whenever I do windows an option, ask questions about the parameters name, workgroup and starting up my computer. I don't know if this affects what it is.
Thanks to all those who might have a tip or two to throw my way. I'm about to pull out my hair.

    Hello

If you have connected an external equipment to the computer, and then try to disconnect all external devices and then tries to start and check if it helps.

    It will be useful.

  • Since the update last night (05/02/2013) we are unable to access the internet.

My son says that there is an update last night when he was on the computer and the browser only, that we can use to access the internet now is Windows Internet Explorer. I tried all of the recommended patches and it still does not work.

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox and all the leftover program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps one by one:

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click Exit in the file menu or Firefox) and confirm all future messages.
    3. Now, uninstall Firefox by following the steps mentioned in the article to Uninstall Firefox .

IMPORTANT: Under Windows, the uninstall program has the option to remove your personal data and settings. Make sure that you have not check this option. If not all of your bookmarks, passwords, extensions, customizations and other Firefox data user profile will be removed from your computer.

After uninstalling Firefox on Windows, delete the folder of the program "Mozilla Firefox", located by default in one of the following locations:

    • (Windows 32-bit) C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    • (On 64-bit Windows) C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
    1. Go to the Windows Start menu and click on 'computer '.
    2. In the Explorer window that opens, double-click on disk Local (c) to open the C:\ drive.
    3. Find the folder "Program Files (x 86)" or "Program Files".
      • On 32-bit Windows, double-click the Program Files folder to open it.
      • On 64-bit Windows, you'll see a folder "Program Files (x 86)" AND a "Program Files" folder. Open the Program Files (x 86) folder.
    4. You are looking for a folder of Mozilla Firefox . If you find one, right click and select delete and confirm that you want to move the folder to the trash.

Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:

    1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

Please report back to see if this helped you!

I come to me on my computer and everything was gone. All my files, shortcuts and backround have simply disappeared. It's like I've never been on my computer before. I have nothing! How to get everything back?

You have been discharged into a temporary user account. It may be a glitch, or your user account may be damaged. First try a system restore when things worked. If it suits it, fine. If it is not then your account is damaged and the best thing to do is to create a new user account and copy your data from the old to the new. I would also like to do a Chkdsk and then some hardware diagnostics on the hard drive and RAM to make sure that the material is solid.

CHKDSK - click here to open the computer. Right click on the hard drive you want to check, and then click Properties. Click on the Tools tab and then, under error-checking, click check now. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

To automatically repair problems with files and folders that the scan detects, select automatically fix file system errors. Otherwise, the disk check will simply report a problem, but not to fix them.

To perform a full disk check, select search and attempt to recover bad sectors. This scan is trying to find and repair physical errors on the hard drive itself, and it may take much longer to complete.

To check for errors file and the physical errors, select both automatically fix errors in file system and search for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

    Click Start.

Depending on the size of your hard disk, this may take several minutes. For best results, do not use your computer for any other tasks while it checks errors.

Note: If you select automatically errors in file system of fix for a disc that is used (for example, the partition that contains Windows), you will be prompted, see the disk check for the next time you restart your computer.

Corrupt user account - if your single administrative user account is damaged (and therefore have what one user account is A Bad Thing), you must log on to the built-in Administrator (disabled by default in Vista) account. From there, you can create a new user account for yourself. In these cases, I prefer not to copy the whole profile to a new way to do not copy the bits corrupt. I prefer a new user account to copy the data (documents, photos, emails, etc.). Here are the instructions to do this. I assumed that you had only an administrative account, then you might want to take a look at the "general recommendations for setting Up user accounts in Vista" at the end of this post.

All this requires a certain level of computer skills. You know better and that take the machine to a competent local computer tech (not a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad place) is the best solution for you.

    Activation of the built-in administrator.

Method 1. If you have an installation of Vista DVD (not a recovery DVDs), you can start the system with it. Select the default language, then select "repair your computer". Then select "Command Prompt". At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes [Enter]

If you do not have a Vista installation DVD, you can either make a bootable DVD of Vista repair in the file at this link:

    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

Note: All the Neosmart recovery disk downloads are torrent files. There is a good explanation of the torrent on the site Web of Neosmart files. You will need a torrent as muTorrent client to get the files. Torrent client will download the .iso file with which to create the bootable DVD.

After net user, remove the bootable CD and restart the computer. You will now see an icon for administrator on the Welcome screen. Connect to this account.

Method 2. Or you can use NTpassword to enable the built-in administrator. In both methods, you need third-party burning software such as Nero, Roxio or the free ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com ) to burn the .iso image image file, not in the form of data.

    http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/

    B. create a new user account for yourself and by copying data from your damaged to her user account

    1. you are now connected to the built-in Administrator account. Go to control panel > user accounts and create a new Standard user for your daily work. Let's call it "Sheldon" for this example. Also create an administrator user, called 'CompAdmin' (or 'Tech' or similar).

4 Ouvrezunesession 'Sheldon' once for profile files are created. Now log off 'Sheldon' and 'CompAdmin '. In "CompAdmin", disable the built-in security administrator. Do this from a command prompt:

Start > Search > type: cmd
When cmd appears in the above results, right-click and choose "Run as Administrator". Provide the password/OK to the UAC prompt. Now, you will get the command prompt. Type:

NET user administrator / active: No. [Enter] and exit the command prompt.

    5. always in 'CompAdmin', you want to open two windows explore side by side. Open computer and navigate to C:\Users\old-corrupted-account. Now, do that again, but navigate to C:\Users\Sheldon. Copy the data from 'old-corrupted-account' on records in 'Sheldon '. Remember your Favorites, bookmarks (if you use Firefox) and by e-mail if you use an email like Windows Mail client.

    6. When you are finished, log in to "Sheldon. All your stuff should be there. When you are sure to have what you need, you can remove the old man-corrupted-account control panel > user accounts.

General C. recommendations for creating users in Vista:

You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista is an OS multi-user with system built-in accounts such as administrator, by default, all users and guest. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want one account user with administrative privileges on Vista because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult. It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but it will take third-party tools and work outside the operating system.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null). MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • I changed my admin.password last night and the earlier my husband did a system restore on it. now it tells me wrong password

    original title: help please!

I have windows vista on my acer aspire 5517 I changed my admin.password last night and the earlier my husband did a system restore on it. now it tells me wrong password... I don't have a dics in it plese... I need help ASAP

Next time please post in a forum of Vista. This one is for Windows 7. But since you're here:

You can change your password to something that you remember another administrative user account. If you had only an administrative user account and you have forgotten the password, all is not lost. You can then follow the general recommendations for implementing user accounts in Vista that I will give you at the end of this post.

All this requires a certain level of computer skills. You know better and that take the machine to a competent local computer tech (not a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad place) is the best solution for you.

If you have an installation of Vista DVD (not a recovery DVDs), you can start the system with it. Select the default language, then select "repair your computer". Then select "Command Prompt". At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes [press Enter]
NET user [insert here the name of your user account] [insert the new password of user as 1234 here] [press Enter]

[Note: do not enter the brackets!]

Remove the installation DVD and restart the computer. Now, you will be able to connect to your user account by using the password that you set; for example, 1234.

If you do not have a Vista installation DVD (only have a recovery disk), the computer mftr. may have given you the option to repair Vista (not a system recovery!) system in the diagnostic menu. This menu of diagnosis is the same one where you can choose Safe Mode. Get to this menu by repeatedly pressing the F8 key as the computer starts. If you do not have this option, you can make a bootable Vista file repair DVD in this link:

    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

Note: All the Neosmart recovery disk downloads are torrent files. There is a good explanation of the torrent on the site Web of Neosmart files. You will need a torrent asmuTorrent client to get the files. Torrent client will download the .iso file with which to create the bootable DVD. You will need to use third-party burning software such as Nero, Roxio or the free ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com ) to burn the image .iso image file, not in the form of data.

Once you have fixed things, log on to the additional administrative account you will be made by the suggestions below and disable the administrator account integrated yet for security reasons:

Start Orb > Search box > type: cmd
When cmd appears in the above results, right-click and choose "Run as Administrator" [OK]. Now, you will get the command prompt. At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / active: No. [Enter]

    Exit the command prompt.

General recommendations for creating users in Vista:

You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista is a multi-user system with integrated system of accounts as default Administrator and comments.

It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but there may be more that you want to do. Better not to put you in a bad situation at first.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. As a user Standard is recommended for security reasons and will help protect your computer against infections.
