I was visiting my friend in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, it has a Toshiba Satellite U500 - 1F4 Laptop, the subtemplate is PSU9ME-OOCOOXARShe bought while working in Dubai, Saudi
She spilled coffee on the keyboard, and of course, it now does not work correctly.
I thought that it would be possible to remove and just wash it in hot water, perhaps to dissolve the coffee, but it does not work. There are six or seven key doesn't work is not on the keyboard.
The rest of the laptop is great, no problem.I am now back in the United Kingdom, and I will try to find a keyboard for it. There is a lot on eBay and other places, but whenever I do a search for its model I get nothing.
The numbers on the back of the keyboard are:-
MP - 08H56A06528

OKNO - VGIAR0209493000523
I found various models U500 and U505 keyboards, so one of them would be?

GeoffOn eBay you can find so many keyboards. Just find one for U500 and it will fit for sure.

Is satellite U500 - available with backlit keyboard?
Hello
I tried to call someone from Toshiba in Poland, but no one here at TCC...
Maybe someone here will know when U500 with backlit keyboard will be available. on the Polish market?
Thanks in advance...
It is not easy to get the info. You know it's marketing decision which models will be available in some markets.
What you can do is to check official page Toshiba Poland and check which models will be available in your country. I believe in the future Toshiba will offer models more and more and I can't imagine that u500 with backlit keyboard will be available in the future.Try to contact a Toshiba service person in your country. If anyone has any info on this subject, it must be the right address.

Backlit keyboard Satellite A660-12th
Hello
I have a Toshiba Satellite A660 - 12th Debian Squeeze rocking in dual boot with Windows 7, and I recently acquired a backlit keyboard.
The problem is that the keyboard does not, either in Windows or Linux. Now, I know it works, because I tested it with a battery. So I think that the problem is in the BIOS, and probably, he is not recognized. (I have all the options related to the keyboard in my bios (BIOS 2.30 running))
I appreciate your help and waiting for you! Thank you!
Linux is not supported and there is no solution for m but I was wondering why you can't use it with Windows.
Are you using the original Win7 version you got with your laptop or your own installation of the OS? -

Hello
I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A500 with the following numbers, I can find: P7350 part number PSAM3A-04200E serial number - 79365650K.
I would like to install a backlit keyboard on this one,
Is this model compatible? »Hello
Satellite A500 PSAM3A - 04200E seems to belong to the Australian series for Toshiba laptop.
To use a backlit keyboard, the motherboard must provide a special port/connector for keyboard light cable. You might get some details of a Toshiba ASP in Australia
www.MyToshiba.com.auBut I found a parts retailer, and many of them provides keyboards without BACKLIGHT

Satellite U500-1FN: would like to have a keyboard backlight
Hello
I have this model u500-1fn without keyboard backlight...
If I buy a keyboard backlight for u500 will work?Hmm, the laptop must support the backlight for the keyboard if you want to use this keyboard.
Under the keyboard there should be a slot in order to attach the cable from the keyboard backlight.
If it is available then you should be able to use this theoryBut I read also some threads here in the forum and in many cases this didn t work even as the keyboard backlight backlight was used

Re: Satellite A500/02J-backlit keyboard upgrade
Hi all
I just bought an A500/02J but I would replace the keyboard with a backlit keyboard. I found a backlit keyboard compatible to A500 on ebay, but I wonder if the motherboard on the 02J will allow replacement.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
Kind regards
I can't say with any certainty whether these updates is possible but I n t think so. I mean why Toshiba should offer this motherboard with keyboard without backlight.
Best thing you can do is to call the Toshiba service in your country and ask for help. They have experience with such things, and I think you will get the answer service guys prober.
If you discover that the upgrade is possible please let us know. This info can be useful for other owners of A5oo.

Recommend that you check this thread:
http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=58628Usually the upgrade of a keyboard normal backlit keyboard doesn't have to be a big problem if there is an extra connector on the motherboard for a backlit keyboard.
If this extra connector is not available, then you will NOT be able to use the keyboard backlight. -

Need new keyboard for Satellite A660
Hello
I need to get a new keyboard to replace the one in my laptop Toshiba Satellite because some keys stopped working.
My computer is a Toshiba Satellite A660-PSAW3A-07P00R.
I have been looking online at different and a single list as "fitting Toshiha Satellite A660 laptop computers".
Does anyone know if different laptops of the A660 other shape series computers laptops, or I need to find the specific part that is compatible with the number of my computer?
In addition, the keyboard of my laptop doesn't have the function of backlit, but in some lists I could find that didn't function backlit.
Anyone know if the backlit keyboard is a size different from that which is not backlit and therefore it does not my laptop?
I would be very grateful of any help.
Thank you.
When the keyboard is removed on the back side is a sticker with part number that you can use to search for and order new keyboard. In my opinion this is the best and easiest way to find a good keyboard.
Keyboard with backlight has additional cable for power and you cannot use it with our machine, so, in my opinion, there is no sense to buy it. Remove the keyboard and we part of the keypad number.
I don't know if you have experience with disassembly, but be careful if you want to do it yourself. Small mistake and something may be broken. If all this is too risky for you I recommend you to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They can order the original keyboard and switch to... I think only 20 minutes.
