Awesome bar does not.

Most of the time, the Awesome flat Bar does not work. While I can type in a speech inside, pressing enter or the button OK in the bar do not work. I tried to restart my computer, clear cache, start Safe Mode and it still does not. It is only a minor issue because it does not affect my browsing too, but I was wondering if it could be fixed.

(This could be a problem with every night, but if it is just an issue I'm having, so I was wondering if there is a fix)

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

  • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode without failure.

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile in the new profile, but be careful not to copy files corrupted to avoid transporting on the problem.

  • The 'Awesome Bar' does not work. He does not remember anything of the bookmarks

Just updated again Firefox. In the past, when I'd start typing a site in the firefox address bar it would complete as it was already in my favorites. But now it does nothing. It just sits there waiting for me the full address. I could start typing Netf and it automatically end Netflix.com

Why is happening. Also, for the first days of the new version I had to go back in the tools, Options and reset things at least 3 or 4 times before they finally remained as I wanted.

I would say he never remember history and after while I would look and he said, do not forget history. I wanted a blank start page, and not to change it. It's normal now but the Awesome Bar does not at all.

Your bookmarks are displayed in the drop-down list auto suggestion?

Otherwise: Under Options > confidentiality, in the lower part, does always show that Firefox should suggest bookmarks in the location bar?

If auto-suggest works but the AutoFill does, you may check that it has not been disabled here:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste autofs and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) If browser.urlbar.autoFill preference is "BOLD" and "user" false, double-click it to change its value to the default value true. It should work in new tabs.

It already is the value true, hmm, I wonder if there is a problem of private browsing? (I didn't test with automatic private browsing).

  • The awesome bar does not work as it should?

When I typed in a Word, for ex, 'space', initially FF would take me to 'google search' with all the options for 'space' in this research.
Suddenly, 'parola' butted and my searches are redirected to this place.
I scoured the forums etc. They suggested "Subject: config","keyword.url". "" Then right click and the setting on 'reset'.
Well, when I do this, my "reset" function is not available. It is faded. Then I did a right click on 'modify' and type in the option only available in the forums etc to google search:

    "http://www.google.com/ig?ie=UTF-8 & oe = UTF-8 & hl = in & aig = 0 & reason = 1.

From there, when I go to the awesome bar and enter ' thespace', it does me not this 'google search' page, but need me either on my own "igoogle" page, or if I register on igoogle, it takes me to a regular google home page.

Then, I want what I searched in the search box of the google and igoogle with all available 'google' search results. "',But the search box is empty.

    What to do now?

I hope I'm clear on the issue. That I couldn't find in the forums/help pages.

    Thank you for your help.

The version of FF 50.0 Win10 build 1607 (latest updates)

The Awesome Bar has stopped working (aka the search bar, the URL bar).

If I start typing in there, the drop-down list box appears, I select an element, but FF does nothing. If I hit , nothing happens.

It's the same if I 'type of hand' in the URL, or paste a URL in the impressive bar.

There is no question by navigating from the Favorites, bookmarks, or by clicking on the URL in a web page, it is only the awesome bar that is not working.

    How can I fix it?

After the upgrade to version 4, the awesome FF / address bar does not display/AutoComplete history, bookmark, etc. Of course, I check the settings and they are OK (when you use the address bar, suggest the history and bookmarks). It's always a problem with Firefox 8.0.1 on all versions of Mac OS x 10.5, 10.6 and 10.7 when using NFSv3, NFSv4 and AFP home directories. This has been a problem for all versions of Firefox > = 4. For some reason, the Awesome bar works in the latest versions of the Firefox 3 series. We do not want to rely on that because we do not know when you will stop updating.

    Hi kbuckler,
Sorry, you have problems with Firefox.

It is certainly what is now a known issue (Bug 1180419) affecting users with a corrupted database history and bookmarks.

There is a difficulty of finding the Firefox profile, while Firefox is open. Closing Firefox. Rename the file places.sqlite (say places.sqlite.broke1).

Firefox should then work on reboot. Unfortunately, you lose the history. Loss of history apart from his obvious loss also affects the use of the autocompletion of the location bar (aka awesomebar) and your newtab tiles.

    See for this

but I'll put the instructions below. (Based on windows see the articles if needed similar information, Mac or Linux)

    Find the profile

Click on the menu {(trois bar icône) button click help {(?)) and select troubleshooting information.}} The troubleshooting information tab will open.
In the section the Application databases, click [Open Directory]. It will open a window with your profile files.

    Closing of Firefox
Find the file called places.sqlite in the profile folder, you have opened.
Rename this file. I suggest you call it places.sqlite.broke1
    Restart Firefox.
Firefox will re-create the database, using the latest automated backup, there when it is restarted.

Change of name, rather than deleting.
If history or specifications according to it are very important there are advanced methods that can sometimes work in the database file broken attachment. The file has been renamed to - broke1 will serve a copy that you might consider to try to fix.
The renamed file also leaves open the door to research methods of bookmarks lost if for example some very recent bookmarks were important and lost.

    minor typo;

I've recently updated Firefox to 36 because of an error running on an earlier version. I am running Win XP with SP3 and also using Norton 360. After the update the address bar does not work, either by using the Enter key, or menu drop down recent sites and selecting a.

I tried to use the method of Mozilla Firefox 'safe start' with no difference. I also upgraded my Norton 360 with the latest changes and it is to this day. I have "authorized" Mozilla Firefox to the Norton firewall configuration, but none of these things have had an impact on the problem.

Make sure that you are not Firefox running in compatibility mode.

Make sure that all items are disabled in the tab "Compatibility" in the Properties window.

  • Firefox address bar does not work

I recently updated my software Kaspersky of Kaspersky Internet Security Kaspersky Total security, 2015 at around the time that Firefox automatically updated from version 35 to 36. I don't know if the update of Kaspersky has nothing to do with the problem, but now the Firefox address bar does not work. I've 'come down' Firefox to version 35, but it still does not work.

You can add a URL in a window of the Firefox window (Firefox or Google) search engine, and that works, like clicking on the hyperlinks that appear. But the address bar is totally dead! The address in my browser Google toolbar also works OK

I hope that someone familiar with the operation of Firefox knows how to solve this frustrating problem as I prefer Firefox Google.

    Thanks for the help.

  • Search bar does not work.

I am running FF25.0.1 on Windows 7, but I had this problem for several versions, do not remember when he started. The search bar does not work with any engine, I can type and the cursor flashes but it does not research when I hit enter or use the search button.

    I tried:
    -clean the uninstall/reinstall firefox
    -create a profile
-in the course of running as an administrator
    -test in safe mode
-suppression of research and searchmetadata.json, formhistory.sqlite, etc..
-removal of the plugins to search then by reinstalling ff to generate news
    -use the searchreset addon

After some of them, the search bar will work only once to help enter or the button before returning to the uselessness.

I'm more or less certain that I don't have a malicious software. I do not use the address bar to search because it is a little more complicated to use terms, including the slashes or openings of the diaphragm, and put except that I do not have the functions which do not hang out.

Start the computer in Mode safe mode with network support Windows (on the startup screen, press F8) as a test to see if that helps.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the program folder before Firefox to (re) install a new copy of the current version of Firefox.

Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current version of Firefox, if possible, the settings in the software security and cleaning of the Windows registry.

    • Do NOT remove the data personal when you uninstall your current version of Firefox, because all profile files will be deleted and you lose personal data such as bookmarks and passwords from other versions of Firefox profiles.

Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

    • (Windows 64 bit) "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a uninstall and (re) install, but make sure that 'delete personal data' is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
