  Thank you for your help. I tried the maintenance of places without success. I have disabled xMarks, but it made no difference, I couldn't save all new bookmarks. I went on the site help above and deleted the "places.sqlite" file and recreates a new file, but it didn't work. I uninstalled Firefox full using IOBit Uninstaller and reinstalled, but I found this program does not delete the profile folder (used to have a checked during uninstall of Firefox, but it seems to have disappeared in the latest versions). The problem persisted.

  I reinstalled Firefox, reinstalled xMarks and connected and transferred all my favorites, I reinstalled all my previous addons and ALTO - it now everything works perfectly!

  When you say keyword, are you referring to them, the keywords associated with a search engine? Research Management > double click on the key word column

  You may also delete the history entries if you put history to remember everything. However, in the location in the Options toolbar settings > privacy > you can change what is research: 'Nothing' or the history and bookmarks.

I contacted Microsoft and back an email that I had to PAY for technical support to resolve this issue. Which seems hardly fair since there was an update on their part that messed up my laptop. I have a Gateway MX8738 with Vista Home Premium. I have not seen the error messages it just that there is no CD/DVD drive installed and when I check in my computer the only things that are displayed are the drives C and D.

  using firefox 40.0, as stated above, I start to type in a bookmark and don't get any down of suggestions or AutoComplete options. Interesting things I've done, 1: restart the browser w / disabled all the plugins. then on their return. Also noticed that I seem to have an amendment to the new interface of preferences clicky gooey, to make a change between browser sessions. & above all the parrots values by default, Yes, I'm went to preferences and said I want to use bookmarks (privacy preferences ala, when using suggest bar location). I have same Christmas treed / applied a binary solution options, use bookmarks, use the bookmarks & history, use boookmarks and open tabs, etc etc, even up to and including use nothing). The only other caution is that I imported old favorites, I can not type old bookmarks or new, with the exception of strange to him now tap on google.com! wtaf btw google.com isn't a bookmark? I'm really curious where this rabbit hole goes too.
