Backups Time Machine missing after model clean install

For a Mac using Time Machine to back up, is there a way to clean install OS X for a new internal SSD and keeps backups Time Machine historical which have been made using the previous internal SSD?  While as I use it to back up the new internal SSD TM, TM will show the backup history of both the previous internal SSD and the new (up to the capacity of the disc from the TimeCapsule).

MacBookPro8, 2 I used Time Machine on a time Capsule TB 3 towards the rear for 2 years. No problems and shows 2.24 available 3 TB.

Last night I did a clean model 10.11.5 install a new SSD, and a transfer application, the user accounts Migration Wizard, etc. Since the previous flash SSD disk internal (format / installed the new SSD, attached to the internal SSD previous via USB flash disk, then started in Recovery Mode to clean the installation model to the new internal SSD and when prompted did the previous internal SSD Migration Assistant).

Everything no problem above went very well. But now when I "TimeMachine enter", I see that the most recent backup made (before the clean install).  The right navigation (which goes in reverse chronological order of the lower part of the screen to the top) seems to show the date on which the previous backups have been identified.  But if I click on a date, TM Finder main window does not scroll from that date. The top / arrow down buttons to the right of the main window of Finder TM also do not respond to clicks.

So far as I can tell, I've lost all TM backups except the most recent. I have all saved data elsewhere outside time Capsule, so between that and the 1 backup, I can see in TM I have not lost anything.

If I had done the Migration Wizard from the TimeCapsule rather than the previous internal SSD flash drive, would that have kept all historical TM backups?

Thanks for any idea

Time Machine, please press the shift-command-C key combination. The windshield will show the mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and search for files to restore.

If you need to restore from a backup of the hidden user library folder, first select a snapshot, and then press shift-command-G. A go to the folder dialog box opens. In this document, you enter the path to the folder. The dialog box will help you by automatically filling parts of the path when you start typing.

The path starts with the slash character ("/"). Enter that. The rest of the parts is separated by slashes.

The next part is the date and time of the current snapshot. Enter a '2', and the rest of the date should be filled in automatically. Press the right arrow key to access the end of the path. Enter a slash to start the next game.

Next is the volume name (usually "Macintosh HD" unless you assigned a different name.) Start typing, then jump to the end and enter a slash.

The next part is 'Users', followed by a slash.

Then is your short user name. It is also the name of your home folder, which is represented by an icon of the House in the sidebar of a Finder window.

Finally, enter "Library", and then press return. You should now be in the library folder. From there, you can move like in the Finder. You can also select another snapshot of the same folder.

  • New R13 - R7 - 372T: Tools missing after the clean install

    Hello!

I got my R13 - R7 - 372T today and I want to do a clean install of Windows 10. I checked the Acer site and saw that most of the drivers are available on the download page, I also found the abApps (Portal of Acer and) download ( https://www.cloud.acer.com/ops/downloads) where I need those who one day but its seems that some of the pre-installed tools/applications are missing. How can I reinstall the following tools if I wipe my device? (I have already created a backup of the recovery partition but I need regular installation files):

-Acer care center (edit: I found a link for verification of compatibility to download it here: http://www.acer.com/ac/en/MY/content/software-acer-care-center )

-Acer Hover access (edit: found the link for flight stationary access here: http://go.acer.com/?id=18022#_ga=1.267060686.114307318.1458377954 but not sure of the version)

-Dolby X 2 Audio Windows App

-Acer Audio utility invert (makes that actually do?)

I'm a little disappointed that Acer does not offer those by convenient download as the rest of the drivers and application of quick access for example. So where can I download those, or how I at least check out them of the recovery media that I created?

Edit: Looks like after some experiences of most of the tools I mentioned is unnecessary (so I removed them from the list) or available by searching around for a while. However the 2 above mentioned utilities are still missing.

    Thank you!

  • Backups Time Machine huge after importing the photos

    Hello world

I noticed that whenever I have import pictures (usually about 3-5 with a few MB each, taken with my iPhone 5 s) the next time tracks TM backs up a huge 50 + GB. I thought that TM would be smart enough to detect only changes in the bundle of photo library? My library is currently 138 GB in size, so whenever I have add a few new images TM is save half of this new.

    What are your experiences?

    Thank you

    Björn

When you make changes to the content of Photos, is not only a few additions that change, but also databases which keeps the pictures. TM stores incremental changes.

  • How to clean the files of time machine restore after reinstall

Just did a wipe and reinstall on an iMac 2011 (10.8.5) mountain running Lion.

I don't want to do a full restore from Time Machine; I just want to take a few important files (cache profiles, e-mail, etc.). [Did the reinstall because my system was flawed and nothing else I did fix it.] [The story is here:beachball recurring in all applications in Lion, finally freezes iMac]

When I open Time Machine on my 'new' machine and turn it on, he says he has no previous backups, but begins to make its first backup in 120 seconds. There is no option to "enter" Time Machine and recover individual files.

I then turn off Time Machine because I'm afraid that it will make a new backup and erase / unrecoverable my previous backups.

The drive Time Machine target exists in disk utility. A 600 + files (backups, no doubt!) and verified without errors.

Before the clean and reinstall Time Machine worked perfectly. I have test-recovered some files and everything was good.

How do I introduce my iMac 'new' to my old backups Time Machine?

    Thank you

Use tmutil inheritbackup such as described by the end Pondini in his FAQ, here: http://pondini.org/TM/B6.html. Follow the instructions in the blue box, entitled "inherit a backup. The is short and simple but please follow carefully.

I believe that you won't always be able to restore individual files until that Time Machine backs up new, then let him. Once this is done, you will have access to your old backups.

Alternate procedure: since you can not keep this old backup after the restoration of the individual in any case files, you can hold a key option key while clicking the Time Machine in your Mac's menu bar. A option «Browse other backup disks...» ' will be displayed. What to choose.

    Hello

Step 1: You can remove it in c:/Windows. With the help of old cleaning disc.

In the disk cleanup, select the previous installation of windows. Put a check mark to remove it.

Note: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • Weird Time Machine question after restoration

    Hi all

First post here so go easy on me

I'll try and make this as brief as possible.

I've been running an iMac 27 "2010 end (still running Lion 10.7.5, but it is stable so I have not found the need to modernize) and NAS from Synology DS212j with TB 2 * 3 disks for the last 3 years. I've set up time service Machine through DSM on the Synology with a quota of 1 200 GB for my iMac which worked perfectly while all the time, during which I restored the weird file without problem.

Recently, for a number of reasons, I felt the need to update the OS of El Capitan to provide specific features that only there, so I made sure that my last backup was not serious and went through the upgrade process. It took a while but seems fine, but in the end, I became artifacts of the screen during the exchange between the office computers and for the worse, completely locked Mail machine as soon as you have clicked on an email. A lot of research on Google and all the patches applied but no joy, I decided to restore Lion and watch a clean install of El Crappo thereafter.

At through the process of full restoration without problem and he has restored from the DS212j without a single question (took about 14 hours but again, it worked) and my Mac was back as if nothing ever happened. Happy days!

Shortly after that, although the problem started with Time Machine backups do not tell me that there is not enough space on the destination to save my machine...

    1. I look into my quota on the NAS (the bit you set to ensure that backups are not the entire disk) and it tells me that there are 820 used GB which I guess is my backups Time Machine original that nothing should have changed on the NAS.

    2. I don't seem to be able to see the Time Capsule shared queue Station disk even after display in shared folders, it should he appear?

    3. I unhid it and he could ride through cmd & k and using smb / / nom_lecteur/Time Capsule so I can now see the volume in the Finder.

    4. I can see there are 2 * sparsebundle files, one for my iMac and the other for Macbook Air my wife. The file for mine displays a last updated date/time of a few minutes ago, but no size of file. The woman shows well, last time/date and file size (he stayed very well throughout this btw).

    5. when I enter Time Machine on the iMac all my historical incremental backups have disappeared and the only backup who shows also available is the date to which I restored from, nothing before and obviously nothing after because there is no space.

I have not a clue what going on here, but it seems to me like it after restoring my sparsebundle file (which is always on the NAS and must be intact) is there, but for some reason the iMac cannot see/index / register or see one of the backups that are contained in.

Apple support tried to help but actually said that they don't support anything other than an official time Capsule and Synology must implement the Time Machine in a different way because he could not find the sparesebundle file, only the tf volume content when it is mounted by trying to start the backup.  From what I read and checked the forums of Synology and the sheets, they don't do anything outside the norm with regard to the Time Machine application, it's literally just a network volume that stores the sparesebundle in the same Apple so designed, then why on Earth after restoring my iMac do not see the content of this sparsebundle file , and why it consumes disk space?

So, what I'm looking for help, is this (or questions):

    A. How do I look inside the time Capsule (this is what I call the Time Machine shared disk) to see how many files is there and if there is a GB 820 that contains all the data from my legacy?

    B. someone at - it an idea how the iMac see and recognize the original file should be here?

    C. If I were to remove the rare bundle that I peut see, will that potentially be old and will be that free space that is held open and allow me to perform a full backup from scratch?

    D. If C is not the original file remains hidden, no idea how I can find...?

    E. do I have other options that you can think of...?

Sorry, that was supposed to be brief, but I wanted to make sure I had all the info there to allow people to understand what has happened and what I did to try to resolve so far.

    Thanks in advance

    See you soon

  • After a clean install of Windows Vista, Intel Wifi card is installed and activated, but does not detect the network.

Wireless card not working after a clean install of Windows Vista

I did a clean install of Windows Vista Home Premium on my HP Pavilion of 32 bits. I've completely updated Windows via Service Pack 2. Given that the clean install, my wireless card, Intel (r) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN, was not able to detect all the networks. The Wifi card is listed under NICs as being installed and activated. the hardware on my laptop Wifi switch is set on "on" and the light is blue, indicating that the card is working.

I can connect to the internet if I connect physically my computer to the modem with an ethernet cable wireless, so the modem isn't the problem. Other computers can connect to the wireless modem, so my Wifi modem functionality is not the problem. The problem with my computer.

I tried to uninstall the Intel driver and reboot my computer with the generic driver. Install the driver generic, but my wireless card has not always worked. I then ran an update of windows, nothing helps.

I tried to install the "Intel® PRO /? Wireless and WiFi Link"drivers for Windows Vista (32-bit 13.1.1.1 the latest version and the previous version 12.4.4.5 32-bit) for the Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN directly from the Intel Web site at http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Wireless+Networking&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+WiFi+Products&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Wireless+WiFi+Link+4965AGN. The map didn't always work with a driver.

In addition to the pilots, I also downloaded a tool of diagnosis of Intel (Intel® PROSet /?) Utility of WiFi wireless connection for Windows Vista 32 -? Bit). Said diagnostic tool the WiFi card is not installed or enabled, however, Device Manager maintains that he is also installed and active.

Is there a problem that causes Device Manager to say that all is well with the card, but does not map to realize that they diminish the radio signals? Everything's fine, diagnostic, it just does not detect networks around him. Help, please.

    Hello

    The on/off switch actually works?

Since it is an internal adapter to ensure it is enabled in the settings of configuration/F2 (BIOS/CMOS) often like you
Start - so look at the screen.

Have you tried the computer on other WiFi networks? You had a WiFi type problem before the

Your router could be suspicious here, you have successfully updated its firmware as a possible solution? And I would like to
Update your WiFi drivers on computers. How you are positioned in the router? Are there

Actually try updating your driver and disabling the network logon.

Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver - write
version - click the driver update (cannot do something that MS is far behind the pilots of certification). Then
Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

After watching the system manufacturer, you can check the manufacturer of the device an even newer version. (The

Repeat for network (NIC) card and is a good time to get the other updated drivers as Vista like

  • Can not install HP 4480 after a clean install of Mac OS Lion

I have a HP 4480 USB printer that worked on my iMac with OS X 10.7 (Lion) very well until I erased my hard drive and a cleaning set from 10.7.  I reinstalled the software update HP driver and downloaded the latest driver on the HP website successfully.

The name of the device looks fine when I try to add the printer in system preferences. But I get this message: "an error occurred while trying to add the selected printer.  Cannot find the appropriate software on your system after a software update running. "The name of the printer indicates also the HP utility under device information and, ironically, I was able to print the test page for HP!

But I am not able to print a document, always get a condition No. selected printer.  I tried several different sequences of resetting the printer, unplug the USB cables, reloading the drivers of HP and software update, try to add the printer and restart the computer.  Maybe I don't have the right order.

    Can you help me?

Thanks PrintDoc and ShlomlL to keep me on the right path.

My printer problem is resolved by making a second clean install of the OS Lion, but this time immediately install my printer.  The problem seems to have been caused by the Migration Wizard when more of my backup Time Machine from another computer.

  • Partial access to the backup time machine

    Hello

I tried to upgrade Yosemite to El Capitan, but failed. If the local bank staff did a clean install for me. Prior to this, internal hard drive for my Mac has been saved using Time Machine, on an encrypted external hard drive. However, Time Machine is unable to restore a back ups (shows the chronology of the previous backups, but the restore button is gray).

However, backups are visible in the structure of the external hd directories. However, only some, not all directories are available. For example, I was able to copy Documents mailed to the internal hd hd, but Google Drive are not available. More detail in the attachments.

My question is: How can I solve the problem just described and, in particular, to obtain access to directories that are blocked so far on the external hard drive?

Indeed, you have a 'new' Mac... from the hard drive of your Mac "old" has been erased and a new operating system has been installed.

Time Machine will allow you only to restore a backup, if you look at your current Mac made backups. Since you have a 'new' Mac... (who did not backup, Time Machine is concerned)... you can not use Time Machine to restore the data.

Instead, use the Migration Wizard on your Mac.  It is located Finder > Applications > utilities > Migration Wizard

Things could be a lot easier, however, if you take the Mac and your hard drive... with Time Machine backups... back to the Apple Store and let the 'genius' accomplish the task it should have done before.

In fact, when you first turned on the new 'Mac', installation wizard should have appeared and ask you if you want to restore from Time Machine backups.  That would be the best way, and easier to make your 'new' look Mac as your 'old' Mac but fortunately Migration Assistant can perform a similar function.

  • El Capitan upgrade crash & loss of backup Time Machine

I have a 2008 MBP running Yosemite and back up to a Time Capsule. Last week, I noticed weird problems with connectivity and slow performance. Last week, I started receiving messages that the Time Machine backup failed.

I decided to upgrade to El Capitan in the hope to solve weird problems I saw. I checked in the application Time Machine that my last backup was March 28, so I proceeded with the upgrade.

The upgrade of the El Capitan crashed and I got an error report. I tried several of the fixes available online (hold Shift and start in safe mode to complete installation, command-R and reloading the OS X). Nothing has worked.

I finally decided to go back to my backup TM start over and try again. I held command-R and got in the start menu. I chose to restore from a backup Time Machine, which has been connected to my TM. However, my TM shows that my latest backup is 28 July 2015. It is a huge problem...

How is it, I was warned never between July and March that backups are not working?

Why TM would show that I had a valid backup on 28 March, when its not available in the restoration of the process?

I am at a loss. I am trying to restart in safe mode to see if my files are still on my local HD, but who is locked up.

Can you please advise what to do? Thank you.

    Time Machine is less reliable.

I advise the people now to create a clone of their computer startup drive bootable using an application like Carbon Copy Cloner... immensely more reliable than TM.

Which of course is useless for you now.

My advice is to put the current hard drive of the computer replaced. It is likely that the installation failed (and your previous operating system was in place) because of the disk hard defective... they are cheap and readers are now extremely better than 2008 if the laptop is on the original drive.

Clean, install the OS on the new drive, then connect the old hard drive to the computer using a sata cable USB... drive bracket / speaker.

Then you're going to see how good or bad it is... and I hope that you can import (use the migration assistant) and get all of your files.

  • No restore factory after a clean install of Windows 7

Factory support key F11 RnR restores after a clean install of win7?

I did a new install of win7 and installed a RnR last on my T410. When I tried F11 RnR, there is no option to restore with. My SYSTEM_DRV and Lenovo recovery xxxx exist and are suitable for all the files in them.

I have recovery disks, but I just what to see if restore factory F11 works on this path.

Fix. I had already understood what you were doing.

I'll say it simple as I can:

    (1) installed at the factory

The secret is windows 7 added windows re (recovery of win7 to the mix environment). Lenovo plant reorganizing this to factory support. This has created a hidden from the factory restore boot entry.

    (2) your installation "sideways", IE, cram lecteurC.

This wax installation tips from lenovo. That is to say, no factory entry to move to the RNR standalone.

    (3) any property. do not delete anything. (such as SYSTEM_DRV).

    ==

You have a dead now at the new disk space.  This works. Large.

Use RNR and backup every week in a place (external). I know that it was not fun, but has been a learning experience.

    ==

    To clarify: (confusion)

RNR is the main big daddy.  This is the main task is to rescue by using a backup RNR. Recovery (factory) is a subset, not exactly. This just transfers control to another entry for starting a recovery plant stuff. Thus, Rescue and Recovery.  I answer all the time about it. Yes, they look different, they are.

  • How to set up backup Time Machine with MacBook?

    Hello community:

I wonder what is the best way to configure a Time Machine backup with a new MacBook.

Because the device has only a USB port that is also used to load, I don't really feel comfortable that I can only backup wile, the MacBook is on battery. That doesn't seem fair.

One possibility would be to use the adapter USB C AV that she can continue to charge the MacBook while being a USB hard drive is connected. But I'm not a big fan of having to deal with three cards for a simple task like a backup.

Apple promotes wireless with the MacBook. One possibility is to use a (rather expensive) Time Capsule or a NAS that takes care of Time Machine.

There are now hard drives wireless market. Does anyone have experience with these?

I'd be curious to know how you do it.

    Thank you!

Ideal for keeping backups Time Machine 'behind the scenes', you want to use the solutions SIN or Time Capsule. You can also use a 802.11ac AirPort Extreme with a USB external HD as well.

Don't forget the partial backups will occur at least once per hour after the first full backup is made to take full advantage of what offers Time Machine. Although the connection of an external disk directly to the MacBook would potentially offer the best performance of overall data transfer, it must be connected.

Unfortunately, I have no experience with hard drives wireless so I can't help you there. Because they would have to connect to the same network of Wi - Fi as the MacBook, all backups would go first the wireless AP, then, on this disc. I can only imagine the performance of data transfer to be a little dismal at best.
