Batteries for Satellite Pro L40
Is it possible to use the 10.8 and 14.4 v battery in Satellite Pro L40-(134?)?
Some sellers on ebay know so. Is this correct?
The manual just know that the two farm exists, but not if I can use both.
According to laptop specifications 4-cell 14.4V battery 2000mAh x can be used.
For compatible batteries part numbers are:
Someone know if Toshiba will release or not win xp power saver driver/utility for satellite pro L40 - 134 notebooks?
Thanks a lot :)
The XP all driver package is already out and the Toshiba power saver does not part of this package. So I guess that Toshiba will not released and other saving electricity!
Hi, the motherboard in my laptop is toast...
Then someone please help me, I don't know where to buy a new motherboard for this computer for...
I'd appreciate any help, pointers in the right direction
Satellite Pro L40
An authorized service provider can quote and replace the motherboard for you. There is a list of ASP on the Toshiba site.
I installed XP on my L40, but there seems to be no XP driver for the sound card. Anyone know of another pilot that could be compatible?
To my knowledge of Satellite Pro L40 supports sound on board.
After a lengthy investigation, it seems that this series is supported by a chip high definition audio Intel HDA (Azalia) ADI AD1986A.
Generally, the Intel Corporation has released XP drivers also on the own site and I think you should be able to download the XP compatible audio driver from the Intel page.
Check this box and look for the chip mentioned above.
I need modem.

To be honest I don t understand your problem.
Do you need a modem or you need a modem driver?
The Sat Pro L40 was equipped with the internal modem and the modem driver can be found on the European driver Toshiba page.
I have a Satellite Pro L40 - 14 d (I think).
My son hit a small stool and he fell on the side of the PCI Express card (which has been inserted).
Needless to say that the pci card no longer works.
I opened it to the top, and it seems that the pins were torn off of the motherboard.
Can it be fixed, I'm not so sure?
Then someone know where I can get my hands on a new motherboard? I've scanned the internet but come in white.
See you soon
This model of laptop is fairly new, and I imagine that it will be difficult to get the new motherboard. Of course, you can order one by authorized service provider, but it will be expensive.
Have you checked eBay? With a little luck, you'll find a L40 with faulty display or any other hardware problem. Maybe using two defective notebooks, you can have one that works correctly. ;)
By the way: I assume you want to disassemble without maintenance manuals. Be careful!
Ive got someone other Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 attempt to fix, it got a virus, and the best way to solve this problem is to do a factory reset, so I copied all the personal files on DVD and went to do a factory reset, but told me that I need the discs...
But apparently, this laptop was given as a replacement by an insurance company, and no records were provided, then how to to get the disks?
Not sure if you will be able to order this disc from this page:
Sometimes these disks cannot be ordered if the notebook series would be dropped.
In any case, check out the page and try
It may be possible to order this disc
I installed Vista on this laptop, but get drivers because it is really hard. Download speed of [HERE | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=SUPPORT_PORTAL] is very slow. Is there another way to get the drivers for Vista?
Thaks you for the answer.
To my knowledge, you can download the driver for this Toshiba laptop European only Vista on the European site of Toshiba.
Download speed seems to be slow. I think that the server is overloaded and I hope that this problem will be solved in the next time.
My L40 needs a new keyboard. Can someone be kind enough to advise those who will be compatible with this?
I ask, as the last one I acquired did not even if it was listed as a keyboard for Satellite Pro L40. There were two studs raised who would keep forcing the keyboard out latches. My original keyboard didn't they.
The reference on the original keyboard number is 04GNQA1KUK00 - 2 TB. It's a Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 - PSL4BE-00M005EN.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Wait a boyfriend of the moment! You have the original piece for the right keyboard number and now you need some info on compatible keyboard?
Sorry, but you have the info you need. I don't know where you live (assume UK) but use Google and find an electronic store where you can order absolutely the same keyboard and everything will be fine.
Perhaps this page can help - http://www.keyboardweb.co.uk/k115.htm
I have a Satellite Pro L40 PSL4BE and have just upgraded to Windows 7. Since the upgrade I can no longer use the function key and the top and down arrows to control the volume. Keys F6 F7 & still control the brightness so I don't know the function key still works.
Anyone know if it is a driver problem or nobody knows how to solve this problem?
You need to install the package of value added for Satellite Pro L40. This package contains all the necessary drivers for the FN keys. Then please install or update VAP if you have already installed an earlier version.
Here you can download: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers
Can you confirm that FN keys work with installed VAP?
I'm trying to update my BIOS version 2.00 - WIN for Satellite Pro L40 PSL4BE.
My OS is Vista 64 bit.
I downloaded the file and run the .exe but nothing happens.
I also tried to copy the files on a diskette and start with a floppy disk, however, I get an error message saying to remove the diskette in the drive on startup. Any help please?
First update the BIOS for Satellite Pro L40 is based on Windows it of possible to update in DOS mode.
Also, I checked the Web from Toshiba site and I can only find a BIOS for Windows XP and Windows Vista 32-bit.
It seems that the update of the BIOS is not supported for Vista 64-bit.
If you want to update, you need to change to 32 bit Vista or XP. Then you can update the BIOS.
Don t forget this version 2.00 - WIN is for Vista 32 bit and 5.50 - WIN XP.
Got a Satellite Pro L40 PSl43E computer laptop and you want to grade the memory to 2 GB.
But I can't seem to find this model on any other site where I might be able to buy parts for this update!
Any help please!
Satellite Pro L40 can be upgraded to 2GB maximum.
You need DDR2-400 / RAM DDR2-533 200pin with.
I put t know where you can buy in your country but you can also buy from an ASP (authorized service provider).
Here you can find one:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported downloads & => find an ASP.
Bought the PSL43E model Toshiba Satellite Pro L40, configured with Vista. Our Application does not work on Vista, had to downgrade to XP Pro. Impossible to find suitable Sound Driver for XP Pro. Any suggestions?
I think that the laptop must support the audio chip high-definition Intel HDA (Azalia) ADI AD1986A.
Check Intel page for the compatible driver or you would use the audio driver for the * series Satellite L40 PSL40E * or * series Equium L40 PSL41E *.
Hi, I just bought a Satellite Pro L40 laptop and im trying to figure out why the bios has no parameter memory.
If I look at the ram using a tool of information system (cpuz or aida320), it shows she doesn't move at the speed of 667 mhz but at 533 mhz.
As you can see from this screenshot the memory runs at the real speed is less than the maximum that the sticks have a rated power.
Its running at 266 mhz (533 mhz ddr) where it should be run at 333 mhz (667 mhz ddr).
I also noticed that with this laptop fan never seems to come, is it possible to mount the fan?
Whenever I have the laptop for more than 30 minutes, it becomes very hot.
> if I look at the ram using a tool of information system (cpuz or aida320) it shows that it does not run at the speed of 667 mhz but at 533 mhz.
What is your FSB?
If the laptop was equipped with memory PC2-5300 modules then they could run at 667 MHz, but only if the FSB would supports 667 MHz! I think is supported by the FSB of 533 Mhz.
So I can't say it s nothing wrong!
> I just bought a Satellite Pro L40 laptop and im trying to figure out why the bios has no parameter memory.
Why do you think a BIOS update would turn the memory settings in the BIOS?
Please don t mix of desktop computers laptops! Laptops cannot be overclocked.
BIOS of laptop computers is not the same thing as a desktop PC BIOS!
> I also noticed that with this computer laptop fan never seems to come, is there a way to turn the fan to the top? Whenever I have the laptop for more than 30 minutes, it becomes very hot.
Have you noticed all automatically turn off downs or any other strange behaviors laptop as freezing OS for example?
If it is then that the laptop runs correctly and doesn't overheat.
Books to support thermal protection which would be closed the laptop automatically to avoid equipment damage
Then lean back man and enjoy your nice toy ;)
PS: you are fan of Carlos Santana? ;) I ask through your nickname ;)
Need Bios Update for Windows XP to my laptop Satellite Pro L40 PSL43E
It seems that the BIOS and other XP drivers for this laptop series don t exist on the European driver Toshiba page. Maybe later I would recommend visiting the page from time to time to check if the XP drivers and utilities have been released
