Backup system request

I recently bought a laptop the 1200tx G6 and burned just recovery disks after that. Then I deleted the partitions of "Recovery" and "HP_TOOLS" and recreated another partition using windows partition tool. Now, I don't want to lose data on the newly created partition. Is it possible to reinstall the OS using those recovery to just my C:\ drive only DVDs? So that my data in the partition else remains intact.

Some versions of Recovery Manager include an option to the single format C: and leave the user created partitions intact. HERE , the page can help you determine. It is usually only on models that have the 3 options listed. So bad, you don't check before deleting the recovery partition. Only now, if you don't remember, is to start from the recovery set and check.

I don't think it's possible. The program you are using is very old, when all THE PCs have the floppy drives.

Instead of using the built-in XP Backup program to perform a full backup of the system, do you a favor and use a better program like Acronis True Image or Paragon Backup System.

  • Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit hangs during antivirus and backup system analysis

I have problems with my PC. Last night, before retiring for the night, I noticed that Microsoft Security Essentials icon is yellow and warning me that my computer was in danger and had not been scanned for viruses for awhile. Normally it is set to run automatically on a schedule, but it does not work if my computer is set to go to sleep after a period of inactivity (which is because I want to save energy). So I have to manually run the virus scan. I have it set to run a FULL scan and then went to bed. In the morning, I noticed that my computer has been completely closed. It would normally be asleep and she simply by moving my mouse wake up. I had to hit the power button on my PC to start upward. The warning message that Windows did not close properly displayed and gave me the boot options. I just booted normally. As the virus scan has been the last thing my computer did the night before, I decided to try to run a FULL scan again. It crashed my PC. I started again and tried a QUICK analysis, which worked well. I searched "Microsoft Security Essentials plant system" and found a recent instance with someone else, and after more detailed diagnosis, they determined that it was probably a failing hard drive or a bad memory. The recommendation was immediately back up their system of hard drive and replace it.

Before you run any Diagnostics to determine my culprit, I decided to start a backup system just to be safe. I ran Windows Backup and choose "Create a system image" and he has done on an external hard drive on a USB3 docking station. He got about 90% through the backup, then my system crashed. No error message, just a full stop.

Unfortunately, a not save the link to the original set of instructions to diagnose why the system crashed during the anti-virus scan.

Now I ask... What can I do to save my system if it crashes my computer?

    Hi Greg,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand that the system hangs when a complete analysis of how MSE or backup system and I'll be happy to answer your query. This could be due to MSE not updated and that's why he showed the yellow icon. We will try the following methods and check.

Method 1: Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) update

For update to MSE, please see: How to manually download the latest Microsoft Security Essentials definition updates

Here are some methods that you can try in order to solve the problem.

Method 1: Perform the clean boot and check.

To help resolve the error message, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Please note: After troubleshooting, be sure to start your computer in normal mode by following step 3.

Method 2: Clean boot material and check.

    a. go to Start and type Device Manager in the start search field.
    b. type Device Managerand select Device Manager from the list programs.
    c. right click on the sound card, video card and NIC, one by one, then click on disable.
    c. restart the computer.

If it solves your problem, allow hardware devices that in time to find the exact device originally this problem. After you find the device that causes the problem you can solve by installing the latest driver or replacement of the device.

Method 3: Do restore the system from the Windows recovery environment and verify.

    What is system restore?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-is-system-restore

Important: System Restore will return all your files non-system as documents, email, music, etc., to a previous state. These files of types are completely affected by the restoration of the system. If it was your intention with this tool to recover a deleted file to non-system, try using a file instead of system restore recovery program.

If the problem persists, or you have questions about Windows, do not hesitate to let us know. It is our pleasure to be of service.

  • I have that one saved backup system, is there a reason to keep additional files prior to the last backup of system? I can remove them systematically?

I run the Windows Image backup to a hard drive external on a weekly schedule. The result shows on the hard drive as "WindowsImageBackup\(User name)-PC\Backup (date) (number)"-currently about 80 GB (binary).

I reserve about 135 GB of available space for backups of the system, so I save only the last backup of the system.

So far, I have no problem with that.

However, the disk hard, there is another folder '(USER NAME)-PC' & under which is a folder "backup of files (date) (number)" for each time that the backup system runs.

These files vary considerably in size - for example, 1 GB, 12 GB, 22 GB. They delete or replace automatically - just, they accumulate.

What I want to know is ~.

What is the purpose\importance of these additional files?

Since I only have a single saved backup, is there a reason to keep additional files prior to the last backup of system? I can remove them systematically?

    Original title: Windows Image backup

    Hello

    Thanks for the reply.

File '(Computer name)-PC "contains the files necessary for the Windows. Data files saved in libraries, on the desktop, and if the Windows folders for all people with a user account on the computer are also recorded.

[The default Windows folders include AppData, Contacts, desktop, downloads, Favorites, links, saved parties and searches.]

The size of these files increases, because the content of the folders mentioned above increases.

For more information, see the article mentioned below:

I do one every time system repair disc I perform an Image backup system?

    (Win7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1)

    Thank you.

    Craig, AMTELCO

P.S. I really did a lot of digging before asking. While I picked up some useful tips in the case, I do simply not the connection.

The Windows repair CD is designed to put you in an environment where you can perform these functions:

    • Perform a system restore.
    • Perform a restore of the Image.
    • Open a command prompt.
    • Repair the boot environment.

All these functions are independent of service packs or updates. It is, therefore, no need to update your repair CD. Also note that an installation of Windows 7 DVD can be used as a Windows repair DVD. Again once he doesn't have any need to update.

  • VMware CBT (tracking changes block): ctk files and multiple backup systems?

Later, we will have a dedicated backup solution, so we will use only 1 VDR + external backup system.

Now my question is: how CBT done when several backup systems require "that is the last blocks changed since the last backup?

I mean if I run Sunday, on the same VDR2, VMs and VDR1 Saturday to VDR2 always have only the changed blocks from Saturday to Sunday and the blocks changed the week lack? !!!

Could someone provide me a technique explaining the depth of the CBT mechanism?

Yes, once a block is modified the corresponding location in the mapping file is labeled with the new changeID.

  • everything except the tablespace from backup system

Is there a way to everything except the tablespace from backup system without having to specify each individual tablespace?

version is 10.1.0.5 on HP - UX itanium.

The reason is the database has been updated since 7.3.4-> 8i - > 10.1.0.5 and we now migrate with RMAN to instead of the user managed backups however, we met a bug when save the index blocks in the system tablesapce this only impacts backupsets compressed so if I can exclude the system tablespace I can run two backups one uncompressed which captures the system tablespace , then another that captures everything. I would really avoid specifying storage space in a script that she then introduced the possibility of a tablespace is added and is not included in the backup.

Unfortunately, if you want to do a full database backup, you will not be able to exclude the SYSTEM tablespace. With this in mind, you will have left with specifying the tablespace backups.

  • Backup system state data

I want the XP Home System State backup as the data I plan on the rationalization of the registry and of course need the backup in the case where I live.

Microsoft has a backup program on the XP home CD.

Toshiba has a recovery disk so I don't have the CD.

I don't think I needed the backup program that I have another backup program, but I was wrong. To back up the system state data, my backup program requires that I have copy their help:

To back up the locking system files under Windows NT4, 2000 and XP systems dfg backup XP uses components of NT backup, which is part of the operating system. In Windows XP Home Edition that the NT backup is not installed by default, so you must install it manually. The NT backup is located on the Windows XP CD in the \VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP directory. If you need to restore files in the System State, you will need to use the NT backup after you have it extracted from Zip archive.

So it seems the only way to save the complete registry and the boot files is to install Microsoft backup program.

It's on the the recovery Toshiba Satellite 2450 this disc anyone know? It is not the disk tools.

I can't find anything on a backup program listed here.

    Appreciate any help.

    Hi TW,.

Check if you have a "VALUEADD" folder installed on your HARD drive. Some OEM installations actually install to the hard drive. You should find the Microsoft Backup utility in there.

  • Backup system

    Hello

I was wondering if someone could help. I send you my Satellite P10 804 of Toshiba for a verification of diagnosis, but I wanted to create a DVD to back up EVERYTHING on my system. I have a lot of files and other things of Uni that I can't lose.

Does anyone know if there is a program of particluar I can use for this? I have Windows XP and Microsoft Office.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi jennie,.

For a single backup so I advise to use the standard installation of Microsoft to copy files to a CD/DVD (note that you cannot use Windows backup because it does not support optical media). This will depend on how well organized your file structure is how easy or difficult, this process will be.

If you want to back up your entire system, such that you could restore it in its entirety (e.g.. If you got a new hard drive installed) then I strongly recommend a utility such as Norton Ghost, which will allow you to perform an image backup complete including the operating system itself.

I understand that you can not restore your PC by using the restore disks.

It seems that you did not follow the process of creating media recovery or data backup process.

If you are unable to restore the image by using the discs.

Please use this link to find out how to create a recovery media: http://hp.care/2byIEKi

However, you can contact HP and get a set of system recovery disks.
