backup windows 7 media center settings (including the list of strings)

Hello

Does anyone know how to save the settings of windows 7 media center (including the list of channels)?

all this remains under a specific folder?

TX

Hello, baruchno

There is no built-in support for media backup Center settings. You can leave comments asking this feature at the following link: http://mymfe.microsoft.com/Windows%207/Feedback.aspx?formID=195

For reference, Media Center stores the settings to: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome

  • Windows XP Media Center 2005 cannot connect to the Internet

    Dear all,

I'm having a problem with Windows XP Media Center 2005. The problem is that when I connect the cable from the modem to the laptop, I only send packets without receiving. The IP address I get is also 169.254.207.207, which is not a valid IP address to connect to the internet, and so I guess that something is blocking the laptop to get the IP address. Another thing I noticed is that when I turned off the modem and restart it, I have connectivity maybe 5 seconds and then return to no connectivity.

You guys can tell me what is the problem, and if I have to download something but in addition to the internet so that I can get my laptop to work. That said, I can connect to wireless with no problems.

Thanks for your help and your time

    Martyna

    Hello

Sorry for the question but what modem did you mean?
A simple analog modem or DSL (broadband) modem that supports support a LAN connection.
If you mean the second then I would check the TCP/IP settings in the properties of LAN card. The settings should be set to automatic

You should also check that you firewall settings.

  • How to enable the DVD library in WIndows 7 Media Center

How do you enable DVD library in Win 7 Media Center?  I tried editing the registry as in Vista, but it does not work with Win 7.  I am running Win 7 Pro 64-bit version.  Thank you

    Hi zt75,

Run you manually editing the registry?

Have you clicked on fix it from the link below? If this is not the case, click on fixit and check if that helps.

How can I enable the DVD library in Windows Media Center on a Windows Vista-based computer?
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/930526

(Although this article is for Windows Vista, we can always give it a shot in Windows 7.)

Or do these steps and check.

To enable the DVD library in Windows 7, follow these steps:

    1. If Windows Media Center is running, close it.
    2. click on start.
    3. in the search box, type regedit.
    4. in the list programs, click on regedit.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
    5. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\Video settings

    6. in the Details pane, right-click VideoGalleryView, and then click on edit.
7 remove the content that appear in the value data box.
    8. in the value data box, type Gallery, and then click OK. Registry value data: Gallery = Activate My DVD; Play = not to activate my DVD
    9. close the registry editor.

To verify that the automatic fix worked, restart your computer. You should now see "DVD library" from the menu. To add DVDs, go to the menu information (click on 'i' on the remote control) and select "Add Movies.

    Try this also:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Start Menu

Check if it has a value of HideDVD, and if the value data is set to 1. If the data in the value of HideDVD is set to 1, then you have two options. One option would be to delete the HideDVD value. The other option would be to change the value from 1 to 0 data.
    6. close the registry editor.

  • Qosmio G50 - cannot install the FM Tuner in Windows Vista Media Center?

Can someone help me get the most out of Windows Vista media center with my new Qosmio G50.

There is a tuner inside this laptop and I have the antenna and its plugged in. The drivers all seem to be installed but WMC tells me that I don't have the hardware to run FM stations and I can't make it work. Also, I can't record library but although I can't watch TV no problem at all.

Someone out there have the answer?

    Hello

Are you sure that your equipped G50 FM tuner to 100%?

As I know a few models of G50 has been equipped with a tuner TV with antenna TV port that allows to connect a coaxial cable to this port to watch a TV program and then save.
But as I said earlier, this feature is not included with all models of G50.

Sorry, but I didn't find any info regarding the FM tuner.

  • Download pirated Windows XP Media Center with the genuine key?

    Hi all

First of all, I apologize if the thread, I created is in the wrong place (Technet forums), but I got enough good help from technet on a Windows 7 problem, that I had. I've recently updated to the Genuine Windows XP Media Center to a genuine Windows 7 Professional.

I own a HP pavilion laptop came pre-loaded with XP MC (media center). Now, HP does not record with the laptop, instead, there is a recovery partition which can be transferred to DVD to create additional space on the HARD drive, I did. Unfortunately my DVD player no longer works, and I can not restore my XP to factory settings (new facility) because the HP restore software only reads from the DVD.

This XP has become bloated over time, and I want to do a new installation.

It is, I could download a pirated copy of the media center XP SP3 and use my real serial number and / or additional information to activate it?

    Thank you

No, because your key is specific to an HP facility.
Replace your DVD player or buy an external hard drive

  • "Windows Media Center cannot detect the IR control cables, which are necessary to control the set-top box. Fixing parts IR that supports the IR control cables and then try again. IR HARDWARE NOT FOUND ".

Original title: when setting up Windows Media Center, I get the error message: "IR hardware not detected".

I have an internal TV Tuner that has been installed by HP, when I bought recently a "computer build-your-own." (According to the control panel Device Manager, my tuner is a Win TV HVR 1290, made by Hauppauge). The computer came with Windows 7. While installing Windows Media Center, after setting up the TV Signal (on channel 3) I am able to see a video thumbnail on my computer screen. I am also able to change the channel using my remote control U-Verse (not the Windows remote control supplied with the computer). So far so good! I then hit next and get the following message: "Windows Media Center cannot detect the IR control cables, which are necessary to control the set-top box. Fixing parts IR that supports the IR control cables and then try again. IR HARDWARE NOT FOUND ".  After you receive this message, the installation procedure is completed. I called HP that support intalled the tuner. They had not the slightest idea what to do. I then called Hauppage customer (manufacturer of TV Tuner). They said that I need to plug one end of the IR Blaster cable that shipped with the computer in a slot in the back of my computer (they told me which slot). They said so to run the IR all the way cable to my cable box and the other end of the cable to my cable box of band. They said it was necessary to be able to use my Microsoft Remote to instruct the box to change channels (cable IR stuck on the box). I told her that I did not use the Microsoft Remote, I could change the channel with my U-verse remote (that I preferred to use anyway). He said that it took the cable on the band decoder in order to remove the error message and the installation of Windows Media Center. I then called U-Verse technical adapter who informed me of their set-top boxes (made by Cisco Systems) do not have the ability to receive signals IR IR Blaster cable (or any othe IR signal source). Microsoft is apparently not understand how U-Verse set-top boxes are designed to work and sells a product incompatible remote control/IR. My question is this: How do I set up Windows Media Center, in order to avoid getting the error message "IR hardware not detected" when you install Windows Media Center and just use the remote control of the U-Verse that I prefer to use in the first place. Once understand you this point, please send the information to HP, At & T U-Verse and others. Thank you.

Ron, I have something for you!

and for all the people who have this problem :)

Hi, I had the time of IR not detected in Windows 7 Ultimate with a TV wonder 650 card and a box of digital adapter from Verizon for my PC... Go on the road to installation and after the Media Center channel search, choose manual configuration. Choose the aerial signal (I aso picked after this analog) l. After he sought more, he finds no channels.  Do not be afraid. Just accept it and go to the main settings page in the Mediacenter. If I remember correctly, then select TV Guide. Choose Add channel. I added the channel 3.

Since my Verizon box has no IR for the computer, I added the channel 3 for the media Center and I change the channels with my Verizon remote. All my stations in the Verizon box go to Channel 3.

The story here is so, for some reason any Windows detects that only my box channel signal TV and you must manually configure the media center on the air, then go to settings and add the channel you want in the guide.

Why the guide TV control which channel you can tune is beyond me, but the scanner locks all channels, it does not detect. they must be added manually in the guide.

My TV works and looks okay now.

    It actually works!

the only problem is that it is not in HD

    but there is something

  • Problem, reinstall the Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

I have problems with MCE 2005.  My hard drive crashed and the technician that restored my repressive said that he could not work in MCE 2005.  It's a shame because he was working before the hard drive crashes.  I work with windows XP.
When I go to install the internet and begin to test the connection it gives me "Critical error of process - Code 2"
When I go to the TV configuration, it tells me "Tuner not found".  Even if I know it works because I also Win TV7 in Hauppauge. My TV tuner is HVR-1600.
With these problems, I thought that the solution might be to reinstall rollup 2 according to the Microsoft.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/910905
However, when I go to reinstall the Update Rollup 2, it seems to be to establish a restore point and then it stops when it hits hotfix (KB891593).
I took a copy of the mcelog and have attached a copy of the log below.

Assistance or management, you can provide me to solve this problem would be highly appreciated.

At this point, I'm a newbie to this and I don't have a clue as to the cause of my problems and any ideas you may have for me would be much appreciated.

    Hi James,

Welcome to Microsoft Community where you can find all the answers related to Windows.

According to the description, it looks that you are not able to install Windows XP Media Center.

I have a couple of steps that should help you to solve this problem.

Follow these 4 steps to install the KB925766 correctly:

    a. if the 886904 update is installed, you must uninstall the 886904 update before you install the Update Rollup 2 for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Otherwise, the installation of .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 will fail.

To determine whether the 886904 update is installed, follow these steps:

    i. click on start, run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.

II. Click to select the show updates check box.
III. in the list currently installed programs, locate the following item:

Fix for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (KB886904)

If you see this option, you must remove the hotfix. To remove the patch, click on the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (KB886904) Hotfix and then click on remove. Then, visit the Windows Update Web sit to download and install the Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

    b. to install this update, you must have Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 installed. Windows Update detects whether these packages are installed. Windows Update automatically installs these packages for you.

    (i) follow the link below to download the .net framework 1.1 manually:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en

    c. cumulative update 2 for the Windows XP Edition Media Center 2005 (KB900325)
Follow the link below to download and install the KB900325:

Windows Media center supports the SSDS. However, when buying, check with the manufacturer if the hard drive is compatible with Windows Media Center operating system in 2002.
