Bandwidth limit Upload on EA4500

I have an EA4500 connected to a cable modem.  My ISP is substantially more slow upload speed that download, and found that large downloads (for example, when my PogoPlug device's sync their Cloud Computing service) will saturate the download bandwidth and prevent any internet access.

PogoPlug has been able to provide me with the information I need to put a limit on the bandwidth download they can consume, but I can't find a way to do it in the EA4500 firmware.  I found this thread basically say you cannot do, but it's from 2012.

http://community.Linksys.com/T5/wireless-routers/EA4500-limit-FTP-upload/TD-p/584676

I've seen other threads, which suggests that tweaking the speed of download under settings in the application of the prioritization of media could help, but there is no such parameter (value configurable only here is the bandwidth downstream).  The revision of the firmware is 2.1.41.162351, which, according to the automatic update function is the most recent.

I have seen other information to suggest that this feature may be available through the Cisco Connect desktop application.  I have not installed the application itself yet (there are a few quite severe warnings attached to it), but the screenshots in the KB of the resembeles the normal config UI UI I know of my old Linksys router, which was exactly the functionality I needed.

http://KB.Linksys.com/Linksys/UKP.aspx?pid=101&VW=1&articleid=21445

Did anyone has had any success or throttling upstream of a specific application, or a minimum limit for the entire network avoid saturate the connection and blocks all other access?  Thank you.

Tony

I was able to find the solution to this problem elsewhere.  In response to the bad reviews of the EA4500 (particularly with the upgrade of the firmware Smart WiFi/CloudConnect and the severe deterioration of the functionality it introduced), Cisco posted a link to an article on restore the firmware to connect avant-nuage.

http://KB.Linksys.com/Linksys/UKP.aspx?pid=80&login=1&app=search&VW=1&articleid=25856&donelr=1

The following made me a normal router configuration screen.  QoS parameters were more customizable.  I was able to limit the overall download bandwidth, but also to give my a 'priority' for internet access network storage device.  (The new firmware allows only Normal or high, and setting my laptop high does not stop my regular camera to consume all of the bandwidth).  My camera's sync a large file to the cloud (and it is time to do so) in the background that I write, what I couldn't do half an hour ago.

If you like all or part of the Smart WiFi features, this isn't the solution for you.  But if you can live with a normal router configuration environment, I would recommend this kicking.

  • Limit Upload of Developer Toolbox file size?

I've been frustrated by what seems to be (for me, anyway, I don't want to generalize...) a download limit of 10 MB file for file download server behavior. I use a PHP/MYSQL server model and have increased about 100 MB download limit in all php.ini files. When users use the page to download a file, files less than 10MB download correctly, move in the proper folder, and the correct database entries to do, we all expect. When the file is larger than 10 MB, no error condition is thrown, then the customer thinks everything is bathed in oil. Unfortunately, the file never moved to the correct folder, and no database entries only to facts. It's using the download file server behavior, not the image upload server behavior. In the configuration of the server behavior, I tried to create the download for 5000KB and 500000KB limit, thinking that KB really means bytes in the configuration, but no SOAP.

Am I missing something really simple, like a configuration file that lives in includes it the folder, and if so, what is his name?

    Thank you

Problem solved, with appropriate adjustments in the php.ini file. Thanks to Gunter for the "max_execution_time" trick, then Darrel for the suggestion to limit memory. For now, they seem to do the trick, and we will see what are the reactions of the customer at use of production.

max_execution_time = 300; Maximum runtime of each script, in seconds
max_input_time = 300; Maximum amount of time each script may spend parsing request data
    memory_limit = 128 M; Maximum quantity of memory a script may consume (128 MB)
    upload_max_filesize = 100 M

I downloaded now successfully files also bigger than 90 MB, which is bigger that I expect customers to use about 40 MB.

I'll try this with the multiple file upload behavior of server now, Darrel, who uses Flash or Javascript to manage the download and is not (I assume, anyway) the POST data to the PHP page. This can relieve tweaking other deployments server environment variables.

  • Cisco 1941 hit crypto speed limit

I have read the documentation about the 85Meg / 170 Meg limit on the SRI G2s

As far as I know - this does NOT apply to the 1941.

    I have a 1941 with sec - k9 license, you can not buy a license of h - s for this device.

    "

The SSEC-K9 license removes the reduction applied by the US Government on the encrypted tunnel and encrypted flow export restrictions. SSEC-K9 is available only on the Cisco 2921, 2951 Cisco, Cisco 3925, 3945 Cisco, Cisco 3925th and 3945TH Cisco.

With the SSEC-K9 license, the ISR G2 router can go above the limit of the reduction of the maximum of 225 tunnels for IP (IPsec) security and the flow rate of 85 Mbps of one-way traffic in or out the ISR G2 router encrypted, with a total of 170 Mbps bidirectional / s.

Cisco 1941 and 2901 2911 already have maximum encryption within the limits of export capabilities. The HSEC license requires pre-installed image of the universalk9 and the DRY license. »

I took this means that '1941 and 2901 2911' must go faster than that?  It seems that they are limited to 85Mbit!

MEL-4-TX_BW_LIMIT %: bandwidth limit Maximum Tx 85000 Kbps reached for the cryptographic functionality with technology securityk9 package license.

MEL-4-TX_BW_LIMIT %: bandwidth limit Maximum Tx 85000 Kbps reached for the cryptographic functionality with technology securityk9 package license.

Can anyone confirm if they got more than 85 Mbps out of one of these devices? FYI, I'm not nat'ing nothing - this is purely static device VTI.  Ive sent the packages using iPerf via this device @ 500 + Mbit.

Well, you can communicate with Cisco and talk to them about your concerns about the text of this.  It would probably help others in the future also.

Regarding this site selling the 1941 with license of k9 SSEC, according to me, is either a typo or that they do not know the product.

According to this document the 1941 has the regular permit of K9 SEC available to her.

  • Exceptions to the limits of bandwidth

At MAX in San Francisco, I remember hearing with the permission of Adobe, we could get an exception to the bandwidth limit and the user. How is it difficult to get such an exception?

A bit of history - I am researching different solutions to manage users in a small virtual world avatars could walk in and perform minor actions (jumping, racing, wave, cat, etc.). We are currently seeking around 100 concurrent users. With regard to bandwidth - we don't emit any video or audio. Perhaps using a whiteboard or two. I'm more worried about the limit to the bandwidth by user.

  • Question on NAS200 and large amount of data to him.

    Hi all

I have a Linksys NAS 200 on my home LAN.  It is connected via a 1.1 WRT300N wireless router.  I have my computer connected to the router via a cable (not wireless).  I am running windows XP Media center SP3 on a HP duel core processor computer.

My problem is that I'm trying to move a large number of media to a failed drive on my computer to a drive on the NAS 200.  There are about 1.3 TB of info and when I try to copy in windows Explorer it takes forever and consumes a lot of time my computer CPU.

Are other than copying small amounts of these data over time as 3-5 gb each night there other options?  Maybe a program that works like a web browser download manager?  I'm not too good with FTP solutions, but maybe it would work, but I don't know how to set up.  Could this be something with how I set up my router?  I use my router as my firewall and my computer does not have a firewall.  It has spyware doctor and Ad-Aware of protection running.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Steve

Robocopy has an option to limit the bandwidth network, this will also limit the CPU usage (both on your Windows machine and the NAS).

For others, try Googling "windows copy bandwidth limit" or "copy windows limit UC" (without the quotes).

  • QOS: Basic Questions

    Hello everyone.

I recently read in quality of Service and have been fiddling with it on my Linksys WRT54G Router. But there are a few things that seem to be limiting (at least on this version) and so I have a few questions.

I live in a House with three other roommates all sharing the same internet connection. We don't have a bandwidth limit, so I don't like how they download you. When I want to watch Netflix when they are all over the internet, however, my movies will come in low quality or will be interrupted.

I put in my MAC address and value my high priority under the priority of the device. My first question is, what is the priority of a device that is not at all? There is room for both devices so I can not put all three of my roommates in. I guess that their priority would be automatically the lower.

I wanted to put some common-a high priority ports. So far, I have just the port 53 for DNS is entered with the highest priority, while my computer is set to high. If this means any computer make a DNS request would have a higher priority than my computer making a request not DNS? I would like to as DNS to be a higher priority than me in streaming video.

Finally, there are ports commonly use this streaming video? I know there are ports for Netflix, but I also thought other Flash/HTML5 videos that I could meet. Or they tend to just use port 80?

If there is anything else, do you think I should know for what I'm doing, I'm open to those too.

    Thanks in advance

Because QoS can possibly accelerate a package, basically what it does is to take your total available upstream bandwidth, calculate how many high priority data has, which, in the buffer, then go down the line in priority until it is running out of data to send or the buffer fills. All surplus data are braked or "requeued' at the front of the line, where he will be evaluated in the next pass.

"importance" is determined by the priority of the package. Range of priorities of "Low" or "in bulk" (according to the router), to 'High' or 'Premium '. The number of levels and the exact terminology depends on your router. As the name suggests, packages of priority "down" / "in bulk" get the lowest priority, while the packages ' high ' / ' Premium ' get the highest priority.

If the devices that may not be listed in the QoS settings left will have normal/medium priority.

  • Access Internet comments

    Hello

Looking to pronounce on the subject of comment Vlan.

How can I avoid traffic guess DATA VLAN, VLAN routing all traffic to VLAN comments should be sent directly to the Internet.

You are looking for a similar mounting as Hotels, Guest are provided with name of user and password with internet access time and limit the download speed.

Do I have to create a different SSID on the WLC and how guest users will acquire intellectual property, WLC DHCP or DHCP Windows.

If its Windows DHCP traffic may comment reached my VLAN database

    Any help

    We got WLC 4420 - hear - you a 4402-xx

    Series AP 1200 (quantity 5)

I'm new to WLC, can you help me understand

    • SSID how we can configure on WLC, each ssid can have different config settings.

The AP and the Code you have supports only 8-16.  You do not want to configure too (it's about 4) because of all the tags that must be sent could cause problems with some devices.  You can configure ssid reproduced the same thing different, it is up to you.  Follow best practices on it.

    • can disseminate us the specific SSID access point configured with WLC (AP #1 can be used for the DATA & SSID SSID) (AP #2 may be partners comments & SSID SSID)

You can create WLAN substitute (according to code - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a00807669af.shtml) to specify what AP will be braodcast of this SSID.  This can be annoying if you have gaps for roaming, unless it's not a question.

    • For the SSID is recommended to connect to a port seprate WLC

    You have different options:

    • You can use a controller of comments you anchor DMZ
    • You can use a port on the WLC connected to your internal network and the other port of the DMZ
    • You can trunk VLANS and use ACL to ban all traffic inside networks comments.

It all depends on you the existing infrastructure and if you are planning to buy more material, or use the existing.

    • Instead of create users invited to WLC with time restriction, is third possible with ease of management. (Secretary of the Board can give internet access to the comments)

You can use a comment of the NAC server... If you want to spend a lot of money.  You can configure an Admin of Lobby on the WLC account so that the Secretary has only read/write to add guest accounts.  It would be the same if you have a Toilet with a Hall administrator account.

You must use a third-party tool 3 for this as ZoneCD Alternatively, you can use the comment of the NAC server.

Any link example configuration with an Internet connection with DATA and comments VLAN using the ACL to restrict traffic.

I put a few links above... hope this helps.  Yet once, it will come down to your existing environment and how much you want to spend.  It should also look at the point where he could take the facility, will be the Secretary want to do that, etc.?  How I see the access as a guest... Well... they come out a separate sheath of the internet, so I don't really care about bandwidth.  Its guests so that they would have to deal with than nowhere go, the same hotspost or even worse hotels :)  Keep it simple and make it work... then you can add that later when you get more familiar with the configuration and troubleshooting.

  • speed up your internet connection in Windows 8

I've seen a lot of messages that mention users notice a slow internet connection more after moving to Windows 8 for the wired connections and wireless.

Many of these problems are due to drivers still set up for network cards.  However, there are a little more at stake.  Windows 8 has many built-in features that use internet connection permanently.  Specifically, I am referring to many of the 'live' on Metro user interface applications.  These include things like pulling photos from Facebook, update of headlines and weather updates.  To account for these features Microsoft allows Windows to reserve a percentage of bandwidth for these features.

It is less noticeable on connections faster broadband, but can be significant on slower connections.  Here are some things you can try to speed up the connection.

1 make sure you have the correct driver installed.

HP plans to support most of the laptops purchased after October 1, 2011.  You can check to see if HP has tested your laptop with Windows 8 by visiting this Web site.

Currently, many hardware manufacturers have drivers available.  However, the first step is to check that it is not a specific driver available for your laptop computer network hardware.  You will need to follow the following instructions locate the number for your product.  After your head number product on HP's Support site and see if there are all the drivers available.  If so, install the appropriate driver.  If this is not the case, bookmark the page and check back regularly for updates.

    2. turn off or lower the amount of reserved bandwidth.

As stated previously, Windows 8 automatically reserves a percentage of bandwidth for use with 'live' on Metro user interface applications.  First of all, you want to access the "Run" dialog box... ».  You can do this in the office or the metro by pressing Windows + X key combination and selecting 'run '.  You can type "gpedit.msc" and press ENTER.  On the left side, you will see "Configuration of the computer;" expand this list by clicking the arrow to the left.  Once this section is expanded you can select and expand "Administrative Templates" section, and then expand the "Network" section  Finally, you will see an entry called "QoS Packet" schedular, select this option.   After you select the QoS Packet Scheduler, you will see that the main part of the window has been set.  You will want to select "bookable bandwidth limit.    You can either reduce the percentage that is reserved or turn it off completely from here.  This should help speed up the internet connection.

I hope this information is useful!
