FOR MONTHS, ALL THE UPDATES FOR MICROSOFT OFFICE 2007 AND UDATES DO NOT HAVE WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM?
Hi Mike,.
· Have you a fault code for updates failed?
· You are able to install some other updates except updates of Microsoft Office security?
As Palcouk suggested, you can check the error code in the Windows Update site.
1. open Windows Update by clicking the Start button, all programs and then click Windows Update.
2. in the left pane, click view update history.
3. find updates for Windows that have failed to install. Updates that have failed to install will display failed under the status column. Make note of the name of the failure to update, and then double-click the update to view more information.
4. in the Windows Update dialog box, next to the details of the error, review the error code for the update has failed.
5. post back the exact error code.
(A) in addition, make sure that the following services are started.
1. click on Start, type services.msc, press ENTER, and then click Services.
2. double-click on this service:
· Windows Update service.
· Encryption services.
· Background intelligent transfer service.
3. click on the general tab, verify that the service has not been disabled in the Startup Type box. If Yes, click Automatic to start when you start the computer.
(B) download the update manually from the Microsoft Download center.
http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx
(C) prior to installing updates perform the clean boot. Clean boot will start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs and help to eliminate software conflicts.
The following link has steps showing how to perform the clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
(1) perform the clean boot (check the link to perform the clean boot).
(2) enable half the services.
(3) determine if the problem comes back.
(4) enable half of the startup items.
(5) determine if the problem comes back.
(6) repeat the steps above until you find out which program or service is causing the issue
Note: Please make sure that the computer is configured to start as usual according to step 7 of the article: how to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.

I try to install the update of security for Microsoft Office System 2007 (KB972581), but if failed and I get the error code Code 57A
I have install the 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2I bet that if you check the size of the file that has been downloaded it will be probably very small, indicating that it was not downloaded correctly.
I don't think you have another computer at hand, or a friend with a USB key which may be able to download and copy it for you? Maybe burn it to a CD or something.
I could download it and save it to my desktop so I am confident that it is not a problem with the link itself or the file is available for download with success.
I know this isn't a very good suggestion, but the only other option would be to challenge support and see if a technician can take control of your machine and see if they can solve the problem of internet explore.

I bought a laptop with Windows 7 in November already on this subject. I did updates since then without any problems until a few months ago, I tried to download the update of security for Microsoft Office System 2007 (KB972581). I get the error message Code 80070663, Windows update encountered an unknown error. I'd appreciate any help that anyone can give me. All other updates seem to work and I even checked to make sure I downloaded the SP1 and SP2. Still will not work.
smitymann,
First, can you look in your update history and check that it did not install successfully at some point and is all offered several times? You can start by performing a clean boot your computer, and then try to install the update. If this does not work, perform a repair of Office , and then run the update. Post back with the results.Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

http://support.Microsoft.com/?ln=en-usOK... I had the same problem with the download of the 2007 Microsoft security updates. When I tried to install updates, I receive error 646. I finally solved my problem by going to the Download Center on Microsoft and I install manually.
Here are the steps that I took... which I think should work:
(1) go to the Microsoft Download Center: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx
(2) look for each update code that begins with the letters "KB" and followed by a set of numbers (i.e. KB974234)
3) click on the link for the download and then click on download and run. I think you have to accept an agreement, then click on continue or OK
4) repeat for all downloads that you can not install
(5) run Microsoft Update new and click search the updates and if updates have been installed successfully, they should no longer appear in the updates that must be installed.I don't know if it is not relevant or if it helped me succeed to install updates manually, but before I manually installed my updates I followed the instructions David_O posted here http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/f3390e74-9961-4aae-8a05-554c1a9cf1a2 . I suggest that first of all try to download manually by following my directions. If it does not, then it's a possibility instructions of David resolved an issue that allowed me to download them manually disable Microsoft downloads site.
I can't believe all the research and the suggestions of the technicians did not work... sometimes your own research is the best!
I hope this helps! Good luck!

You should consider any named Update security update for... do a "critical update" that you want to install as soon as POSSIBLE.
You don't want to hide any update of security!
If it is not a security update, you should get Office 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed as soon as POSSIBLE. (Believe me).
If you don't have a disk for Office 2007, skip this trick and do one or more of the other.

I get an error code of 646, even though I turned off my firewall Spysweeper both my Windows Firewall. Not only that, but before when I could install the updates, my computer would freeze. Is this normal and is there a solution? I have asked other groups and different people said different things. Some people claim it was my registry that was causing problems, and others have said that I should not "clean" my registry at all - it would cause more problems. I used two cleaners registry - RegCure and CCleaner. They helped with freezing problems, but not with the error 646.
