Being not recognized in dimension 8400 DVD drive

Hi all

I have a problem with my DVD drive in my dimension 8400 (about 3 years)

I can open the DVD player and insert DVD/CD but they are not recognized,

My computer is not present DVD player, there is no CD/DVD players present also in the management of devices.

I think the DVD player I have is the Philips DVD 8601 HH 16 x DVD + RW,

I had a similar problem about 1 year ago, but that has been fixed by updating the firmware/drivers. (although the DVD player doesn't "disappear" from my computer, it comes to refuse to play the disc at the time)

Im not a computer newbie, so I tried several things to try to make it work:

http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.ID=dim_cdrom&message.ID=138730&query.ID=270189#M138730 I did steps 1-3 and 5, and nothing has worked.

Someone at - recommended step 4 too? Question about step 4: you have to clear the CMOS chip memory AND reset the default settings of the BIOS Setup? It was not clear from the guide on this forum.

I tried to download the updates of the Firmware, but when I tried to update it says "Device not found", logic, because the device is not - where on my computer.

That's my problem.

Thank you very much if anyone can help me

Perhaps the DVD player is just broken and I need to get a new one, but the fact that I can open and close the lid and the light Burns gives me hope that its stil alive: P

  • Can not detect a CD or DVD drive

I got my dell dimension 3000, a few years ago. My roommate about it and started to download a lot of who knows what. Thus, he got a virus. I cleaned up and then one day my DVD player no longer works. My CD drive still worked at this point in time. So last year, I bought a new DVD player to install in it. I then open it and pull my old one. And do what you know. Now it cannot detect my CD player either. And my new DVD is just as useless. So I put in the old DVD player, thinking that my CD player would work once again out of luck. But now I get an error message everytime I turn on my computer, saying: he can't start the CD player, because it is not installed. I got tired to see this message, so I asked the Bios not to try to read the disc whenever it turns on. Is there someone who can show me in the right direction to get this working? I just used a second computer and make a network connection to a Cd drive to formal and reinstall windows Xp. My CD and DVD drives are still not being displayed. I couldn't drive resource of work either because I couldn't remember how to make this connection network player again. So I put the CD on my external hard drive and tried to use it this way, but it did not really work. Some of the things just turned into shortcuts.

Hi, after installing some updates my dvd/cd drive is not detected by the system and the option is not in my computer menu, so I checked in the Device Manager. and my cd/dvd drivers are completely absent and not present in the Device Manager. I m using vista Home premium, help someone

    Hello

1st reboot and watch again in Device Manager:

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

    Hello

When I was with Windows XP, I have never had problems to read or write on CD, CD - R, DVD, DVD - R or DVD - RW. • Satellite A100 does not recognize the new CD/DVD drive

I bought a new CD/DVD drive for my A-100 of Toshiba Satellite age of four year old went crazy and wouldn't work.

Unfortunately, I bought a DVD of Toshiba Portege A100 / reader Combo CD - RW that is not exactly what I had before the jump that it will still work.

Unfortunately, I'm surprised because it does not recognize the CD/DVD drive at all: /...
It seems to work, and the light blinks I think that it is not broken.

I just plugged it because that's the way I was told to do.
I need to download the drivers to operate?
It will work on my laptop, or is it a "most recent" CD player that will not work with my laptop?

    I'd appreciate any help. THX

The BIOS does not recognize this new CURIOUS because the player seems not to be fully compatible.
I think there bad master/slave/c-salt settings

As you know these settings can be changed on the external CD/DVD drive for desktop switching jumper. But it is not possible for computers portable CD/DVD players.

You can solve it only purchase a new compatible disc.

  • Yoga Pro 2 - display not recognized in windows (hardware or driver problem?)

Out of warranty by a month!

Yoga Pro 2-256 gb, installed a new wireless card a month ago. Windows 8.1

The touchscreen still work while the screen is black.

System restarted after the mode 'sleep', in my opinion.

The Lenovo logo is displayed, seems to load Windows, but when windows loads (I don't see it so it is a hypothesis of load) drafts of the screen and the black light is on.

Can I connect an external monintor that connects after the return from sleep mode (odd). Who then off the backlight.

When the external monitor, the internal screen is not yet recognized by windows.

When I boot in safe mode, the internal display works fine with of course limited capabilities.

I rebooted on the support site display drivers.

Right now my internal monitor is not recognized by windows and is dark, and I can use an external monitor.

Someone at - he of the clues as to what my happen? Hardware, driver etc?

    Can what information I provide?

It is a pretty weird problem with contradictory observations.

    (1) screen working in Mode safe but not regular boot. (So not the hardware problem)

    (2) display on an external monitor in normal mode. (So, no drivers issue)

Have you installed the wireless card yourself? You unplug the cable from the screen during the installation of the card?

Could you re - open and check that all connections are good?

The Wi - Fi card works well?

I also recommend a complete reset of the laptop to eliminate the possibility that it is a corrupt driver. You can use the NOVO button to reset your laptop. Make sure you make a backup on an external drive for your personal files.

    Hello

Have you checked the player on other computers running Windows 7, Vista or XP?

Be sure to check forums and with Support of the manufacturer of the Drive, their documentation online.

It is SanDisk however, these methods can help with other brands of USB keys.

    ===========================================================

Check with manufacturer's support the system, their drivers and documentation online and ask for their
Forums (if any) for known issues. Search for updates of BIOS, chipset of low-level drivers and others
USB drivers on the site of the manufacturer of the system (motherboard for systems custom built manufacturer).

If a PC remove ALL power and reinstallation of the cards, memory and cables (at both ends where possible)
-in fact, remove and replace - do not just tight. Remove the dust bunnies and make sure that the ventilation openings
are clear. For a laptop on everything that can be done is to reinstall the memory and clear the vents.

If nothing works and it's a PC, you can disable the onboard USB and use a USB add-in card
is not expensive. Of course for a PC or laptop using a real computer store (one who does in)
Home service) or system manufacturer support can be requested.
