bad speed of CPU on Tecra A2

I just bought a tecra A2 1 .8GHz, but after the installation of lavalys Everest home edition I discovered it only runs at 1600 MHZ and that FSB runs at 100 Mhz. What is the problem and what can I do to change the speed of the CPU? Something wrong happened during installation?

Hi aves

Check the speed of the CPU processing in the power manager. You can set it to maximum speed.

I wonder if someone might be able to answer a question for me.

I have a beautiful Tecra R10-11 b and he's been very good for quite a few years. It works under Win XP and did everything he asked without problem.

I want to know, however, is if it is possible to mount a faster processor. I have a suspicion that the installed processor can be fixed permanently and is not replaceable, but I'd like to know.

I had played with the idea of replacing the P9400 Intel Core Duo with something a bit new, so maybe install Win 7 and more memory. There are 3 GB of ram installed.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

The CPU is bad, which means that the processor is removable.
But important fact is that the manufacturers of portable don t CPU upgrade support.
One of the main reasons is the BIOS which is especially modified by the manufacturers of cell phones.

But let's start with a few basics:
The CPU must be supported by the BIOS and chipset.

So let's ' s check what CPU would be taken in charge by Mobile Intel GS45 Express Chipset, which is part of the Tecra R10 - 11 b
Here on this page of the Ark from Intel, you can find compatible processors
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/35505/Intel-82GS45-graphics-and-memory-controller-hub#@compatibility

But even if the chipset would support new CPUS, some compatibility issues may appear because of the BIOS.
However, the Intel Core 2 Duo CPU (Penryn Montevina) processor have been equipped in different models of R10, so probably other Intel Core 2 Duo processors are supported.

By the way: the RAM can be upgraded up to 4 GB of RAM

  • Decommissioning of CPU on Tecra A8 - how change BIOS and fan work?

I recently downgraded the processor in a Tecra A8 of a T7200 at a T2300 and the fan is now at full speed all the time. I am aware that I need to change the bios somehow to tell him that he is now using a different processor, does anyone know how to do this? If it requires a specific program, please provide a link, or let me know the name and I'm going to find a copy.

Please don't give me the answer of stock that changing a processor is not possible. It + is + possible, although I understand that Toshiba would much rather have buy me a new laptop at home while they did intentionally what should be an exchange of relatively simple equipment to a real problem. There is really no good reason for why these laptops bios cannot adjust their profiles automatically cooling for the whole class of processors socket M.

The TDP of a T2300 is 2 degrees lower than that of a T7200 so the cooling system of the laptop must face easily, infact it is A8 models out there that originally shipped with a T2300. All that I want to be able to do is swap processor with another compatible processor without the machine going mental, it's too much to ask of a piece (originally) quite expensive Kit.

PS. Toshiba actually read and post on these forums or is it just fans?

I assume you want to read what says Toshiba on Exchange of CPU in general:

You are right. I also switched the CPU on my old Satellite M70.

In any case, the document of Toshiba wrote:

  • Question about CPU on Tecra 8100

    Hello.

I think I bought the toshiba tecra 8100 on summer (when I had the money), but I have question. What is this laptop processor?
I read it as 600 mhz, 700 mhz, 800 mhz and 850 mhz, but what really are? Or it's possible overclock via the bios etc?

    Hello

I Don t understand the question is what a laptop processor. It s the thing that makes your 'computer' computer or think. No matter what.
The speed is set in Mhz, so it depends on the model how Mhz, the processor of your machine has.

The exact clock speed is written on the label on the bottom of your machine. You can also try CPU - Z to determine the exact speed of your processor.

And NO, not possible to overclock the CPU of machines it s.

Problem is that the fan, then stay on continuously which is very annoying. Changing the settings for the CPU to the preferences of the user back fan online, but the CPU by default back to half speed still independently to know if I choose the high or low processor settings. XP PC power management has no effect and I can't get the Toshiba power management utility and works under XP (but I guess that the BIOS settings should do the same).

Any ideas how to get max speed CPU of this thing without the incessant fan noise?
    TIA

    Hello

The most important thing is that Windows XP Home edition is not tested on Portege 7020 and it is not supported by Toshiba. This means that it some Toshiba tools will not work properly (power management). In my opinion the mobile processor is not identified bz OS. Sorry, but I think that there is no solution. You can try to change the option from BIOS to OS settings.

One of my friends also Portege 7000 series and it has installed W2000. It works very well.

    Hello

Theoretically, you can use a CPU that is supported by the chipset.
As far as I know the laptop supports the Chipset Mobile Intel GM45 Express.
So you can see the Intel Gm45 Mobile Intel properties page and what would the supported processors.

In general CPU upgrade a tricky thing but is stronger CPU produces more heat dissipation and could lead to overheating.
In addition he s not 100% sure that BIOS would support the new processor.

  • USB port high speed - not available on Tecra M1

    Hi all
I joined my new external HARD drive to my Tecra M1 and XP says I use * not *; port USB high speed.
Question: How can I switch to high speed USB port?

    Driver: Intel 82801DB/DBM USB 2.0 Hostcontroller - 24 D of Microsoft Version 6.1.2600.0 issued 1.6.2002

Thanks for the reply in advance.

    See you soon,.
    Tom

First of all, you can't 'upgrade' your internal USB port to a Highspeed USB port. This is NOT possible, but your machine must have at least 2! ports USB 2.0 capable.

I suggest you do the following: download the latest drivers for your machine on Toshiba Driver download site, install and check if the error message appears, anywhere you´re attaching your USB 2.0 device.

Usually one or 2 of these ports should be able to USB 2.0.

If still, you get the same error message then come back and give some comments, then we can discuss more about.

    See you soon

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then

  • Satellite Pro L650 - high speed of CPU fan

    Hello everyone

I have a Satelite L650 computer laptop that worked fine until I updated the BIOS to version 1.90 a few days ago. Now the problem is in the title.

    (1) the fan runs at full speed all the time, no matter what I do, even when nothing works.
    (2) if I switch to power and suspend mode back the laptop, the fan does not work and I get a message in 10 seconds:

    .../\
.. / ! ------Attention: a problem with the cooling system has been detected.
. /------- Please, immediately turn off the computer and return it for service.

And of course, I must stop the laptop and restart it to get the fan turns (whitch would speed max immediately).
I cleaned up the laptop from dust as much as possible, to make sure there is no dust on a sensor, but I can't do a lot outside. I used a 'fan '.
I did not open the laptop to check and clean all the possible dust because I think it would break my warranty policy (not sure about this).

I came across a few posts with people having this problem:
    - either with a new laptop
-or after the update of the BIOS.

According to me, this looks like a problem with this version of BIOS 1.90. I think that there is no way taken in charge by Toshiba to downgrade the BIOS with a lower version. I know that Toshiba Tec can do, but I have no idea what hard/software they use. Are there information on this problem and/or a possible new version of the BIOS? Like many people, if not all, I consider the PRO series as business computers - which can be used in a professional manner and have to shut up.

    Thanks for your comments.

I use Vista and of first instance for temperature - hardware monitoring tool monitor 4.3

This material, monitoring tools of are not give the actual temp. I tried hardware doctor and he said that my Qosmio runs about 120 ° (!), so I Don t it s think supposed to be the

If your FAN is running constantly, perhaps your fan and cooling system are clobbed with dust. Cleaning may be all that would be useful. On the other side, try to adjust the setting in the "toshiba power saver" and try to find the settings that fit for you (performance/silence), because you have a powerful system and then it s normal that your fan is keen.

Hello everyone. I have an ea4500 wireless router, I tested the speed at speedtest.net and wireless, I get around 9 Mbit/s. My speed is 23 MB/s when I hard wired the pc.

I check the speed on a Tablet (), pc and a mac about 5 feet away from the router with no walls or something between the two devices.

I checked all the settings, but I don't see anything wrong, I've changed to N mode just to make sure that I use the top speed.

All my devices are able to use N.

My experience on this is not good and that's why I ask your help, thanks a lot.

Redefine the Mode Wireless on joint. 2.4 GHz settings, change the width of the channel to 20 MHz only and select a specific channel. Recommended channel would be 1, 6 or 11. Download inSSIDer to find out which channel is not too crowded. Follow the link provided by jlbjlb.

Another thing that could affect the wireless connection is the location of the router. Make sure that it is on an open and superior location. Make sure it is not next to a metal object or other device which transmits/receives/frequency of the wireless signal. Also, make sure that it is not too close to your modem.
