Original title: replacement hard drive configuration issue

My hard drive crashed and I can't access anything anyone on this subject. I have a second hard drive that was used for additional storage only. I'm doing this second walk my master drive. After changing the cables, jumpers, the bios settings to show as the master I am using the Windows XP disk, I try to put in place. I get an error message that says: I need a full version disc windows genuine, not a disc to upgrade to. When I bought the computer it came with Windows ME preinstalled and there was no disk that came with the machine. When I went to XP apparently, I bought a version upgrade, not the full version. Is it possible to get a cd of microsoft, or download a file, which can help get this another hard drive mounting correctly?

  • EliteBook 8570w system repair disc Windows 7

    Hi all

I wanted to do a repair disc Windows on my Elitebook 8570w system. It's pretty easy because Hp has a program called Hp Recovery Disc Creator that accomplishes this task for you. It gives you a possibility to burn a Windows disc and a driver disc. What HP calls the Windows disk is the system repair disc.

Now, my problem is that the Windows disk does not work correctly (no idea why). When booting from the DVD screen guard stuck to Windows is loading files... Also when I try to run the installer from the DVD, I get error messages that says 'F:\Sources\autorun.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.' and after 'the file 'autorun.dll' could not be loaded or is corrupt. Setup cannot continue. Error code is [0xC1]"because I had all of a sudden to make the drive I can't simply make another DVD.

Then, I tried to let Windows do the repair system itself disc (help to create a system repair disc). However, I get a different error message: "the parameter is incorrect (0 x 80070057).» Some people suggest that HP Recovery Disc Creator has "hijacked" the function "Create a system repair disc" window and this is what causes the problem. If HP does not give me a second try, and it prevents Windows to give me a second try as well! Then, perhaps to remove HP Recovery Disc Creator would work. However, it does not list in programs and features and I can not find an uninstall file in its directory.

When you try to find a solution I came across a guide to create a boot Windows 7 Installation USB drive (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2432-usb-windows-7-installation-key-drive-create.html). She is to copy the files from the installation of the USB disk. Step 21 details the files that are on the installation disc. They are the same as on my system repair disc.

Download an image of the installation disk so the same as downloading an image of the system repair disc? (I download an atm file but don't know if that makes sense) If not, are there other options to create a new system repair disc? Maybe somehow Uninstall HP Recovery Disc Creator or he fool into thinking I have not yet tried to do a Windows disc? Where can I download a disk image of the repair system somewhere online (I found most of the links are dead)?

Please let me know if additional information is required! Thanks in advance!

    Michael

TLDR: burned a disc repair system, the disk is not working properly, HP and Windows will not let me try to burn again. Other options?

    Hello:

You can probably make an ISO file of the version of W7 Pro you must go to the link below.

Use the SP1 media files regenerate.

    http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/14709-Windows-7-Digital-River-direct-links-multiple-languages-x86-amp-x64/page59?p=470600&viewfull=1#post470600

Use the W7 Pro from the bottom of the laptop product key to activate the installation.

This tool allows to transfer the ISO to a flash DRIVE or a DVD drive.  The tool also performs the bootable file.

Your other option would be to order a series of W7 for your PC recovery discs, by contacting HP for the country that you live in the link below.

  • Installed new module memory for laptop, found original was bad, while windows Vista does not start by going blank after the "status bar".

I have a Windows Vista running on a Sony VIAO laptop and has been updated with level 3 to 4 GB of memory. During the memory test, I found that 2 GB of original module was bad and replace it with the new 2 GB module end back where I started with 3 GB. However, Windows starts only at a little past the rectangle with 3 points moving ("State Bar"?) and them it goes to black and the desktop never appears. I tried to roll back to the last working version of Windows settings, but always the same results.

What can I do now? Is there a way to check and fix disk errors?  Is it possible to install Windows XP Pro or I have to go to Windows 7.  I even has System Mechanic Pro running on this laptop and it did help some casued the problem. It's as if the disc is damaged for some reason any.  Only with Vista felt this helpless.

It seems to me that the new memory you have installed is bad or incompatible with the system.  First, remove all chips and reinstall them and then try to make sure that they are correct and secure again - don't just press them in place, effectively remove and the replacement and make sure they are in the right direction.

Boot from the Installation of Windows Vista genuine disc (or you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc with recovery options included in this topic. If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD (perhaps made on another computer, or perhaps in SafeMode with network if it does not - that would be a good sign if it is true). You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.  Select recovery options and follow the instructions until you see the menu.  Once there, select the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool and run it and see what it says.  If it detects problems (and I suspect it might), you may need to replace the new chip memory.

I hope this helps.  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try other options.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite C660D-153 of reconstruction after failure or bad HD Windows 7 is installed

Having bought a new hard drive, installing Windows 7 Professional and all Toshiba drivers, relevant (which it turns out that you don't need a recovery disk for - fantastic) I went and sewed to the top myself because I have the product key is for home edition Premium, non-professional.

If I can take another disc of Windows 7 Home Premium, as I did not, between the two types of switching will be relatively simple? Anything else I should know?

I think that you need to do a clean install.
After that, you need to apply all the drivers and utilities.

But the fact is that the MS Windows 7 installation disc contains all versions of Win 7 different (etc. Ultimate, Home Premium) and the version you install depends on the product key. The only difference is that if it's 32-bit or 64-bit.

So if you were able to install Windows 7 Professional, you should also be able to install the Win 7 Home Premium using the same disk

  • Satellite A300-1MC - I have bad discs?

I recently bought the upgrade to Windows 7, which has just arrived.

I know that there are some things that I use which will be like everything does not work with Windows 7 so I did a dual boot, two reasons one is if I can still use the Vista operating system and the other so I can get used to Windows 7 and its different ways before going over to him completely.

The problem I have is that if the disc of Windows 7 seems to have loaded OK Toshiba upgrade disc with all the system files like DVD, mouse, touch programmable keys key etc. does not load as she asked my model type and the number, but they are not in the list that appears.
    I have a Satellite A300-1MC.

Only, I bought the upgrade when I went on the site of Toshiba and informed the option to update the page. I also tried my laptop more old, but who told me that it was not covered by the offer so the disk that I should work with the laptop more recent (A300).
Have I been sent the disc wrong or is there something I need to do to get it to load?

I really want to keep the dual boot, but if there is no way to make Windows 7 work then I have my money on another asted product from Ms.

    Hey Buddy,

I'm a little confused about your Mr. ad if I understand you correctly Yes your problem is just that you can t find your model (A300-1MC) on the upgrade disc.
    Is this correct?

If yes I can only say from my own experience that you should look for the model number. AFAIK A300-1MC belongs to the series of PSAG8E and you will get this model.
    Check this box!

I hope I could help a bit and if you have any other questions, please let us know! :)

You will have to order recovery disks, if you live in the USA/Canada, call HP at this number 1-800-334-5144 and see if you can still get a set of recovery disks.  Otherwise the site worldwide: http://welcome.hp.com/country/w1/en/support.html

If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

  • Original discs Windows Vista OS lost or missing.

I have a laptop that crashed hard drive.  I bought a new hard drive, but I don't have the original disc of Windows Vista OS.  I don't have the original product key with the laptop.  Y at - it somewhere I can download the software for free and use my original product key?

The laptop is a series of ML6732 gateway with a 360 GB HDD.  The product key is on the laptop.

    Hello

You can communicate with the gateway and ask them to send you a set of Vista recovery disks.

They do it for a small fee.

    http://support.gateway.com/us/en/support/default.aspx

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

    See you soon.

  • New hard drive gets the INVALID disc Windows 7 64 bit upgrade product key!

I installed Windows 7 Home Premium and within 24 hours, my hard drive is dead. I replaced the hard drive and reinstalling Windows 7 Home Premium with 64-bit disc. Everything went well until the time of the entry of the product key. When I typed in the key of this program returned an INVALID KEY message and instructed me to check and retype the key, I did. Product key message invalid was repeated. I have not installed a previous version of windows before you reinstall 7, and the installation program never asked me to check my right to use the upgraded version (Yes, I used the CUSTOM install method).

The INVALID PRODUCT KEY message due to the absence of an earlier version of windows is detected on the new hard drive? I need to install my OLD version of windows before proceeding with Windows 7, can I? Please help me understand what is happening with this PC. I convinced my sister to be upgraded because Windows 7 is SO much in my PC, so that she bought the upgrade disc and tried for a week to get its system works as well as mine has inlaw for several months. I have not heard of someone having this much trouble with the upgrade to Windows 7.

Product keys don't care equipment. They only care about the version of Windows that you are trying to install. (However, you cannot validate a facility later but this is another topic).

If your product key is rejected, then you are two typing errors or you are using a key that does not match the DVD that you are using. This could happen if you use a MS Office key for a Windows installation to a key of Windows 7 OEM for a DVD retail of Windows 7.
