battery on motherboard

I noticed that attached to my motherboard in my HP compac, there is a button battery.  The death of this battery would cause my computer lights do not?  And how often should I replace?

Hello

In this case, my best advice would be to have a repair shop to look at the PC first just to make sure that the fault is with the power supply.

Kind regards

    Hello

I have a Satellite X 200 for 2.5 years now, and now that my I just noticed that my battery will also charge the driving battery is not on. I turned off the computer and opened it again and I noticed the battery led turns on for like 3 seconds then goes back again.
Is this a vista problem, a problem of battery or motherboard?

Because with the ca on the laptop works very well. Any ideas how to make sure that if it a battery issue?

    Thank you

    Hi blackmodjo,

What happens if you connect the AC/DC adapter, while the laptop is turned off? The battery will be charged or not?

If this isn't the case, it seems to be a malfunction of the battery. It s already 2.5 years that you wrote and the battery can be charged only up to 500 times. After that, it must be replaced.

New battery should t be so expensive. Just ask a service provider allowed in your country, and guys will help you to get a new one.

  • Satellite Pro A120 - battery not found

    Hello

Technical details: I have a Satellite Pro A120, purchased about four years, running MS Vista. A year ago I noticed my battery has been virtually exhausted and bought a new battery (this one, to be exact: [http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0028NJAL2]). Since last year it worked very well and I have no reason to suspect that the battery itself might have a problem. Most of the time, I have the laptop plugged in, in any case.

However, recently (last few weeks, I think) I started to have occasional problems when all of a sudden I am notified that the battery can not be found - or rather, there is no actual notification, but the power icon in the changes of system tray with a small red on it X, and then the computer hangs. The touchpad still works and I can move the pointer on the screen, but absolutely nothing else says and there is no way out next to a hard reboot. Sometimes, if I catch the icon change from time to time and unplug the power cord (force the computer running on battery), it actually corrects issues. Not always, though.

Attempts to seek similar problem descriptions online were not very useful; most of the time, the description does not exactly fit my situation or the Seraph blames the battery or the operating system (which, in my case, to be as the wrong answers, since I said the battery generally works well, and I had the same OS from the start). Also a search of these forums did not have no useful result. I'll call my go - to computer store and see if their engineers have all the answers or if it's just the time to take the old horse pasture and find a new filly, but thought that perhaps the good people on this forum may be able to offer advice (additional).

    Thanks in advance,
    Yael

I think that no one will be able to tell what's wrong exactly; I think it is s battery issue but of course, no one can say it it s battery maybe motherboard or just a software problem. OPERATING SYSTEM.

Usually, the software should not affect the functionality of the battery and I think that it s more material associated.
The laptop is a little old and the battery seems to be old too so I think that the battery needs to be checked first

  • NB520 battery charge very quickly

    Hello

My NB520 has recently developed a problem.
It was working fine and I loaded up to 99% then I removed the charger, a message will appear saying: "0:05 remaining capacity (99%)", then"computer suspended soon unless it is plugged".

So even if it's to save the load 99% it think only remaining operating time 5 minutes ago.
What is a battery or motherboard problem?

    Thank you

    Hello

For me, it looks like a malfunction of the battery, you may try to calibrate the battery several times to improve performance, but not quite sure it would be useful in this case

To calibrate the battery discharge battery until it is completely empty. Then load it again until the battery indicator would turn toward blue or green (it depends on model you have).

If it would not help, I would advise new battery of tests.

  • Satellite A200 is not charging the battery

    Hello everyone!

I apologize for my English; It is not the main language.
Somehow that I can take my Satellite A200 and Assembly are not correctly open the cable (don't know what the cable, apparently the power of the screen), it has been between the keyboard and the top panel, but I forgot and put it between the motherboard and the top panel and... when all assembled and understood that most of the burned... cables precisely burned coil... cord I immediately pulled out but the battery remained in it... in general not very well turned out ;)))

As a result of what it led to: first is sometimes not visible when you move the keyboard and the touchpad... to eliminate the need to restart the car... then, in principle, sometimes a laptop is not included, i.e. of tanning power of the lamp and all... in this case to remove the worst... and finally, power cable the battery is more responsible... i.e. After all this, I discharge the battery and now the laptop only works on the power cable.

Question: is the problem of battery or motherboard?

Your English is hard to understand, but it seems that you disassembled the laptop and some cables connected in the wrong way.
Then something is charred and now you have some problems with the battery, etc.

I think that there is a hardware problem, who knows what you did in the past
The fact is that you did something wrong... it is always a risk if someone without a technician experience disassemble the laptop.

In your case, I recommend you contact someone who knows how to check the hardware specifications, you need professional help

  • Unknown battery - not charging on Satellite P300D-11U

    HI -.

    I have a Satellite P300D-11U

I have now bought 3 xtra different batteries. None of them will work - labtop doesn't recogninze any of them.
Only the original supplied with the computer. When activated, it says Remaning time battery unknown / undetermined
If I plug the power supply cord, it is said:
No battery found, no charging current.

Each shop/manufactor said it is a BIOS problem. That the BIOS cannot communicate with the battery.
I installed the latest version of BIOS on 20 August 2008, no change - still the same.

Is there a new current BIOS, or other solutions?

    Sincerely, Bryan

Hmmm I have a U400 and the battery has been recognized after the BIOS update.
Maybe it s not a BIOS issue but simply your battery or motherboard is not allowed.

    The warranty is valid?
If Yes, you shouldn't t waste time and should contact the ASP in your country for a control of the laptop. The guarantee must cover everything!

    Good luck

  • Satellite C650 problem battery charge.

    Hello

I have a problem with my charge battery.
Windows system sees the battery and shows that the power supply is connected, but it also gives the message that the battery is not supported.

Led indicating that the battery is charging does not illuminate. In order to charge my battery I have to disable notebook, unplugged my power supply, remove the battery and place it again once and after that my battery is being charged.

My question is what is the problem?
Would be - this defect battery or motherboard?

    Thanks for your help
    SzAkaL

    > My question is what is the problem?
    > Could it be the battery or the failure of the motherboard?

Hard to say. First of all I recommend you check the version of the BIOS.
Do not forget that your BIOS is up to date.

But have you noticed this problem since the first day of use?
Theoretically, the battery must be detected even if the battery is dead so I m wondering why the battery led is not ON. If the battery could be charged, the indicator must light up orange. If the battery is fully charged, the indicator should switch to blue.

In any case, I think that you cannot run a few test because you don t have important and necessary tools, I think that the new battery should be tested with Notepad and if this would not solve the problem, the motherboard must be tested also.

  • Satellite P10 switch randomly between battery and AC

I have a satellite P10 who had some problems of strange power for about a year now.

My laptop switch to the power of the battery even when it is plugged. I will then either use the computer until the battery runs out and turned it off or Hibernate in until the battery may charge.

I thought that I had fixed by downloading and installing a new Bios from the toshiba site, which seemed to work for a while, but now it the problem seems to have returned.

I also bought a new battery and the bar of power, thinking that was the problem... but it does not solve the problem.

Someone else out there with similar problems, or a method to solve this?
    any thoughts would be great.

    Hi man,

I had similar problems with my machine, so you can check some things:

-When the CA is connected, then move him soft in all directions, there are maybe a few micro cracks on the AC connector.
-try to boot your machine without the battery, your motherboard charging system is may be defective
-Discover an another AC adapter, maybe the CA is defective

If you encounter some strange phenomena as power cuts or no charge while you perform this action above, then you have definitely a hardware problem and you will need to contact your local dealer or the service partner for the other instance.

So I had to do, and it's a faulty motherboard.

Hope I could give you some ideas.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite P15 - if the plug comes out, the battery stops charging

My Toshiba is rather annoying. I hope there is a solution to this and it is not integrated in the computer by braindead materials developers.

My battery is toast. For a long time. I find the computer works very well if the power cable is in. If she comes out, the battery has usually about a minute and a half of her life. However, what makes me shit off the coast, it is that the battery does not load again. He will sit and drain his power to zero, even with cable connected sector, if the plug is disconnected even for a millisecond. The only way to load it again, is to shut off the computer and start upward.

    What the hell?

    Hi floydien,

Wow, Satellite P15 is really an oldie.

I m not an expert, but to me this looks like a battery or motherboard problem. A battery can be recharged about 500 times and after that it will lose a lot of power. This means that you can work a few minutes only on battery mode.

In your case, I'll try a new battery. If it doesn t work I think you need a new mainboard.
Also take a look on eBay. There you can get second hand cheap parts sometimes.

  • No battery detected on Satellite U400?

Ive just bought a new Satellite U400 and ive charged for hours and when I leave the power cable it shuts off and only turns on when it is plugged in to the charger. and says on the toolbar at the bottom of the battery is not detected.not sure what to do?

Put the laptop to a service center authorized to repair. It sounds like the battery or motherboard may have a problem.

  • Second battery broken

    Hello

    I had my W530 9 months. I use the battery 9 cells.

In may 2013 battery stops working. The Power Manager info is that "an error battery, the battery cannot be charged. Replace the battery.

I called the company where I got the Thinkpad and they just to send me a new battery free of charge. Large.

A few days ago my new battery stops working correctly. I used the computer on battery when it just went into hibernation. When I started it again with the fixed supply cord he had 2% battery left and before it went into hibernation it was about 40%. I checked in power manager and found that the battery had a capacity of about 60 Wh full load, it used about 90 Wh and a new battery is of approximately 93 Wh. I did reset battery meter, but the problem persists.

For the last two days, he has been working well but when I turned it on this afternoon I got the message "battery error has occurred" once again.

I thought that if there is something I can do myself to avoid battery or if I was just unlucky with 2 different batteries. I guess I'll call the company again and they will send me a new battery.

PIC is the screenshot of the power manager.

  • portable computer does not support. Yet battery monitor says "plugged in, not support.» What are some options?

my laptop is connected, and yet power monitor says "plugged in, does not support." What are some solutions?

    Hi Joseph,.

Something similar just happened to me. The first time they fixed it, they have replaced the adapter and the problem is solved. 5 months later it started to happen again and this time they replaced the battery, the motherboard and the milling table (thanks to heaven, it is still under warranty). Fortunately, thanks to the new adapters, battery started to load and the experience does not seem to damage it in any way (but you should keep your eyes on it anyway just in case).

How they were able to say on my laptop - a Dell E1705 (other than just experience and common sense) was to go into the BIOS (starts, it should be a brief Flash on the screen telling you how to enter the BIOS setup or menu of the BIOS (usually F2) and check the battery information. He showed that the power adapter 'unidentified' instead "90W" list which should be when it is working properly and that the battery was not complete and not charging well plugged. They changed the motherboard and the roll the second time because it could also cause the adapter is not being recognized by the battery (or battery not not recognize the adapter).

The beep is caused by power and its configured settings to warn you of a low and critical battery condition. In a normal situation, the computer will work right next to the power adapter and does not the battery (it is a way to help maintain the battery life is to run periodically and refill if we leave normally plugged in most of the time). If you remove the batttery entirely, the laptop will power? If this isn't the case, it is certainly at least the adapter or the motherboard. Eventually the battery will get if low, that he's going to sleep or hibernation, or the system stops (you should shut down normally before him to cold shutdown like that). If If, then I expect the tone to go further because it will detect is no longer a low battery charge, because there is no battery - but then you'll want to be sure to use either a battery backup UPS, or at least a surge protector otherwise already in place because if you lose the laptop battery will crash hard and this is not good for her.

I'm using 32 bit Vista Business SP2 and in Control Panel / sounds / Sounds there is an option for low battery alert. The default to have this. In this case, you can turn off to avoid the beep. In addition, you can go into Control Panel / Power Options, click the plan settings and click on battery. It will provide you with levels of low battery and critical battery and you provide measures to be taken in such a case. If you are unable to operate the system without battery and it is so weak that the alerts began, you probably fell to 11-5% remaining. You can adjust actions to nothing for bass and stop to criticism that 5% is about as close as you want to get to the point where you can hang. Then, you just need to wait until it is repaired and the appropriate parts are replaced.

Even if you have still some life in it, it is best to contact the manufacturer (they the some have the right parts) or a computer of reputable workshop to get a good diagnosis (perhaps by phone at first), a determination of what must be fixed, the applicable fees, schedule, if it is still under any kind of warranty , and what needs to be done in which order of repair. They can find the adapter is OK and it is just the battery (or vice-versa or two or more). But that's essentially where you need start.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    Hi @tldr60,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion laptop x 360 PC and problems with the battery. I recommend to restore the default BIOS settings. You could restore the BIOS with this document by selecting the reload the default BIOS settings.

Here is something you can try:

Step 1. Go to the Device Manager
    Step 2. Select the stacks
Step 3. Click with the right button on the "Microsoft compatible battery ACPI Control method" which is in the list
    Step 4. Click on uninstall
Step 5. At the command prompt, put a checkmark in the box to remove the current driver
Step 6. Shut down the computer
Step 7. Installation of back in the stack.
Step 8. Go to the Device Manager
    Step 9. Select the stacks
Step 10. Click with the right button on the "Microsoft compatible battery ACPI Control method" which is in the list
Step 11. Click "automatically search for an updated driver.

I hope this helps you. You can do a System Restore. System Restore will help if something is automatically updated and wasn't on the laptop. I recommend adding 2 or 3 days before, it happened.

When running a system restore note remove all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices because they can cause problems.

Please let me know how it goes.

By clicking on the Thumbs Up below, you can say thank you! .

    Thank you.
