Bay of mSATA Envy 15

I'm hoping to buy a HP Envy 15 j102sa
I want to ride an mSATA SSD and HDD
1. this model has a Bay free mSATA?
2. is it possible to start with the SSD drive and it will take a HARD drive boot loader?

Thank you very much.

I understand that getting the machine to boot from this drive and to recognize is that the basic motivation is hard work, because it's not what HP originally planned... God knows why. Someone missed their prospective pill the day strategy was decided :-)

I see on the web that perseverance was rewarded with two methods, so I'll have to be patient and attentive.

Thanks again.

    Thank you

Indeed, this laptop has a port of mSATA available and easily accessible.

Mine came without any player mSATA, used an m4 crucial 128 GB disk and works flawless

Also, as expected, the mSATA works in SATA 3.

    Hello world

I just ordered refubrished HP ENVY dv6-7214nr, and I would like to know if I can be able to install the player mSata on this model. If so, the maximum size is 32 GB or more?

Thank you for all the answers!

    Finally two questions:

    (1) 32 GB is the maximum or can I install 128 GB?

    (2) mSATA can be matched with a hybrid hard drive? If not, why?

    Thank you once again

    (1) the module 32 GB is listed as compatible, but a 128 GB you might work too (I guess).

    (2) mean you use both at the same time? I don't know, but I would not do anyway. The mSATA is probably more slow (SATA II) as a pure SATA III SSD as Corsair Force GT or 840 Samsung but a 128 GB mSATA more a disk of 1 TB HARD pure isn't a bad configuration at all.

  • Bays for HP envy 14

    Hello

How many bays are there for HP envy 14. Is there room for 2 hard drives? Intend to replace SSDS.

There are 109 different models of Envy14 everywhere in the world, far as I can tell there is only 1 HDD Bay.

    Example:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02697512

No mention of the secondary Bay

In addition, if you set one on the HP website you are never given the choice of a second hard drive.

I was thinking of buying an Acer XC605, but wanted to add an SSD or a secondary hard drive. Is this possible given the small size of the case?

I don't think you can. I don't see a second HDD Bay or msata port on the card.

  • The HP Envy 17 line t there 2-Bay SATA or SATA 1 and mSATA?

The line has Envy 17 t 2 drive bays?  If so, is it 2-Bay SATA or 1 SATA and 1 mSATA? In addition, on the hardware selection screen:

If I choose this option, you guys at HP will install Windows on the SSD, instead of on the hard drive?  I found 256GB SSD which is much cheaper than $295, but I searched and found that HP has apparently put a restriction on the BIOS that prevents you from booting from an internal hard drive that you have added.

EDIT: Maybe I could also get the 256 GB SSD and add my own hard drive.  But I still need to know if she has 2 SATA or 1 SATA and 1 mSATA.

  • 15 - j104el - envy that I found an empty bay... mSATA?

    Hello

    I'm new to the forum.

    Data sheet:http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04089360

    Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03943414.pdf

You have 12 GB of RAM loaded.

    Through 5, 24, 43, 46-48 page in the manual.

slot mSATA, up to 24 GB mSATA SSD is tested by HP, BUT it serves as a player cache instead of the boot drive. Also I don't think that 24Go would be sufficient for this. And with 12 GB or more of RAM, mSATA SSD cache can be set.

You can replace the HDD with SSD. You can see in the manual - 256 & 512 GB SSD had already been tested on your model. It can be used as boot drive to SSD HARD drive cloning. 7mm & 9.5 mm thickness are supported - there is no need a spacer in this case, screw in the support of SSD hard drive & connect to the SATA port.

  • ENVY Touchsmart series of J000 15 (J001TX) optional mSATA slot for installation of Windows?

    I wanted to ask you

    1. the question of if we can install a drive 60-120 GB mSATA in mSATA slot and use it as the place of installation of Windows? It would be like having a configuration double hard drive if windows is installed on the mSATA and the 5400 RPM HARD drive is formatted? I know that this could affect the warranty but I'm curious.

    2. also is all models of car mSATA in black list/white list by HP?

    3. when we install a mSATA drive in the Bay, this affect RAM max can we use?

    4. What is the size of the mSATA player who would fit into the available slot?

    5. is the slot mSATA SATA II or SATA III interface?

    Hello

Q1: Yes, you can install Windows on a module mSATA on this laptop...

    http://Forum.NotebookReview.com/HP-envy-HDX/729085-envy-15T-J000-mSATA-SSD-HDD-fresh-install-mSATA-boot-drive.html

I recommend to remove the hard drive if the how does not say that. MSATA module is compatible, so I do not think that this will affect the warranty.

Q2: Difficult to answer this one, but some guy already confirmed that Samsung PM830 256 GB drives to work with this series. Other models also work, just search this forum...

Q3: The mSATA can be used as cache or a boot disk. If it will be useful to cache it will not work with 12 GB or more according to the manual of the laptop series. If it will be used as boot drive should not be a limitation, so you can use the max 16 GB or so.

Q4: mSATA is a format standard/interface/so any mSATA SSD must correspond to the slot, the capacity is not serious.

Q5: As I said mSATA is an interface (slot), SATA II or III (speed) is a matter of the chip on the motherboard. This is the case even as the typical SATA connection. Connectors and slots are the same, but the speed is founded by the chipset...

  • HP Envy 17 t-3000 (CTO) WSSD Msata update

    Currently have a HP Envy 17 t - 3000 CTO.

Watching the Maint. & Repair and it lists a part for an msata WSSD.

Someone knows if my model Envy or product LW900AV will accept a WSSD msata in car?

If Yes, what is the maximum currently available as it shows 128G, but it is about ~ 2 years in the manual?

It's a cache instead of a player mSata drive?

I would put the OS Win7 on WSSD msata disc?

What is the advantage that I currently have a 750 GB 7200 RPM HARD drive?

I have a slot for additional HARD drive where I can add. a second HARD drive, soon.

I know I can add a SATA drive and then move the original HARD drive in the Bay as 2d storage disk.

So I wonder msata drive for the HP Envy 17 WSSD t-3000 just will act as a cache drive to start the system and function of General conduct faster?

    Thank you!

In fact, I wanted to point 24, pg 19 for mSata Drive.

It looks like she can accept up to 128 GB only.

After market research shows that it is still relatively expensive.

Don't bother buying one for one SSD drive is similar but provides more storage!

    Thank you!

  • HP Envy Touchsmart 15-j181na SSD Bay

    Hello

    I have a HP Touchsmart Envy 15 - j181na with 1 TB SSHD, Intel i7 [email protected], 12.0 GB Dual Channel DDR3 @ 798 MHz.

Inside the cover of the matinence, there is an empty Bay SSD in which I want to install an SSD. After reading several articles online and the visualization of the maintenance and Service guide, I'm a bit confused.

    A. the SSD takes mSATA rather than standard SATA?

    B. in the maintenance and Service Guide lists a 24 GB drive as an option for the installation, is the only disk capacity that I can install or I can choose any title I want?

    Thank you

Yes the single SSD, you can add is an mSATA. There is no space to add a second SATA SSD to 2.5 inches. The only practical thing you can do with the WSSD is used as a cache of acceleration drive using the Intel Rapid Storage console. This is why the manual speaks only of a 24 GB module. Add a WSSD in a system that did not come with one initially is not an easy task. It's even harder to try to make the boot drive. BIOS will not actually be a boot drive, but you can put a bootloader on the main drive and cheat the system by running the operating system on the WSSD but it's like a Bachelor's degree in computer engineering to operate.

  • HP ENVY 15 notebook PC TS: mSATA SSD compatibility

Hello!  I was wondering if my laptop is mSATA compatible III for my mSATA SSD slot

I am installing a new mSATA and the manual says (page5) laptop computer supports up to 24 G only, so does this mean I can't add more than 24 G?

is there any recommendation for what mSATA module which can I buy?

My product name: laptop HP ENVY 15 TS

    My product number: J1Y24EA #ABU

Any help will be very appreciated!  Thank you!

Hello! Well here's how it goes

The mSATA Slot is only used for as acceleration for A HDD Cache for better system Performance for anything else however you could reformat it for storage if you want, but 24GO is not that much

If you want to upgrade to an SSD to replace your HARD drive you buy a SSD SATA 2.5 inch

Who will go in place of your HARD drive in the Bay to start the computer and plug in the SATA cable

Now to start until the new drive, you must reformat so you have to make or buy a HP recovery for your computer media

Here is a link on how to do recovery HP Media
