Backup before installing ElCapitan iMac!

I finally updated to Maverics at ElCapitan. I'm worried after reading all the problems that have occurred, but eventually realize that I have to! my iMac is 2014 so I hope that everything will be fine!

I am a total novice and more old but have fixed several hiccups with the help of the community, so I hope that you all will be there for me! I have

I will save on my external hard drive using time machine. I understand that it is the hard drive that I'm backup only. My data but is that includes my apps and programs that I have pages, I have books etc.? Mail etc?

RAM is the temporary memory used to run programs that are running on my iMac in the background and those that I opened. Example: programs to display in the window Task Manager, is that correct?

I have a 5 GB external hard drive, I went to on the Mac, the report on the system and storage under: 578.67 and capacity.999.35 so I should have enough available space

By doing this upward, in theory if there is no "of the problems' or 'problems' with mail etc so I can restore the previous version and everything will be fine, is this correct?

When this is done I will be then follow the prompts of the instalation of El Capitan app store.

Practical advice?

Thanks to you all.

There is no need to take a backup before installing any ON boxes of UCCE. If anything is required to do before applying the ES, the same would be mentioned in the release notes ARE himself. You can follow the above-mentioned procedure that otherwise needs.

On another PC I want to save my favorites, but my browser Firefox does not work how can I make the backup, before I reinstall Firefox.
Firefox cannot renew its tabs and now won't run and let me do a backup

This may be considered to be solve my problem.
I decided to uninstall the rogue program Firefox download and reinstall the same version (No. 8). I used Windows XP Add Remove programs who asked if I wanted to save the settings of Firefox until I uninstalled Firefox. I said yes and operated with the uninstall. I couldn't find a Firefox 8 so I went for the 12 version and installed on the laptop. This version 12 now works with all the passwords one favorite of the uninstalled 8.

  • Backup Windows install acer aspire 4330

HI, team of Acer, I use Linux (dual-boot) with windows. I would like to remove windows, how do I backup windows install so if something goes wrong, I can just pop in a disc and reinstall windows? If any other information is needed I can provide.

Well, while being in disagreement with your decision, I have found this procedure to create a recovery disc for an Acer laptop. Please keep in mind that the process may vary slightly with different patterns:

To create your recovery backup disks, follow these steps:

    1. Click on the Start menu, and then click all programs.
    2. In the list of programs, click the Acer file, and then click the Acer eRecovery Management .
    3. User account control Windows may request your permission to run this program, click Yes.
    4. In the Acer eRecovery Management window left click backup, and then click create a default disk factory.
Note: If you use a laptop or netbook, you will be asked to connect your power adapter, make sure that the power adapter is plugged in before continuing, and then click OK.
    5. In the page to create a default disc factory select the drive you want to use for burning the recovery media, and then click Start.
    6. The disc is ejected whenever he has completed burning, if several drives are required insert a new disc when you are prompted, and then click OK.

  • Can I clean the hard drive before installing Windows Dell & as I've heard doesent clean properly. And how to clean the drive of DART?

Can I clean hard drive before installing Dell Windows 7 / as I have heard it is not clean everything properly. So how to clean the hard drive?

Or can I restore my office before you install Windows 7 in the first place when it's new?

    Kind regards

    Bert Pooler

Yes, you can restore the State as it was when new...

Your computer is equipped with a recovery instead of disk partition...

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

You may need to try several times to get everything above to work. If after several attempts, you have no chance, or the machine indicates that there is no recovery partition, your only option is to contact the computer manufacturer and ask for the model recovery discs...

After the reset, you should get all the updates from Windows Update EXCEPT for hardware devices. Then, you install a good antivirus. ONLY AFTER you have done this, if you replace the stuff of backups or install anything else.

  • Boot Camp: This disc seems to have been divided by another utility. It must be erased before installing Windows.

I have a SATA Western Digital to 6 TB drive on my Mac Pro 2012.  I thought "what better place to put a bootcamp partition?  But when I went to use the Boot Camp Assistant, I was greeted with this:

Boot Camp: This disc seems to have been divided by another utility. It must be erased before installing Windows.

I thought ' OK - I'll delete data... Use utility disk to erase the disk completely, and then try again.  After a few hours, I used... completely partitioned disk utility disk and tried again.

    Same message.

It seems that for some reason I can erase completely and use the entire disk for Windows (blah) or should I use another drive or not Boot Camp at all.  Is there a problem with the size of the hard drive Boot Camp can support?  Any advice?

    Hello ElPapa,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I understand that you want to put a Boot Camp partition on your Western Digital HD connected to your Mac Pro. What is your boot drive? If this isn't the case, it could be part of your problem. According to the following article on installing Microsoft Windows using Boot Camp, it is said that you need "at least 55 GB of free disk space on your startup disk".

How to install Windows using Boot Camp

If you install it on your boot drive and still get this message, take a look at this article: Boot Camp: alert message Partition when you use Boot Camp Assistant

Where can I find the version number of an ios update before installing?

You can not. I would like to know as well. The current building is displayed in settings > general > all. When the phone offers you an update, it does not display the new version. One could assume that it is the latest available at that time, which at present is 13E237, but to my knowledge does not appear before the update.

  • If I do not support until my MBP before installing a new hard drive...

    Very quick question:

If I don't support my hard drive before installing a new hard drive, SSD, the MBP (early 2011) "know" download all the OS X software appropriate and that sort of thing? I guess my question is: is the part of the hard drive of the same hard drive recovery? Or on a separate physical disk.

I don't have a time machine, and it would probably be easier to start from scratch.

    Thank you!

If your computer comes with 10.6.8 or earlier and did not have its updated firmware updated to use Internet Apple system recovery, it is only on the internal drive. Otherwise, separate recovery methods are in the firmware and the drive internal.
