Bad BIOS update question, bricking of laptop with Lenovo site

Hi all

Heat up some way for a first post,?

I'll be brief, because I'm not in a good mood at the moment.

Because I'm a fool, I decided to update the BIOS of my Y510. I went to Lenovo website and began to enter "Notebooks & Handhelds" > "IdeaPad Y510," 7758 for the type (I think it's the only one listed).»» There was no number 7758-Q__ on my laptop ANYWHERE (including box) and the auto-detect application says "INVA-LID" (lol). The type is actually 15303 (which is an option if you go to http://consumersupport.lenovo.com, but the problem is it true, too).

in any case, I downloaded the update to the BIOS 06CN29WW. I ran it, but I noticed when I was in the utility EasyFlash, it registers the current version as being the version of 21/04/08 06CN30w be a fool and not to think to much of it, I flashed anyway. On reboot,.

"No device detected wireless network support.

The system is shut down.

Large.

I removed the wifi card (and this is the original of the wifi card, too) and it starts right up.

Here's the problem: I can't find the right BIOS (06CN30WW) file ANYWHERE. The last update on the lenovo site (http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/lenovo/drivers/2412/893.html) is 06CN29WW (21/03/08), but its listed as 21/04/08. 06CN30WW is 04/21/08; the old version is listed on the Lenovo site as new version by mistake.

If someone who has the power to bed this, please Please update the download the correct version. Until then, my laptop is either unusable or captive via ethernet (that sucks).

Hi, I googled your problem and the second link (http://tianyi.it168.com/viewthread.php?action=printable&tid=520805 , it's in Chinese), I found a link to the 06CN30WW. ROM file (it is in fact on this page: http://tianyi.it168.com/viewthread.php?tid=520917&extra=page%3D1%26amp%3Bfilter%3Dtype%26amp%3Btypei...). The site requires you to register to download, and I don't know if you read Chinese, I downloaded the file here:

http://www.Megaupload.com/?d=36YJM3I7

You should be able to use the same method update the BIOS as described above - http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/lenovo/drivers/2412/893.html , but also opt for the new version of the. ROM at step 6.

Hope that helped.

I have a Qosmio x 300 - 13w and noticed that there is a BIOS recent update 1.8 for this laptop. I want to this flash as it can help with a problem with the Fn keys and adjusting screen brightness according to the release notes.

However the download available on the European site of Toshibas only allows to Flash the BIOS of Windows and recommend this method.
The strange thing is that the same BIOS update of the Toshibas USA site is very different insofar as it allows flash diskettte, CDs or windows and in its statement accompanying notes said flashing within windows present a higher risk to break the laptop.

What I don't understand, is why European download offers only a flash within the method windows and States on the download page that is that Toshibas method recommended update and still on the American site, it says that it is more risky and give more choice - what gives people?

Why Toshiba Europe puts its customers in a potential situation of bricking their phone?

Whatever do Toshiba will always be strange or understandable for someone.
Maybe you are an expert in computer science and maybe you have the floppy drive, but you must understand that 99% of people do not have floppy drive and don't understand what means BIOS.

Thus, Toshiba has to offer something that will be easy, but at the same time efficient for these clients of 99%.
Way easier for the update of the BIOS is double click on the exe and everything will be done automatically.

Toshiba Europe is not the same thing as Toshiba U.S.. Two continents, two different systems and another right.
Maybe company policy is also not the same. We can only speculate on this.

In any case, the BIOS update is here so it is your decision to do or not. If you want the update of the traditional BIOS you can contact Toshiba nearest service if they can get it for you.

    Thank you

    HI Yves,

Unfortunately, if the BIOS update procedure does not work (or fill), then it is likely that the BIOS in the CMOS chip had been corrupt and without it, you will not be able to boot your laptop to fix the problem.

It will be necessary to bring (or send) your laptop to a repairer authorized to have reflashed BIOS.

  • BIOS update failed on Tecra R10 with Windows7

    Hello

I have problems with the update the BIOS of my Tecra R10J. The current version is 1.4, and I want to upgrade to 3.0, so I downloaded from the Toshiba web site the good file named "P006Cv300.exe" 2009-11-04 released. It is an update of the BIOS online in a real session of Windows 7. Simply right click the compress exe, click Run as admin and that is all, but... for me, he said:
    * "[Error] the start of the service was abandoned. The user doesn't have administrative privileges. "

    See below:
    http://perso.Orange.fr/100Mo/bioserror.jpg

    I tried with:
    -closed AV, firewall, etc...
    -turn off UAC
    -Run as administrator
    -Tried with another admin account
-Safe mode (update of the bios doesn't support safe mode)
    -lead the local administrator session

No change. Always the message "user lacks administrative privileges."
Need help please, found nothing on Google (similar but not resolved Bios problem!)

    Thank you

    Hey ignore them,

As Akuma has already written the added value Package must be installed for BIOS update for the BIOS to read system information correctly. Besides, the VAP is needed for special functions such as the FN keys so it must be installed.

It would be interesting to know what is happening with the factory settings. I guess that your computer laptop wasn t ship with Windows 7, but with Vista and you should try it with Vista.

    Welcome them

  • BIOS update question

Hi, I recently got a ThinkCentre M52 8113-E7U TC series

My question is about the BIOS update.

If I update to the latest version, this is includes all fixes from previous versions?

I noticed, that I can not boot from USB more than flash drives 2 GB, I see it as a fix in an update of the earlier BIOS, so if I update to the latest version of BIOS will it also include this fix?

    Thank you

    Rick

    Hello and welcome,

The BIOS updates are cumulative and include previous fixes and improvements.

  • HP DC7700p Bios Update Question

    Hello

I recently bought an old DC 7700p but I can't figure out what bios to use updated.

The specifications of the system are:

    Core 2 Duo E6400

512 MB Ram (which I upgraded to 2 GB)

    80 GB HARD drive

    GMA 3000 onboard

And there seemed to be a Quadro NVS 280 in the PCI slot and a NVS 285 in the PCI-E slot I can't use yet, as I do not have a DMS-59 adapter

The problem im having is that in the description of the product this product Intel Vpro technology however since the seller was selling in bulk, I don't know if all of the pc were infact vpro that my pc doesn't have a vpro on that sticker I can't find something to do with vpro technology. Is there a way I can confirm if I vpro, so I can determine whether Flash Bios Update for PCs with Vpro or those without it?

The reason why I want to update the bios is because until I get my cable Adpater for the gpu, I want to use the vga integrated however I could get only this works if I physically unplug the motherboard cards and I found no option for this in the bios. Currently I have BIOS version 786E1 v1.09, who seems to be old and hoped that a more recent bios will be options I'm looking for.

Also my SKU number is ET090AV if its any help

    You are the very welcome.

I would invest in a little money in a dedicated video card with dvi/vga/hdmi, if you want to connect the PC to a TV if you get HD video and sound via a HDMI cable.

If you connect the intel 3000 video vga tv-out port, you will get no sound and analog video.

Add it on the map that you deleted would probably not be better for this - and once again, no sound.

Here is a link to a card fanless for video nice, quiet, at a decent price.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16814102933

One thing to know when you install a video card with HDMI on an older HP business desktop as a dc7700.

After installing the card, your integrated audio system will be very probably disabled. This is because there is a HDMI audio chip on the circuit of graphics card.

A dc7700 is too old for the BIOS to make the difference between whether or not you have also added a new sound card, so it disables the onboard sound and the integrated video.

Currently you will not oboard audio setting in BIOS.

But after I installed a video card with HDMI output, you will.

After installing the drivers for the restart of the video card, go into the BIOS menu advanced settings and find the onboard audio setting.

It will be set to Disabled.  Change the active setting. Save the setting here and even once, when you go out.

After you restart, you will have the back of Board.

When you connect an HDMI cable to the TV, you should have audio and video to the TV via the HDMI cable.

You may need to select the HDMI sound in Control Panel > article to change the setting of the HDMI to the TV speakers.

This part, I do not know because I have never connected a TV to my PC.

My Hp Support Assistant wants me to update my bios...

I have two questions regarding this.

    1. the software to Flash the bios is not compatiable with windows 10.  It will be safe to run anyway? (Yes, I have installed a free update to windows 10)

2 sp71055.exe f42.ap1 (corresponds to the file, it is recommended to run to my i7 from intel, patch notes (always never enough information) provide that it restores or that it provides the original bios.)

    My bios version connected is

    BIOS version / date f/34. 12-19-2014

On a previous occasion, I thought I already flashed the bios and I was wondering if I need to restore to the original version, or it turns out is a bit 'off '.

The link you have provided updated the bios with no ill affects (for now!) Thank you for your help

  • Satellite A300D - 156 BIOS update failed - I need assistance with recovery

    Hello

I know it is old enough, but until now, it was just good enough for my use.
In any case, after I did a restore of the Windows Vista operating system came with my computer, I got a notification of one of the tools of Toshiba that an updated BIOS is available for my computer.
I downloaded and tried to perform an update. After that the process had finished (probably), the computer has not responded to the pad touchscreen and keyboard. I was not sure if the update really took place, especially because it looked like the computer has been is frozen. So I left it for the next +/-30 minutes, but no change.
So I decided to reset it as even the power button did not work. So I had to remove the battery and unplug the AC power.

... and the computer has (almost) dead then.

Now, it is that when I press the power button it seems to power up but the screen remains blank, fan works and Windows is not booting. It's just a short scratching sound of the DVD drive noise, and that's all.

My question is, what is the recovery procedure in my situation? I tried to look for potential assistance on the Internet and I found a few forum or articles messages indicating that there is some recovery for the different BIOS procedures, but what is the procedure for my BIOS? The only thing I found the 'work' was that if I press the power button now the keys Fn + Esc, computer laptop powers on with power button / stop flashes. But how to force recovery BIOS flashing procedure?

Thanks in advance for any help!

It's really stupid situation now. You will not be able to fix it with a simple recovery operation. BIOS is broken.
In the past I have faced no such situation but on this forum I found a very interesting thread on BIOS recovery. Please take some time and visit this thread.

Maybe this will help you with your machine.

  • Satellite L450 automatic BIOS update it bricked

    Hiya,

My wife has a portable Satellite L450 and it has been updated the BIOS through automatic updates of Toshiba, she said yes to it. The update took forever, that's where 'update' for over an hour, then he stopped responding so I had no choice but to draw power and now he refuses to do anything. When I turn it on the power light turns on and light hard drive falters you a bit, but the screen remains black.
My laptop has bricked by the update of the BIOS via the Toshiba program. It is just out of warranty, but it's 100% fault Toshibas.

    What can I do?

    Thank you
    Steve

    Hello Steve

    Sorry to hear that.
What you can do? When you first contact the nearest Toshiba provider in your country, explaining the situation and talking with the guys what we can do about it.
Be cool and don't be arrogant. Many people call the service and scream on the phone. Don t for this. Be cool, trying to explain what happened and ask for help.

I hope that they will help you and you will be able to use your laptop again.

  • Satellite A210-16f - after the BIOS update pops up a window with password

    Hello

I tried to update the BIOS on my Toshiba Satellite A210. I downloaded an update from the official site of Toshiba, and then I did everything according to the instructions.
I've updated the BIOS under Windows.
Update at the end, a massage "updated successfully" appeared and I just need turn on the computer again.
So I did, and there was a problem.

When I turn on my computer now, it shows me a blue window with a password. I don't know password.
Maybe you know how to disable the password or you know some passwords for Toshiba which corresponding?

Toshiba doesn t have a sort of universal password, and unfortunately, no one here can help you with this problem.
I just hope that you have downloaded the good BIOS upgrade for your laptop model.

The password can be removed by the Toshiba service provider. They can do it in 15 minutes.
Sorry, but buddy I'm afraid there is nothing you can do about it.

  • Satellite L850/0C9: Toshiba Service Station recommend bad BIOS update?

I have a portable Satellite L850 - 0C9 and Toshiba Service Station recommended I install the new update of the BIOS that are marked "Satellite Pro update BIOS of C850 - v6.50.

Should I install that is not the same model as my laptop
If this is not the case, why gas station recommend that I install it?

I guess it's your laptop and all the drivers and BIOS available for this model of laptop:
    http://www.MyToshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/l850/pskdla-0c900r/download

The latest version of the BIOS is v6.50 and it seems to be the right one.
C850 Pro seems belongs to the series even though maybe the BIOS is the same.

However, the update of the BIOS is still a technique sensitive and from my point of view it is not really necessary if you n t s were a serious problems.

  • Equium L40: After bad Bios update cannot use the WLan

Hi there hope someone can help.

I've updated the Bios as tempo toshiba said, but I have not read the last piece. Who was that it is not for mine which is the model L40.

I have now tried to put the right pair, but he says he can't. As I'm putting that has an earlier date.

My main problem now is that my wireless stopped working, it says its there and so to work, I put the switch on, but he can't find any networks he used to find approximately 4 in my area

Do I have to restore my entire system :(?

I'm really confused about your message because the European Toshiba page provides drivers and BIOS for one Equium L40 series m.
I found 2 different versions of the BIOS for Equium L40; a BIOS for XP and a BIOS for Vista.

In my opinion it of almost not possible to update the BIOS with the wrong version

However, it you have updated and used the wrong BIOS, then you must contact the ASP to help

But first, I recommend a check of the WLan configuration

I have auto update turned off and I do it manually updates. I get an Error 8007000 b, but nothing on your microsoft site helps me with this error message. I use this SUITE for anti-virus, spam, spyware protection and there a fire wall which I tried to turn it off, but it does not matter still can not download updates. Please help, I am running out of options to try. I also checked on installed updates and nothing in this list on computer is required/recommended updates on windows update, when I do the search.

    Hi tdigiannurio,

Thanks for posting your questions to answers.microsoft.com

Here is some information that should help you with this error.

If you receive the 8007000 b error when you try to install Windows Vista updates, the Windows file system transaction log is damaged. The transaction log is used by the Windows file system to recover when a file error occurs. To correct this error of update, you clear the log. Here's how:

To clear the file system transaction log

    1.

Click the Start button. In the Search box, type command prompt, and then, in the list of results, right-click command promptand then click run as administrator.

    2.

In the command prompt window, type fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\. (This assumes that C: is the drive on which Windows Vista is installed. If Windows is installed on another drive, change the drive accordingly letter.)

    3.

    Restart your computer.

    4.

Download and install the update again.

If the problem persists after you follow the steps above, go to the Center of Support Windows Update website to try to find more information about the error code or to request support by e mail.

Let us know if it helps to address the known issue or if additional assistance is needed.

  • Impossible to update the PC Dell laptop with Microsoft or Windows 8.1 updates

I have two windows on the PC at home. The desktop machine has detected the 8.1 update and I installed it without any problems whatsoever (XPS from Dell all-in-one 32-bit). The laptop (Dell 14z Ultrabook - 64-bit) did not detect the update.

I tried via Metro and also interfaces classical, for "updates" to work, because they apparently have not. Each time, she turns just constantly and I get nowhere.

I tried to refresh and then also tried reinstalling the machine W8 - whenever he "prepares" for basically of 15-20 minutes until I give up, because obviously, it won't work.

Clearly, there is a problem here and I need to know what to do. I should do a USB and try reinstalling from there own W8? Or can I do this directly to 8.1?

Or is there something I can do to get an update via the machine itself?

I have the same problem with the same laptop. No solution

    gonzad,

    Mine is now sorted.

I turned the machine, a couple of times.

I next went to Windows Update again. This time I just left it.

Hey presto, a few hours later, she had discovered 32 important updates.

I asked it to update, that was then. Once again, this process has taken an extremely long time, maybe an hour. This can be down to the web connection, as the machine was very happy to play a Youtube video.

Anyway, as soon as the update and the updates installed, the 8.1 update was visible on the market and installed without a hitch.

I hope this helps - the answer is to persevere.

    SP

Oh, BTW, I also checked the Windows Update settings in 8.1 and they are configured to download updates, which somehow, strangely, and certainly not down to me, were not set up for the auto-update in Windows 8.
