  I bet that if you check the size of the file that has been downloaded it will be probably very small, indicating that it was not downloaded correctly.

  I don't think you have another computer at hand, or a friend with a USB key which may be able to download and copy it for you?  Maybe burn it to a CD or something.

  I could download it and save it to my desktop so I am confident that it is not a problem with the link itself or the file is available for download with success.

  I know this isn't a very good suggestion, but the only other option would be to challenge support and see if a technician can take control of your machine and see if they can solve the problem of internet explore.

  I bought a laptop with Windows 7 in November already on this subject.  I did updates since then without any problems until a few months ago, I tried to download the update of security for Microsoft Office System 2007 (KB972581).  I get the error message Code 80070663, Windows update encountered an unknown error.  I'd appreciate any help that anyone can give me.  All other updates seem to work and I even checked to make sure I downloaded the SP1 and SP2.  Still will not work.

  First, can you look in your update history and check that it did not install successfully at some point and is all offered several times?  You can start by performing a clean boot your computer, and then try to install the update.  If this does not work, perform a repair of Office , and then run the update. Post back with the results.

  OK... I had the same problem with the download of the 2007 Microsoft security updates. When I tried to install updates, I receive error 646. I finally solved my problem by going to the Download Center on Microsoft and I install manually.

  Here are the steps that I took... which I think should work:

  (1) go to the Microsoft Download Center: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx
  (2) look for each update code that begins with the letters "KB" and followed by a set of numbers (i.e. KB974234)
  3) click on the link for the download and then click on download and run. I think you have to accept an agreement, then click on continue or OK
  4) repeat for all downloads that you can not install
  (5) run Microsoft Update new and click search the updates and if updates have been installed successfully, they should no longer appear in the updates that must be installed.

  I don't know if it is not relevant or if it helped me succeed to install updates manually, but before I manually installed my updates I followed the instructions David_O posted here http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/f3390e74-9961-4aae-8a05-554c1a9cf1a2 . • (Vista) Updates for Microsoft Office has failed: Error Code 646

  Hello

  I tried several times to download and install the automatic updates of Microsoft Office 2007, however, they have failed repeatedly to install.  When this happens, I get error Code 646  Microsoft Office Publisher 2003, which is no longer on my computer, is offered several times for me.  I would appreciate your comments on this issue. • Windows updates not moved

  I get an error code of 646, even though I turned off my firewall Spysweeper both my Windows Firewall.  Not only that, but before when I could install the updates, my computer would freeze.  Is this normal and is there a solution?  I have asked other groups and different people said different things.  Some people claim it was my registry that was causing problems, and others have said that I should not "clean" my registry at all - it would cause more problems.  I used two cleaners registry - RegCure and CCleaner.  They helped with freezing problems, but not with the error 646.

  I have to 87.9 GB of free space on my Toshiba Satellite L305-S5955.  I have Microsoft Office Word 2007.  'Important' updates that I need to install are as follows:
