  Hello. Ive been at this for 4 days now, I can't find a solution. I'll try to remember as much as possible regarding what ive tried.

  long story short, due to unfortunate system errors, I have reinstalled my OS XP home to xp pro. PC works great now! problem is... now my wireless adapter wont connect to the internet.

  When I had xp home edition installed, I could just plug in the adapter, and a few seconds, it would connect to the favorite network. (with all settings on Auto) no problem.

  now that ive put in OS, it's just cycling "absorbing the network address" infinitely...

When I conect the adapter it detects but I go to the Device Manager and it shows as 'unknown' and with a yellow exclamation point.   I'm glad you ignored my strange sense of humor. What I said was in the device under modems Manager, activate the option for your USB key to 'Allow this device to wake the computer from sleep mode', this option is also in the adapters to network and Ports (COM + LTP) check all three places.
